Thanks @Sola_Scriptura_1.618! It's amazing you made it through all those software settings. I often debate whether I should include it because it really lengthens the video considerably, so it's always great to hear that it was helpful. Thanks for watching 🙂
@DemCrumblies , when you provide in-depth details that no one provides, it sets you apart from all the other reviewers. You offer a good balance between hardware vs software features. Once we know the hardware is solid and provides the performance, the rest is in the software and the settings. Thanks again!
Yep, that's a good point because I've used great hardware before, only to be let down by the software experience. If you're interested, I'll be reviewing the rest of their dual cam line in the coming days. Thanks again for watching!@@Sola_Scriptura_1.618
If you mean you bought the Floodlight Camera E340, that has be to connected to main electricity since it's a much more powerful camera with a way brighter floodlight and 24/7 recordings. I did a review of it here: ruclips.net/video/M3lNb5fLGGU/видео.html
This camera doesn't have 24/7 recording even if you supplied power to it with a USB C cable. You'd have to look into a wired camera for 24/7 recording since most solar cameras don't have 24/7 functionality built into them natively.
AWESOME REVIEW! I just ordered one of these cameras and I will be using your video to set up my camera when I get it. You covered everything. THANK YOU!
@@DemCrumblies I'm old and not real good with technology so I was a little concerned about the camera. But after watching your video I am sure I will love it! I'll watch your video again to get my camera set up. I watched several videos on this camera and yours is the best. Thanks again! I liked and subscribed!
@@DemCrumblies Adrian, I got my S340 camera, got it programmed, got it mounted, and I've used it for a few days. I LOVE THIS THING! I found out that I can watch the live cam on my desktop computer also! I think I'll buy another S340 and the homebase now. Thanks for your great review, I used it when I programmed my camera.
@@crazybobc1 That's fantastic to hear! How has the battery been holding up so far for you? I'm at around the 95% mark and it's quite busy where I live with constant traffic and motion from cars and passersby. Glad you're loving your new camera, it's quite capable for the size.
Thanks for sharing those motion detection & battery charge percentage numbers. They're so helpful. Are you able to hear the sound that the camera makes when it's panning from the sidewalk? How far is the sidewalk from where you have your camera installed?
Hey @ether, I can't hear any noise from it while panning and tilting, even when I'm a few feet from it. My sidewalk is away 20 to 22 feet away from the camera. Glad the motion and battery info was useful! Thanks for watching 🙂
When the camera tracks a subject across its entire pan range, does it return to its original default position after? Or does it stay aimed wherever the subject left the field of view?
Thank you for watching Richard 🙂 Yes, it has been a very worthy upgrade over the previous SoloCam series of cameras. The solar charging effectiveness is also quite good because mine is still at 100% battery even though we've gone through the past few days with mostly overcast weather and some rain.
Bought this camera on black friday and can't wait to test it out! Also just found out about your channel man, and you're definitely killing it on the review & production side! I was also planning to get the E340 for our garage, but not sure how to route power from the attic through the drywall outside.
Thanks man! Yea the power delivery is a real pain with these floodlight cameras. BTW, I also reviewed a floodlight from a company called AOSU, also quite good for almost half the price. However same power delivery issue and you'd have to use a different app. I'm lazy and want to use one app, so I stuck with the eufy Floodlight Cam.
Yep, I did a quick test here of it: ruclips.net/video/76SUrpYfgFo/видео.htmlsi=VzdMoSFe8GNIm6FX&t=876 and it's been solid so far! The best of their SoloCam line.
If the battery gets low, you can connect a USB C cable to the camera and plug the cable into a wall or a power bank to recharge the battery. You won't need to buy a new camera and it isn't designed for us to switch out the battery.
I had mounted it in between the bricks. I drilled into the grout area between the bricks (sorry not sure what the correct term is), but I had to use a drill and spend some time to hollow out the area before I used the supplied anchors and screws.
Great review they sent me this same camera in my email today, I have two of the E40 camera and two for my church, it look like that this is something on what I was looking for because the one other camera that I have is not working I might pick one up.
Great review!! I currently have the S330 cameras but the protective film on the solar panel is peeling off and is a warranty issue, I'm tempted to get a refund and purchase these. Can the S340 camera be scheduled to alarm the same as the S330, if motion is dected at a sheduled time to deter the person creeping around?
Hey @lukoevans, there isn't an alarm option in the menu settings for the camera, but it looks like you can do it through the Modes section of the app by selecting the Away Mode and enabling the Camera Alarm there, so you add an Away Schedule in the Modes section for when you want it to turn on. How long have you had your S330 cameras before you noticed the film peeling off? Mine still look fine, but they've only been through one Winter so far.
@@DemCrumblies I thought that would be the case I just wanted to make sure! We've had our S330 cameras for around 10 months and they've gone through a British winter and summer. It made the protection film go a gray colour which affected the charging greatly, so that's what made me take the camera down and take a look. I've seen other Eufy customers have the same issue with the S330 cameras as well online.
I think I remember seeing a thread on Reddit about the same issue, but I can't remember if it was for the S330 or one of the SoloCams. I think eufy mentioned that the solar charging panels on this camera is more efficient and can also charge even with some shade on it and in a reduced capacity. Hopefully, the same issue doesn't plague these new panels. @@lukoevans
Thank you for the fantastic review of the S340. Because of the review, the item was purchased. It seems like the gutters on the roof are in the way of installing the solar panel. Is there a creative way of installing the camera with the solar panel attached, or do I need to purchase an extension wall mount? If an extension wall mount is necessary, what concerns should I have with the USB-C port? It does not rain much here. What would be the best extension wall mount for the solar panel for this security camera? I see an 8-inch mount by Holicfun. Are there any smaller options beside 8-inch?
Hi there, I haven't considered the gutter mounts before, but it looks like a worthwhile option actually. The USB C cable that runs from the solar panel to the camera body is designed to provide proper weather sealing so even if you use the gutter mount, you can just wrap the excess cable around it somehow or zip tie it in place, leaving you enough cable length to plug into the camera body, give or take a few centimeters maybe to account for high winds possibly.
Appreciate the great review. On the fence between solar and wired as I'd prefer the 24hr surveillance. Also, are older Euphy cams compatible with HB3? Thank you.
Hey @heyjerzygirl23, yea I also prefer 24/7 recordings. I can recommend the Reolink Duo 2 camera for that, which has 180º Field of View. The newest Eufy Floodlight Camera is great too too requires more complicated wiring than the Reolink camera. Some of the older eufy cams may be compatible with the HB3, but you'd have to check each product page and check the bottom of the page for the FAQ section to know for sure.
Hey @lennartzipfel8162 , you'd have to connect a USB type C cable to it and run the cable into your home to charge it, or connect the USB C cable to a power bank and charge it up that way so you don't need to remove the camera from where it's mounted.
What’s the motion sensor field of view? I believe on e340 it is much wider perhaps 270 degrees while on s340 it’s limited to camera field of view of 135 degrees. Right?
I'm not sure of the motion sensor field of view, but the live view field of view is 135º for both cameras. You might have to contact eufy chat support to get the exact specs for the motion sensor detection range.
Yep, you'll get alerts on your phone any time motion is detected that you can tap on to open up the recorded video. You can also open live view in the app and talk to the person outside, but if someone just stands outside and starts talking to the camera, you'll just get an alert that motion was detected, it doesn't come in as a doorbell call or ring.
If there's minimal sunlight, it will only charge for a couple of hours a day or not at all maybe if it's super overcast all day. I'm in Canada and during the Winter time there's many days or weeks in a row of mostly overcast weather. I just adjusted my camera settings to reduce the spotlight, reduce the recording resolution and recording length and disabled auto tracking to save battery. Now that it's Spring time, my battery level is at around 90% and I live in a busy area with lots of motion for it to track, recording and follow. If your battery ever dies completely, you can connect a power bank with a large USB C cable attached to the camera if you want to leave it mounted, or you can remove it from the mount, take it inside your home, charge it up and install it back.
You probably can do that, but it would degrade the battery over time if it's constantly at 100% charge. However, you may not care about battery degradation if you plan to keep it plugged in all the time anyways. You'd also have to fully seal the USB port to prevent water from getting in.
Kind of hard to say, but I'm assuming it would pan and tilt to wherever motion was first detected and follow that subject. If you want to never miss any action, you'd have to buy two cameras or get a camera like the Reolink Duo 2, which has 180º field of view so it won't miss any subject.
Hi, i am in doubt if i buy this eufy cam or if i buy reolink trackmix. In your experience, wich one you think is better option? Thank you for your time. Best regards
I haven't used the Reolink Trackmix, but I have also reviewed other Reolink products and they are great too. Reolink's cameras let you view them with your phone or Windows software, which is a plus for me. However, the trackmix seems to require hard wiring an ethernet cable for POE, so I prefer the convenience of the S340 vs. worrying about wiring. If wiring isn't an issue for you, the Reolink camera has a higher FPS for smoother video recordings, the lumen output on the Trackmix is also slightly higher and it also accepts up to a 256 GB microSD card, whereas the eufy S340 has onboard storage and requires the HomeBase 3 to expand storage further. If you're ok with wiring, I'd probably recommend the Trackmix from what I see on paper. However, I can't comment on how well their AI detection and tracking is compared to the S340.
thank you for your answer, the trackmix also has a version with solar panel. i like the design of eufy but seems that the reolink model is a level above , because of the multiple plataforms in windows and cellphone app. thanks again for your time :)@@DemCrumblies
If it has a solar panel version too, then yea it's a bit more feature packed, plus it has a 4K camera, while the max resolution on the S340 is 3K when recording single view. Good luck : )@@AndreSoares89
Yea it really is. The auto AI panning works so well and the solar panel seems pretty efficient at charging too. Would be great with all that Florida sunlight.
It doesn't come with a microSD card, but I linked the one I used in the video description. A 20 second clip is about 5.5 MB if you have both lens recording at the same time. A 33 second clip is around 7 MB if you set it to just record on the main lens in 3K quality.
Oh sorry, I thought this was for the eufy Floodlight Cam E340, which has 24/7 recording. This SoloCam S340 doesn't have 24/7 recording, or dual band WiFi, even if it is connected to the optional HomeBase 3.@@eltontsang9079
Hey Elton, I haven't used Ring's cameras to say accurately which camera is better, but if Ring has a monthly plan that must be purchased to get full functionality, then I already feel like eufy is a better option since it has no monthly fees. The SoloCam S340 also has AI automatic tracking, which I feel is an excellent feature and negates the need for cameras to have a super wide field of view, since the camera lens can move to cover any viewing area.@@eltontsang9079
If you plug in a USB C cable, you can probably power it without the solar panel, but the solar panel's USB c cable is thicker at the connector housing to seal and fill in the gap/port where it plugs into the camera to maintain that IP rating. I'm just gonna run it with the solar panel because it seems quite efficient at charging so far. Winter and cold weather will be another thing I have to monitor though.
@@DemCrumblies thanks for the quick response! I wonder if they’ll come out with a hardwired version like their new e330. Wish they had more optical zoom, but compared to Ring this thing is light years ahead. I’m almost debating if I should ask my neighbor to mount it on his eave facing my house 😀, that would get me the best camera position
@@TobyCostaRica Yea, having the option to wire it would reduce battery anxiety. I think some people just use a regular USB C cable then seal around the area with insulating material to help keep it waterproof at the ports. It isn't an ideal solution, but you wouldn't really see how ugly it looks since it would all be at the rear. Hey, if you have a good neighbor, it's worth a shot lol. But yea, compared to what Blink and Ring output, eufy's cameras are in another league.
@@DemCrumblies thanks! Not sure if you covered it but what is the height of the camera and distance to sidewalk? Excellent channel btw. Great sample footage and app demo
Hey Toby, the camera is mounted a little over 10 feet high and the distance to the edge of the sidewalk closest to the camera is 26 feet. The distance to the furthest edge of the sidewalk away from the camera is about 30.5 feet @@TobyCostaRica
I have question. If camera folow object to the corner, after object disapere camera go back to default position or stay on last position where object was?
Would you say the zoom lens provides better quality video them 4k 3c ? As im thinking of adding s340 to my system due to need better zoom on car regs and faces at around 10m Also is 3× optical or 2× optical? As im im reading its 2× optical
The zoom/telephoto lens is 3X zoom, but only at 2K video quality/resolution. If you set it to only record to only the main 1X camera, it will be 3K video quality, but if both cameras/lens records at the same time, it will drop down to 2K video quality for both the 1X camera and the 3X zoom/telephoto camera. The video quality is still quite good at 2K video quality, but keep in mind that license plates will still be hard to make out when there's glare from the sun or reflections at night on the plate, depending on the plate material. Let me know if that makes sense.
@DemCrumblies that is pretty disappointing that quality drops if 2 lenses are used at the same time,no one mentioned that in reviews so far, maybe i overheard it.I had 2c pros ,compared to 3c when i got them side by side and quality difference is maybe 20% better not huge difference like i expected
Yea, I think it isn't powerful enough to have 3K for both, which is why it's capped to 2K. Yea there may even be a 4K version sometime next year if the trend keeps up. Maybe 4K main camera and 3K for the telephoto lens next year. @@justme19852
Is it possible to only have the timestamp without logo? Can you set the ai tracking to only track certain situations (only humans for example)? Will it still record if you have an internet outage and don't have the base?
You can set it to have "Timestamp" only without Logo. AI tracking mentions that it only tracks humans and vehicles, but if you set Motion Detection to only focus on Humans, it will ignore vehicles. So, it is supposed to record to the onboard storage when there is a power outage, but once it is connected to the HomeBase 3, I am not sure how that works. I can contact eufy about that and get back to you later.
@@DemCrumblies thanks for the help, but I do have one more question. For the tracking, does the camera return to the default position or stay in the position it was at after tracking?
You can set a default position for it to always return to when you set up the 4 patrol points (even though you don't ever have to use the 4 patrol points).@@battery_wattage
If you put it under your porch you should be able to hard wire it to provide continuous power, but you can contact Eufy Chat Support to confirm 100%. Just be mindful that depending on where it's situated under the porch, if there's any chance at all of heavy and windy rain hitting the camera at all, moisture may get into the USB C port. Eufy has a modified USB C cable with a thick connector grip to fully seal the USB C port. I know some people have used standard USB C cables and used caulk or some other sort of insulating material to cover the port afterwards that is easy to remove.
You can run this on WiFi only without the HomeBase 3. If you don't have a HomeBase 3, you won't get Pet Detection and Human Recognition, but you still get Human Detection. You also only get local storage without the HomeBase 3, which is limited to 7.1 GB usable storage for recordings.
@DemCrumblies thank you so much for replying. I know itll be pending how much activity there is but how long would 7gb of memory give you couple of days?
Yea it really will depend, I think it estimated I would get 9 to 10 days, but that's based on me having over 4600 detection events and over 1000 recordings in just 5 days with a pretty high sensitivity for the motion detection. So if you don't live somewhere where you have lots of motion going on (cars driving by and people walking), you'll easily get a month of storage, maybe more, especially if you have it set to only single camera recording. I had mine set to dual camera recording. @@hqt4272
Personally, I always prefer hard-wired options for cameras because I never have to worry about battery if I want to crank certain settings like the light output, the length of recordings and how many recordings I get daily. The E340 Floodlight Cam also lets you do 24/7 recording, which is much better because sometimes you won't miss anything since you're not waiting for motion detection to kick in, it's just always recording.@@hqt4272
Once you enable AI tracking, it will track everything it sees. You can probably set a specific activity zone where detection occurs, but I just have it set to detect motion anywhere. I did notice in the app that if you want to enable the Privacy Mode to block out a neighbor's area, it says "To ensure real privacy, the camera's pan and tilt functionality will be disabled when the privacy zone feature is enabled."
@@DemCrumblies Ahhh, that kinda sucks it turns into a fixed camera with privacy zones but I could see how that would be a challenge to implement on 2 moving cameras. Guess I’ll wait for 2.0. Thank you!
Yea, it'd be challenging. One way to implement it would be to add faces to the HB3 and select if you want to track them or ignore them if you want to avoid recording neighbors or family members.@@TobyCostaRica
Hey @MNRCRTZ, unfortunately you cannot set a post motion recording. You can create a custom recording mode where it will record as long as 2 minute clip and set it so that it doesn't stop the clip early if motion stops, but the maximum recording length will always be 2 minutes with a minimum of a 5 second cooldown time in between clips if the motion is continuous for more than 2 minutes. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 🙂
@@DemCrumblies so when you say "cooldown" the camera literally gets too hot and needs time to cool down? 5 seconds is not a lot of time for anything to cool down much so can you please elaborate on this cool down time?
@@tdbass2968 Hey there, some camera brands say cool down, some say retrigger time, but it just means the time in between before the next recording begins, not a temperature cool down time.
This one only has event based recording, no 24/7 option. I reviewed another camera here, which has 24/7 recording, but requires hard wiring: ruclips.net/video/M3lNb5fLGGU/видео.html
Does that happen during the day also? What is your motion detection sensitivity set to? Also, what is the battery working mode set to? Did you install it at the recommended installation height btw?
@@motivationnation771 All of that sounds correct. Motion detection distance is rated for 20 - 26 ft (6 - 8 m) during the day and 13 - 20 ft (4 - 6 m) meters at night and I definitely had it track that far out without issue. What happens if you set the default position to be angled a bit slightly lower maybe? If that doesn't help, I'd contact eufy support to see what else they recommended trying because it should easily track 6 meters out during the day.
@DemCrumblies Well, this morning it seems that the recording started from longer distance. Maybe during installing I left a fingerprint on the lens and this affects night vision? I don't know! Have you tested eufy S330? I would like to give them a try also but I have read comments that the built in solar panel started flaking after few months.
@@motivationnation771 Great to hear it's working normally now! Yep I tested the eufy S330 here: ruclips.net/video/ElLrj6leKUM/видео.html I don't have any peeling or flaking with either of my two units. Btw, can I ask why you are considering the S330 camera? They require the HomeBase 3 for recordings, don't have dual lens and a smaller and less efficient solar panel area. I think the SoloCam S340 is better in almost every aspect after using both.
Has anyone had theirs out in the weather yet? That was the weakness of the Solo Cams, mine leaked at the USB connecton where the solar panel extension cord attached. Ruined the SoloCam, out of warranty; bottom line this new Cam looks to have the same "waterproofing" system so I'm very hesitant to spend the money. I wish Eufy built their Cams with a Pigtail connector so I could connect the Solar Extension to it then slather the joint with Silicone and not have to worry about water entering the camera body.
Mine had experienced a bunch of rainstorms and Winter storms without issue. One option could be to mount the solar panel off to the side and to install a security camera cover over the camera body to help deflect water and ice.
Ok my bad, I thought it had Auto Cruise, but I got it mixed up with another model I'm reviewing soon from Eufy. The SoloCam S340 doesn't have Auto Cruise, but on the Floodlight Cam E340, it has Auto Cruise and you can create a schedule by day and time segment and choose from intervals of 10 seconds to 5 minutes before each movement to the next spot.@@r3volt97
I'm not sure what the angle of movement detection is, but if you tilt the camera all the way down to the ground, it mentions that it won't be able to detect accurately. In all other angles, I didn't receive that message though.
Hey @TobyCostaRica, I just updated my reply to mention that the Privacy Zone option is under the Video Settings, I was looking for it under the Motion Detection settings.
Unfortunately, neither are available with this camera. You'd probably have to look at offerings from Reolink because some of their cameras have support.
Hi there can you please talk about the wi fi signal for this camera what’s going to work my camera would be in my rear yard wall and I have a house where the bedrooms are upstairs and the router is at the ground floor at the front of house but I have to use Tp link range extender unit upstairs to rear if my home would that be an issue are you using it with a Homebase unit if so where is it placed
Hey @atifmanzoor63, my HomeBase 3 is about 28 feet away from the SoloCam S340. I do have other cameras that I used with a WiFi extender, but if you do that, you won't be able to connect them to the HB3 because the HB3 uses provides the WiFi signal for cameras connected to it. I'm not sure what the maximum WiFi range of the HB3 is, especially because it will depend on the amount of walls and material, siding, brick, log, etc. Might be best to contact eufy support to see what they say is the max range of the HB3 to be certain.
Thanks for your response I think my camera will be about 30 feet from the Homebase 3 if I’m going to plug it to the router but would I be able to plug the Homebase into the power line range extender which would be next to the wall where the camera is or do you have to plug it directly into router
I don't see why you couldn't just plug the HB3 into a router directly, but I don't have mine set up that way to confirm 100% that it'll work. It should though, but you can contact Eufy Support to confirm if you want to be 100% sure. I also noticed that in the HomeBase 3 settings, there's an option for WiFi functionality if the RJ45 cable is unplugged, but depending on how many cameras you have connected to the HB3, the 2.4 Ghz WiFi working mode on the HB3 probably wouldn't be sufficient.@@atifmanzoor63
I see that there is a floodlight version of this out which is wired for power does anyone know is it exactly the same spec with functionality apart from the floodlight
I will be releasing the video for the Floodlight in 1 or 2 days, but functionality is the same. The only differences are that the floodlight can also do continuous 24/7 recording, you can install a 128 microSD card and it's wired as you mentioned.
Do the license plate test at 30mph. The camera wont be able to pause and have a clear image. Get a high game camera with a secure box on a pole next to the sidewalk pointed down the street at eye level. You will get good close up images of faces and of car licence plates in addition to this camera to watch them steal your stuff. Clear faces and clear images of an LP might help an investigation
Yea the way most people will have to mount this will only catch the sides of cars or diagonals, but not straight on shots most of the time. The game camera sounds like a good idea though. I haven't used one before, but do they do continuous recordings, or it is mostly motion based, and how do you find the battery life?
Most professional criminals are smart. They will park to prevent seeing the licence plate or don’t care because it is a stolen car to begin with. They also were masks. So your comments are moot. The camera is a deterrent for the uneducated thief
Only reason I can think of is they wanted to prolong battery life on the S340 since it can record from two cameras and can pan and tilt while the S40 is always static with one camera.
Yes, this video is a paid collaboration. It should show that at the top left corner of the video, and I believe I mentioned thanking Eufy for sending it out for review in the intro. That said, eufy has not asked me to remove any part of my review or to change my opinions on the camera. I review many cameras, some paid and some not, but in all my videos, I try to follow the same review formula by sharing my thoughts based on usage, app data and giving a timeline range when discussing things such as battery drain, storage space, etc. The security footage is not doctored; it's straight OOC. However, I get the skepticism when watching a review if a product is sent for free or paid, which is why I usually watch a handful of reviews to confirm if the information being presented is consistent with what others are saying on various platforms (Amazon, Reddit, RUclips, Forums, etc.). I only started doing RUclips seriously about 1½ years ago, so I was in your shoes then when watching reviews and researching products, and I still am in your shoes when I need to buy something and get information when it's something I don't own and have to rely on someone else's review. If you check my other reviews (paid or not), I usually try to answer all questions in the comments and help my viewers troubleshoot their issues if they have any. For me, it isn't just a paid review, and then I'm on to the next thing. Before doing RUclips, if I purchased a product as a consumer, I was unlikely to dedicate so much time, effort and production quality to share my review with other consumers, so in general, most brands will send products to users who are willing to dedicate significant time and effort to test their products instead of writing a few lines about it, which is why my reviews are so lengthy, and I cover almost all menu settings. I want my viewers to understand what they are getting before buying a product I recommend. I hope you can give my review a chance, and I'm here to answer your questions as best as I can : ) But I understand if you're still skeptical.

Hey there, the cable is 10 feet (3 m) - source: Amazon Questions and Answers page and Reddit. Thanks for watching : ) @@MaZEEZaM
Fantastic review! The software overview has been the best I have seen! You answered all my questions!
Sorry for asking many questions I just bought e340 does that need a battery or is charged from the main electricity
If you mean you bought the Floodlight Camera E340, that has be to connected to main electricity since it's a much more powerful camera with a way brighter floodlight and 24/7 recordings. I did a review of it here: ruclips.net/video/M3lNb5fLGGU/видео.html
@@DemCrumblies thanks you
can you use AC adapter to power non stop ? am thinking to get this and use record 24/7 with homebase if solor dont give charge in winter times
THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for watching my video 🙂 Let me know how it goes once you get your camera!
@@DemCrumblies I'm old and not real good with technology so I was a little concerned about the camera. But after watching your video I am sure I will love it!
Thanks for watching 🙂
it won't really , motor is moving slowly to preserve battery .
You can set the pan and tilt speed to be pretty fast if you like.
When the camera tracks a subject across its entire pan range, does it return to its original default position after? Or does it stay aimed wherever the subject left the field of view?
It stays for a bit of time, I think around 10 to 15 seconds, then it returns to its default position that was set in the eufy app.
@@DemCrumblies perfect thanks
Excellent informative video!
Glad it was helpful!
Great review! Superb camera system.
I'm lazy and want to use one app, so I stuck with the eufy Floodlight Cam.
can you talk out of it ? i notice that large speaker. awsome review tho. Im deffinetly gonna buy one
Yep, I did a quick test here of it: ruclips.net/video/76SUrpYfgFo/видео.htmlsi=VzdMoSFe8GNIm6FX&t=876 and it's been solid so far! The best of their SoloCam line.
If the battery life is low can you change the battery or you have to buy a new camera
If the battery gets low, you can connect a USB C cable to the camera and plug the cable into a wall or a power bank to recharge the battery. You won't need to buy a new camera and it isn't designed for us to switch out the battery.
@@DemCrumblies how often did need charging
I haven't needed to charge mine because the solar panel on top keeps the battery topped up well on sunny days.
When you mounted rhe camera did you mount it on stucco ? If yes, did you just use the supplied anchors and screws and fixed it on stucco?
I had mounted it in between the bricks. I drilled into the grout area between the bricks (sorry not sure what the correct term is), but I had to use a drill and spend some time to hollow out the area before I used the supplied anchors and screws.
Can the camera be accessible from my phone and my wife’s phone
Yep, in the eufy app, there is an option to share the camera. It should be under the general section of the app if I remember correctly.
@@DemCrumblies thank you for that information I just purchase one now after watching your review
That's great to hear! Let me know if you need any help to set it up once you receive it, good luck!
Great review they sent me this same camera in my email today, I have two of the E40 camera and two for my church, it look like that this is something on what I was looking for because the one other camera that I have is not working I might pick one up.
Yea it's a great all rounder camera with the features it has.
The USB C cable that runs from the solar panel to the camera body is designed to provide proper weather sealing so even if you use the gutter mount, you can just wrap the excess cable around it somehow or zip tie it in place, leaving you enough cable length to plug into the camera body, give or take a few centimeters maybe to account for high winds possibly.
how do you expand the onboard storage?
You have to purchase a microSD card to insert into the camera body. I left a link in the video description to the 128GB microSD card that I used.

Theoretically: What if the weather is really bad for a long period of time and the battery runs to zero. What are the options to charge it
Hey @lennartzipfel8162 , you'd have to connect a USB type C cable to it and run the cable into your home to charge it, or connect the USB C cable to a power bank and charge it up that way so you don't need to remove the camera from where it's mounted.
Hey @lennartzipfel8162, be sure to check my community post for a chance to win a eufy Solocam S340 ; )
Does this notify your phone in the same way a doorbell camera would?
Yep, you'll get alerts on your phone any time motion is detected that you can tap on to open up the recorded video. You can also open live view in the app and talk to the person outside, but if someone just stands outside and starts talking to the camera, you'll just get an alert that motion was detected, it doesn't come in as a doorbell call or ring.
How it will get charge in rainy season when there's no sunlight or minimum sunlight?
Hey @pawanshelke7440, be sure to check my community post for a chance to win a eufy Solocam S340 ; )
Can this camera be permanently connected to a usb socket? Instead of solar charging.
You probably can do that, but it would degrade the battery over time if it's constantly at 100% charge. However, you may not care about battery degradation if you plan to keep it plugged in all the time anyways. You'd also have to fully seal the USB port to prevent water from getting in.
Btw, be sure to check my community post for a chance to win a eufy Solocam S340.
What if the thieves come from two different sides? Which way is t will focus?
Kind of hard to say, but I'm assuming it would pan and tilt to wherever motion was first detected and follow that subject. If you want to never miss any action, you'd have to buy two cameras or get a camera like the Reolink Duo 2, which has 180º field of view so it won't miss any subject.
It will focus on the thief who looks the meanest
@@Jamescreaney can't beat that logic 😉
Could I use the S340 without the solar panel and just take the camera off the wall hinge and re-charge it via USB?
Yep absolutely. You can also just leave it installed and connect a power bank to a USB cable whenever you need to top it up.
Thank you! Could you also leave the camera stationary and not follow in the event that I just want it focused on one spot? @@DemCrumblies

Unfortunately there is no Home Kit support and I don't believe it is in the timeline as a future release, sorry.
Does this S340 have facial recognition when used with Homebase 3?
Yep, you get an additional option for Human Recognition once connected to the HomeBase 3.

Yea it really is. The auto AI panning works so well and the solar panel seems pretty efficient at charging too. Would be great with all that Florida sunlight.
About how many 30 sec clips with 128 GB sd card? Does it come with any SD card?
It doesn't come with a microSD card, but I linked the one I used in the video description. A 20 second clip is about 5.5 MB if you have both lens recording at the same time. A 33 second clip is around 7 MB if you set it to just record on the main lens in 3K quality.

@@DemCrumblies hi, is true can record 24/7 recycling recording ? I seen eufy website can’t record 24/7

@@DemCrumblies it’s ok, Sorry do u think Ring spotlight cam version 2 or eufy solcam s340 which one better ? Thanks
How is the connection between the camera and the homebase 3, is it better than going WiFi ?
I didn't have any connection issues with WiFi or with the HomeBase 3, but my camera was only placed around 19 feet away from my router.
@@DemCrumblies ok thanks
You're welcome, good luck and thanks for watching 🙂
Didn’t know the solar panel was optional! Thanks
So this can run 24/7 if I supply constant power?

Good question, it stays where it last saw them for around 10 seconds then goes back to what was set as the default position in the menu settings.
can we know the video footage frame rate per second of dual lens camera? thank you
Yep, it's 15 FPS for dual view or single view always.
Would you say the zoom lens provides better quality video them 4k 3c ? As im thinking of adding s340 to my system due to need better zoom on car regs and faces at around 10m
Also is 3× optical or 2× optical?
@DemCrumblies now im thinking if should i wait for 4k version of buy this one, with the speed eufy is releasing products it could be soon 😅
What if I don’t want solar and put it under my porch with no sun can it be wired to my power on the wall?
If you put it under your porch you should be able to hard wire it to provide continuous power, but you can contact Eufy Chat Support to confirm 100%. Just be mindful that depending on where it's situated under the porch, if there's any chance at all of heavy and windy rain hitting the camera at all, moisture may get into the USB C port. Eufy has a modified USB C cable with a thick connector grip to fully seal the USB C port. I know some people have used standard USB C cables and used caulk or some other sort of insulating material to cover the port afterwards that is easy to remove.
Do you have to run a homebase with this model or can it run straight off wifi? Do you loose functions if not run through a homebase?
@@hqt4272
How would you rate this to its wired counterpart the E340?
Personally, I always prefer hard-wired options for cameras because I never have to worry about battery if I want to crank certain settings like the light output, the length of recordings and how many recordings I get daily. The E340 Floodlight Cam also lets you do 24/7 recording, which is much better because sometimes you won't miss anything since you're not waiting for motion detection to kick in, it's just always recording.@@hqt4272
11:05 Do these settings also limit the pan/tilt travel limit? Example, I wouldn’t want this to follow my neighbor into their backyard.
Does the recording last as long as there is movement? Or can I configure it to record 1 minute after motion is detected? Thanks
@@tdbass2968 Hey there, some camera brands say cool down, some say retrigger time, but it just means the time in between before the next recording begins, not a temperature cool down time.
does this record 24/7 or only when something is detected ?
This one only has event based recording, no 24/7 option. I reviewed another camera here, which has 24/7 recording, but requires hard wiring: ruclips.net/video/M3lNb5fLGGU/видео.html
Got mine today but seems to record only after I'm like 2-3 meters away from it. I was standing at like 6 meters but no recording what so ever
Does that happen during the day also? What is your motion detection sensitivity set to? Also, what is the battery working mode set to? Did you install it at the recommended installation height btw?
@DemCrumblies Well, motion detection is max, optimal surveillance and installed at about 3 meters
Does this pan an area automatically when not viewing in the application like a sentry mode or do you have to do it manually within the application ?
Sorry this model doesn't have Auto Cruise, it has to be panned manually right now. Their Floodlight Cam E340 does have Auto Cruise,
@@DemCrumblies does it have a schedule on this auto cruise mode or just a regular timer setting
What is the angle of the movement detection?
I'm not sure what the angle of movement detection is, but if you tilt the camera all the way down to the ground, it mentions that it won't be able to detect accurately. In all other angles, I didn't receive that message though.
How long is the Solar extension cable?
Hey Mark, it's 10 feet or 3 meters.
Do you have to use the hub?
Nope, it's completely optional, and I did most of my review without it.
Does this offer privacy zones like the new e330?

@@DemCrumbliesthanks for your reply it’s very helpful
I’m considering the floodlight version of this which you have to wire into power
Dose it support SD card?
It supports microSD card, up to 128 gb.
Hey @atifmanzoor63, here is my review of the Floodlight Cam E340 if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/M3lNb5fLGGU/видео.htmlsi=Nem1ksZgrqL0TMAb
Can anyone tell me about this cam
Is it compatible with home base 1 ?
This camera is only compatible with the newest HomeBase 3 model.
Why only 100 lumens for the spotlight while the S40 has 600 ?!?
Only reason I can think of is they wanted to prolong battery life on the S340 since it can record from two cameras and can pan and tilt while the S40 is always static with one camera.
It’s 3 times optical zoom not x 😅
The top camera is a wide angle with 3K max recording resolution and the bottom one is 3X optical zoom with max 2K recording resolution.
Most of these reviews are done by people who got the camera for free and were paid to promote their products. 😢
How many frames per second ? Also what is the resolution ?
Reolink seems to be a better camera.
15 FPS and max resolution is 3K if you just have the main camera recording. If you set both the main and telephoto cameras to record, the max resolution is 2K.@@philc824
I haven't reviewed any of Reolink's newest cameras, but the ones I have reviewed have been excellent so far.@@philc824
why can’t they just give us 4K? it’s not that they don’t even have 4K models?
I'm guessing because this model is solar, it's to balance out battery life.
@@DemCrumblies there’s an option to either use the solar panel or to power it up with constant power through USB, 4K is the latest trend we customers will be looking for, because there’s not much difference between 3K & 2K, so sorry to say that
Yea it would have been great to have the option like on the S330 cameras, which have 4K. @@combat_fighter1
I rather have more fps, or interchangeable lenses than 4K.
When I upgraded from my Eufy 2K it was better but, 2K is already plenty on a phone.
@@TobyCostaRica i’m pretty sure there’s an option to set the resolution in the app for live streaming between 4K, 2K & even in 1080p so it’s all up to the phone user which resolution he wants to live view his footage in hahaha especially nowadays so many people are owning newer smartphones like iphone 14 & 15 which supports 4K & 5G
EUFY SOFTWARE IS USELESS
Which area do you have an issue with it? I haven't experienced any crashes with mine, but I do wish they had desktop software too so I could monitor it on my laptop without using their online web dashboard.
If I have 2-3 solo s340 at the same time, can they be connected to the same app at the same time?
Helen NC
Hi Helen, you can add as many of the Solocam S340 to the eufy app as you like, and you can view any of them at any time, but you can only only view one camera feed at a time. The app doesn't allow for simultaneous viewing of all 3 cameras at the same time. Btw, are you in North Carolina?
Yes I am live in NC
