    This scene alone proves why the Richard Donner cut is the BEST version of this movie, if not the BEST Superman film of all time. Mr. Reeve and Mr. Brando gave some of the finest performances so their careers in this film and it's a shame that neither of them lived to see it.

    • @sandal_thong8631
      @sandal_thong8631 Год назад

      It still needed a rewrite. After we saw Superman catch a bullet, he wouldn't have been fooled by blanks, no matter how much Donner loved that scene. She should have tried to cut him in his sleep. Also, the turn-back-time idea was pretty iffy. In his version Lois wouldn't have died, there wouldn't have been a satisfactory ending to Superman I, and it would be silly in Superman II, without filming the destruction or burning of Tokyo and Moscow, which were in the script. Also, the kiss was dumb, if emotional.

    • @looneyburgmusic

      Both versions gives the whole,"Once it is done there can be no return," thing, but in the original cut the return loophole was accidental; Lois set down the green crystal and spaced it, so when the control panel exploded it wasn't in there. It responds to Clark when he returns and then..just somehow offscreen it made him Superman again. I like that this version gives you more of an explanation.

He revealed himself to the world as Superman, though his father didn't think that was a great idea. Tree Slayer Actually, scout ship 0344 in Man Of Steel is considered the "modern" fortress of solitude. He meets Jor-ell there. Kal-el's interactions with Jor in Man of Steel are essentially the same ones here. They're just newer with different actors. Do you remember when Kal moves te ship to that secluded mountainous are. Well, you can consider that the "fortress if solitude." Similar to the orginal superman movies, Kal-El learns about his origins and his earthly purpose and becomes superman. "Taaadaaaaa!!!"

    The thing is, as much as I love the Donner vision, this wasn't what I saw when my dad took me to the cinema. The things you see as a 8 year old stays with you. The Lester vision will aways be THE version.

    Something they should have left in the movie instead of just leaving it at with him finding and picking up the crystal. Granted we all knew he was getting his powers back, but this really should have stayed included in the movie

    This version is so much more meaningful than the Lester version. It never loses sight of the emotional aspects of being an exile in effect, from a place and a people that no longer exist and how this plays out in father-son relationships etc. Marlon Brando was worth every penny, he imbues the role of Kal-El with so much feeling.

I remembered it like yesterday. I guess I'm telling my age huh? anywho you should see it on huge screen with surrounding for the best movie experience. Too bad Christopher Reeves died May he rest in piece.

    What a movie "2" should've been. The Lester version wasn't at all bad, and the Donner cut overall didn't quite work, albeit it's understandable. But if Donner had finished 2 properly, we truly would have had a series up there with Star Wars. I can't blame the Salkinds, either. Without them we would have had nothing at all, and I guess the pressures on everyone just split the whole thing apart. Shame. Funny how life sometimes doesn't complete a good thing.

    • @sandal_thong8631
      @sandal_thong8631 Год назад

      I blame the Salkinds. They were the money men, and someone else with money could have gotten the rights to Superman. Superman II should have had him going up against one Kryptonian: Bizarro. Superman III, he then fights 3 Kryptonians. Then Superman IV should have been Supeman and Supergirl (and others?) against Brainiac to save an Earth city and rescue the Kryptonian city of Kandor.
