Gordon likes to keeps his meat simple. It's always going by this rule of thumb if it's pork/beef/lamb: 1. Season meat with salt and pepper 2. Olive oil in, wait for the smoke to come out 3. Meat in, make sure it sizzles or you're not doing it right 4. Press the meat down and let it sear 5. Get a few cloves of garlic, crush them (don't bother peeling) and either thyme or rosemary (depends on what you're cooking), then put them into the pan. 6. Flip your meat, get the herbs under the meat, press it down 7. Add some butter to the pan 8. Baste the meat with the brown butter till you reach your intended doneness 9. Take the meat out, let it rest for the equal amount of time it was in the pan
I watched this video and 40 mins later I was eating possibly the best chop I’ve ever eaten. The pepper and onions are amazing as well. Way to Chef! I hope you become famous one day. Lol
I must say Gord Ramsay is the one rare chef who captured the essence of Asian and Western cooking, and apply the appropriate balance on his dishes. That's why his style is hard to copy. Not bad for a guy who used to chase a soccer ball. Salute !!
That's what I admire him for. You could really see how open he was to new (sometimes bizarre) recipes from different countries. I've never seen anyone incorporate two very disticnt flavours as well as Gordon.
Johnny Midnite Ya, it's from his home cooking show. Ironically, he wants the viewers and home cooks to slow down and get it right, but the editing is all jump cuts and food porn to make it look quick and sexy. I've used this recipe several times and it's great, though.
also, if you dont cut open the root (top nub) of the onion when youre chopping it will not release as much vapors and might help ya not cry when cutting onion
Chef Ramsay, I love your videos! Being introduced to new recipes is great, but what I really love is all the little things a person can pick up from watching you work. I never knew how to keep chops from curling in the pan. It never occurred to me to score the rind. But now I know, and my food will be better for it!
I made the sweet and sour peppers this afternoon with my lunch and WOW! I am blown away. I went to a farm and picked up 5 pounds of peppers for $2 and a bushel of onions for $6. I needed something to do with all this veg and having seen this episode yesterday...I knew what had to be done. I'm so glad i did it! Now I have a perfect saute and dinner "relish" of sorts to pair with most anything. Make it! You'll be delightfully surprised at the genius of this beautiful brilliant man! ❤
Agreed! Made it tonight. My partner and I were shocked at how good those peppers were and they looked and smelled like such a fragrant and delectable mix of ingredients. Will be making these peppers again, that’s’s for sure.
Another wonderful recipe from a Master Chef!!! Loved the tip on the cuts to prevent curling!! Thanks again for sharing with me a novice but passionate home cook and baker!
This is one of my very favorite dishes to cook. The basil and thyme add a great deal of flavor to the dish. It looks "chef-like" but it's incredibly simple to make. Everyone likes it. And it cooks fast. Start to end in about 25m.
I was in a dark place in my life and then I found Gordons cooking and it really helped me out and now I am working towards opening my own restaurant I'm only 14 but I know I want to do that so if your ever in Saskatoon in 12 years stop by hills. 😀 thanks Gordon
This recipe produced the best pork chops we've ever had. My man usually loves his meat fatty and juicy so pork chops are not his favourite cut but the way they turned out with the butter was so perfect we both asked for more. Thanks for the lovely recipe.
How to make a fucking bowl of cereal Gordon Ramsay style: Step 1. Olive oil. I like my cereal greasy and soggy, so add some fucking olive oil to your bowl. Pan on, make the bowl simmer. Step 2. Cereal. Add some fucking Cheerios, some Frosted flake shit, in a fucking bowl over the stove. Step 3. Salt and pepper. Add some salt and pepper for flavor even though the cereal already has flavor due to all the chemicals in it. Step 4. Star anise Step 5. Hmm. Rich, greasy, soggy, peppery, corn flakes.
My MOM liked it, I dunno about y’all but moms are very picky when letting sons cook for them. Ramsay gave me such a dynamite dish that the harshest critic I know was impressed.
Scroll down past all the "Gordon uses olive oil" comments, the "This is what Gordon's life must be like" cracks, clever observations, people saying I can't cook, fingers-in-bumhole jokes, and finally I find someone who's actually tried the recipe. Thank you.
Just tried this and all i can say is oh my fucking god this is amazing thank you gordon Ramsay!!!. I grilled my pork chops instead so no oil or butter was needed. I marinated the pork with garlic, salt, basil, ground pepper, honey and lemon juice. This made it juicy and succulent and not at all as sweet as it sounds. I served it with cheesy mash potato it was awesome i tell ya.
What do you mean? I tried the sweet and sour pepper exactly the same way he made it. The pork he made was a simple way to cook pork chop, I prefer my way because it's healthier. The key difference is the sweet and sour peppers the rest is just pork chop fried with spices. You don't have to always follow a recipe by the book or you cease to be creative that's why i wrote down what i did differently.
Cuntslaw Sure i don't see why not. Worcester sauce has vinegar in it. i used malt vinegar not red wine. The vinegar is just to give it that sour taste. try it and let me know.
toni fagbure Sumeet Rajpal The confusion was that you left you comment with "I served it with cheesy mash potato" which gave the impression that that was all you served your grilled pork chops. Cooking this with confidence, actually enjoying the results of my own cooking for the first time has opened me up to trying out all sorts of delicious meals I would have been too intimidated by to try previously. Thank you for putting this information out there, the video format really helped a lot in teaching me.

I was looking for a roasted pepper recipe to make tonight . . . found this sweet & sour sauteed pepper recipe. Got it frying while practicing the Chef's pan toss. Excellent. This week, I purchased TWO of his healthy cooking cook books. Absolutely love this Chef.
Heh :D I got a say I enjoy cooking from these videos. Absolutely no wasted time and most of the measurements not fully given, so I work them out according to what I think is right and for my taste.
Watching GR’s vids makes you wanna run to nearest Tesco to get some thyme and pork chops and start cooking. Gordon makes cooking look so effortlessly. Love from Malaysia 🇲🇾
I so much prefer watching Chef Ramsay at the stove cooking, as opposed to his yelling, cursing persona on T.V. He is an exemplary chef who still has the passion for his craft. He shows us that sometimes, simplicity is best. I've come to enjoy watching his videos more than any other. To coin Mr. Ramsay's phrase, beautiful!
Made this tonight followed exactly how he made his and when I tell you it was Delicious Follow the recipe and your can’t go wrong I completed it with a side of Jazmine rice
Wow these were awesome, Gordon nails it again, most tender Pork Chops I ever made and so good, I did 8 min on each side to give it a little more crisp and caramelize the garlic and thyme a little longer and the peppers were so sweet, I'm making those the next time I do Sausage and peppers...two thumbs up 👍👍
Nicest thing about this video (well, almost the nicest, after the food!) is the way Gordon teaches basic kitchen technique as he goes along. How many other chefs have the confidence to do that?

2019 August, Bored me looking at this video at night 11, I rushed to the Walmart store and bought all the things and did this, It was soooo good. Thankyou Gordan.
This is part of his "Ultimate Cookery Course". A veritable treasure trove of fantastic food. He just walks out these fantastic dishes with concise instructions, sans the chit chat. I can't recommend it enough.
I made this exact recipe today, with a few differences. didn't have basil, porkchops were thinner, and used balsamic vinegar instead of red wine vinegar. absolutely delicious
It's something about these videos that make it more satisfying to watch late at night then at any other part of day.

Jeremy McMullan did you season the knife?
I always thought of that everytime Gordon says let the knife do the work but im like "...but im still in control of the knife." 😂
if I had dollar for every time he said olive oil in
You'll have enough to start an olive oil business.
And the entire customer base could be Gordon Ramsay, making money on selling him oil, and making money on him using it.
You would be broke
Why was I expecting something after the "in"

This is part of his "Ultimate Cookery Course". A veritable treasure trove of fantastic food. He just walks out these fantastic dishes with concise instructions, sans the chit chat. I can't recommend it enough.
