Hi I just recently become an ER Tech and looking to know more as this is my first time in this kinda field so am browsing through found your video am looking to pick up some vital tips so thank you for doing this video
I haven’t watched your whole video yet but I was wondering if you are officially an ER Tech or a PCT in workin in the ER?? I may apply for PCT ER but I’m not sure what they do exactly. Right now I’m an Entry Control Screener. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks for you video!😊👍
@@lrcrawford216 at the beginning of COVID it was said that the molecules can stick to your hair. That’s why many people, especially hospital personnel, started wearing scrub caps. It’s actually very common to see ppl wearing scrub caps for this reason. If you work outside of a hospital, then i guess i could see how you’ve never heard of that.
This is actually my first time hearing about covid being in the hair. 😳 but this was a great video.! Did you get your EMT license to become a ER tech? Do you have to wear your rubber ring or is it just your preference?
Meaaa Brown thank you! I actually had 3 years of CNA experience. I wouldn’t recommend working in te ER if you have no medical experience tho, it can be overwhelming. And I just choose to wear the rubber ring 😊
The hospitals near me require an EMT or CNA certification to work as an ER tech. Do you think the CNA experience will prepare me well for this position?
Would you say being a ER tech is easier than nursing home? Because lemme tell ya I was in a nursing home and it was a nightmare constantly short staffed and running non stop.
I wouldn’t necessarily say easier, but I think it’s a HUGEEE break from being in a nursing home. A lot less 💩 for sure! As far as heavy lifting, I feel like in the ER is where you’ll see the most men in terms of nursing, so I just let the EMT guys do the lifting and moving. I just feel like in the ER, you can perform a lot more skills and you don’t have to worry about bathing
Do you work for an ambulance company as well? Or are you only working as an ER tech?? I currently work for an ambulance company and was planning on becoming an ER tech as well. Any advice on what to look for when applying??
No i just work PRN at the hospital. If there’s a local hospital that you go to all the time and the staff knows you, I’d recommend applying there. And I always like to ask questions about how the staff gets along and help each other. 🤷🏾♀️ hope that helps
I’m not really sure. You’d have to check with your hospital. I do know most places require CNA license, EMT, or first semester of nursing school to be complete
As an ER tech does your hospital require you to bag the patients who pass away while in the ER? I applied to an ER tech position and had to withdraw my application after finding out I would also be responsible for bagging the deceased. I personally don’t have the emotional strength for it, and respect everyone who does!
Hi! I’m sorry for responding so late to your comment. The answer is yes, we do bag the patients. I haven’t bagged every patient that I worked on but, you learn that death is a part of life. It happens. That’s with any floor you work on though. Techs help with bagging the patient. However, it happens much more often in the ER
@@quon535 yes a PCT and a CNA have the same job description. You need a CNA license to be a PCT. patient care tech are just a fancy name that hospitals gave to their CNA’s
This so interesting because I am an EMT and I'm working to become an ER Tech, thank you for the insight!!

Definitely! You want to have some experience before running to the ER

I’m a medical assistant could I qualify for this job ?
Does Having a Phlebotomy and a EKG tech certificate with experience qualify me to apply as an ER tech cause I really wanna advance myself?

Maya L hi yes it’s a CNA/PCT. all the same
