    Good review. I kinda feel bad for everyone that jumped on to the first duo version. It hasn't been that long since the first duo luanched. Nice to see the 2 streams are now 1 it is noticable in the wifi version on the grass color. For me the duo 2 would be nice if I didn't have 2 810As facing outwards under my 1st floor soffit. Putting 2 back to back would make a 360 degree fov and with software processing to correct the curved image for a 360 panoramic view. How about a showdown between the 2 versions in a future upload?

      I bought the first Duo and from the videos I've seen on the Duo 2 I'm liking the version 1 better. Version 1 has a faster lens, faster FPS, plus I prefer the two window view compared to the one window view. I have the two windows side-by-side on my NVR and the look is very natural. On the version 2 when you put the two cameras into one window on the NVR, it becomes highly compressed. I was going to get the version 2 but for now I'm holding off.

      I normally don't return them after reviewing. I'm going to make other videos like comparison videos with other cameras. As to the price, it is in the cheaper ball park for what you are getting...4K, 180 degree FOV which is basically the FOV of 2 cameras..compare this price to Ring, Arlo, Eufy and you will see this is the best bang for the buck you are going to get. Reolink's Trackmix is a pan and tilt and is pretty good priced also for what it is.

    I tried this camera in the POE version, and really liked the thought of 180-degree coverage on a stationary camera. The first thing I noticed was the picture was not very clear, and the left camera did not match the right camera in brightness. I checked the firmware on the RLN36 and it was up to date. I updated the firmware on the Duo 2 POE, and that took care of the sharpness issue. After adjusting the camera settings, I could not get the cameras to match in brightness. I tried different mounting areas with the same results. Going to the Reolink website they said it was normal for the cameras not to match. It did not matter if it was day or night, the difference in brightness bothered me so I returned it. The stitching of the two cameras in the center was perfect without any adjustment from the factory settings. If I was Reolink I would make the brightness of each camera adjustable so you could match the brightness of each camera. I think they would avoid a lot of returns if they would do this. I ended up putting my D800 back up.

    • @PuG001
      @PuG001 Год назад +1

      Seems like there's a chance that in some situations making the brightness match at the stitch line might result in non-optimal brightness in the rest of one of the cameras, with some areas blown out or too dark for example. I'm all for giving users more options/control, though. For someone with a security focus it may be more important that each camera is capturing as much picture accurately while sacrificing a perfect picture blend, but others may care more about capturing memories that look good and be ok with sacrificing picture quality in certain areas of the shot. And of course if they can manage to improve the stitching without sacrificing image quality much in other areas, all the better!

    • @OnTheEdgeNow
      @OnTheEdgeNow Год назад

      @@PuG001 In my opinion if the cameras don't match you will not be able to accurately adjust the settings. One camera will be too light or too dark to get the optimal capture. An example would be when I tried to adjust the contrast, one camera looked really good, and the second camera was not good. Reversing the setting to make the other camera look good made the first camera less than optimal. Either factory matching the cameras or making the cameras adjustable individually would be the way to go. At this price point I arm out of the wyze cam bracket and have higher expectations.

    How are you suppose to connect it to your router if it’s mounted outdoors?

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 года назад +2

      I'm assuming you are talking about the WIFI version. Just set it up inside the house near your router to set up the WIFI. Now, if you are talking about the camera system itself...both of these are wired and for the PoE, you have to have an ethernet cable going in to where you are installing this and the cable is connected to your PoE switch which is connected to your router. As to the WIFI, you will need a place where you can plug it in or where you can provide a 12 volt DC power to run the camera.

    • @beepboopbeepboop190

      If you're talking the poe version, I just used outdoor rated cat cable and ran it in through an exterior wall. I've got 5 cables that come in through two separate holes on exterior walls, running through a waterproof junction box on the outside and sealed it up with silicone caulking. Works well, never have to worry about wifi strength or wifi congestion or wifi dropping, let alone batteries.

Realized I already have a bunch of cables coming in through holes other people made (ISP, power, etc) so this is just another but mine looks better because it's all coming in through junction boxes and not just a bare hole in the side. I'd suggest searching on youtube for videos on running cable for exterior poe cameras before ruling them out -- otherwise, like LH said, wifi version would do the trick.

    Do you have any idea on finding a solution with me please? I have the Duo 2 (PoE), it works great during the day, however during the night, it struggles immensely picking up someone. I am able to walk all the way to underneath the camera most of the time without me getting picked up. I am 6ft tall, with the camera around 12ft high. Only some times does it pick me up during the night and that is when I’m coming up to the camera.
    I do have the latest firmware and everything, I have tried lowering the detection settings to 99 and setting the minimum detection box to very small and maximum all the way on both person and pet. My overall sensitivity is 50 with person and pet marked as 99 sensitive.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  7 месяцев назад +1

      I have a feeling that because it is installed a bit too high, it's AI is not identifying you as a person when you are underneath it. You might need to tilt it down some more or lower it down. Try to not use the detection size box, or even the zones yet, set the detection to the highest sensitivity in both human and motion...and see. If you are detected 100% of the time, then dial it down to your preference.

      @@LifeHackster thank you for your quick response. Unfortunately I cannot aim the Duo 2 down any further due to the arm/bracket not allowing me.
      I have thought about turning the Duo 2 upside down and then ‘flipping’ the image to be able to angle it down little more. However, I am slightly concerned over doing this as it would mean that the SD Card slot along with the speakers to the camera would be facing upwards. I am unsure if it would be protected from the elements of the English weather (snow, rain, sleet).
      I thought maybe I installed it slightly too high also, but during the day it picks up motion.

The cams that have lights, you can set the lights to turn on all time at night with a schedule, or only when they sense motion, then they turn off after the event. I would like to put this for my driveway, but the best spot to take advantage of the FOV would mean people are walking directly toward the camera, so I would need to offset it and angle it, unless there really isn't any issues.

    • @markd.songsandstuff7728
      @markd.songsandstuff7728 2 года назад +2

      There can be issues with PIR based motion detection with any brand, which are often battery powered. They can trigger late when someone walks straight toward a cam. Walking across the field of view, PIR cams trigger pretty good. I think the non battery Reolink cams use pixel based detection. Pixel based detection doesn't have the problem of triggering late when walking toward a cam. I've only had the Duo 2 for about a week. I haven't noticed any problem of it failing to trigger walking toward it. I like the Duo 2 a lot so far. I have a couple Blink battery cams, one by my front door. It sometimes triggers late, catches a package delivery person walking away, missed them putting the package on the porch.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 года назад +2

      Towards the camera testing that I do are only for battery powered cameras which use a PIR sensor. Wired or plugged in cameras use pixel based or camera based detection with AI algorithm...so any movement will trigger it.
