They just discounted this down to $500 for a 65”. That’s a fair price for this, and probably better than most in the competitive set. $500 gets you a Hisense A6G (not U6G) of the same size or a Vizio V5. At least you get the benefit of a VA panel and better software than the Vizio. I’d take the Omni over those two. $600 for 65” might even be acceptable, but the $830 launch price was absurd.
Why it was absurd can you tell? Like there are way more expensive TVs even at 55" what does this TV lack that not even doesn't worth $830 but also is absurd price?
@@YavNe This comment was from nearly a year ago, and prices have gone all over the place since then, but in sum, the Fire TV Omni was a VA panel (good), with no local dimming (bad), that could not get particularly bright (bad), ran a slow and complex Fire TV OS (Roku and Android are stabler and work better), and had a 60 Hz refresh rate with no HDMI 2.1 support. You could get a comparable feature set in the TCL 5 series, which has sold at around $500-$600 and adds the benefit of local dimming. A Sony X85K at least gets you a 120Hz screen, better brightness and native contrast, and sells around $800. The TVs that are much, much more expensive than this TV was at launch are largely much better TVs. Sony X90J, Hisense U8H aren't all that much more expensive than this and blows it out of the water. Hisense U7H is frequently cheaper than the Omni and would eat it for lunch.
Thank you Caleb for the review. I was literally waiting this because I was in between U7G and the Omni 65 and the U7G is $150 CAD more than Omni but its more worth for 120Hz and better blacks. Congratulations in advance for the 1M subscribers.. could not wait further.. I subscribed too. :)
You won’t be disappointed with the U7G; grabbed mine a few months ago thanks to Caleb’s video on it as at the time I was torn between it and it’s TCL competitor, and I’m glad to say that I love going with Hisense. I’m switching from a 42’ Roku powered Hisense and the level up is unreal and for me as a console gamer, my PS5 is loving the features with this thing!
Got the 55" version of this TV for $120 from a lightning deal, and will be using it as a bedroom TV. Don't think I can beat it at that price point but I appreciate the review none the less!
Have to agree bought the 50 inch as a bedroom TV on pre-sale, set it up, watched it for 3 days then boxed it up and returned it. To me the worse was the upscaling ability. The picture was just too soft no matter how much I played with the settings. My primary TV is a Samsung TU8000 (so not a higher end OLED or QLED) and picture quality between the two was drastic.
Agreed, the discount was like 230 bucks off. I think for 600 this tv isn't such a bad deal. They should probably set the price closer to that post holiday time though or these reviews will keep insisting the price is too high for the "alright" quality.
I'm a bit confused. You talk about the Hisense U7G which is currently priced on Amazon at $898.90 being only a little more money than the Omni, but the Omni on Amazon is priced at $599.00. The Hisense is 50% MORE than the Amazon unit. Sure it has true 120hz and full array local dimming but it doesn't have FireTv built in. Am I looking at the wrong models or has Amazon had a sudden price decrease ? Anyone ?
@@ARUclipsChannelwithNoName it’s fine but I use a sound bar to fully support the Dolby sound feature. Base tv sounds good but maybe a bit thin however I’ve not really listened to it or fiddled with the controls.
"Do I really care about black levels while I'm camping?.... Well, turns out I do." 😂 Thanks for the good and thorough review. Disappointed that it didn't fare better given its design language from TCL, but good to know it's maybe worth skipping at this point.
For anyone looking at this review, may 2022, the 65 inch Omni is $499 (Amazon), while the recommended Hisense u7g 65 inch is $799 (Best Buy) … so factor that you in
I bought a TV 3 years and it just stopped working. I've been looking @ this one to replace it but with a warranty this time. My main motivation for buying this particular TV is its 46% off rn.
To be fair enough the 55" is now 379 and the omni 400 bucks, there's nothing wrong with budget TVs, I'm not sure if the U7G is on the same league. Nice review tho
I buy Amazon branded stuff too, always been ok (small stuff, never a tv). I always figured they were a big buyer, probably imposed some level of quality on suppliers. I'll avoid big ticket items 👍
@@Jupiter9999 Amazon prime itself sells warranties from different insurance companies. But they vary by price of item. Since the TV cost under 200, the warranty will only cover the amount paid for the TV. Which might not really be worth it.
We got the 75" Omni for 749.99. I understand it's a limited deal but it's probably the correct price for this TV. I would not have gotten it had it been 1099.99.
I really like the convenience of Fire TV built in. Not having to switch inputs and remotes. I have a current one based on Insignia and it's decent enough for bedroom use, this might be a decent upgrade. Support for Echo Studio as.an audio device is an attraction for sure.
What does having built-in Fire TV have to do with not having to switch inputs and remotes? Were you using Amazon Fire TV Stick? Though usually dedicated tv boxes do have better image quality a thing to keep in mind.
Is this tv easy to use? You can do everything only with your voice. I need this for my 93 years old mom. For she is almost imposible to use the remote, but she loves videos, so I want for her the easier smart tv.
Why would you have a pc capable of 120hz at 4k yet choose to buy this TV? I dont think there is a situation I would choose 120hz 1080p over 4k 60hz at standard viewing distance unless you were playing competitively in which case you would not be using a TV.
I'm still enjoying Roku as my go to streaming platform for how long though I don't know since RUclips and Prime Video are not supposed to be on it in the near future. That being said I'll avoid TV's like this. I have a 2016 65 inch Samsung 4K TV it still works great minus the OS being outdated (I got a Roku Ultra hooked up to it) and a little black dot on the upper left side of the screen it's an older model so maybe I shouldn't expect too much out of it but it still functions and Samsung's have always worked well for me so I'll keep it around until it has run its course. I looked up the price for repairing it and it's honestly not worth fixing for $600 especially with TV's constantly changing every year. I think once 8K hits the market and my TV in my living room craps out only then will I upgrade it for now though I am good with what I got.
The built-in *hands-free* Alexa is better for elderly or disabled adults who have difficulty with technology and trouble physically pressing the remote button for other "built-in" Alexa products (like a Fire Stick or non-Omni Amazon TVs). Much more seamless and less problems for relatives troubleshooting from afar.
This review video is about to have a lot of viewing before Prime Day.... It's part of the deal that makes it about $112 after an 80% discount. Would be nice if Caleb could comment whether that makes it worth a pick up to replace a household still full of 1080p TVs 👀
Me also. I was able to snag one during the lightning deal today and after taxes it was $116.59. At this price point I think it's safe to say it's well worth it. Anything else for that price would pale in comparison. It will be replacing a 50" 1080p 3D plasma Panasonic. One of the last and best plasma TV's ever made. Sad to see it go because honestly it still looks great and has held up so well. Some of the best colors and blacks on any TV I've owned. Even when compared to my main TV, a Sony 65" xr-65x90j. My only complaints about the plasma is it runs really warm like most plasmas and the UI is very dated and slow.
Does this tv have a se ond audio out? Do you have a work around for using fire stick and external speakers at the same time? Households with a hearing impared person need it.
Something that I have not been able to find any info on is what sort of processor is inside these Amazon Omni/4-Series tv's. I currently have the current Fire Cube. Is this tv worth getting with the built-in Amazon Fire interface or am I better off just getting a different TV and keep using the Fire Cube?
WebOS is my favorite on TV's, runs smooth and looks clean. I have a question for you Caleb, are there any good smaller TV's that you would recommend for small spaces, like in a small bedroom? I see a lot of 32 inch TV's with 720p displays in 2021, and Vizio has a new TV at the 24 inch size, with 1080p. I need a small TV like a 32 inch for some gaming and movie watching. Not looking for anything super fancy or high end.
the 65 wound up being about 600 and I thought that was a pretty nice price drop myself for the holiday deals. it was 230 bucks off. I think I can handle a few under perfect specs for 230 bucks off. That's me though.
I'm looking for an alexa tv that can be used by voice 100%. My mom is 93 years old and, when I'm not at home, she is not able to use our Samsung smar tv. We have an alexa echo, but it can only play music or turn off the tv. We need a tv where she, only with her voice can turn on youtobe in the tv and can whatch her favorite videos hand free. I'm not interested in a super image quality or in games, only in the easier smart tv for a senior. Is this that tv?
Any luck getting an arc connection? My receiver is an Onkyo 787 with arc and earc on this tv. I have to use optical cable rather than an arc connection getting Atmos compressed.
I see products like Amazon saying, here's our fire tv stick bundled with an alright TV/that can do a coupe extra things, a 2 in 1 idea, rather than the middle ground between high end and affordable, but it's just the first try as you said.
How much was the 65 inch when you made this video? Because prime day 7/12/22 the 75 inch is 750 but some confusing language about getting it for 625 AND a 125 gift card wondering if that's a more realistic price point for its performance
Amazon prime is going downhill so fast. The only thing holding it together is the delivery and yellowstone. And why havent you reviewed the TCL 6 series yet?
I will make a comment. On Amazon my name may be known..but I'm not affiliated or took money from third partys.. So.. I owned a Hisense 50 inch..A couple weeks ago I got a black circle dead center of the screen.. Small.. The TV was Beautiful 100% Hisense buy one no argument there just a glitch.. .. Long story short I looked at reviews and decided to buy the 50 inch Omni Amazon ..Truth and respect for you mentioning it .. I did not know this was Amazons first TV.. Swear to god.. So I was surprised.. When you said that...Respect. The Hisense and every other TV I owned had the same picture grain whatever. The Amazon Omni.. It's different... It's like taking TV life and putting you right there with them.. A long time ago there was RCA,,Sylvania, GE, Sony, There was one TV that looked different.. That one was Zenith..That picture was different from all the rest... Zenith operated on a hot ground.. Technician stuff.. Very hard to trouble shoot without a schematic..Every technician I knew just replaced the boards and boy that was expensive... . When somebody makes a difference completely against every TV . This Omni TV.. is no joke.. It's different.. If your different.. Give it a try.. Hisense great TV.. Amazon Omni a breath of fresh air from traditional tv..
I prefer Roku - no ads, lets me pick my streaming services without pushing Amazon content like Fire Sticks ( and too many ads on Fire ) . But RUclips is leaving Roku.
Great review like always.. You always give me the information I need, and information I didn't know I needed. Appreciate the honest and thorough reviews!
Hey, could you please make a comparison between latest Omni TV 55" or 50"(as Pioneer doesn't have 55" size) and 50" Pioneer PN50951-22U 4K LED Smart Fire TV?
We bought the Omni and couldn’t figure out why we didn’t just save a few bucks and buy the 4 series instead. Given they both have the exact same picture. So that’s exactly what we did.
Bought the 55” Omni Amazon tv and while it is decent, I feel it falls behind in brightness and some coloring. Just never gets as vivid as my old 2015 5 series Samsung tv. This Amazon tv no matter how much I adjust it just can’t get as bright as other TVs. Almost as if it’s like on a hidden eco mode that you can’t adjust. Very annoying when it’s very bright in a room or just average light coming into the room, it is too dark to enjoy the picture…. Like when you try watching Amazon prime videos on a phone… it just doesn’t go as bright but this happens on every app I’ve tried. It’s been 1 day with this tv and am Thinking of returning to go grab another Samsung. Also it seems to lose Picture quality as soon as you step left or right if dead center and especially when you view at an angle…
Im in the same boat. Did you end up taking it back? Im thinking about doing the same. For some reason, 2 BB employees don't recommend a Samsung at all, so idk why, Might go and get the Hisense or TCL.
@@jordanstinson2505 I never did return it. It’s been a couple weeks of use… still find the picture and Firetv system to be not in the same league as my Samsung and Roku device. Never heard anything bad about Samsung from any Bestbuy employee, I think the only reason I kept the Amazon is because it works with our Echo devices and you can control mostly everything on the TVs by voice with Alexa. Makes it nice when your busy with your hands or can’t find the remote, you can turn it in and off, change shows for kids, adjust volume and more. I still have my old Samsung in another room, and still run back n forth comparing them. Definitely huge difference in day time brightness. @@MXvsATV144 well, yeah that’s a good idea then. I just got this tv for my bedroom. I got a LG CX 65” for my living room. I like the apps, and how it’s setup. I just wish it was a little brighter, only really negative complaint about it

Hey Caleb, those numbers you measured are in line with a TCL 4-Series. Worse than expected. The new TCL 5 5-Series is actually fairly decent and around 700 nits. If it was a rebadged S546 it wouldn't be that bad, but as is I completely agree with you.
I have no idea what my Toshiba Fire Tv i got 3 years ago on Black Friday is compared to it. But since its just a flop down and watch TV, not my main movie TV, Ive been extremely happy with it. Picture quality to me looks great. Side by side to a better tv, I assume I could see the difference. For the price point of a 50" and the deal I got, is why I got it. This would be a tv for a random kids room, an older gentleman or women just to watch their shows. Just does a job and moves on
I think I'll stick with my Smart TV and just buy the Fire Cube based on what you alluded to in this excellent video.Great info. Any thoughts on the most recent Fire Cube? I am new to streaming (which I want to switch to very soon) and it is very confusing out here if you never streamed TV before. Thanks in advance. Philip
"It's own brand of TV" Funny because when I bought a 55" omni series the audio wouldn't sync, customer service said it wasn't their brand and had to get it replaced by OMNI TV. Omni TV is a Canadian broadcasting company. Has nothing to do with manufacturing TV's. The OMNI is only the name Amazon gave this model TV. Did you catch that? Have to agree bought the 50 inch as a bedroom TV on pre-sale, set it up, watched it for 3 days then boxed it up and returned it. To me the worse was the upscaling ability. The picture was just too soft no matter how much I played with the settings. My primary TV is a Samsung TU8000 (so not a higher end OLED or QLED) and picture quality between the two was drastic.
More competition the better. I do think the price for the 65" is high, but probably designed to look like a huge discounted Black Friday deal.
Agreed, the discount was like 230 bucks off. I think for 600 this tv isn't such a bad deal. They should probably set the price closer to that post holiday time though or these reviews will keep insisting the price is too high for the "alright" quality.
It's on sale now for $630
@@percys.s2325 I can’t believe it’s on sale now for $499 as of 7/18/22!!!
I can't believe you guys haven't reached 1 mil yet, but thankss for the review as always
Our pleasure!
Anyone ?
Nice jacket boss!!! Can’t wait till you hit 1 mill!!
I ended up paying $500 for this TV, a 65 inch model. Totally worth it and best I can afford at the moment.
How’s the sound quality?
@@ARUclipsChannelwithNoName it’s fine but I use a sound bar to fully support the Dolby sound feature. Base tv sounds good but maybe a bit thin however I’ve not really listened to it or fiddled with the controls.
"Do I really care about black levels while I'm camping?.... Well, turns out I do." 😂
Thanks for the good and thorough review. Disappointed that it didn't fare better given its design language from TCL, but good to know it's maybe worth skipping at this point.
Yeah, that was pretty amusing.😊
Sounds like something I would say haha
Ended up choosing the Omni 65 cause it’s on sale for 499.99 while it’s competitors are still at 700-1000
That’s my current dilemma. I don’t think he mentions the price he’s talking about. So I have no foundation for the argument.
The 55 is 299 now. Might get
For anyone looking at this review, may 2022, the 65 inch Omni is $499 (Amazon), while the recommended Hisense u7g 65 inch is $799 (Best Buy) … so factor that you in
I bought a TV 3 years and it just stopped working. I've been looking @ this one to replace it but with a warranty this time.
My main motivation for buying this particular TV is its 46% off rn.
Are you guys going to review the new TCL 5 & 6 series???
He has
Is the amazon 4 series worth buying? Or our Hisense TVs a reliable brand?
The 65 inch is on sale for $640 Canadian atm, lower than 5 series for $999 Canadian. Hence, it’s a solid buy!
Do u think it's worth spending more for the TCL or maybe a Samsung tu 8000
What about the 55 Omni at $409 price point?
To be fair enough the 55" is now 379 and the omni 400 bucks, there's nothing wrong with budget TVs, I'm not sure if the U7G is on the same league.
Nice review tho
I buy Amazon branded stuff too, always been ok (small stuff, never a tv). I always figured they were a big buyer, probably imposed some level of quality on suppliers. I'll avoid big ticket items 👍
I have the shield and I love it. I gave my firestick to my son.
I've been watching your videos forever and never realized you were in Portland!
Just got the 55 inch for 109.99 off prime day 2022
Same! Congrats, this is a great deal.
@@Jupiter9999 wonder if a warranty is worth adding? Will they cover the $109 price of the tv or the retail value
@@Jupiter9999 Amazon prime itself sells warranties from different insurance companies. But they vary by price of item. Since the TV cost under 200, the warranty will only cover the amount paid for the TV. Which might not really be worth it.
@@PuertoR0ck yeah you're right. It's really not worth it if they are only going to cover $109.
Damn, Kimmi Raikkonen have a channel about digital trends
Thanks for your honesty, this is why I watch your videos before buying anything.
Great review!
I love the fire tv app. So simple and easy to use.
i dont like the comparison between the omni and hisense u7g + fire stick max. the u7g is over 600 dollars, and the omni 50" is 360. its just not fair
I had high hopes for this TV. If the price was a bit less and it did 120Hz for gaming, I could deal with the lower brightness and inaccurate colors.
Why would you have a pc capable of 120hz at 4k yet choose to buy this TV? I dont think there is a situation I would choose 120hz 1080p over 4k 60hz at standard viewing distance unless you were playing competitively in which case you would not be using a TV.
@@En_Joshi-Godrez you ever think not everyone has a pc?
That's why I'm here
What kind of TV speakers you used.
Worth it on the current steep sale?
What I’m thinking, 300 for 43inch?
Can these TVs work with a regular cable/DVD setup? And with remotes that have number buttons?
How is reflection handling? 👀
Is it worth it now with the Black Friday prices?
The 55" omni is on sale for $409. At that price, it's a great buy, right?
the 65 wound up being about 600 and I thought that was a pretty nice price drop myself for the holiday deals. it was 230 bucks off. I think I can handle a few under perfect specs for 230 bucks off. That's me though.
It's 289 now
I'm looking for an alexa tv that can be used by voice 100%.
The 43" is currently on sale for 299USD and the Hisense 43" R7G5 for 250USD. Which one would be a better deal?
My go-to streamer is Apple TV, second is the Amazon Cube…I noticed the Amazon Cube shows a better picture on my Sony A8H OLED.
Just bought the 55” for $127 looking forward to it
Where did you get it
was an amazon deal at the time@@cocopuff6810
100% gonna try to pick this up for $150 on prime day
65" is Currently $629cad.. is it a good buy @ that price? I don't see any 65s under that price.
This helped me prevent a mistake. Thanks a bunch!!!
55" U7G is $599. a 55" Omni is $299. That's kind of a no-brainer when you just want an extra bedroom tv.
Amazon prime is going downhill so fast. The only thing holding it together is the delivery and yellowstone. And why havent you reviewed the TCL 6 series yet?
Would you recommend a insignia tv 4K f30 over the Amazon Omni
Was that picture of you golfing at a local course? I’ve played a lot of golf at Eastmoreland and Glendoveer in Portland so I’m curious
Can you connect echo speakers to this tv similar to the way you can with the Fire TV Cube?
I prefer Roku - no ads, lets me pick my streaming services without pushing Amazon content like Fire Sticks ( and too many ads on Fire ) . But RUclips is leaving Roku.
Great review like always.. You always give me the information I need, and information I didn't know I needed. Appreciate the honest and thorough reviews!
I got my 65 inch for $499 and I'm happy with it at that price.
What is the voltage? It works with 110 v to 240 v?
Great video, really clear to the point content.
The Hisense U7G remains at the top of my Wishlist
I would assume the 2020 series 7 Samsung is improved upon bs the 2015 model I have
@@MXvsATV144 well, yeah that’s a good idea then. I just got this tv for my bedroom. I got a LG CX 65” for my living room. I like the apps, and how it’s setup. I just wish it was a little brighter, only really negative complaint about it
Do you think a 75inch Amazon omni is worth it at 499?
Does anybody know what formats are supported through eArc? I am looking for soundbars and do not know what to buy. Current options are Vizio soundbars V5.1 M5.1 or M2.1.
Looks like Amazon has dropped Omni price to 599. I also found a 1 year old used Hisense U7G for 400. Which would you choose?
Hi! When do you come out with your X95J review?
Caleb are these TVs a waste of time being that there are so many other well known TVs out there with much more to offer and are not that much more expensive. For example TCL and Hisense and some Vizio models seem like better choices to me. Just my opinion and thoughts
The 43" is $99 on prime day. Im hopi g i make the reserve list as you cannot beat that price.
Any chance your going to do the tcl 6 series google tv?? I can’t seem to get the setting correct… don’t know if it’s my brand new tv or if it’s just me lol
At 599 Do you recommend it
Thank you for this review! I needed a 50in tv and looks like I’ll just be sticking to the Hisense u6G.
Love your channel, and the honest reviews! I was hoping this tv would fair better.
I just use firestick. Very easy to keep me subscriptions straight and buy things if i want. Plus x-ray view etc
Thanks for the review. I was seriously wondering if I should put this TV on my Xmas. (To: Jim, From: Jim) but your words definitely changed my mind. I guess I'm stuck with my Panasonic Viera for a bit longer.
Philip
There is a prime day deal where the 48 inch version is only 100 bucks. Should I grab it?
I’m pretty sure it’s the 43 inch one, not 48.
@@Micah__ Right sorry. Could not remember exactly.
Would this work with a PS4?
If you could get this tv for around $550 would it be a good buy for the price?
Would $300 be a good deal for a 55 inch Omni fire stick tv? Bc I just got one for $300
"It's own brand of TV"
Funny because when I bought a 55" omni series the audio wouldn't sync, customer service said it wasn't their brand and had to get it replaced by OMNI TV.
Omni TV is a Canadian broadcasting company. Has nothing to do with manufacturing TV's.
The OMNI is only the name Amazon gave this model TV.
Did you catch that?
If my IBM ThinkPad broke and they told me, "Sorry it's not our computer, you have to contact the THINKPAD company."
It's only when I wrote a review documenting how Kafkaesque and stupid Amazon was that they offered to replace it.
Great video... Almost pulled the trigger on the 75 inch versio! Now I'm going to look for a better TV for around the same $$.. Subbed !
what price did you pay? it now 40% off
I love android tv (Google tv) a lot but roku is less buggy... but Google tv is my choice.. I'm still holding out to see what's in store for 2022 and saving up for a new tv. If I don't like what I see then sony x95j or A80J it is...
The tv is 50% off. Can it be beat at THAT price? I’m considering it so help is appreciated.
Somebody Knows How to use the IR Emitter that comes with the TV?
the TV is now on sale for $749.99... what about that ??? the u7g hisense 75 is 999.99, +$250. What 75inch is better that for the price range? only things are 75S431 or onn ..... i hear recovery mode problems are bad with 75S431
