I bought a used silver M240 several months ago from Leica. Two batteries and a thumbs up grip for $2600. have also owned an M8 and M9 in the past. The M240 does have video but I don't do video and also rarely use the live view.
Congrats. It is still an awesome camera and all one ever needs. I went back from m10 to the 240 because I thought I don’t need anything the m10 adds to the experience. I bought another nice lens for the change 😀
The M240 has auto-iso, can take video and is capable of aperture-priority auto exposure as well as manual exposure. As others have pointed out, the “sensor protector” is the shutter. Welcome to Leica photography; you will love it once you figure out what it is. 👍
I first started in Leica with the m240. The camera was awesome. I loved it. I ended up switching to the m10d for a few reason. Dynamic range was needed, the higher iso performance, no screen, but the most important thing for me was it was thinner. About as thin as an m7.
I finally pulled the trigger on a Leica M7, been wanting one since I got out HS but never could talk myself into getting one. I very much enjoyed opening the box and understand your excitement
Love my m240 it's a wonderful tool and do get a evf the olympus is the best for the money the liveview is useful if you get a lens that can focus closer than 0.7 like the voigtlander nokton 35mm 1.2
Wonderful camera, just bought a ‘pre-distressed’ m240 myself. One lens and one camera. I sold the Leica I owned a year ago and it was a huge mistake. Won’t make the same mistake again!
Nice! I've a M240 too. Summilux 50. And EVF. Best set up ever for me as press photographer too. My second lens is the Q with a Summilux 1.7/28. Great stuff. I still have a couple of Leica R-lenses and I can use them with an Adaptor on the M240 too. The Only issue is dust on the sensor, but after I taped some holes on the top and back of the camera, the problem is solved. Enjoy your M240 and keep on rolling!
@@ericrjennings # 9 Microphone and # 32 Loudspeaker. The M10 is weather sealed, No M-lenses are weather sealed. I have a chamois cloth to wrap around the camera when it's raining.
Well I guess my point was it looked strange compared to other shutters. The shutter stays down ? To protect the sensor? This is new to me coming from mirrorless cameras that don’t do that
@@ericrjennings Leica keeps the shutter down, because it does metering off the grey painted shutter blades. Other mirrorless cameras use the actual sensor for metering. You can enable “advanced” metering on the Leica, which will open the shutter, but it makes the shooting far slower and laggy. It’s basically as slow as using LV on the M240, because LV also does “advanced” metering by default.
I'm new to the m240 also ( a month in) coming from fujifilm. Decided to go in because the price is finally reasonable used. I prefer the black to the silver as the brass shows. Loving the cheap ttartisan lenses too! Summilux-es for under 500 each
@@ericrjennings the 50mm f1.4 tt is good. The 35mm is disappointing in terms of build quality. My hood was crooked and the aperture ring not as tight as the 50mm. For 35mm I opted for the voigt 35mm f1.2 mk3
What a beauty. I just got into leica digital with the Q2, which I love. Look forward to seeing you use it. My guess on the 50 is the Zeiss ZM C Sonnar f1.5. or the planar f2. Both amazing.
Love my Q2. Been using it for about 6 months now. Gonna be hard to use anything else. Although a couple of weeks ago picked up a M6. Oh man what a dream to use that.
If you have a broken camera you don't know what to do with it, find a mechanic or repair store, and donate your camera for spare parts. At least they could buy you a beer 😊
Thank god you didn’t get the m8 or 9. It wont be long before you get the m10. 240 is too thick like a brick and files aren’t all that, but it sure is fun.
Why you saying like that? Leica M8/9/240 are all good cameras specially first Leica and on budget. Sure M10 is a little upgrade but so is price. Calm down and let him enjoy his first RF!
@@taneltinnuri8985 lol I'm jussss saying. I felt a bit surprised when I got the m8 and 240. I hung onto the 240 a couple years, and got rid of the m8 right away. None are like the m10.. & our man will get there in no time, and I can't wait for more videos!
I had the same feeling as yours when I got my Leica M240 twelve months ago. It just like a dream come true.

Congrats on the new camera! I recently picked up an M240 and have loved every moment with it. It’s still such a phenomenal camera.
Beautiful camera and a great deal for that price! Looking forward to your first impressions video.

Congrats to yr purchase! I own one too. Most versatile digi leica ever with a great sensor and weather sealed. Get the grip with integrated GPS !
You really captured the excitement!

You'll love it! I have an m9-p and m8 that I adore. My guess on your 50mm is a used summicron and for the 28mm the Elmarit. Enjoy!

Why bother ? You can blow dust off the sensor with a blower
Congrats man, digital Leica M bodies are something else and will inspire you to shoot.
Thank you. I’m going to do a 1 week first impressions

FWIW the sensor cover you describe is the shutter.
Yeah thanks lol. I was surprised the color of it and the fact it was down

Nice pickup. Voightlander 50mm f1.2
Nope ... 😉
Congrats
Thanks
The GAS is back!
no this is different. This was one of the short few "will buy" cameras for me.
