    We use flexi fix and put it on the back of the cut strips , placing as per normal when nailing. We use the method on tile , poorly poured floors and underfloor heating. Same outcome different methods. Great video, greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪

    Just love the discipline man. I always glued strip when I had extra hard surfaces. Even the old crap glue would hold pieces if you cut them down (remember one bad nail popping the whole 4 foot stick?)
    You’re part of a dying breed, I fear. Keep up the good work.

    Fantastic work! Thank you for reminding us to stagger the tack strips. And your shoes are a perfect match with your work shirt!

    Awesome attention to detail! Unfortunately, the clients in my area want to do things like install carpet with no pad and no tack strip to cut on costs... Don't see myself getting a job like this any time soon.

    It's a shame about tack strip. It used to be made with good solid wood and was very uniform, and the pin nails never stuck out the back side. Also, it used to be common to get the pin size you need for the carpet you were installing. The strip today is nothing but crap.

      Yep agree, I actually recently found a good tack strip, I will do a video on it and show you what I am using now

    Get a spreader,man.
    Much more efficient, & can achieve a better stretch.

    What carpet tacker do you recommend? I have always installed with a Duo-Fast Carpet Pro, however, DuoFast is no longer, and I don't know what other options are good.

    We had a peel and stick tackless here for a while. They stopped selling it though. Worked ok. One time though a customer called said carpet was coming up. I went back and the tape was still stuck to the concrete but had let go from the tackless. Had to reinstall it. Not sure it was powerstretcher friendly.

    Yep,, theres many ways of doing this!! Regardless of how you do it , I think I've done them all,, you still need to pass the cost on to the customer!! If you are working for a mom and pops store or a work room , make a list of your up charges and negotiate charges before you work for them. A quality store or business will understand these extras! I understand, location, location, location! Just make sure if you do quality work,, you get paid for it!! Installers are a dime a dozen, if they show up, with lots of customer complaints and call backs!! A " MECHANIC " demands more money! I know what I'd have charged for that extra work and materials! Good day sir!

    How do you remove the strips from the tile? I need to take my carpet out but save the tile underneath.

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys
      @FloorsbySouthernboys  Год назад

      Somebody probably drilled holes through your tile in order to put down the strip, it probably will not be able to be saved, unless this method of installation was done

    i think i like that better than chem-rex cause you have to use water to activate it... the hot glue is a must cause it sure will move as it set-up
