Love carpet over hardwood . Hardwood is nice and clean however it’s hard cold wood . No area rug can ever give warmth to hardwood .. if you want warm hardwood u would probably need heated flooring systems . But $$$$$ . It seems the newer carpets are better quality and hypoallergenic also . Nice installation. Thanks for sharing

nice to see other people want carpet over hardwood . I think it's better for the hardwood over time it protects the floor and definetly adds warmth back into the room . area rugs don't add warmth regardless people say . I am also considering adding carpet over hardwood for the above reasons I mentioned . thanks for sharing

Berber carpet over laminate flooring, is there a way to have carpet installed without damaging the existing laminate floor for future use when carpet is removed? Keeping some rooms laminate without carpet how do you transition without nailing tack strips is that possible? I have two doorways and an 8-ft opening into an Arizona room that will still stay with the laminate. Your guidance & thoughts are appreciated 👍. Looking for a solution for dogs slipping on a laminate we lay down runners and they just walk around them so I was hoping that carpeting the main area is a solution 🤔

I’ve never found a great way to save the laminate / we have used really good double faces tape before it is what we use in apartments when we are not to damage the floors

This was a really clear video. I have an 11x11ft office I want to carpet, so it doesn't look too bad to do with the right tools. I have a transition from the room's floor to the hallway, but there's door there. I'm worried the carpet will be too high and constantly rub against the door if I use two layers of smooth edge to create a clean transition. But if I use one, I feel like a gap will be noticeable Maybe it's no big deal, but do you think the carpet would degrade from the door opening and closing all the time if it's always rubbing?

I think you should use shims to raise the Height not double smoothedge I will link a video hope this helps! ruclips.net/video/wUK50LWKu58/видео.html

Great explanation! Our hardwoods in our master need carpet. About 5’x2’ of the hardwood is water damaged and buckling. Would we have to address this before putting carpet down?

You can go over / but best to make nice before you do / 😀 don’t want the carpet to start forming over the rippled wood! Also depends how rippled / if it’s not that bad it may be ok

Laying carpet…. looks like a really hard thing to do.
My question- Can I just lay carpet (not installed) over hard wood floors. My dog has a hard time walking on the hardwoods. But I don’t want to make this permanent. Thanks.

@@KeithShannonDirectCarpet will that work with engineered wood and parquet? I have like most the house to do. Was told if its not installed the giant rug will fray very quickly, also worried about carpet preventing the wood from breathing and holding moisture.

I miss the warmth of the carpet and got bamboo wood flooring all over a couple of years ago. Given that bamboo expands and contracts more than normal hard wood, do you think carpet over it may be a good idea? Especially if my kids spill a bottle of water? Currently we mop it straightaway, but with carpet over it, I guess it may lead to irreversible damage to the bamboo floor underneath?

When you make your cut I like to fold the material in half making the roll 6 ‘ saves time ,easer to carry in. And saves the paint Also you can tuck to quarter round.

So quick question girlfriend and I are building a new house. We are doing hardwood or tile throughout. However, we are going to convert the bonus room into a theater room. Obviously I want to do the carpet in the theater room but I would like to have the hardwood flooring installed underneath for to match the rest of the house if we sell in the future. Is there a way to install theater style carpeting over the top of the hardwood without nailing the tack in there by destroying the edge?

    • @KeithShannonDirectCarpet

I doubt it/ tack strip can be installed around the perimeter of the room/the nails are small/ loose lay the pad and if you have to fill the little nail holes with

If you want to remove the baseboards that’s fine / but lots of work / if there is a 1/4 inch gap you should be fine

How damaging is this to the hardwood, can the carpet be ripped out later and reuse the hardwood.
I got great hardwood floors, the downstairs kept complaining about noise, now HOA is involved, I was ordered to install carpet over my beautiful hardwood.
I compared lawsuits cost vs carpet installation, I will pick the carpet and wait for the downstairs situation to change. She is super old and considering a retirement home.

    • @KeithShannonDirectCarpet

Not that damaging if you use a really good professional double faced tape / we used to do carpet in apartments over par quay hardwood all the time and we were not allowed to damage the floor so we used a flooring installers double faced tape

I've never understood the modern obsession with hardwood flooring and the trend against carpet.
    "Carpet gets so dirty!"
Then clean it or don't spill crap on the carpet.
"Hardwood is better to help the home sell!"
Why do you care? A home is your personal space to live in. Why do you care how it'll sell in 25 years? At that point just tear out the carpets when you're ready to sell. It's YOUR space, so make it yours. These people act like you need to be in some perpetual state of having your house stage ready and sold in 30 days or less.

Acoustics my friend, acoustics. People only consider the visual and never think of ear appeal. Carpeted rooms sound better and make your expensive stereo sound nice unlike hardwood floors. Too many reflective surfaces smear the sound and make you room sound like a train station.
