Had a phone interview for the nicu, as a cna, 5 days ago and got hired on the spot! Doing my onboarding paperwork now online and start in January! Super excited! I didn't even know nicus had cnas until coming across this video
You are so amazing! It is my goal to work in the NICU! How did you become a NICU tech without yet having your nursing degree? I would love to be a NICU tech while earning my nurses degree as well! Such a dream 🥺
Thank you so much🥺! & the nicu tech position only requires either a Cna license or complete at least 2 semesters of nursing school. After my 3rd semester of nursing school I applied to a nicu tech job opening. That was basically it no certifications besides a BLS! I hope that helps!💕💕💕
@@emoneyhoney2808 that’s so amazing!! I wish I knew that. I’ve always wanted to work in the nicu, that’s a big goal of mine. I work as a PCA rn but you get it girl!! I cant wait to get into nursing and start
@@emoneyhoney2808thank you for offering up this info it’s so helpful! I’m a CNA about to go into nursing school and want to be a NICU RN and would love to do this as well! 🤍
I am watching this as a mom of a nicu baby ❤️ this video makes me smile ❤️thank you! Due to COVID we can NOT go in .. but this gives me LIFE❤️❤️❤️❤️ THANK YOU
I’m currently a CNA at a nursing home, I Love it don’t get me wrong but I’m definitely looking for working in the NICU🥺. I’m only 18 so I’m blessed to even be a CNA right now but I had an advantage because of covid I couldn’t finish my clinicals throughout high school. What route did you take ? Or would suggest ? Thank you for showing us this 💗
omg! we work at the same hospital but i work on med surg. considering switching units cause i was trying to get a job in either labor and delivery or nicu before i took this job.
Oh wow! You should definitely apply I seen a labor and delivery job posting a few weeks ago I believe. As far as nicu I know they were hiring In August! Let me know if you have any questions😊
I'm jealous you found a way to film at work. Memorial Hermann in Houston got pretty strict against any social media/video so I was too scary to even try.
I’m a small RUclips as well love supporting I’m new subscriber to your channel thank you for the video I just started my job in newborn nursery as well I’m so excited love your content keep up the good work 🤗
I'm a little jealous lol none of the hospitals in my area offer NICU tech positions. I just interviewed for an Antepartum position and a Mother-Baby position. Wish me luck 🤞🏾
30 beds & even that is pushing it time wise to make the milk. A lot of the nurses I worked with said that the previous nicus(higher acuity) they worked at they made their own milk. So that makes sense!
honestly, dont glamorize this. there’s a lot of bereavement, loss and grief. it’s not just being around cute little babies and making milk. they are in the NICU for a reason! those babies are not in good condition and it’s often really hard to see innocent babies go through trauma.
Hi, the purpose of the video is to show what a day typically looks like for me. I also wanted to inform people these positions exist (I didn’t know & neither do a lot of ple) Some things to keep in mind, not all NICU’s are high acuity. Mine could only take cases they had a high probability of treating. Secondly, I was literally hired to make milk, and stock items (so that was my day lol not a lot of interaction.) Some NICU’s even only have milk techs and they are on a separate floor. I say that bc people who have a hard time with grief but may still want to work in NICU have those options. Im so glad you made this comment tho, bc it is hard for many to see baby’s with feeding tubes, vents, death etc.! It’s something I plan on talking about on my channel, as I’m currently experiencing grief from patients. I didn’t experience grief at that job but boy am I now. It’s one 6 min video, I would hope people understand that NICU has ICU in it and really think is this for me? Ultimately, It gave my job purpose knowing I was helping out in small/big ways throughout my shift. To those reading this know that what she said is true these jobs shouldn’t be glamorized. Use my video to inform you that jobs like this exist, and ask yourself if you can mentally handle it. Lastly, if you can handle it great because they need NICU techs! This makes the providers jobs easier and the baby’s get better, faster care. If your not sure see if you can volunteer first before you apply. I think this is a good time to say take everyone’s “day in the life” videos for face value. You don’t see what happens everyday! 😊

Hello I’m back, I received a call for a interview for the NICU Milk Tech. I really manifested this job👶🏾🍼
@@daishanewsomednp6956 if you are not a nurse, you should not have nurse in your name, just an FYI. Hope you got the job.
Awesome video! I was wondering if you could make a video explaining how you got this position in the NICU? 💗
Yes! I’ll definitely make a video on that & thank you!💕😊
Thank you for your what you do! You guys are amazing and so helpful ☺️
Thank you so much! I have learned so much from you guys!💕
this video was awesome!! thank you so much for sharing 💗 it’s my dream to become a NICU RN
Thank you & you can do it! It’s definitely in my 3 favorite units so far.
This is amazing! I'm so happy I came across your video
You definitely can just look in your area! Let me know if you need any help!💗

The best thing for you to do is to apply to Nicu’s hiring techs in your area! (Wait until a position becomes available or submit your resume.)

I was honestly naive to hospitals social media policy before I posted this. Now I definitely don’t!
I'm looking so hard for a job like this . Been a cna for almost 10 years, but i dont think my area has jobs like this for cnas . 😢
I just applied for nicu kinda scared I’ve only worked with adults and adolescents but I’m ready for a new experience
Hi, I could relate to this. How’s your new experience going so far now ? I would love to know :)
I have a NICU nursing assistant interview coming up and I'm so excited!!! Any advice or tips? 🙏
Did they train you on making the milk formula?
Thanks for sharing

Thank you so much! Congratulations, How are you liking so far?!💕
I’m about to go to nursing school I want to do your exact position. School wise is that a NICU tech or is it a NICU nurses assistant
I'm a little jealous lol none of the hospitals in my area offer NICU tech positions. I just interviewed for an Antepartum position and a Mother-Baby position. Wish me luck 🤞🏾
Mother baby is my favorite unit! I hope you get it!💗
How much do NICU milk tech. Make hourly?
How many babies do you have to take care of per shift.
How can i get into this field? Of a nicu tech or infant formula tech
Hey !! Loved your video ! Is it possible for me to work as a necu tech if I’m a pct ?
Of course
I know this vid is old but how is it? Do you experience a lot of death 😢?
How big is this nicu,( # of beds)? I'm in South Carolina in a 60 bed nicu & nurses make the milk up for our own babies. One person couldn't do it.
30 beds & even that is pushing it time wise to make the milk. A lot of the nurses I worked with said that the previous nicus(higher acuity) they worked at they made their own milk. So that makes sense!
Do have any suggestions to be successful in the NICU
I would say find someone in the Nicu that is doing the same role as you & does their job well and follow their habits & techniques!💗
Do you work full time? 3-12 hour shifts?
Yes I worked 3-12s!😆
How did you become a nicu technician?
. I’m so jealous 🥰😍😍 .
You can do it too!😊
So is this similar or the same as a nicu cna?
CNA & PCT are virtually the same position. Cna is for nursing homes, PCT is in hospitals. They work under the same license
12 hour shifts??? Wow! Why!
