Enjoying the videos Tim. I picked up an m8.2 in 2011 and ten years on I’m still loving it. It’s been to every continent nearly. A bunch of film Ms which I’m enjoying during the Irish level 5 lockdowns. Cheers from Ireland
I just purchased a mp-240 in black and I am loving it! good companion to my m6 and m7! I had a m9 and the m240 cameras are light years ahead of it.
Thanks for doin' this video buddy. Got an old M6 and a few M lenses and feelin' the need to scratch that digital M itch.. Zone focus FTW!
Great video. Also M-E 240 shooter here. Love the color output of this camera and also its monochrome mode. Also shoot with the Sony A7R but different scenes. The Sony menus are bad, agree. Much better with the M 240. This camera doesn't replace my film Ms, but as you said it makes a great addition.
I almost got this camera... But moved over to the Q platform. It's the only system where you can really viably use zone focus and Autofocus without changing lenses or hoop jumping.
I'm pretty sure I'll still pick up an m240 eventually. I just feel like i need to really try the M system on for size ha.
The M240 is a solid workhorse, but it shows its best performance with Leica lenses. For less than $3,000 you can get the 50/2.0 Summicron, and you've a dream lens. I've the 50/1.4 Summilux for under $5,000, but the investment is worth it. The MP240 has a larger buffer and worth to consider too. I can highly recommend the M240.
Paul, thanks for the comment! You are absolutely right. I rented the lux 1.4 for two weeks and have absolutely fallen in love with it. I also bought a summicron version 3 that I need to shoot with more. I will check out the mp240.
I am an M 240 shooter myself and boy I really love shooting with it. Btw, you should try a thumbs up, it really help with the ergonomics and the weight. Great video man, best of luck to you!
Go a step further and stick a hand grip on it and you're set! It just feels like a real camera.
Hi. I have the voigtlander 40mm f1.2 which I Love. I’m about to pick up a M240. Which frame lines do you find best to use with the 40mm? Thanks for the video.
I prefer the 50mm focal lines because I know I can step back and have more room available within the frame. Thanks so much for watching. I also love the 40mm 1.2 I have a video on that lens in the queue!
Thanks for posting this video. I have a Q2 and figured the 240 is the most cost effective way to try the M system. On a side note your son looks just like you.
That voigtlander 40 is so nice. The Leica version is an F2 (and co-branded as a Minolta lens too). I think the voigt is a nicer lens.
I'm on the fringe the Voigt is great, but I always have the internal pull to buy leica. I need to stop that... Lol.
I love the 40, but my 2022 discovery is the Voigtlander 40mm F1.2… bigger yes, but not so much and it is sharp wide open which is astonishing, a very special look
I think you forgot to mention the M8 as the first mirrorless camera ;-)
Ah, crap! Yes! You are right I should have clarified and mention it was the second “full-frame” mirrorless. Good catch! I also forget consistently forget about the m8.
A thrift shop??? How does that even happen??
Love to see the M 240 with Voigtländer 40mm f/1.4, as that’s my daily camera setup as well.
the 40 is one of my favorite lenses! Glad you enjoy it as well! Happy Holidays!
Is this the same 240 you found in the thrift store,? as you never show it close up. Did you eventually get the rear screen fixed?
Lol. It is. I haven’t but I need to but it’s now turned into my daily shooter so I’m having a hard time sending it away from a month or longer.
Of course it worth it, it's the only digital M I can afford in 2021 :))
It's 2021 and my black M-P is very much going strong.
Not weather sealed is a bummer
the fact that Leica still rebadge this machine, makes this camera is still worth it at least 4 more years (usual Leica update on their cameras)
im getting M-P tomorrow :D
I shoot with a Fuji X-Pro3 & X100V, but have been wanting to try my hand at a Leica range finder for some time.. The M240 looks like a wonderful camera that would scratch my itch. Nice video..
can we get that cool hat from coyote
$400...
Absolutely pure luck. Thanks for watching.
How about in 2024?...
