- One of the top 10 muscle cars of all time has to be the 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS convertible. So, it was quite a thrill to get a ride in this classic with Dr. Jamie Meyer, product integration manager for GM Performance Parts at California's Willow Springs International Raceway.
i got one of these but with a hard top its got a blue paint job with the same shine as that orange with a 454. all i gots the interior left to do. just Watching this video makes me want to finish it NOW!!! CHEVELLES FOR LIFE!!!
The '70 Chevelle is an iconic car, a beautiful car that will take a big-block with no problem.
Later I wil buy a 1970 chevelle ss.

ok here we go...I ha a 70 hardtop with a 402 that was bored over .030 after 4 yrs.Then a crower cam angled valves and other flow work a 3200 converter backed by a 400 turbo with a b&m shift kit...4:56 rear with 12x15 rear tires and hooker headers..we ran 11.72 at thompson in ohio way back when had the neat cowl induction hood also...the chain on the engine was really stretched and it was 3/8" get it on
There are so many different types of muscle cars you can get, but the bottom line is what ever you like the best in looks, because you can put just about any motor in any car. There are racing suspensions for the older cars, due to the the bad geometry of the car, but its most about what kind of body do you like, do you like the big boats like the 70 Chevelle or do you like the smaller cars like 68 Cammaro. I'm sure you could find an old school car just sitting in your local junk yard.

this car & the first gen camaro is what made gm the giant it once was.I bet if gm would produce a car like this again it would sell.All metal no plastic.Good ol american iron.when u get in a wreck it wouldn't just fold up like a tin can.nice car wish i had one.
I'm liking the Orange!...But i would prefer a hard top myself because convertibles some what takes the sporty look out of it...

i gotta 69 SS and man lemme tell u something.. the feeling when i go down the highway and the roar of the big block and the rpm's just going to waste like the shells on a 50 cal bmg................. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh god no better feeling. some people say they should do a retro of the chevelle just liket the camaro. but no. i mean it would be nice. but i dont think anyone will ever come up with something as good as the original chevelle's.

it depends on how much money you have to spend. for a first muscle car i would suggest a newer one, not like brand new but drive one of those and then get a project car

What I meant is that a Restored chevelle with a Supercharged Small Block will cost about $40,000
you can make a chevelle handle very well for not a whole lot of money and they dont wiegh as much as you think. I own a cutlass which has the same suspesion and pretty much weighs the same the verts are about 3700lbs coupes wiegh about 3500lbs not to bad concidering the size get an all aluminum small or big block and update to some aluminum body panels and your looking at a big ass car weighing about 3000-3100 lbs.
nice car, nice engine... but the TRANSMISSIOn!!! did you hear how it kept the rpm's low... that thing needs a 6spd
well the car is HEAVY HEAVY! lol not only is it a chevelle, but its the rap top version so its supported to the max, but if u drop that engine in a 67 camaro, u will see what it can really do.

cutlass drop tops only wieghed 3700. Im thinking its under 4000 lbs but might be close with the larger wheels and such

what i would do for a car like that. i had one in high school about 10 years ago and had to sell it to pay for family, i cry when i think of all my memories i had, absolutly the best car in the world. muscle, beuty and almost 40 years old. orgasm in a car. boy the regrets i have for selling it. sniffle sniffle
Camaros weight about 3500, 4500 sounds about right for a chevelle.
ok everybody im gettin a 70 chevelle ss an im not sure wat engine 2 put in it to make it as fast as it possibly could be my cousin told me to put a 572 big block in it..is there any thing better then that that could make it faster..i need 2 kno thanks

i own a 71 ss and man it would piss me off if they actually came out with that 2015 chevelle concept. they need to leave the chevelle in history where it rules.

lmao fyi I have my own 1968 A-body with power steering so don't tell me what I do or don't know man. The power steering is TOO easy on these cars, you can steer it with your pinky. The wheel-to-wheel sucks really bad. I Have to turn it 4 times to make a turn I would've made with maybe 2.5 or less times in my Accord. I'm planning on adding a quick ratio to my GTO clone.

also in case you were talking about drag racing instead of grip, yeah, a chevelle in standard form has a more drag racing oriented rear end but that's about it. if both cars are on street tires the r34 would probably destroy it. and you dont put a 6 speed in a drag muscle car. honestly your list of mods is a joke. for the record skylines of that year cost well under 50k.

too me their advertising more of the 502 engine than the 1970 chevelle. the power of the engine has nothing to do with the chevelle, except for weight
if you say so. But euro cars are buildt to a lot higher standerd than american cars theres only so much you can do to them. muscle cars back in the day were buildt to be buildt by drag/street racers.
thats why people update the suspensions on the muscle cars. there are plenty of muscle cars that will completley destroy ferraris, lambos, lotus's and a ton of other cars buildt to take turns. So the stupid cars can take your supercars so what does that make them retarted?

A real 70' chevelle ss has a black ss bumper pad on the back. This one dose not. Makes me think it's not a real ss,just a malibu.

that is the dumbest comment in youtube history. have you even looked at a chevelle's suspension or looked up the weight? the R34 has much much more advanced suspension and a drive system that is still considered cutting edge. a stock skyline, let alone gr. A or mines setup would own a chevelle and ever other 30 year old car around the track.

CONVERTIBLE?!? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO A CLASSIC, GAY YOU RUINED IT, atleast make it a hard top. Who the hell would want to buy a convertible Chevelle, chevelles are my favorite, and I even hated the look the convertible gave it.
