      @@gmanneod8085 Thanks! I wasn’t stoked about troubleshooting this airgun. Once I saw how the magazine interfaced with the breech I saw there was no hope for it. That’s a CO2 BB pistol design that has no place on a $150 air gun. Once the mating surfaces wear on the breech face and pressure tube port the gun will bypass air on every shot. What a shitty design!
      I already filled out the return form on my Amazon app and will be printing off the return label at work. Bye bye Synergis.

    10 minutes into this video and the postman arrives with a parcel I bought from ebay, the start of my next project gun. It's the piston and slide for a BSA Goldstar airgun, a 10 shot, magazine fed underlever from the 90s, and it has what that Umarex should have, a probe on the slide which pushes a pellet from the magazine into the breech.
    In fact, the patent for this design must have expired by now, so I don't see why it hasn't been copied, the Theoben SLR88 and SLR98 also used the same design, all three rifles sadly discontinued long ago.
    Jealous of your snow btw.

      Years and years ago the concept of a repeating break barrel popped into my head and I started researching if anything like that existed. I believe I ran across your model in my searches but it was no longer in production.
      Now repeaters are commonplace but with varying degrees of success. I’ve owned a few different brands and the only one I kept is my $105 remanufactured Gamo Swarm Hornet.

    I had the .22 version of the Synergis Elite and I too had some pellets break upon firing. The skirt would sometimes expand and jam in the magazine while the dome of the pellet broke off and shot out at what sounded like supersonic speeds. In my case the skirt evenly expanded and stuck in the mags to where I couldn't push it out without tools and significant effort. The velocity dropped drastically after this happened a few times (and before I realized what was going on) likely due to the piston breaking, similar to as if I had dry fired the rifle multiple times. The rifle was sent back for warranty and luckily Umarex was willing to let me pay the difference and get a Notos in return instead of another Synergis.

      It was so weird and I’m glad it got caught on video. I’m also happy to hear I’m not the only one to have this happen to them. I filled out the return form to Amazon last night and will be sending it back for a refund on Monday.
      I’ve had other instances where the gun dry fired and now that I’m more familiar with it, I think it was due to the magazine failing to advance and firing on an empty cylinder.
      I’ve never owned a Umarex rifle before, the CO2 guns I own from them have been great. I can’t recommend this piece of trash though. I’ll be glad to be rid of it.

    As frustrating as this Umarex synergist Elite has been and how I wanted to send it back I think I may have found a pellet that it actually likes I've tried every 177 pellet I have from 7 to 16 grains but I bought these pellets for a different gun and I tried them in here and they're the JSP exact monster Diablo redesigned 13.43 grain they do seat very tight in the magazine so you have to well.... seat them..... I have got almost hole in hole accuracy at 20 yards and the bonus to seating the pellet is that they don't fall out.

      My guess is the quality control on these guns is all over the place. Still, I have zero confidence that this pattern of airgun will remain to function properly over time. The metal on metal wear of removing and replacing the magazine will create loose tolerances at the breech and lead to binding and air leakage.

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  2 месяца назад

      @@rquest3059 It’s unfortunate as the gun looked good on paper and the repeater under-lever concept was appealing. Today when I was examining the breech are I realized that once the mating surfaces wear on the breech face and pressure tube port the gun will bypass air on every shot. The pressure tube port is made from brass. The breech is steel and the magazine cylinder is steel. The action of sliding the mag in and out every 10 shots will cause wear and loose tolerances and the gun will basically be worn out. Seeing that future issue caused me to not even look into trying to fix the lack of a muzzle crown. I think that was likely a big contributor of its inaccuracy.

    Hello, I own the Umarex Synergis Elite, and did you read your owner's manual. 1. put gun on SAFE and pulldown cocking lever to release mag and vice versa in a nutshell. By shoving the magazine in like a Gamo (I have a SWARM DX), you're screwing up the mag, gun mechanisms, and shaving your pellets. Another tip, insert your magazine with the gun pointed down because the mag doesn't have the 1/4 slide hold of the gamo mag. All scopes on these guns are trash, and make sighting difficult as well.

      The way the one piece shroud is constructed a guy can’t access the crown. I don’t know if that would have made a big difference but I don’t think it would have hurt anything.
      This is the first set of videos I did in an airgun that felt like a job. I don’t know how the sponsored YT channels can stand testing guns & products you’re not passionate about? Usually when I get a problem gun I’m interested in wanting to make it work better. Aside from the repeater concept of this underlever there was nothing else redeeming or special about it. I had one,sent it back. Umarex sent me another one. I smacked it around a hickory tree. Bought a hatsan flash pcp and a hand pump never looked back. I would never own another springer or gas piston air gun. Now i own several other pcp airguns. My favorite is my fx dreamline.

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  2 месяца назад +1

      I’ve got a few PCP’s but for the way I shoot I don’t like how the hand pumping interrupts my flow.
      I’ve had quite a few bad experiences with both springers and gas ram guns in the under $275 price range. Generally they all have a few things in common:
      1. Made in China
      2. Shrouded in plastic
      3. Repeaters
      I think this experience is the straw the broke the camel’s back and I’m done taking chances on these types of airguns.

      My initial impression was the magazines were very robust and well made. But they are finicky, prone to issues and after discovering the sides were made from plastic my opinion of them lowered. Their inface with the beech and air port will be the source of problems as the mating surfaces wear. It’s a bad design.

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  2 месяца назад

      @@JohnLong-ch1mc Yeah, it looked good on paper and I liked the repeater concept. Once I saw how the magazine interfaced with the breech I saw there was no hope for it. That’s a CO2 BB pistol design that has no place on a $150 air gun. Once the mating surfaces wear on the breech face and pressure tube port the gun will bypass air on every shot. The magazines are not as robust as they first appeared and were already getting finicky after only 250 shots.
      I ended up spending way more time and effort on the gun than I wanted. It felt like work. I bought it with the idea it’d be accurate at 20 yds and with the repeater feature it’d make a great pest control gun. It’s not accurate enough for that kind of use.

    • @airgunsofalaska

      @@jimstewart5008 It definitely was a disappointment. I’d have figured out a way to clean up the crown but I saw no point to do so after examining how the magazine interfaced with the breech.
      That’s a good way to look at it. If a guy just wants an underlever repeater and is fine with BB gun accuracy, this gun will fill that role nicely. If a person only shoots cans and large objects at around 10 yds they’ll probably be content with it. Problem is, there are other repeater style pellet guns that can easily do that and more for a lot less money.
      I’m bummed I didn’t listen to my gut and cancel the 2nd order while it was sitting for days waiting to ship. I’d canceled it the 1st time I ordered the gun.

    Woah sounds like Umarex is kinda pushy, they'd have been better off consulting you during development than pretending it's good now. Yeah blowing the pellet through the mag with no chambering sounds so off I'm not surprised it doesn't work.
