Watching this after the recent episode where we get shows universe 7 is actually one of the worst universes, I now understand why the gods were so bloody lazy. They were actually supposed to be very active, with the gods of destruction actually wiping out the weaker planets, with the kais testing what works and what doesn't.
I am imagining universe 1's gossip: "Oh deary me, Universe 7's kais are being killed by chewing gum, uuuuuuuuuuhhh again."

The Pecking Order:
-Mortals, this is dirt level of the pecking order, all organisms that reside on planets and have no authority over the day-to-day lives of the planet in question, unless they’re a warlord or an agent of one of the higher beings.
-Every inhabited planet has a Guardian, a being that protects said planet either from outside forces or themselves, if they feel the inhabitants should be brought down a peg.
-Every planet has a King that governs the dead, residing in a checking station where the dead either come as ghosts or physical representations, depending on their heroism in their mortal life, where they’re either sent to Hell, Heaven, their respective King Kai’s for training, the Supreme Kai’s sacred planet, if they deem it, or the God of Destruction’s planet. The checking station remains, even if the planet is destroyed. Where a person dies decides which checking station they’re sent to, as Frieza was sent to Earth’s checking station, while Krillin was sent to Namek’s. If they’re reborn, they get sent to the planet of the checking station they were sent to, even if that planet is no more.
-Every planet resides within a quadrant: north, south, east and west, that each have a King Kai governing them, acting as a guardian over all the planets in that section, and each have a planet in Other World that’s connected to all the planet’s checking stations via a Snake Way.
-Every Universe has a Grand Kai, who acts as the superior for all King Kais and is therefore the guardian of all the planets in that Universe. The difference between a Grand Kai and Supreme Kai is that the Grand Kai protects what the Supreme Kai creates.
-Every Universe has a God of Creation (Supreme Kai) and God of Destruction, they’re generally considered equals, as if one dies, so does the other. This position can be shared with others if the job is too much, resulting in four smaller Supreme Kais (And maybe Gods of Destructions?) that, much like the King Kai’s, govern a Quadrant to create or destroy within. The Supreme Kais create planets and life while the Gods of Destruction destroys planets to balance the Universe. Each Supreme Kai has an attendant that helps the Supreme Kai in their duties and are automatically bestowed healing powers and the God of Destruction may have an apprentice who will become the next God of Destruction. They can even employ mortals to act as their right hand men and either create or destroy in their name.
-Each God of Destruction is taught and guided by an Angel attendant who are children of the Grand Priest. It’s their job to keep the God of Destruction in line in case their rampant destruction goes unchecked. If a God of Destruction dies, the Angel will disappear and await the appointment of a new God of Destruction.
-All the Universes are governed by the Grand Priest who is the one to foresee all the activities each Universe goes through and each of the Supreme Kai’s, Gods of Destruction or Angels report to him directly.
-All of creation is beneath the King of All: Omni-King: Zeno. He is in charge over if a new Universe is created and which are destroyed. He is the highest form of authority in all of creation, whatever he says goes.
-Popo.
mega sean the whole every planet having a Check-in station thing is a bit weird to me. honestly, the better way to resolve that situation would've been to just wish back Namek.
also, one thing, between Zeno and Popo should be Tori-Bot. Because that is actually a thing, even if I doubt it'll actually be acknowledged in-...universe? In-multiverse?

also, an interesting thought, if killing all the Supreme Kais kills Beerus, maybe that was Bibidi's true reason for attacking the world of the Kai's? I mean, the Kais themselves were basically ignoring his and Buu's rampage, so it's not like they were a direct threat on their own.

I wonder this too. I think it would be pretty awesome if they show his power to be close to Zeno, possibly in a creation way as a contrast to the destructive nature of Zeno. (Similar to the way the Supreme Kais are at least similar to Destruction Gods) It would explain how the Super Dragon Balls are so powerful and how they could undo things done by Zeno. Anyone who makes a set of DBs that capable must hold great power, as Shenron wasn’t able to destroy Nappa/Vegeta since Kami’s power did not exceed theirs.
Maybe zalma was the fusion of all of the namekians it would be cool to see piccolo fuse with all the surviving namekians to form zalma

Most Kais look like King Kai, tho. And the more human-like ones are usually either Kaioshin themselves or Makaioshin.

Jokes from Abridged aside Mr. Popo is a weirdly strong person. His official power level, at the time of the Saiyan Saga, was equal to Raditz and, as of the Buu Saga, he's strong enough to easily block attacks from two Super Saiyans without breaking a sweat. He's a weird being and I'd love to see you look more into him.

Toriyama is mentioned in universe as the highest being of the cosmology. Also, "Zeno" is not a proper noun; it's literally Japanese for All-King.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is one more god of everything which is Zeno's counterpart. You know, Yin and Yang.. like Jesus and Lucifer in real life etc.. there's always a counterpart that balance everything. And who knows, maybe that Zeno counterpart have his own personal army of gods in a negative universe that mirrors the 12 universes etc and the final battle will happen in the 13th universe lol XD that would be so mess hahaa
I haven't been watching Super, but my brother watches it adamantly. The way he explained the new Supreme Kai developments, and how I have come to understand his explanation, is that East Supreme Kai, Shin, inherited the role of Grand Supreme Kai by default by being the only one left alive after the whole Buu incident. This is why he's just called "Supreme Kai" instead of East or Grand, because he's the ONLY one left.
This is evident when it's explained that Zamasu chose Future Trunks' timeline to make his mark because he could destroy planets there, on account of Beerus not existing due to his symbiotic relationship with the Grand Supreme Kai. Shin(who is the Grand Supreme by default) died fighting Dabura in this timeline, so Beerus died too. The only way to justify this symbiotic relationship being a thing in the present timeline, what with Grand Supreme Kai dying to Majin Buu and all, is if Shin DID in fact inherit the position by default.
Does this make sense? Am I in the ballpark?

With the introduction of Gowasu and Zamasu, it really makes it apparent how Universe 7's divine beings, well, don't really have names. We know them just by their titles, ie King Kai, Supreme Kai, heck, even Kami was a case of that. It's just odd in hindsight.
well, in Kamis case....Kami was his actual name by choice. just like his evil half started calling himself Piccolo. the one that again has no name, was who originally split into the two.

Kais are born from a special fruit, but Supreme Kais are born from a very special golden fruit that is particularly rare. We're not sure of the actual birthrate, but it seems to be very, very low for Supreme Kais at the very least.
Shin F I've heard the same thing, but Zamasu was being promoted to Supreme Kai, which suggests that there's another way to get there.

I think more to to do with an Apprentice thing, like we seen with the Supreme Kai of universe 10 (Gowasu) & Zamasu.
By the sound the Goku Black Arc; It would be been many aeons before Gowasu gave Zamasu -- That is if he didn't turn into a genocidal maniac -- a seat. Not to mention Supreme Kai of universe 7 (Shin) isn't really looking for any kind of Kaioshin Apprentice, as far we've seen...so yeah, I don't we'll ever see the seats filled any time soon.

Ok I have a question. If there are 5 supreme kais, is Beerus' life linked to all of them? or just to Shin? Do all of them have to die for Beerus to die as well? Where are the other supreme kais of the universe where Gowasu is a supreme kai? Why aren't they around to help with all the Zamasu issue?
Ok, those were more than one question...
Yes, all of them have to die in order for Beerus to die. The balance is between the forces of creation and destruction, not between the gods themselves. Right now his life is linked only to shin and possibly also Elder Kai since they are the only Supreme Kais left..
We don't know if there are any other Supreme Kais in universe 10. There doesn't seem to be a rule for this so one universe may have several while others only have 1.
Chinchu Rodríguez : technically there should be 4 supreme kais and 1 grand supreme kai....the same goes for king kais ..but the story was modified and edited for the db super especially the black arc
Toriyama routinely forgets things, and doesn't really care about continuity all that much. Last he remembered was probably East and Elder Kai being together, so he must have figured every universe had an elder-student pairing.
In-universe, it can easily be explained away. Either Universe 7's system of 5 Kais is not is not necessarily applicable to every other universe, or something happened to the other Kais of Universe 10, just like the ones from 7.
to drag the story longer or create a new one modification in dbz story is necessary...

I think Toriyama completely forgot that there were 4 other Supreme Kais lol... Because that retcon whereby a God of Destruction is linked to that Universe's Supreme Kai created somewhat of a paradox. Or at least confusion...because when that happen it was painfully obvious that Toriyama just forgot his plot.

There are a few characters missing.
Most notably, the Grand Priest, who is stated to be among the 5 most powerful fighters in the multiverse. Depending on whether Zeno himself is counted in that list, that gives us 4 to 5 additional deities between Zeno and the angels.
This means that the hierarchy of gods we know of looks something like...
Zeno > 3-4 unseen deities > Grand Priest > 12 Angels > 12 Gods of Destruction > Goku, Vegeta and Trunks
This means that Goku and Vegeta, i.e the main cast of DBS who are likely able to crush universes between their fingers by this point, are only barely in the top 30 of the most powerful characters in the series.

When I saw this I was like "oh god... someone using the whole 'pecking order' joke in their video! Aren't the comments enough?" Then I realized it was Masako, and I stopped being mad.
Actually Zeno is not the top of the pecking order, there is one above everyone else, that happens to be the toribot, toriyama. He is the end all be all of the dragon world.

I wouldn't mind an arc where Supreme Kai had to preserve balance and finally find candidates to take the dead Kais' positions, but the usual Saiyans couldn't commit, so side characters like Chiaotzu, Ox King, and Videl are given a chance to showcase their potential.
Imagine Gohan and Videl's struggles if she turned out to be a prime candidate to become a Kai, with the benefit of unlocking mystic powers within her and helping save the universe, but it would require her to move away from the family.

Gabriel D Super Dragonballs dude. It'd center around Shin's wish to transform people whose character he respected into the new shinjin, especially in lieu of recent events that reflected the potential corruption among them.
And you're acting like Dragonball uses sound continuity logic for any of these plots. I'd at least prefer some storylines that featured some real character building like the old days, and not just more Saiyan power creep.

Idk man I'm thinking Toriyama and Toei are doing away with the 5 supreme kais, why did Universe 6 only have one supreme kai and an attendant? Why were the only kais shown in Universe 10 Gowasu and Zamasu, with Gowasu being the supreme kai and Zamasu his apprentice? Or maybe Universe 7 was an oddity back in the day and Zen chan was just like do whatever you want. Just spit balling

I'm guessing that there is no actual rule on how many Kaioshin any universe can have. According to an old databook a new Kaioshin is born naturally once in a blue moon from the golden fruits of the sacred world, and as we saw with Zamasu it is also possible for a lesser Shinjin to grow strong enough to eventually become a Kaioshin, so who knows how many there can actually be at any given moment. It is also possible that Shin and the other Kaioshin of his time were just apprentices like Zamasu was and that the title just naturally passed to Shin when the others died.

For those asking why there are two Kais for each quadrant, it's actually quite simple: The Lower Kais watch over their respective quadrant of their respective *universe*, while the Supreme Kais watch over their respective quadrant of the *multiverse*. For example, the East Kai of Universe 7 watches over all the galaxies in the East of Universe 7, while the East Supreme Kai watches over the three Eastern Universes (since there are twelve universes, so 12 divided by 4 makes 3).

He's just a Supreme Kai from an older era who managed to survive to the current era by being trapped in a sword. If he's discounting Majin Buu, who ate and fused with a Supreme Kai, then Old Kai, who is fused with a witch, may not really count as one either. But that's sort of a cop-out.
What he DID forget was Kabito and the other presumed "servant" gods, which might include the oni, and the devils that we see every so often.

Also I thought each universe was like this:
1 Grand Supreme Kai -> 4 Supreme Kais -> 4 (maybe 16) Grand Kais -> 4 x (number of Grand Kais) normal Kais, each in charge of a galaxy.
Our universe has a LOT more than 4 galaxies. I just assumed there were more than 4 in dragonball.
Shin is the grand supreme kai because he is linked with Berus as all other grand supreme kais are with their gods of Destruction. It makes sense to look at it that way. Also Im calling it right now that super shenron is the original creator of all and the father of Zen-oh but to contain his own power and disperse properly he became super shenron

I like that Kami was localized just as "Kami" in the English dubs, probably to avoid triggering christians, but the Kaio were localized as King Kais and the Kaioshin as Supreme Kais, all just to avoid calling somebody God.

Plot twist, Zeno has a father, and he simply gave Zeno some universe to play around with while he over sees the truly grand realities.
I think the reason Shin keeps coming back to Earth is pretty simple: the dudes lonely. Think about it: in the Buu arc, we see way back when before Kid Buu showed up, Shin lived with the other four kais... and that's about it. The way the five of them acted in those flashbacks seemed a lot more like a family then the competitive nature of the King Kais. They were the people he was closest to... then one day, Majin Buu shows up, and slaughters them all, leaving him alone. Since then, the only person we ever see him with is Kibito, and that's always struck me as more of a servant/master relationship then a friendship.
So Shin is stuck pretty much all by himself for X amount of millennia... then he meets Goku and the gang. Suddenly he's stumbled across this tight-knit group of friends who, at least from Goku and family, welcome him with open arms, and treat him like just one of the guys. He keeps coming back to Earth because, for the first time in a long time, he has something to come back to.

Wait a second. So King Kai gets to stick around after he dies, but not West Supreme Kai or North Supreme Kai, or Future Shin? That's.....odd. Do Supreme Kais stop existing after they've died? No wait, Elder Kai gave his life to Goku and still stuck around. Is that because he technically wasn't a Supreme Kai anymore? And what about the 80 Shinjin thing? Is there a Kaishin in every universe, or is there one Kaishin near the center of the multiverse? No, that can't be, otherwise there wouldn't be enough to fill every position in the multiverse. Are there just 70 other Shinjin in each universe waiting for someone to no longer exist so they can fill their shoes? Are the Shinjin who aren't Kings, Grands, Supremes, or Grand Supremes immortal? There are so many questions I have, and I haven't even gotten to the demon realm stuff yet!!!!

Whats weird is tho, the God of Destriction is linked to the Kaioshins life. does that mean he's linked to only 1 of the 5, or all 5 at once. Also if there is a Dai-Kaioshin, shouldn't he be linked to that one? Then we also now that all those Kai's are just titles. Considering theres the Shinjin race. Whitch are born fro ma tree. Rare fruits become Kaios i guess, while normal ones become their servants. Cause from Gowasu we know that the Kaioshin pick theyre successors from Kaios. But where does the Daikaio fit in? Especially when there are only 4 Kaios ? What happens when a fifth Kaio is born? Or does that simply not happen? Also how does the God of Destruction fit into that. We know for a fact that Whis offered the position to Goku, if Beerus at some point can't fill the role anymore. On the other hand it is stated that if the God of Destruction dies, his servant looses all his power, so how could Whis give the role to Goku. or anyone for that matter. And if he can, how does that connect to the Kaioshins again.

and thanks to some of the more updated episodes we learn that Supreme Kai and Beerus share a Kami/Piccolo type relationship where if one dies so does the other one. Which makes this way more interesting
You forgot to ass Whis, he must hold some sort of divine role in order to be the mentor of the God of Destruction and find and train suitable heirs to the "throne" for when Beerus dies.

I believe your math may be off. Remember that the North, South, East, West, and Grand Kais are only in charge of *Earth's Galaxy.* If we assume that each galaxy has its own set of compass Kai with a Grand Kai overseeing them, then that boosts the numbers by quite a great deal.
Zeno's boss is Toriyama. And Toriyama's boss is us, the readers of manga, viewers of anime and players of games. We went full circle, didn't we?
I don't understand by Beerus is linked to Kaioshin. That would only make sense if there originally were either A.) A single Supreme Kai or B.) Our Kaioshin was the original Daikaio (Grand Supreme Kai). Kaioshin is the East Supreme Kai. If Beerus were the East God of Destruction then it could make sense, but as far as we know, there is one God of Destruction only in every universe. So maybe it makes sense because Kaioshin is the new Daikaio since all the other Supreme Kais are dead? Well that still wouldn't make much sense because Beerus should have been linked to the original Daikaio in that case and should have died when he became the essence of Good Buu a.k.a. was absorbed and ceased to be.
The only way I can see this odd paring make sense is if Kaioshin and Beerus became gods at the same time. This is total headcanon but I can't think of another way this makes sense. Beerus quite possibly wasn't the original God of Destruction for Universe 7, this we know but there is no evidence. Kaioshin seems younger than the other Supreme Kais, which means it's possibly true (though we've all pretty much just assumed that's simply how he looks) and we know that Elder Kai was his predecessor. If that's the case, Kaioshin and Beerus might have been linked because they were the two most recent gods in Universe 7. Of course, if you consider that it was Beerus that put Elder Kai in the Z Sword then this whole thing is totally busted anyway huh?
The only other way I can see it is that Beerus is linked to ALL the Supreme Kais and as long as there is one left he can live. So his link with Kaioshin is simply by proxy of the others not being there. I still don't know why Universe 6 only had one Supreme Kai and his attendant make an appearance instead of the five that should in theory be there, or why Universe 10 seemed to have only one Supreme Kai (Gowasu) and a Supreme Kai in training (Zamasu) and the God of Destruction of Universe 10 is never seen for some reson. It almost implies that Universe 7 had way more Kais than other Universes. It's possibly an odd retcon and all Universes have only one Supreme Kai. I don't know why that decision would have been made because Buu is still a character and his backstory was pretty important to the lore, what with killing gods and stuff. I'd excuse it as "Toriyama's forgetful" but when he has people reminding him of tiny details of the past like the Mafuba or Piccolo's antennae lasers...I find it hard to believe no one would have brought up one of the few things previously known about the gods from Z.
