I never understood the coward claim. Cowardice isn't being afraid, it is letting the fear stop you from trying, and Krillin is the biggest try hard in the franchise.
I think the movies have a bit to do with it. They made him behave a bit cowardly in a couple of them (if by "cowardly" you mean "understanding you're out of your league and it's better to get the hell out and leave the fight to those who have a chance"), and looks like it stuck more than the creators intended.

In anime, Everyone except krillin attacked 17 and 18 during android saga because he was very scared.
When piccolo,Tien and yamcha went on to help Gohan against cell krillin was discouraging them and ended up going anyway.
Honestly, my favorite Krillin death is his one in the Buu saga since he pretty much knows that he stands no chance, but he is willing to die if it means that everyone else on that lookout has even a chance of escape. Meanwhile, Yamcha just stands there...
When Yamcha said he was retired, he meant it. That's why I like Cell saga Yamcha better than Buu saga Yamcha, even when he knew he was outmatched he, along with Tien, went to the Cell Games. He still had guts.
I mean, I guess he partly saved the day during the OVA that was released in 2008.

Well, it's like Krillin said in movie 10 "None of you guys would have lasted a season without me." Krillin's main role in Z is keeping the team in the game (Especially in the Saiyan-Frieza Sagas), despite how outclassed he is. He saved Gohan from Nappa, Goku from Vegeta (and formed the spirit bomb in the process), keep a dragon ball away from Vegeta on Namek, made a deal with Vegeta that got him on their side for the time (though Vegeta helped work into that), Saved Vegeta from Recoome, Set up the wish that brought Piccolo to Namek, Kept Frieza occupied so Dende could heal Gohan, Reluctantly helped Vegeta power up, and was the Catalyst for the Super Saiyan Transformation. Little guy definitely pulls his weight.

Krillin almost killed Nappa, did the most damage to Recoome before Goku showed up, was the first to do any real damage to Frieza, and he even tackled the breath out of Imperfect Cell. Not bad for a human, let alone a short one. The reason people consider him a weakling is thath he is always where the fights are, even when he should have no business being there. He fails all the time because he tries all the time. Krillin is trooper. Android 18 sure knows how to pick 'em.

let us all remember that even though krillin is outmatched vs superpowered enemies. if any normal fighter tried to take him on, they'd have a nice crater where their face used to be
Krillins tournament matches in Dragonball are a prime example of how damn good Krillin is. Roshi is impressed during the 21st and 22nd; when Krillin uses a Kamehameha against Goku in the 22nd tournament. Krillin also manages to catch Piccolo off guard in the 23rd, due to the fact that Piccolo underestimating him. Krillin survives Nappa and is the one left standing after Vegeta trashes everyone. Krillin's comeback against Freeza's second form was a huge f*ck yes moment. I'm very thankful that they gave him this comeback arc in Super.
Zack Yates Do not foget he showed excellent Ki control in both his Destructo Disc and Scatter Shot Blast techniques early on the series long before Super was even a thing. It is also the reason he able to maintain the remnants of Goku's Spirit Bomb after he was initally twharted by Great Ape Vegeta. Not to mention the many times his quick thinking have allowed the others to last much longer against stronger foes.

I think I'd be cool to have Krillin unlock some sort of amazing human potential that can rival super saiyan. Not only would that give him more to do and show that other human characters could be relevant, but it could also tie in to how human/saiyan mixes seem to have more potential than pure blooded saiyans
Heck just have him train with whis. the whole god ki equaliser and UI would bypass most transformations easily.
@@TGPDrunknHick This is what I like about Ultra Instinct. It has nothing to do with being a Saiyan. Theoretically, any fighter capable of that state of mind can achieve it. It would be a great way to end the "Saiyan dominate everyone" rut the series has gotten into. Not that they will, but they could.
Goku once said on the very old VHS sets that Krillin was the better fighter as far as skill, strategy,and technique but lacks the power to compete against super powerful foes

It's good to see a human that might be able to compete with the Saiyans, as much as I love Dragon Ball in all of it's forms it really does drag earthlings through the mud where the only way they can be as good as the Saiyans is as androids

And even in the androids case they got horribly outclassed by the sayains after the sayains used the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Vegeta went from getting his ass kicked by 18 to humiliating Semi-Perfect Cell.
Rumaskin again that is a systemic problem with dragonball's antagonist set up. the earthlings are never gonna be competitive to saiyans at this point, but you can still have them involved if they are fighting groups of compelling villains and not just 1 or 2 big bads that face off against goku and or vegeta at the end anyways. think of how the super 13 movie was setup. it gave everyone involves a chance to fight, even though by modern standards they were boring fights that ended with everyone turning super saiyan but that's not the current issue. the fights need to have more technical prowess put into them as well. they can't be fights that just throw fans a bone which super is currently in the trap of doing. they need to matter and affect the characters in the fight.
I mean... Sayan elite are Nappa / Vegeta saiyan saga level. Pretty op back then but now?

I mean, even if they get like 100 zenkai boost and manages to unlock the super sayan (Wont appen as they are evil.) no way they could ever catch up. Goku and Vegeta also trained non stop alone or with superior beings, and got op thanks to their hard work and race capability. But only these two sayan did it.
Imagine if in episode 76, Super 17 showed up and Krillin just says "I Dont know who you are, but i feel like you killed me at one point"!

1. Super 17 killing Krillin (and Super 17 in general) happened in GT, therefore non-canon.
2. even if it was canon, that happened many years after Super.

kainhighwind2 well he shaved his head when he was in the martial artist mindset. I guess it's something that helps him get into that more disciplined mindset. Think about how he prepared for freizas revival. He shaved his head. When the crisis was over, he grew his hair out a bit more. He was still a cop and a brave fighter, but there is a specific mindset to the martial artists of dragon ball.

When Krillin is first introduced, he chides Goku for not having shaved his (Goku's) head. Krillin claims that as Master Roshi shaves his head, all those serious about the martial artists must follow his example as a sign of discipline. Master Roshi then points out he went naturally bald. It's a joke. However, as a testament to his training, Krillin continues to go bald whenever he takes on the martial artist mindset. Krillin shaving his head so often is also a visual allegory for his struggle over his retirement from martial arts. It has nothing to do with nostalgia.
It really is a shame he doesn't have Saiyan biology. He'd be unstoppable at this point.

in my opinion the destructo disk is the strongest attack as with it he could cut freeza despite the huge difference in power
I started watching Dragon Ball before Z, and I have always liked Krillin. I think that he's the most human (literally and figuratively) character in Dragon Ball. He gives the audience something to connect and empathize with. Krillin isn't a coward, he feels how we are supposed to feel if we were dropped into the mad situations of DBZ. He has had some great battles in the past, and he doesn't get cast aside like Tien and Yamcha because he has the deepest and most entertaining character out of the entire cast.
Way to give Krillin the respect that he deserves.

Krillin in Super makes Yamcha look like a God.
Keep in mind these villains KILLED him. Even if he's been brought back via the Dragon Balls time and time again, the memory of them dealing the finishing blow would haunt him 'till he dies for good.

Awww, I've always loved Krillin. He IS strong, no matter what anyone says. I also love his personality. One example is when he makes fun of Hercule and the other humans at the Cell Games. So, regardless of what anyone else says, I think he deserves his spot on Universe 7's roster of fighters.
I would like to see a tournament where all fighters' power levels are equalized - skill wins out.

I have a small shrine to krillin in my home gym, him along with the thing from fantastic four are my personal heroes their undying loyalty, sacrifice for the good of others and never say die attitude taught me in part to be the man I am today....a slightly grizzly short fighty bald guy with friends of pure gold.
I, myself have never characterized Krillin like the caricature coward many see him as. In many ways, Krillin is the most realistic among the Z fighters. He was a kid, cocky, yet lonely. He wanted to be a martial artist in the hopes he could meet someone that way. Once he met that someone who accepted him for him, he could be happy knowing he has that(and this character arc makes more sense for him than it does Gohan). The way he responds to dangerous situations makes sense, and when you notice, he's almost never ran away from a fight. He's a sane human being, not a coward.

I think TFS Trunks hit the nail on the head when he told Krillin that if he had Saiyan anatomy, he'd be the strongest of all of them. I think if I were Krillin, I'd probably gather the dragon balls and make that wish. That and I'd wish for a duplicate of all the Namekians for Piccolo to absorb and become a SUPER NAMEKIAN GOD!!
I'm not sure where you got that from my comment. He's placed in those situations where he's fighting stronger opponents than himself, which is where Saiyans become stronger. That was the meaning of Trunks' comment, and the meaning of my comment. Because Krillin is constantly getting his butt kicked, if he were a saiyan, he would be the strongest of all of them. It's hyperbole, but when did TRAINING even become a topic of discussion.

I want to see what happens when Goku passes his SSJ Blue God ki to Krillin. They frequently pass power to each other (at least in the movies), and I can't help but wonder if it's easier to become a God if you've been given (or borrowed) the power of a God. Since SSJ God power is more focused and controlled energy. Also, Krillin should ask Goku to take him to train under King Kai. Krillin Kaio Ken!

knowing krillin's history is what makes super's treatment of him infuriating. they made him a coward. suddenly because he retired he is at the status of never fought ever and being bullied by cannon fodder. that's like kenshin or yahiko retiring and getting bullied by kendo students upon their first fight back. it makes no sense especially since they can sense power levels.
I've never questioned and have always, ALWAYS, recognized Krillin's importance to the story. I'm glad you've covered this.

He attacked Buu to save his wife and daughter, even knowing how outmatched he was. That seems pretty heroic to me.
Krillins best moment is when he fights imperfect cell to save that little girl while cell is chasing him on the airplane.
The real question is..Why the hell is Roshi there?

Yeah that is the best question.... I think it just boils down to the fact that he will add comedic moments to the show.
I doubt he is much stronger then he was when Bulma put the scouter on him.
(ignoring the fact he can bulk up, he'd be something like 300 area power level vs what was it 130?)
But even if he began training him self on his free time for what ever reason it would be very hard for him to catch up to any meaningful point.
It would of made more sense if they asked Yamcha to take up fighting again and join the team.
Yamcha has not trained or done anything in the longest time.
But he is still one of the strongest people in the universe when you use the Frieza arc to put things in prospective.
The Ginyu Force has the strongest people in the universe besides Frieza who never seen a reason to go beyond his first form of a power level of 500 000 something.
I feel even this out of practice he'd easily beat the Ginyu Force and likely Frieza's first form.
So I still feel he is one of the strongest non god fighters in the universe.
But would still be the weakest on the team.
But yeah pretty sure Roshi is there for comedy reasons.

imo yamacha in the bu arc could probably have one shot nammek, ssj goku and final form Frieza with one blast.

I've always been a fan of Kuririn and you perfectly summed up why. He's stronger than people give him credit for, he's reliable, smart and a great friend. Plus, he often is a really funny character to watch too. I'm glad he's back and even if he should turn out not to be able to hold his own, he'll be a valuable addition to the team.

Krillin is actually my second or third favorite character, because of pretty much everything you talked about. It's nice to see the Krillmaster get some love and appreciation.

Because he's Yamcha.
All overused jokes aside, chances are he's not present because he no longer has the fighting spirit. Pretty much what happened to Krillin, except it happened sooner in the series and Yamcha didn't have a daughter and a hot android wife to motivate him. Roshi seems to still like combat, considering he showed up to fight Friezas army, so he might have stayed in relatively fine form while Yamcha dropped fighting entirely.
Roshi is an immortal martial arts master. Honestly I wish he had never gotten the shaft in the first place. I think it could be interesting to see what he does in the upcoming Tournament.
Immortal doesn't mean unkillable though. He died once after using the Mafuba.

AWESOME !!!!!! I stayed in Florida in 2007/2008/2009 and stayed in a house that looked exactly like the one in the background, the one I stayed in even had a pool and a jacuzzi and a see through roof over it too!!!!!
Krillin has always been my favorite Dragonball character, and I've been hoping for a comeback from him for a very long time.

Toriyama says a lot of wrong things. "Why do people think he's weak?" Probably because every time you see him in a major conflict, he's whimpering or being beaten up. Or, you know, not fighting at all and being injured by bullets. Disagreeing that Krillin is the strongest human isn't a slight to Krillin - it's a compliment to Tien. Tien's ONLY character motivation is wanting to grow stronger. Krillin just wanted to get laid. The only reason why he's considered the strongest human by Toriyama is because he's main character #2, and Goku's best friend. That's it. Going by what everyone can plainly see, Krillin is a good enough character, but he's not very strong, and has a lot of problems with bravery compared to everyone else.

kknives for real. that guy trains every damn day. it's sad that the most honorable warrior of the cast isn't used almost ever. he made a random appearance during buu rocking a sweet blue outfit but that's about all near the end.
tien isn't human...he's some weird triclops/human hybrid. so Technically Krillin is the strongest 100% human being..according to toriyama at least.

I was just staying in Utah 3 months earlier. With some relatives.
Krillin has been my favourite character pretty much since I started watching Dragon Ball. These past couple of episodes, as well as the upcoming arc (and this video of course) have made me very hopeful about Super. I hope they don't stop here; it would be great if Tien, Piccolo and many other characters who have been left behind come back to relevancy.
You should do a video on how the story would have played out if Krillin had killed Freiza on Namek with the solar flare + distructo disk. He could have done this easily.

I haven't played much of Fighterz as of yet but I've done an amazing job with Krillen - Super has brought so much more respect to the character.
