Well it doesn't look like a great TV in comparison for what you can get with more money these days... HOWEVER if you are upgrading from a 6-10 year old or older TV this will most likely be a huge upgrade for little price...
Maybe a good kitchen or spare bedroom TV. Definitely wouldn't be my main TV. But the funny thing is a lot of people might like it because it has a built in fire stick OS. And it's not really an expensive TV for most people on a strict budget.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions and my opinion is I find it interesting that people compare a 43 inch TV like this for $300 to a 43 inch TV that is double the price that is going to have possibly more features and possibly better specs. You get what you pay for and some people are going to be perfectly fine with that.
correct, but are those differences worth the extra money. For me, as soon as I see it is Chinese I immediately add 999 trillion dollars to the price. I don't care what the features of it are I don't want that Winnie the poo looking mother fucker spying on me.
picked one up for 270 and I think thats a pretty good deal for it. Last tv I had was 1080p 60hz 48inch that I paid about 1000 dollars for when it was new many years ago. Kinda crazy how cheap tv's have become.
Weird that you guys didn't talk about the most egregious issue and that's just how shockingly inaccurate it is. You guys gave it a 1.5 and I believe that's the worst score a TV has ever gotten from you. Seems like kind of an important detail. Especially since you mentioned that there's no way to calibrate it.

I just bought a refurb 55" off Woot for 200 bills. I placed it in my bonus room with an inexpensive Vizio soundbar. I have no complaints about the performance of this TV. I'm also happy that it has more memory than the 43" it replaces so I don't have to worry about it slowing down and running out of memory so fast.
You guys sound like the TV is dirt cheap while in fact as of now the Hisense U6G 55 inch is actually cheaper. And the TCL 4 series with similar if not better performance is almost a third cheaper.
@@Motor-City_Ben-Diesel Only the screen size makes it worth it at that price. Everything else about it is terrible. I bet if someone actually informed you about TV's, you would've at least gone with a TCL or Hisense model instead.
Amazon had a limited quantity sale on the 43 inch for $99 Compated to $349 I'm not complaining. Dude most people like us don't sweat the small differences in picture quality and don't feel spending huge sums for the so called perfect picture is necessary
I bought this TV because my 2 and a half year old Samsung died (Samsung never again!). Everything seems a little worse than on my Samsung but it's still completely acceptable. It's slower and there are fewer adjustments possible. But for my use (3 hours of Netflix per day in the evening), it's good. If it lasts more than 2 and a half years, it will definitely be a good buy.
Good review. So many negatives (even for the price). On a side note: going to use this as a good foundation for Amazon reviews. If this gets a high star rating on Amazon (other then price), I will know how bad it has become.
I wouldn't necessarily call it indicative of Amazon reviews, but rather the lack of true interest in a product those reviewers are buying if they buy low-cost/low-tier to begin with. The price is always going to be the biggest factor there, so in this case a good-sized screen and an in-built Fire Stick for a cheap price is very likely going to net high ratings. You tend to see more pushback in reviews starting in the mid-tier, where people start to care at least a little more about the quality, and expect it for the increased cost. Cheap products have low bars for most people and, as long as they aren't objectively broken, tend to garner decent review scores from the average Joe.
WADR, that makes absolutely no sense friend. I myself have submitted reviews on many items I've purchased & every 1 has been posted & counted. While I would never buy anything highly rated by less than at least a few hundred people, Thousands of reviews can't be wrong, both positive & negative, & other than the fire tv, every review 4 1/2 stars (The maximum rrating as a 5 is very rare-not everyone is happy with their purchase, many for reasons having little to nothing to do with the actual item, but for late delivery, damaged or defective items, & other ridiculous reasons) has lived up to the reviews. I never purchase less than 4 1/2 stars, period.
I had one and sent it back. It did a very poor job upscaling in my opinion. I agree though upscaling capability with real world content is always missing from Rtings. They concentrate on numbers (primarily black levels and brightness). I will say the upscaling of their highly rated U6G (while better than the FireTV) still doesn't match that of even the lower end Samsung and Sony sets.
@@KM-tr1mp Always said they don't deserve their high reputation, Their reviews are OK most of the time but I don't count on them to have a clear view. Like a maths teacher crunching number on his students.

Unless you absolutely need the bigger TV, then go for the U8G as it's better overall. The U8G has better reflection handling and higher peak brightness, so it can more easily overcome glare in a bright room. The U8G also has a better local dimming feature, better black uniformity, and the unit we bought is more accurate out of the box. Finally, the U8G has a faster response time and a slightly wider color gamut.
