While I greatly appreciate having the opportunity to see this footage, I honestly greatly prefer the way it was done in the final theatrical release. Why? Well, I feel that the way this situation was handled in the theatrical movie was more realistic and was something each of us can relate to. Many of us have spoken to deceased relatives and asked them for guidance or assistance, etc and we are never going to have them appear in front of us and have a whole conversation with them, like in this sequence. However, we do sometimes see a subtle sign which we might interpret as a response from our loved one, and it reinforces the feeling that they are there with us or watching over us. For me, when Superman tells his dad that he failed and he wishes he could hear him, and then after a brief silence he looks over and sees the green crystal lighting up, that really creates an experience that I can relate to. Whereas in this particular scene shown here, I can't really relate to it at all. It doesn't really bring out any emotion for me, because it's just pure fantasy and is lacking a sense of realism.

It’s ridiculous to believe that Jesus gave his life for “our sins”. If that were true then it doesn’t matter what anyone does in this life, because Jesus has guaranteed paradise for everyone. Clearly that doesn’t make sense & is clearly untrue.

On the plus side, at least he got it back while also getting his father's arm around him. Something he wanted since Superman I.

Years ago, I had a pen holder that was made of three plexiglass tubes that were stuck together. Everytime I slid a pen down into them, I thought of the Fortress of Solitude.

This version is so much more meaningful than the Lester version. It never loses sight of the emotional aspects of being an exile in effect, from a place and a people that no longer exist and how this plays out in father-son relationships etc. Marlon Brando was worth every penny, he imbues the role of Kal-El with so much feeling.

Christopher Reeve was and always will be Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman to me. He's the best version there's ever been in movies, cartoons, tv shows or comic books. R.I.P Christopher Reeve, Marlon Brando & Margot Kidder.

I think about son becomes the father and father becomes the son and What does it mean? I think the father has finally passed all his knowledge and life/energy is no more....that is how the son becomes the the father. He is now the father because HIS father is no more. The father becomes the son is the same as the above. The father's knowledge and memories now is given completely to the son to be passed on to his son.

DC could make a TV show about an alternate reality beginning in this scene, but kal-el is not be able to become superman again and the world must figure out a way to fight Zod. Showing many politicians siding with Zod as they likely would in the real world.

1:00 "You will travel far, my little Kal-El. We will never leave you, even in the face of our death. The richness of our lives shall be yours. All that I have, all that I've learned, everything I feel ... all this and more, ... I bequeath you, my son. You will carry me inside you, all the days of your life. You will make my strength your own, and see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father, and the father the son. This is all I ... all I can send you ... Kal-El."
