Reolink Trackmix Review - 4K Dual Lens Security Camera with Motion Tracking (PoE & WiFi)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 июл 2024
- Today, we are going to review the Reolink Trackmix. This is a dual lens (zoom & wide lenses) PTZ security camera from Reolink that has smart AI motion tracking (it can track a person, animals or vehicles) and combines the view of both lenses to have a real time zoom. It has both digital tracking and physical pan and tilt tracking from the camera.
I'll be reviewing 2 models the Trackmix WIFI version and also the PoE IP NVR version.
We will check out its features, do a quick unboxing, set it up, install and check out its video and audio quality and do our usual tests plus test out its motion tracking and see if this Reolink Trackmix will be a good option for your home security camera needs.

Great attention to detail in addressing possible concerns. Definitely purchasing this one now
Just ordered one today, thank you for all the work you put into your videos.
@R0NELL...Thanks for watching!
How are you liking it?
It’s like you read my mind. I wanted you to review this one. Looks very good.
Hope you like it!
The one your holding a plate number is very helpful. Thank you very much.
Great as usual.
Thank You!
Always nice content review! Nice hat btw! THANKS
Thank you... I appreciate it.
That thing is a beast! Nice video
HELLO HUGO!! What a beautiful floof you have 👍
Oh, another great review from one of the hardest working YT channels, nice work LH.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Thanks. Appreciate the vid. Very helpful
Great camera and amazing picture quality 👌
Yes it is..
Thank you for this review! I think I asked if you could do it about a week or 2 ago now. I think I'll be ordering one soon! It will work perfect to mount on my garage and monitor my back lane and driveway.
Awesome video!! This camera seems to be a good purchase. I appreciate the review!!
Thanks for watching!
@@LifeHackster I purchased this camera. I really like it. I have a question for u. What’s the best NVR from Reolink you would suggest for this Camera? I hope u can help with this question. Thanks.
Thank you so much for helping me make this decision to buy
I like the test at 7:13. Well done.
Thank you.
Great review as always. I pre ordered mine a week or two ago and your review has got me hyped. Can't wait.
great review. It would be interesting to see the license plate vs distance image quality during night with IR mode.
Great review! Looking forward to your comprison between these and the Reolink RLC-811a
Probably the 823A in my future videos.
Great vid as always
Thank you.
@@LifeHackster I think this is a scam
@@davidmeredith2695 - Thanks for the heads up. I reported it.
I'm testing the TrackMix currently, you should have tested it in your front yard with the street. It gets distracted constantly by my neighbors vehicle parked in the same spot for 24hr. It will over rotate and stare at the wall, it flips to IR mode, you have to have a monitor point set and auto return set to keep it from wondering. Sometimes it will over rotate and see a reflection in my bay window, and try to track motion in the window. I doubt it's capturing better footage of a moving object while it's moving, than a fixed camera covering that area. I have more work to do with Synology for Surveillance Station to record both feeds.
The AI needs to learn to ignore parked cars that haven't moved.
It needs a setting to limit how far it pans to prevent it from over rotation, and staring at the wall behind.
I still think having 2x overlapping cameras covering an area is better than a PTZ camera. I would only add this for the deterrent factor, but not every opportunistic criminal will see this, if they already missed my warning sign and 8 other security cameras. TrackMix is a good concept, it needs some updates to make it practical.
There's a firmware update that allows you to set tracking limits.
Also mask your neighbors house and driveway in the Detection zone setting.
Change tracking to person only
I have been looking for a ptz camera and this one checks all the boxes. I love that pan and tilt are very quiet. I am definitely getting the poe version and hooking it up to my poe switch thus eliminating the power cord all together. The poe seems a bit faster too in tracking and alerting. I love your dog Hugo. ❤❤
It is pretty good. Thanks.
Very nice review! i still have 5mp bullet cams going strong . I will wait until holidays to upgrade. i wouldn't rely on PTZ as primary but nice to add into mix with bullet stationary cams as primary>
I have and still using their 5MP and also a 4MP cameras as well in my NVR setup.
Excellent review and outstanding cctv for this money
Just so you know, I have now installed two Reolink outdoor cameras. One is totally solar with WiFi, and the other is PoE. I had previously installed an Amcrest. I am not happy with Amcrest. This is a PoE one that drops video and/or fails to open live video. Having said all of that, I want to say this. I will now only install Reolink. The PoE plugs in the ethernet cable. Please connect to the PoE hub, then to my wireless routing. Boom, up and running. The backyard Reolink A830. IO had to please a WiFi extender to connect with my main WiFi router. Works perfectly. I love the tracking features.
Man I wish this available when I bought all the 810’s. This looks awesome for my setup
I know. Reolink has been grinding in releasing new products..and there are more to come...
Yea I need that!
Seems to be the best of both worlds for having both static and PTZ video footage. If only they fix the tracking detection and some ghosting issues at night in a future version. Overall, I would prefer this over the RLC-823A. I might get away with placing this at my front yard without the neighbors complaining, provided I don't have its white LEDs on following them lol.
Would love to see a comparison between the two including the motor noise. Thanks and great work as always sir.
Neighbors coming to your rescue if a thief vandalizes your property?
Hope we all get rain soon here in Texas. Your yard sounds crunchy like mine here in Dallas. Nice camera!
Yes... we badly need RAIN! Thanks.
Thank you for all the great reviews. Would you recommend the reolink trackmix or the eufy S340?
i like this guy alot
Fantastic review as usual. I have a dozen Reolink cameras and love them. I do have a random question: Should we periodically reboot them ? I asking this because there's a option under system "Auto reboot". thxs
Great review, I have been looking for a high value PTZ to mount on my garage corner to watch my driveway and side yard. Thanks!
Another great review! Reolink just seems to be getting better and better. I'm a fan of Eufy, but they don't have PTZ cams. I may have to switch a couple for this Reolink model.
Agreed. Eufy is good to a point but when it comes to wanting something that’s better quality and wired then Reolink is the next logical step up. Things like Unifi are nice but the price point is absurd.
They do - Eufy! Floodlight Cam 2 Pro
@@gerryf7015 True, but Reolink has more options. Besides, I don't need more floodlights.
Thanks for watching!
@@gerryf7015Eufy's memory is insufficient.
Great video, can you get this to scan the area with the pan function so it covers a wider area, or is it just when it's tracking?
Wow! This is an awesome camera, but that ghosting... Hope they can fix it somehow. Fantastic review as always 👍🏻😁
I know. I wish Reolink would start using starlight sensors. Thanks.
People wont realize right away that this is the new standard for cameras.
I can't wait to see the specs on this model in like 5 years when it's like dual 24mp with a 30X zoom lol
I have a PTZ camera with 20x optical zoom which is an amazing feature, but I only use it when I'm showing off how much zoom it has 😊.
I think the zoom on this one is more than enough for regular use. I also think over 4K would just demand more storage.
But on the other hand, 100+TB SSD (or other not yet invented technology) may be super cheap😊
Great reviews thanks. I just changed my old rlc-410s for an Rlc-511a and a 510a. Has almost totally fixed the issue of being bombarded with false alerts, but I think I’ll still need a separate IR light to stop the spiders (there are times when I can’t get to house to clean lenses). Was interested in this trackmix to replace the 510a at the back as I cant cover it properly with just one cam otherwise. No patrol mode however so may still be no use tome. Need to look again at the field of view specs you give to work out what it will see. Thanks again!
nice video! very informative. I was curious for the night video with spotlight off, can you increase the fps?
Hey this looks good. What other alternatives should I consider in a similar price range ? Maybe something with an optical zoom lens and maybe better night vision ? Looking forward to your recomendation.
THanks !
Thanks, I might have bought this instead of the dual cam floodlight wifi, if it had floodlight, but maybe I'll pick up a few and get the floodlight separately. GREAT CAMERA. i really miss having pan n tilt in the dual cam.
Thank you for your reviews. There are so many to choose!
Which reolink camera has all these features:
4K
Wired connection with network video recorder
Motion activated color night vision
weather proof
human/ vehicle/pet detection
two way talk
Hi, love your comparisons and testing. First-time surveillance system buyer. Need a system for a residential construction project and then will move the system to our home or other location. Am going poe, but would like the flexibility of wifi for one or more cameras.
Question: Are there any negatives of the wifi version compared to the poe version? They are basically the same price, and if you can still run the wifi one on poe, is there any tradeoff? Thanks so much!
Ps I absolutely love your dog ❤️
Thank you! He is always wanting to be in the shot. :)
So nice🥰🥰
Thanks. Great review. I think I’ll replace one of mine.
Thanks
You are welcome.
I have learned a lot from your many videos - thank you so much! I ended up going with the Eufy spotlight cams + a couple of the eufy solar cams and am very satisfied with them so far. This Reolink looks very tempting, but mixing brands is a bit of a hassle. I do have a question for you, last year I had a porch pirate steal a package. I got a decent photo of the person, but the police basically said no license number, no investigation. I have tried a Eufy cam mounted under my mailbox and I get pretty good video, but with any motion, the plate number is blurred just enough to be unreadable... any suggestions for something that can get a license number off a car moving 5-15 miles an hour?
I just read about License Plate Reader cameras, that can track moving vehicles and they detect the license plate clearly, go to CCTV Camera Pros and read all about the different types of cameras. I am going for a camera that can read up to 45mph, and can also read at night…lots of education on this site…btw, I am a consumer, not a reviewer, and no links to the website….good luck
Don't expect quality from Eufy cameras. They are the best for notifications & speed but their fatal flaw is their quality due to the low bitrate. Reolink smashes them out of the water for image quality because they allow a much higher bitrate that can actually read number plates and make out people's faces (4K cameras).
I'm the 1k liked 😁
Hi there. Can you watch saved footage from let say last night using app? Or does it need to be hooked up to nvr? Thank you. Very informative video.
Pretty good quality in the day time. Now we need eufy cameras to step up to 4k.
Hello, I really enjoy watching your videos because you explain things very well. I bought several cameras from Reolink and after this video also the track mix. Now I have questions about the 823 and the track mix that Reolink didn't answer: what are your autotracking settings and how does it work with the dual lens? I have a system with Reolink NVR and all cameras are PoE. Can you help me? Thanks in advance and greetings
I know you've had much more time with the Eufy but based on your overall experience thus far/all things considered, which would be your pick - this or the Floodlight Cam 2 Pro?
Hi. Pretty good review. Just a note though, whatever you are taking audio samples, you need to do it @ 1 meter (3.28ft). That's the international standard.
I like to see you mount both in front of your home where more traffic is and see how it works out 2: can you turn off tracking? 3: can you set a schedule for tracking like say start at 12 mid night? 4: is the wifi plug in to outlet only or is there a battery version? Over all i think this is the best thing reolink has made in a while.. plus its could be scary at night if you are being tracked when your up to no good..
You can turn off tracking...no schedule on tracking though...wifi needs to be plugged in or wired in (12 volts).
@@LifeHackster so on wifi it can also be powered by POE?
@@Rockaland2 the wifi version does have an ethernet jack but not PoE capable. If you want to use PoE, get the PoE version.
Thanks for the very good test. But a question: so it isn't possible to rec in 4k with the tele lens, without using the wide lens, in manual mode for example? This for I would use it to filming wildlife... (this just if the 4G version, that I would purchase, has the same characteristics of the wifi-poe version). Thanks
I have both Reolink and Eufy Wi-Fi cameras and want to at 2 auto tracking Cameras to my setup. My dilemma is do I go with the Reolink TrackMix or the new Eufy S340. Anyone tried both and have advice?
Hi
How does trackmix compare to other ptz reolink does 823A?
Thanks
What are your thoughts on this compared to the ptz rlc-823a? Which one do you like better?
Looking forward to seeing the solar panel version. Tracking is a great option.
I have to check it out when it comes out.
I just saw this on their site. I heard that a battery version is coming out…hope it is true. Anyhow, great review as always. One question….can you adjust the light brightness? Thanks!
Yes, you can adjust the light brightness in the app. Thanks.
Would like to see if car plate number at night time can easily be read. And which reolink is the best with panning tilt. Planning to put at our driveway. Thanks.
can you set up a specific rotation angle so it does not get distracted by the neighbor's noises or movement next door?
Interesting video… I would want to know if I can use a POE splitter to convert from the power cable to a POE feature in the Wi-Fi Reolink trackmix
Yes, you can.
Nice video, thanks. How do you compare reolink 4K trackmix ($159.99) with the 5MP rlc-523wa ($220.99) ?
Would you choose the trackmix over the 823a ?
Can you do a comparison with the reolink duo 2, especially on the zoom side aspect? They are both 4k but I feel like the track mix has a better zoom
I think he answers this question by showing that 1080 telephoto looks better than 4K digital zoom at 50 feet. Remember 1080P telephoto lens is 8mm.
Thanks for your great video. Between this camera and the 81MA, which one will you choose ? Why ? Thanks a lot.
I'll always choose a static one. There are many things can eventually go wrong with pan and tilt cameras because of the moving parts.
@@LifeHackster Thanks you for your answer. I spent hours watching your videos, they helped me so much. Your work is really appreciated. It's really great to be able to exchange with you thanks to RUclips. Thanks again.
@@angelo8872 You are welcome.
Hi LifeJackster i'm one of you subscribed.
I got few reolink por cameras and when I open the app on my android tablet I don't have a way to see the recorded videos. Is there is something wrong with the android app?
Question for you . If I install this to a nvr and use a Poe splitter, do I need the Poe injector also or can I just run camera to splitter to nvr?
so no issue if i use the adapter itcame with and i plug it to my outside 120V outlet? just concerned about the power voltage.
Great review. I want one for my main entrance to the farm. Is it possible to set a maximum tilt within a certain pan area? I'm asking because i want full freedom when looking into the property, but limited when looking at the driveway due to legal concerns when having a camera that sees farther than my property.
I am reacquainting myself with Home Assistant so I think it's possible to do some magic there otherwise.
Is the night vision on par with the CX410. If you have external lights, aka street, that camera works amazing well.
Nope. This one has a regular sensor.
On the POE version, does it look like the bottom of the base (the part having the mount on it) can be removed? Been looking for a indoor window sill tracking camera with sd card like this but with poe/ethernet capabilities.
thanks for the review. it seems a decent camera. one thing i do not like is that all these cameras have bulky connectors. i do not want the wires to be visible. for a security cam that is a nogo. you have to drill huge holes if you want to have the wires through the wall. i would prefer small connectors that can be connected inside the camera. or that the bulky connectors can be placed in the holder/housing. I did not see any info about rtsp streams but i will watch again in case i missed it.
Hello,
What is the difference between:
Reolink TrackMix PoE 1 and The RLC 823A. I noticed the mount, size, and the price is different. Please tell me if there are any other differences. I want to purchase one ASAP.
Thank you
Hi. Thanks for the vid. Between Trackmix and Duo 2, which one in your opinion has a better night vision? By better I mean, sees further at night (not necessarily clearer). Trackmix has 6x hybrid zoom. It means it is both optical and digital? And I found Duo has 16x zoom (I guess digital only). Is this correct? Cause this info is not listed on the official Reolink website (at least I could not find such info there).
Duo is all digital. The trackmix mixes the narrow and wide lenses. As to night vision, both have pretty decent IR night vision.
@LifeHackster Great review as always. I literally just purchased the RLC-523WA during Prime day waiting for this camera. In your opinion, do you think the Trackmix is better? Would you be able to do a review between this, the RLC-523WA & the 823a?
I'm not sure yet which is better but I'll do a comparison most likely with the 823A in my future videos. Thanks.
@@LifeHackster awesome! Thanks! And I love your channel!
I actually watched this a few times & it seems that Reolink really needs to dial in their tracking better in future firmware.
The camera should do a much better job at keeping the person detected in the center of the frame and not backing off the object so much.
The whole idea of the second lens is to be zoomed in super close to what's being followed, not to zoom out 😂
I ordered one of these but O have other Reolink cams and the more I'm noticing how poor the auto zoom really is, the less excited I am to receive it.
I have a 523 PTZ that does a good job at auto tracking, so if the Zoom is spotty on the TrackMix then it's really not that much better IMHO.
Again maybe they update the firmware and it turns out to be much better in the future, only time will tell.
It’s only 179
@@BLAKEISHart I have 4 of their camaeras, 3 PTZ models, I'd pay more if they did this one right
@@Atum_Rasomeone stole my gun out of my car, for someone like me, my front yard is as bad as his backyard, it would seriously help I feel. Especially under 200 for poe
On cellular camera - can you plug in outlet instead of solar panel? The reolink site is confusing
Will it start detecting motion to follow if the subject will be coming from the back of the camera?
What’s this like compared to the E1 Outdoor? I’m not sure whether to get the TrackMix, E1 Outdoor or wait for the E1 Outdoor 4k. Any recommendations?
is it continuous recording or just records when motion, is it on SD Card as well or home base?
Does this Trackmix also work off the solar panel? Thanks
I have the battery with solar version of this camera. What’s the best speed settings for ptz the movement is not smooth compared to eufy ptz.
is this camera has colour night vision like CX-410? If not what is the next colour night vision trackmix do you recommend
Which would you choose this Trackmix or the RLC-823a?
Can you use this reolink camera and a differnt reolink camera on the same nvr set up
are both lens in 4k as well? and bright color at night?
Could you suggest how to bind to the cloud? I get to add device and the trackmix is not there.
Are you going to be getting in a Reolink PoE video Doorbell to review? I am looking forward to seeing how that one performs.
Yes, I'll be testing it out when it comes out.
Sometimes the delivery folks move fast, at what point does it loose tracking? My outdoor E1 cannot keep up with most delivery guys.
so does the wifi one show live video on my phone if im not home?
This or Wyze Cam Pan v3? I understand the Wyze is WIFI and has a subscription. Which one would be a better camera overall. Also I live in Canada were temperatures can get to -40F will these cameras freeze up and not operate in these conditions? Thanks
So is this camera plugged into an outlet? How do you go about hiding the wire that leads to the outlet?
So tracking doesn't take place until the object is within wide lens view which is 100 degree?
I see that the horizontal field of view is less than 180 degrees. Does it have auto pan and ,if so, would you trust it to be the only camera to secure a single side of a house? I would think someone could run under neath it while it’s turned away from them.
I don't trust any auto tracking cameras if you know that the motion can start in an area that it doesn't see when it is in its home or guard position. Look at their Duo 3 16 MP if that is your case.
Greetings, it is possible to measure the electrical consumption of this camera. I plan to buy two
Can you disable the spotlight and alarm?
Wow @ 50' super clear. Let's see how Eufy responds.
Very impressed with that as well
It is pretty good even in 1080P.
Will they have an all metal or all black color version?
Will this camera work with my cellphone soley or do I need a P V R ??
Yes. It doesn’t need the NVR.
