CX410 is still the nighttime value king.
A bit disappointed of how 810 looks without spotlight. Will stick with my 410 for now. Thanks for doing this comparison
Thanks for watching!

LifeHackster part ghost confirmed!
I read somewhere 2k and 1/1.8" sensor on the cx410 is a great combo, 4k needs a bigger sensor to get equal low light performance, your comparison confirms this
LifeHackster, thank you for making these detailed reviews on security cameras. Your detail and comparisons are EXTREMELY helpful and I can’t thank you enough for making these reviews and updates. Greatly appreciated!!
Looks like I'm not going to upgrade anytime soon. Had been waiting for your video on the comparison for a while because your comparisons are mostly on point. Thanks for your video
Thanks for watching!
Been waiting for this one!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. I have the CX410 and love it
Good choice!
Thanks for sharing L.H.
Amazing review, very good. Keep up your great work.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Glad I kept my CX410 cameras, still waiting for a turret version.
Just sold my house with an Reolink setup and just bought a new system for the new house. Installed two track mix cameras yesterday and two more to go. I also have two 810’s on order. I think with a software update the 810s will do better but either way I’m happy with my choice. Thanks for the video comparison.
Thank you for this video. You saved me $$$. I'll keep my CX410s!
Great comparison. It's nice to see an improvement in the HDR footage on the 810 compared to the 410. Now all we need is for it to be released in the UK. 😁
Nice vid. 👍😁
Thanks for watching!
The compression codec for the CX410 is the H.264 codec and for the CX810 is the newer H.265 codec.
I use IR illuminators lamps to light up my front yard. It works great. I can see all the way to the street which is about 100 feet away.
I liked the CX810 until I saw the low light video, And how transparent you look It's a Shame it spoils a nice camera... My Tapo C325wb has perfect picture quality in low light the best I've seen ....
It looks like the Tapo is not POE powered. I'd have tried it.
@@dcotieno It's a shame its not good for you, The nighttime footage is great. The camera has an F1.0 aperture which lets a lot of light in. I have 2 cameras at the front of the house overlooking the road with street lighting and the color video footage is the best I've had...
Grass is looking really good
Thanks 👍
Hy LifeHackster greets from Germ, very good test I bought 2 CX810 after the CX410 and CX410W and hope there'll be an update coming soon for the CX810.🧐
Thanks sir, for the review. I do like the fact it’s in 4K now, but I wonder why the 2k looks better in low light? You’d think that part would be the same hmmm
The pixels are bigger so they can capture more light. I expected cx410 to be better.
i just picked up the cx410 on sale from reolink it'll be my first color x cam well see if i like it
Considering replacing a stock B800 camera with one of these
Think I'll go with the 410
Thanks for the comparisons
Same here. Got two CX410s a while back and no regrets. Night time video quality is a massive upgrade. Be careful about your NVR compatibility for the AI and spotlights on the CX410. I don’t have either as my NVR/B800 system is too old to work with these features. Need to buy a new NVR to unlock these.
Any idea if or when Reolink will have a dome version? Great job as always.
I haven't heard anything. Thanks for watching!
Great video as always. Is there an equivalent Reolink camera to the CX810 but in dome form factor?
Not yet..but I know it is coming… thanks for watching!
I like your camera comparison videos. I feel some people have the expectation that low light sensors can see in complete darkness as if it were daytime is just unrealistic. there will be some ghosting not matter what at higher 8mp resolutions even the 410 at lower res had some ghosting when completely dark. this is probably why the 410 did better when completely dark but if there the tiniest ambient light the 810 will be better. the colors are also not as washed out with spotlights on. I guess that means if you don't want to use any supplemental light in really dark locations the 410 is better. if there is ambient light or daytime detail is a must have then the 810 will be better.
I just moved my cx810 to a second location today. viewing the same area side by side with a 810a and having more fov without a decrease in detail is already a plus both are f4.0 lens. I do notice the cx810 isn't as soft or fuzzy on detail when zoomed in on bare spots in grass and trees compared to the 810a without being over sharpened. on the 810a I have to manually increase the sharpness a bit to equal the cx810 when bit rate is the same. this could be from better compression on the new 810. one thing is for sure the days of black and white infrared are over. I can finally pack up all the ir lights and tidy up. maybe someday low light sensors can can capture daytime detail in complete darkness for the ghosting whines.
I posted on the reolink reddit about a week ago letting them know the HDR on the 410 was broken in the last update from about 2 weeks ago. It was working like the 810 prior to that.
They need to update it..
That ghosting effect is really weird. The Tapo 325wb has pretty similar specs on the sensor, and doesn't have ghosting. I never need to try it in HDR, though.
I think with such a low pricing difference between the 410/810? I think ReoLink knew they wouldn’t wow us with a huge upgrade. I think the only reason I’d go for the 810? Is in “hopes” of firmware/additional upgrades will bring the 810 up where it should be.
Ikr thats what I was saying... Even reolink knew the camera was trash
All these type of reolink cameras are priced at around 100 bucks.
Great comparison video. I agree with your conclusion that the CX410 is the better option. Reolink is currently offering a nice discount on the CX410 which makes it even a better choice. I noticed that the lawn was greener on the CX810 vs CX410. Did you set the contrast, birghtness, saturation, and sharpness parameters to be the same on both cameras? Just curious.
Yes, everything is in auto as I said in the video..
@@LifeHackster I watched the video again and I heard it this time. Thanks!
I believe the CX810 4k lens captures more color hence the saturation. But I'll still stick with the cx410.
Wish they would make dome versions for homeowners. The bullet style isn't the best look for homes imo
Why do you care how they look bro its a camera not a dress
@@VastardokKukiao some people care about how their house looks. I don't know about you, but I don't live in a dump.
It's odd that the resolution at distance test wasn't more definitive between the two cameras. Seems like the 810 should be capturing much more detail.
I got one from Amazon yesterday just to test it out and it just doesn't look good at night so Im gonna return it today 😂
Which model number did you return to Amazon yesterday?
Reolink get to work on the CX dome series please.
Yes i say this on every Reolink video lol
Does your neighbour know that he's spoiling videos for 100s of thousand of viewers ! 🙂
probably does, probably not a coincidence...because people suck
CX810 seems to be best for places with good ambient street lighting like the front driveway. CX410 seems to be best for places that are extremely dark like the rear garden. I don't really mind having the LEDs running all the time so might just get the CX810 for both front and rear. Infrared night vision cameras constantly have their infrared LEDs running at night so im curious to know if there's much power draw difference between something like a RLC-811 using it's infrared LEDs and a 4k equivalent CX810 using its visible LEDs.
Great video.
Thanks for watching! I have a suspicion...this is just an observation and not based on testing or facts. You see a lot of solar powered LED lights but you haven't seen a battery or solar powered IR emitter..well, I haven't seen one yet..I'm assuming it uses up the same or more power than regular LEDs...
@@LifeHackster Thank you for your insight
CX810 isn't even any good in a front driveway scenario. My CX410s crush my CX810 at night in every scenario. I'm honestly thinking of returning it.
@@GeneralLee131 i think i might buy both and return the 1 i dont like. thanks for the idea
@@QH96 Having spotlights on all the time will draw lots of bugs at night, so the "any motion" feature will constantly be triggered. Consider installing a light source away from the camera.
Argus 4 Pro video coming soon?
Aren't these cameras have the traditional infrared night vision mode?
thanks
is there a reason for this issue? the image looks better especially at night for cx410. i experienced the same result with GOpt and GOpt plus. is there any explanation?
Question... at night with no ambient lights, with the spot light off but set set to smart mode, will motion direction turn on the spotlight and then turn off when there is no more motion?
If it is set to smart mode, and it gets too dark, the spotlights will turn ON in dim mode. It will not be off.
I've been astounded by how good the video on my CX410 is at night. Less impressive is the audio quality which is nowhere near the quality of the RLC-810.
the reolink i have does not record anything in the rain or after, are these any better?
There is still hope for an improved torrent style version. Would be good if they came in black, with larger sensor, better HDR. Cannot stand the Bullet style for front of house.
Thank you for the comparison! Appreciate it as I was just looking at the two just yesterday. I’m surprised by the no light difference. I wonder if there is a way for these cams to do pixel binning like smart phones do to increase their low light ability at the cost of resolution…
You are welcome and Thanks for watching! I have a feeling in future security cameras, they will eventually use algorithms like computational video and probably AI to enhance the footage in real time... time will tell.
One thing I don't like about some of these "bullet" camera is no protection of the lens from rain or even sun. I recently installed a wifi Reolink bullet camera and I was frustrated with rain drop blurred out the images. I will have to see if they make an extension. I have a similar issue with the Argus 3.
Good point regarding the lack of a weather shield on the Reolink "bullet "cameras. I have my CX410's mounted under the soffits so they are protected by the weather. It would be nice if Reolink offered a slide-on shield as an option.
Don't like the look of the bullet camera. Waiting for this tech to be on their turret dome cameras.
Put rain-x on to make it hydroscopic
@@jacklewis100 Good idea! Thanks.
I will design a 3D print to address this, if someone hasn't already and print in TPU to stretch slightly around it. Should minimize rain and I need to block a garage light below the camera that ruins the image.
CX810 shows the true colors of your grass and over much better picture quality at a sacrifice of 5 FPS.. Cx410 is a bargain for Price Point and will fit most Peoples budget for a slam dunk security camera. However i would shell out the extra bucks for the CX810 only for the reason of its slightly better with color . Audio is good on both models. Reolink is killing it... on a side note. Ring hasn't updated its products in years.. Please do a review of Reolink ARGUS PRO 4
Na bro cx810 is a big fail
@@VastardokKukiao its only a slight upgrade.. but the colors are sharper.. does that matter when someone trying to rob you? No...
Once again... 5 stars deserved
Thank you. I appreciate it.
This comparison has removed the regret I felt when I seen the CX810 being launched not long after I had installed two CX410s (replacing B800s). I will likely replace all with CX410s now but first need to upgrade the NVR and use the old one as the backup. Not sure what I will do with all my old B800s though 🤷
Can you say what's the latest Reolink NVR model and how long it's been out?
@@gradylucas5265 any on the website currently are compatible is what I was told by Reolink support. Best ask them to confirm so you can return if ends up being incompatible. The camera still work and record to NvR just no AI, spotlights or other newer fringe features.
@@MrBucko1990 Thanks for the reply. I was just wondering if you know what's the latest greatest model, plus I'm trying to get an idea how long its been out so if I buy it now, what's the likelihood a newer model may be released soon. Basically trying to judge if I should delay my purchase.
OK, I have 6 of the RLC810A cameras and each one is running in manual adjustment mode. That is namely Brightness, Contrast, Color and Sharpness, As well as that the night-time black and white settings are also manually set on each camera, I reckon that on the CX810 you will be able to match the night-time color mode with the CX410 if it can also be manually adjusted? Also the sharpness on the CX410 is set lightly too high I think and the CX810 too low. I spent some while matching my camera settings a long while ago and the balance between them is near perfect. Could you try to adjust the CX810 manual settings to see what you could achieve? Certainly the CX810 night-time (no lights on) color mode needs shadows to be lifted. None of my Reolink cameras run in auto mode!
I have played around with it..but 1 thing I noticed is in spotlight OFF, the CX810 is darker than the CX410 but it doesn't handle lens or light flare well compared to the CX410..that means it really cannot match what the CX410's clarity. The highlights will be blown out when you bump up the brightness.
I very much hope that Reolink will see your video, comment on the issues and correct them in a software update. It's crazy for them to have two identical cameras apart from resolution and have such different image qualities.
@ColinGrimshaw they wont.
He has such a nice yard 6:27
Hopefully it will survive this summer heat and water restrictions here...
@LifeHackster yeah hopefully
Hackster, out of curiosity has your neighbor ever asked you if their floodlights are shining a lot into your backyard?
Nope. BTW, those are from 2 houses and 1 of them is on a timer and turns off around 1 am but the other is in dusk to dawn setting.
Do they have any PTZ type cameras that are using theirr COLOR X night color yet that you know of?
Reolink E1 Outdoor CX is PT but no zoom
CX410 is better than CX810 . Not even up for debate.
Hello! I could use your assistance. I only have 10 reolink cameras, but my channels are showing 16, which means there are 6 black boxes because I don't have that many cameras. Is there a way to change the settings to show only the current number of cameras I am using at the time? Thank you so much!
Unfortunately you can only choose 8 or 16 to show on your monitor. If you click on the settings on the NVR, you will see a grid option and choose how many views you want to show.
@@LifeHackster thank you so much for responding!
I think you should at least turn off the lights inside and run it again. The bleeding light through the blinds is definitely wreaking havoc on the low-light aspect of this test (as are, per usual, your neighbor’s ridiculously-inconsiderate floodlights pointed directly at your backyard).
I’m not really sure why a lot of people are missing the point on this. As I said in the video, you are not going to run this with the spotlights OFF. It needs to be in auto or smart mode…which in my setup the spotlights will turn ON.
It doesn’t matter if my indoor lights are ON or my neighbors have lights.. that is real life anyways…what if it is full moon when I tested it?
Thanks for the comparison. You are making a mistake with the positioning of the cameras. Ideally the lights should be behind or on top of the camera. The way you have positioned the cameras they face the lights and this negatively affects their performance at night.
I cannot control my neighbors lights…also this is actually the perfect test to see how the camera handles and how it performs in real life scenario.
Who ya gonna call…Ghostbusters! Oh, sorry it was just a LifeHackster apparition floating by. I would stick with the CX410, but maybe they can tweak the firmware to help the CX810 in time. I’d like to see the look on a Cop’s face if you used that near floating head video to report a crime. He’d be looking for the Ghostbusters or an exorcist. 😂
So disappointing after all the waiting
With the same 1.8-inch sensor, the 2K picture quality is too bright, but the 4K picture quality is too dark. Both performed poorly.
lol.. I bet you are hard to please :) probably they need to make a 3K version.
@@LifeHackster 3K is indeed the best choice
The disadvantage of a large aperture is that even with high resolution, the image quality is very blurry and poor.
I have the E1 CX and it's worse..
👍🌹🌷💐👍
Both are still plagued with the horrible sound quality Reolink introduced a few years back. Before that change you could hear whispers a block away and a gnat fart from 200 feet.
They are all in auto.
So reolink released a trash camera (cx810)? 😂😂😂 I think they already knew that the camera was trash judging by the price difference with the cx410. What a disappointment
Thank you Lifehackster! This is just what I wanted to know :-)
You are welcome.
