When I stated "non-organic" contents could be placed in capsules; I meant to state anything that isn't 'alive'. People are deemed unsafe to travel via capsule. Food is safe to transport in capsules though.

"Toriyama, he always looks for a way to do everything with the minimum effort" In terms of story-telling, this is 100% true. Capsules were one of the first of the many, many, many deus ex machinas Toriyama used in DB- the Dragon Balls themselves, Setsu beans, Nameckian Dragon Balls (to work around the limits of the original DBs), all the diffrent Super Saiyan levels, fusion, and all the other transformations. I love Toriyama for his art, character design and fight scenes, but the way he just makes the story up as he goes, then pulls some magical object/tech/transformation out of nowhere when he writes himself into a dead end, is just ridiculous; Nothing in the DB universe has any consequences, because if say someone dies, you know Toriyama will just use the Dragon Balls, or some other deus ex, to bring them back.

Here's a question for you Masako; unrelated to capsules but I'll comment it here: Majin Buu's origins are completely unknown to us, yet it's been stated he was here since the very beginning of the universe and time. He could be millions, or billions of years old Nobody knows for certain.
Do you think Kid Buu could have been a creation from the Omni King as an attempt to make a friend? Could the power of Majin Buu be the original being that rivaled the Omni ---King's Power? Or was he created as a means to fight the Gods by unknown-evil beings who wanted to uproot the Gods' Order?
On that note, I'm curious about something else too. Good Buu as he stands in Super is currently not as powerful as Kid Buu near end of DBZ due to Kid Buu spitting him out. What form do you think he would revert back into if Good Buu now were too spit out the old Supreme Kai still inside him?
Keep up the great work, thanks for making us all think and wonder!

Thanks Masako, I would LOVE to see more videos delving into the larger world of *Dragonball* that don't necessarily revolve around the main characters. It's one of the most fascinating, imaginative, unique, and yet in some ways surprisingly believable mythologies in the history of anime. *These are just a few ideas for future discussion topics, feedback is welcome:*
*1. Anthropomorphic Animals-* What's their story? Creatures that naturally evolved to form human traits & intelligence? Experiments from a bygone era of scientific history that were eventually legally emancipated to live freely among humans?
How was a DOG elected King (talk about progressiveness)? Why are wild dinosaurs still around, and how does humanity coexist with them? Why did Toriyama create these characters and what role do they play in Dragonball's overall world?
*2. How The Government In Dragonball Works-* Why is there a King instead of a President? If the current Dog-King dies, would his heir be another dog or a different animal altogether? Should this world in your opinion (based upon the portrayal of society in the manga & anime) be a Monarchy, Constitutional Republic, or a Democracy?
*3. How In Your Opinion Would You Have Ended Dragonball Compared to Toriyama, Had It Been Up To You*

The capsule logic is sorta like the PokeBall theory it's put in the capsule it will be destroyed and copied but it's data is compacted into a single small capsule that when released will create the car, house bike or even a planes. so capsule from dragon Ball, dragon Ball z, dragon Ball GT and dragon Ball super, are almost the same as poke balls, but the capsule can't keep living things in it like the PokeBall. and becuase the structure of humans and the brain would be gone leaving possibly a destroyed human or a living creatures that roms the earth with no memory's and no emotion, but food is able to be used in the capsule becuase it's not living it's dead and has no memory to keep, and the next thing is how did they seem to create this magic Device, well I don't know, but it's probly very complex, but I'm guessing it would be becuase of jaco, a character from dragon Ball super, a high tech alien from the time space police, well he would have been my first thought that he is the one to help make the capsule, I don't know alot about Jaco only that he's a apart of the time space police and a coward.

  • @RedwoodTheElf

the most likely operating principle for the capsule is that they open a portal into another dimension, into which the stored item is shunted, and from which it is pulled back out when the capsule is activated. The capsule itself takes the item's place in the dimensional pocket until the vehicle's "Capsulate" button is activated, which swaps them again.

  • @rashkavar

The thing about converting other vehicles into Capsule vehicles makes sense. It's not reasonable for CapsuleCorp to try to claim the entire market of vehicles, houses, etc. That's like Apple saying "We're going to go for producing every computer, every mp3 player, and every phone on the market." If that was their goal, they wouldn't make a windows compatibility mode for iPods and a Windows version of iTunes. Only it's 100 times worse because phones, computers and mp3 players are all basically the same kind of circuitry. Aircraft engineering and house construction are VASTLY different kinds of technology. Companies have tried to get into industries they don't have a good handle on...it almost inevitably ends in bankruptcy or the rapid sale of the new component of the business thats dragging the rest of the company down with it.
Converting competitors goods into Capsules is just good business - it gets them money they otherwise would never have made.

I like to think that capsules are actually Nano-bot storage devices, when storing, the nanites crawl over the area (in that cloud) and create a perfect blueprint of the device and breaks it down into energy, releasing it into the environment/dust. When you "release" the nanites, they get to work drawing from the environment and the stored nanites energy to recreate the objects based on that perfect blueprint. Energy in DB seems to be a lot more dense and available than in our reality.

Maybe you can store organic matter as long as it is stored in an inorganic container. That would explain how Bulma stored the dead bodies of Krillin and Roshi.

+Cmckerracher - It would certainly make travel and goods transport a lot easier...
Got 1000 tonnes of ore that needs transporting? Stick it in a capsule and drive it over to the processing plant in no time flat.
Got too much luggage to take on a flight, zip it all up into a single capsule and store it in your carry-on bag.
It would ruin a few industries, for sure, but it would make life easier for everyone else...

ok I had no idea about the "you can convert a non-capsule corp products into CapsuleCorp capsules" part, that is even more awesome
as for what I would put... most likely my wardrobe, a box with all the stuff I like to keep but rarely use & perhaps an RV (or since is the DBZ universe perhaps an airship with enough room to have a gaming room)

I feel as though it's a little weird when it comes to vehicles in the Dragonball Universe having a hodge-podge of real life cars and fictional, generic vehicles alongside. Bulma's Renault 5 Turbo that Goku totals, the Ferrari Dino hovercar you mentioned, and the picture of Goku driving the McLaren MP4/4. It all kinda seems odd having real and fictional cars next to each other in a medium.

The answer is - Cloud computing. Capsules are just on/off switches for teleport beams that are somewhere else. Think about it, it would be waaaay cheaper to build space stations with storage spaces and teleports rather than try to put it in small capsule. Also, conservation of mass exist.

I would use the capsules for housing research facility if i could ever afford one to bring to a site that needed them. The other option would be to store artifacts for bringing to a research facility to keep it safe from harm or contamination as i don't think the capsule form change keeps the dirt or debris around it from affecting whats inside. The one limit i think is the capsule making machines themselves i think which could make them location targets for bandits or military locations like the red ribbon army.

I take it you where using the USD. Anyway the thing I love most about the capsules is they aren't a one time use. You just hit a switch and back in it goes. So often stuff like tent in a pill is one way. Add water and poof a tent but now its stuck as a tent. As for what I'd stick in a capsule well a high powered computer and a good screen, maybe even a desk and chair too. I travel a bit so I have laptops. I'd like more power but on the go is much more important to me. If I could have both it be sweet. Pop over to work, drop the capsule and boom have my pc for break time. Going over to a friends, well now we got extra computers.

I'm fairly certain the main problem with the capsule being used on living things is air supply. If they actually store something in a static state, then air would be something to keep to a minimum.

I'd probably be happy with just two; one for my bike and another to simply use as a backpack. Perhaps I'd like a third to use as a travel case when I need it... having to find the space to place a relatively large chest every time I need my school books seems rather inconvenient, so I'd really need one for small storage and one for large storage...

If you think about it Capsule Corp likely made most of their money in bulk goods shipping. The Hoi Poi capsule reduces functional MASS of objects, along with volume. This is a massive cheat and radically changes bulk commerce. For example, when massive 1.8 million pound power plant transformers blow you can't really build a new one on site. Which means transportation. Look up the one that got moved from New Mexico to California back in 2015. Expensive, slow, and required a specialized hauler, plus a police escort. Sticking one in an L Capsule for a few thousand dollars and flying it from NM to CA in hours.... massive cost reduction.
Then we get the implications for space travel and orbital construction. Boosting anything out of Earth's gravity is expensive because of the poor efficiency lift fuels/systems we have to use. So you either find more lift for your energy, or lift more for the same energy. Hoi Poi capsules again reduce mass and volume. For the weight limits they are extremely effective, and can move masses pre-constructed objects to orbit. To a point that it would be financially feasible for Capsule Corp alone to fund an Orbital Ring supporting either Sky Hooks or full Space Elevators. Stick a Encapsulating Machine in a space craft and you have a way to go mine asteroids and bring back what would be otherwise rare metals very inexpensively.

4:25 In order to take something big and make it small, it first needs to be converted in an atomic level. Meaning everything those capsules have been fit into would have to be converted into Atoms. Then said atoms get compressed and stored in a container. Said container must come with a pre-programmed circuit, that allows the conversion to be two way, by storing the information on how these atoms to items and vice versa can be converted in a certain way. It's basically the transporter from Star Trek all over again.

What I'd personally use it on, hmm.. well I'd store the car and bicycle in them to not risk them getting stolen at night for sure.
I'd probably also store things I rarely use in some form of storage container that's again in the capsule system (since we can see that anything inside of a house for instance is kept when the house is converted back to a capsule).l Aside from that, I'm honestly not sure, but if I were to ever go camping or similar, I'd probably have a small hut of some sort in capsule form.

If the capsules were real, my car for sure. The first couple weeks of college and some places are a pain to find parking. Save me some time looking for parking. Anytime I go some where and parking looks bad, I think every time I wish Capsule Corp was real or I wish I had a wing pack from Tales of Symphonia. In ToS, they have a boat for some sections in the game but later they get Rheairds, personal flying machines and they store them in this wing pack. Point is I want to shrink my car and store in something so I never have to worry about parking again!

I would want to make a geek-themed Man-Cave into a capsule! With Toku/Anime/Gamer/Mech covering the walls alongside tabletop RPG motifs. So I can have my happy place wherever I happen to be at the time! Complete with TV, game consoles, collection of Transformers/Super Sentai/Kamen Rider as well as a proper gaming table for some tabletop roleplying with friends who come over! And when it was time for everyone to head home, just step outside, hit the button and BOOMPH!

    I would have at least 4 Capsules above all else;
#1. An armory, a place to store and maintain all my weapons & armor.
#2. A large garage, to keep all my extra vehicles that are smaller than #3.
#3. A battle-ready, mobile base/space ship equipped with living quarters (food storage included, also using Capsule tech) and a vehicle bay that can hold one smaller craft (particularly my Ares 90); Think of The Ghost from Star Wars Rebels, but cooler.
    #4. FOOD, glorious food.

How to get it to work on living things (like pokemon):
    1. Flash freeze the pokemon
    2. Encapsulate it
    3. Mod the capsule to rapidly heat when the button is pressed.
I mean, it's technically "dead" when you freeze it.
