When I was in Korea recently (November 2022), I was pushed constantly, especially when taking the trains. I was shocked and quite traumatised since I’m from Singapore and we say excuse me when we need to alight from public transport.
Recently I have been to Korea and was there for about 50 days traveling around the whole country. In the beginning the lack of thrash cans was really weird to me, here in the Netherlands we have thrash cans pretty much everywhere. We do recycling as well at home (split plastic/paper etc). I've had a great time in Korea and it was a very warm culture. Even though I was a foreigner, I still felt very welcome in most places. I have been to Seoul and Busan, but I loved the smaller towns the most and sometimes went to the same restaurant for a couple of days and 1 evening they insisted I got the food for free (I also gave them some presents from home). I also loved the challenge the smaller towns offered because I have been to quite some places where no one could speak English so I had to get by with the little Korean I know and some translating/hand signs. Taking the ferry was kind of a challenge because nothing was in English there (at least in Mokpo and Tongyeong). The islands around Mokpo are really nice and definitely recommend taking a ferry there, it was well worth the effort. Thank you for the videos you post and it's nice to hear about it because I also experienced Korea now. I watched a couple of your videos before I went as well.
I live in the upper Midwest USA. We have two words for a certain dish. Casserole and Hotdish. I'm sure you can probably figure out why. But it strikes me funny that as a caterer half the people only understand and accept one or the other. I can make any type of normal meal into a casserole, which I use to prepare food for later use during the months of jan-mar. That is our slow time of the year. ..... Also, I accidentally did Korean habits in Japanese sushi bars. I feel guilty about that because I heard that in Korea you need to rub your chopsticks together and in Japan you don't rub them because it means you think their utensils are cheap. What do you think?

You re so beautiful ♡ I'm Greek female and we don't have buttons to cross the streets we have a good system with the traffic lights , they change many times to cross the street very quickly. Umm no we don't usually make noise when we eat but it doesn't bother us if some people do.We rarely take selfies especially in public just because we don't care about them so much haha WE are beautiful in our own different way we don't have standards like in Korea , we don't push we say excuse me and everyone moves to help you get out of buss or public transportation, we smile a lot we say hello goodmorning etc even if we don't know each other it's normal and we are people that hospitality is very high we welcome people from all over very warmly .LOve from Greece 🇬🇷 ♡♡♡♡
Im Brazilian. Here hygiene is very important, so we carry a toothbrush everywhere. It’s common to see people brushing their teeth in public bathrooms. We also don’t like using our hand to eat, we usually use cutlery for eating pizza, for example, and if it’s a sandwich, we always use a napkin to protect our hands. We also take a lot of showers, like two in a day. We are also very warm and welcoming, even to strangers. Sometimes we greet by kissing both cheeks. One thing that is interesting as well is that we’re really diverse ethnically. The Japanese community in Brazil, for example, is huge, in fact, we’ve got the biggest Japanese descendants community in the world. Same with Syrians, Germans and also the biggest black population out of Africa.
Great vid. If you have travelled / worked et in ASIA there are some rules and regulations that being a foreigner/tourist IF you choose to ignore them, can land you in real trouble. Crossing the road in some countries by 'jaywalking' can see you end up with a serious fine.. get abusive about it and you can end up being nicked.. 😶just ONE example. S Korea has a lot of real problems within society and its not immune from 'corruption' from privilege abusers? Pay up or else is nothing uncommon even if YOU are innocent ie protecting yourself from being beaten up and the other person/s come off worse guess who will be treated as the villain.. 😶S Korea I should add is NOT the only country re that hypothesis. Just remember to ALWAYS do your research and those such as Sienna are worth paying attention to re that. Opening doors and closing doors is another irritating aspect of many Asian countries where such politeness is seldom found. Don't jump queues!
I'm going to Korea soon. Probably gunna have to use the subway quite a bit. I'm also Canadian, so I'm probably gunna have the problems as your boyfriend. At least ik what to expect now, thank you.
