Hey everyone! There’s a section where the video recording betrays the narrative because what we caught on camera doesn’t match what I see live. This happens a lot, but in this case, you’ll have to take me works for it - the Sony has a slightly ruddier tone than the more neutral Panasonic - even though the Panny looks a bit orange in the video, I assure you it doesn’t in person. Caleb - do you have any insight on why so many TV manufacturers use nearly the same naming scheme...or have until now? Sony X95, A95; Panasonic W95, Z95; Samsung QN95, S95......
I honestly didn't notice the orange effect, what I noticed with watching on my BenQ 4K monitor (not the best panel to collate data from, but it works for me), was that the camera position made the Sony have some off angle colour muted moments. That and the youtube compression was making the Sony pixelated. Panasonic made a really competitive tv for the Bravia 7 though, there were times where I could barely tell the difference between the two. Note: (Edit) I do see the slight orange effect, if watching the video in HDR, SDR, its not present, but in HDR it is. Had to switch browsers to notice. Normally, I use Firefox for video, but I switched to Opera, and I do see the slight orange effect with the HDR enabled in it. I agree that the video ad on startup would be annoying, though I haven't seen it myself on the firestick my family uses in the living room. I'd probably look for a setting to turn it off, since I try to minimize the ads that FireOS is putting out. It was the main reason I went with it, as at the time, the Google TV options and updated Android TV devices were throwing more ads out, more often, and sometimes overriding streaming services for it. I find as an OS, FireTV is solid, and I agree, they should put an input button on the remote for the dedicated TV remotes. I haven't experienced Google's updated TV OS myself, but I'm not opposed to it, as I really like the remote design.
I don't think you're being harsh on the viewing angle or reflection handling. Look, you get to sample dozens of tvs a year in a home environment. Anyone who buys ONE tv this year, doesn't. I'm glad people are happy with their purchase and are willing to give their impressions. But if you notice something being better or worse than another product, I would expect you to mention it. My two cents.
My first flat panel TV was a 42 inch Panasonic Viera plasma circa 2009. I loved that TV! My nephew actually was still using it up until the picture started to have issues in 2023. I actually replaced the Panasonic plasma with an insignia fire TV OS. I wasn’t a huge fan of that smart TV, but it does work. I usually just use an external box such as a Roku or Apple TV in my setups, but he is OK with fire TV OS.
Im definitely glad panasonic is back in the US market. Als long as they release a few mid-high range miniled and oled tvs each year then it should only improve competition and encourage LG, samsung, and sony to keep working at getting better. Competition is always great! Im excited for the OLED review.
No Caleb you did great pointing out the poor viewing angles and other cons of both the Bravia 7 and this Panasonic TV. I've seen it in person, and you are 100% correct that viewing angle of the Bravia 7 is mediocre though not as a mediocre as the TCL counterparts, e.g the TCL C855. Please continue with these honest and critical reviews and do not sugar coat anything.
Bought this for my mother a few weeks ago to replace her aging LG C9 OLED. It was a surprise for her and she absolutely loves it. She doesn't even pay THAT close of attention to picture quality, but told me many times since how much she loves the new Panasonic. As for me, I'm still rocking my 65" ZT60. But I've very much got my eye on a Z85 . . .
I own both a sony high end led tv, a 2010/11 kdl 40hx803, and a 58 inch panasonic 802b, from 2016. Both still fucntion excellently with no issues, and ive kept them in good condition. The picture quality on both are still steller (ageing but still), the pansonic has been good enough that ive put off buying a new main tv for this long. Both companies excell at making TVs, and that includes the qulaity and reliability of them. Even in europe Panasonic led tvs were quite overlooked, but they are, just like their oleds, great tvs. I just bought a 40 inch Panasonic oled for gaming, and will be replacing my 802b, with another Sony or Panasonic. Great review.
Still have two 65in and one 55in Plasmas, Still going super strong, with amazing pictures. I will not upgrade till each dies... but this is where Im going when they do.
Panasonic stayed out of the premium TV market for so long I’m concerned that only enthusiasts will remember just how good of a TV manufacturer they are and they will exit the market after disappointing sales. I hope I’m wrong.
Panasonic reputation is so solid… so most people will still remember the brand! If i just could afford to pay the price they are asking (for good reasons) Panasonic would be my number one pick any day!
I currently have a Panasonic FX600 LED from 2018 and for a mid range TV at the time, it still has an excellent picture due to Panasonic’s top tier processing. I’m pretty sure the W95A will be my next TV. I’ve seen these in stores next to the Bravia 7 and Samsung QN90D all playing the same content and the Panasonic stood out the most to me. I asked the store assistant if I could switch them all to their respective default film maker modes and that made the Panasonic stand out even more. I think bang for buck, you can’t go wrong with a Panasonic.
The TV OS shouldn't be a deal breaker. These high end TVs should be paired with an Apple TV if you like iOS or Google TV streamer if you like Android. I have an LG and rarely even look at it's OS.
@@kenhbeach that works too but isn't it getting long in the tooth? Hasn't Google TV surpassed its Android Version? But I do understand to play external medía it's far superior.
You still have to interact with it to adjust settings, I too have an LG and their little ads in the upper right that pop up remind me of why I’d prefer another OS.
Regarding the lack of an input button on the remote, I have two tips: 1. There's a customizable button just to the right of the Settings button on the remote. Hold it for a few seconds to bring up a menu that lets you assign that button to something, then choose More Actions and Switch Inputs. 2. You can switch inputs from the home row on the home screen. From anywhere, just press the Home button to go to the home screen, then press Left 3 times to reach the input selector. Honestly, I prefer the second option, and this is one of the little things that makes me prefer Fire TV over certain other TV OSes.
I have (3) ZT60 (65”) Panasonic, and (1) ST 58” plasmas tv’s, all are working great and have amazing colors with no burn ins. The ZT’s were purchased in 2014, and the ST in 2009
Thank you, Caleb for the always excellent reviews! I love my 15 YO 54" Panasonic plasma; I know it is time to replace it, though, so I have been watching tons of reviews to find the perfect fit for me. The brightness of my plasma is not the same anymore, but color accuracy has always been fantastic. I am so happy that Panasonic has been brought back; I have come to trust its dependability very much and that is important to me... assuming they still have a high manufacturing standard. I'll wait a little to see if it comes down in price and certainly consider it among my other top choices. Thanks again!
Absolutely true, they used to have the best TV's. I've bought like three Panasonic TVs in the 99s before switching to LG from 2000 to this day. I think I may go back with Panasonic with this review. Great review, Caleb.
In my opinion Pioneer had better picture than Panasonic, but Panasonic was way cheaper in my country. I remember my brother bought a great Panasonic 50 inch, for it´s time it was very cheap. I bought a Sony 46 inch just 2 years earlier and it was about 3 times that price, but the Panasonic plasma was way better than expensive Sony LCD garbage.
Thank you for the review! Back in 1997 I bought a Panasonic rear projection tv. It was a great tv in 1997. I will definitely consider the W95a when I decide to upgrade.
I’m glad you pointed out the narrow viewing angles. If you glossed over the negatives, it wouldn’t be much of a review. Please keep up the awesome work 👏🏻
It's nice to see Panasonic back and a true alternative to Sony. I still have my GT30 plasma and is still my go-to for 3D viewing, which blows away my Sony 4K 3D TV from 2016.. No display issues and no burn-in. Thanks for the review.
As always, I love your reviews and unboxing videos. I had a Panasonic plasma tv from back in the mid 2000’s which has been passed around in my family for years. And it’s still working. Even though, I can’t see me buying another one due to the Fire OS. I detest it. I love my google tv and Tizen. Don’t really care for the Roku either
I would have appreciated a comparison to the Hisense U8N and the TCL QM8. I'm buying a 75 inch TV this season and need to know which way to go. So far, I'm leaning to the Hisense U8N because of its color saturation, but those other two TVs are so tempting. Any input/ ideas? Caleb? Anyone? And where is Toshiba? Panasonic and Toshiba were my two favorite brands back then. Thank you all.
I have a LG C9 Oled from 2019.. no issues whatsoever, picture still looks as good as it did new. Just curious would this mini LED look better than mine? My assumption would be my contrast/colors/blacks would look better.. but max brightness is substantially higher with the Panasonic so HDR content would likely look better?
Another great review Caleb! That said, I am one of those people who don't need to be BLINDED by the Light and HATE Rainbow Effect, so for me; I will take Reflection over Rainbow everyday of the week. Different strokes. As for AMAZON, I have a Amazon TV in my GYM, and while the picture is good, the OS / AD city? Annoys me every time. So much so that I stuck a ROKU on it to get away from it.
I am debating internally about getting a W95A, Bravia 7, or QN95D (55 INCH) for my living room. I can get them now for 850, 1100 and 1275 GMP. General use, streaming platforms, UK TV, PS5. What would you go for?
Hello great video. I have a question I am looking for a great 4k TV in 85 inches Can you give me some choices within my 1,200 budget ? Thanks and keep up the great videos
Good review. As far as the Fire OS goes can’t you simply put a Roku or Google stick in it to get around the Fire? That shouldn’t deter anyone. The picture looks great on both tv’s as I watch it on my new Sony x90l. 😉
@@pieflies Just yesterday you could get a 65" for $998 and today it's up $100. I purchased it a week ago at a higher price but fortunately the company I bought it from honored the discounted price and refunded me the difference. So I got lucky. I feel sure it will be discounted again around black Friday.
Great review. I'm very interested in this tv, but there is one aspect I'm skeptical about: how does the HDR impact measure against the brighter mini-LED's like the Bravia 9? I know the B9 is much more expensive so it is not a fair comparison, however it is still very useful to know where this tv is positioned on the spectrum. This tv ticks so many boxes for my personal preferences, but I'm still somewhat apprehensive. If there's anything you can tell me about this it's greatly appreciated. I'm also keen to know how it performs in game mode, but I'm aware I'll have to look elsewhere for that information.
A Long Time Ago. In a Galaxy Far, Far Away...I was a salesman at the Larger Electronics Stores in the Chicagoland area..(Fretter's, Silo...ok just two) but it was what you just explained what we saw everyday. Sony TV's were bright on reds. Mitsubishi were bright on cyan, Toshiba were bright on white, and Panasonic just did all of the colors to a well blended picture. I own three Panasonic televisions from the early 2000's and all three work perfect. Glad to see them back...too bad they have the Amazon "crap" installed. Like to see them be offered without all of the "extras".
One thing I wish would be added to these reviews is whether the TV honors the last used input. What I mean by that is: Say I have it set to HDMI1 and then turn it off. When I turn it back on, will it go directly to HDMI1 or will it go to a home page full of ads? My TV is on HDMI1 99% of the time as that's where my HTPC is connected to. I don't want to have to click through ad-riddled pages every time I turn it on just to get back to my HTPC input. Oh, and while I'm making wishes: How does it react if it doesn't have an internet connection? Will it show the OTA program guide or will it show nothing? My old Samsung TV (2014) shows the OTA program guide but my TCL (2023) refuses to show any guides when not allowed online.
Usually FireTVs have a setting that lets you specify to go to last input used or even better, specify the input you want on startup. I set this for my mom on a Toshiba Fire tv so it would always start with her Roku.
You recapping the Panasonic picture philosophy basically describes my old Panasonic GAOO CRT TV from decades ago. Faithful but not super punchy like the Sony Trinitrons. I'm glad they haven't changed.
I am seriously considering this TV for my replacement, but still wondering if it will be a good fit for gaming since it will be about 40% used for that. No input button does hurt, but that is a minor "nit-pick" 😉 if the rest is "fire." I'll see my self out . . . Great review though! Looking forward to Panasonic being an option/available again.
192 dimming zones does seem low in this price point compared to competition (b7's 480, u8n's 2000, qm8's 2880+ / qm7's 1200+ etc) but maybe the processing makes up for it was expecting it to be a bit more accurate on the eotf though
I know I’ve said this a bunch, and in a bunch of videos, but we’ve shown how having more zones is rarely a benefit. In fact, if a TV’s processor can’t handle the workload, more zones can be a liability. I know it’s counterintuitive, more zones must mean more precise control, right? But it just isn’t turning out to be that way in real life. I’m concerned that dimming zone count, like peak brightness numbers, or becoming a marketing tool and we’re feeding into them a bit too much.
@@chibbyylol I hear what you’re saying but i think you’re focusing on zone counts vs actual real world results. In theory, if one tv could perform the same with 6 zones vs another with 486 zones, to me it’s a wash. I’m more worried about the other stuff at that point.
Great review, and in HDR no less! Thank you! This Panasonic seems to tick all the boxes I was looking for, but I was hoping this would do better than the Bravia 7 on reflection handling since I generally like watching TV in a well lit environment. Are there any alternatives for a similar price range?
I remember selling Panasonic plasma TV’s back when I first started at Bestbuy and they toke over the market that was being dominated by the Kuro TV’s. I really wanted one of those Z series plasmas. I’m glad they have made a return back to the states and I hope Bestbuy picks them up. I was wondering how it compares to the Bravia 8 tv far as picture quality? I know the price is off but I was wondering if it’s close. Great review and I love your channel
You seem very enthusiastic about this TV and I bet it looks nice. But I would love to hear from you a comparison to an OLED like the latest C4 or even the G4. I think the pricing is very close so they can be compared right?
On my Toshiba FireTV, there is a setting to not play sound for initial advertisements and to not play them continuously. I used Google to determine best settings.
Hey Caleb. Appreciate all the hard work you do. Another great video!. I was thinking about upgrading my TV this fall and was curious if you knew of anyone that does TV calibration in the Portland metro area. Thank you
Caleb, not sure how much insight you can provide on this question, but my next TV purchase is going to put a lot of emphasis on CEC consistency. At this point I'd sacrifice some picture quality for a CEC that consistently works. I'm tired of having to trouble shoot. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
How would this Panasonic 65 inch hold up against the LG C3 OLED 65 inch? Like would they be equal or does the Panasonic get 85%? Just curious on your expert opinion.
As an Apple TV 4K user, would the Fire TV issues still cause headaches. Do you have to hit that home screen with the audio-on ad before switching over to a source like the ATV? I’ve always loved Panasonic TV’s and would be very interested in this one, except I hate the Fire TV interface.
Always love, Panasonic, I toothbrush, Panasonic. Only owned one Panasonic TV 26 inch LCD TV was around $800 around 20 years ago still work today, and probably has a better speaker than most TVs today
Caleb where I am Panasonic OLED is available. I watched many reviews but never had proper excuse to buy one until my LG 3D OLED died (it was a tragic day). I was amazed by the picture quality right off the bat so I know what you say.. Panasonic has a certain picture signature that is so accurate without much calibration.
Question, can I install a streaming media player like Apple TV on the new Panasonic Mini-LED TV so I don't have to deal with the Amazon platform? Thanks 🙏
Can you access all settings and use all features (excluding network related) of the TV without having an Amazon account AND never connecting it to the internet?
I miss my Kuro and ZT60 but when I had them was paranoid about burn-in, so I babied those displays and later passed on OLED. But I’m excited for mini-led technology and also seeing Panasonic return to the U.S.
Hi Caleb! Would the W95A be a worthy successor to my 2018 Samsung Q9FN thats running on its last breath? Want something that is comparable in both brightness, blooming control and glare reduction
@ Hi Ken, I was very annoyed with Harvey Norman’s NZ as I told them to tell me when the Sony A95L was on sale and you were discontinuing that model as I would have bought it in a heartbeat. They forgot to tell me. Anyway we had amazing discount sales last month on Pana, Samsung and LG and on their flagship models. I offered to buy the Pana if they took another 20% off and they did, lol. The bargain of the century. Play hardball. Back to your question, from what I’ve read, the A95L perhaps a very very tiny edge, being a qd-oled. But the sound of the Pana is out of this word as it has 7 speakers I think. No need for a sound bar. The Pana has very nice natural colour. Funny enough I’ve found the AI picture setting to be the best for me. Keep me posted on what you get. Cheers.
At £1300 in the UK for the 55", the W95A isn't cheap for an mini-LED. Can you do a comparison between the W95A and, say, the LG QNED86 which is £800 at 55"? Bearing in mind the £500 price difference, would this affect your opinion on the W95A regarding whether or not it's a good buy compared to other non Sony mini-LEDs. Given that I bought my 55" C3 for a little over £900, I couldn't countenance paying £1300 for inferior tech.
So im coming from 16 year old tv been trying to upgrade for year’s,but I could never make a decision. So far im more drawn to mini led tvs because u get more for less money. Im thinking to choose between the Panasonic w95a and the lg b4. I got an xbox and watch sports my girl watches movies.

Great review.
My dad is still running a Panasonic plasma from 2010. Quality is second to none.
I love that new light in the background to show off the HDR!
Still have two 65in and one 55in Plasmas, Still going super strong, with amazing pictures. I will not upgrade till each dies... but this is where Im going when they do.
We owned a Panasonic plasma, and it served us very well.
But they have never been known for their LCD televisions.
they were. Many wins in best / most reliable TV.
Just not in USA…
@@haukionkannel Please reference just one LCD television.
@@johnb4905 Their W90 series are beasts
This is such a good review! The visual look in this review is excellent. Oh, and this TV looks really good!!
An excellent reintroduction to the market Panasonic. Welcome back.
Panasonic is one of my fav brands, I had their plasma for over 10 years !!
So glad this video is in hdr
I remember my First Plasma TV it was a Panasonic and the picture was AMAZiNG! Beautiful.
So happy to see Panasonic TV’s back in the US market, pushing an already intense competition even further 💯👌
Its nice to see this video in HDR
I was wondering why this video was extra bright and coloful. Real HDR ..Hell yeah. Love this. 😂
I am still using a panny vt65. I want to upgrade but it just works although its only 1080p. I am itching to upgrade to something new.
Still using 2 Panny plasmas in my house everyday. One from 2006 that gets used the most. Can't wait to get a new Panasonic
The TV OS shouldn't be a deal breaker.
These high end TVs should be paired with an Apple TV if you like iOS or Google TV streamer if you like Android.
I have an LG and rarely even look at it's OS.
Nvidia Shield is far superior to Google TV on Android!
@@kenhbeach apparently it's pretty good at not respecting users privacy.
@@ricepony33It doesn’t eliminate adds completely but there’s a setting to shut off the pop up ads.
Very well made HDR video. Review is great as always!
And will this model make its way to Australia?
And, how does is compare please, to Sony Bravia 9 ?
Cheers, Ben
Help with decision making: Z95A or W95A 65 ? Natural look ,color and brightness
Hey HDR recording looks amazing!!! 😍
Colors look amazing on the Panasonic.
From the UK,We’ve had them for years and they are still the best
their is a setting that you can disable the auto video/sound for preview ads. its recommended to disable it
Wish Pioneer would rise from the dead with their Kuro line. Their competition with Panasonic for best plasma was fierce.
I was thinking of the same! Pioneer's Kuro line was legendary.
I think pioneer was first to the market with them
Pioneer first to the market with the premium plasmas
Still have the 5090 and no issues. For 24fps still amazing
You have to consider the prices now
Wish you talked about the upscaling
Me too. My LG is not good at upscaling and the Sony's I have tried are great. Hisense if pretty good too.
Is it safe to use UPS instead of stabilizer for TVs. As there is frequent power interruption in my area. Pls reply.
I still have my Panasonic TC-55AS680U purchased in 2014. Picture quality is excellent and I think motion is very good as it is 120hz.
Watching this on my 60 in ZT60 Plasma! Thanks for the shout out Caleb. We still here. 😂
Well the 75 u8n is a different panel so skip that one. If it was the other sizes of the u8n then I will go for the hisense
I’m watching this on my ZT60 65” lol. I still get compliments on its picture quality!
Price? W95a. Ratings? B7
Was excited, however the Panasonic options available in the US need larger size options.
85" W95A isn't large enough for you?
@@phlydude no they need 200 inch ones nowadays
Hello great video. I have a question I am looking for a great 4k TV in 85 inches Can you give me some choices within my 1,200 budget ? Thanks and keep up the great videos
I'm thinking about buying this one, its going to come to which TV is a better gaming television for me.
Good review. As far as the Fire OS goes can’t you simply put a Roku or Google stick in it to get around the Fire? That shouldn’t deter anyone.
The picture looks great on both tv’s as I watch it on my new Sony x90l. 😉
I missed a good deal on an X90L the other day. Hopefully I can get a comparable deal at Black Friday time.
My Panasonic VIERA TC-P42X3 42-Inch 720p Plasma from 2011 still getting strong.
How can black level be great with so low dimming zones? Also, it’s been said there’s no auto-dimming with VRR enabled; giving raised blacks.
I have one,The amazon “crap” is great and is EASILY switchable to different channels,Its not an issue.
My ZT60 is still working to this day. My kid has it in his room hooked up to one of his many game consoles.
I wish Panasonic still sold tvs in Australia, I’m still using my 10 year old Panasonic plasma though.
I am seriously considering this TV for my replacement, but still wondering if it will be a good fit for gaming since it will be about 40% used for that. No input button does hurt, but that is a minor "nit-pick" 😉 if the rest is "fire."
I'll see my self out . . .
Great review though! Looking forward to Panasonic being an option/available again.
192 dimming zones does seem low in this price point compared to competition (b7's 480, u8n's 2000, qm8's 2880+ / qm7's 1200+ etc) but maybe the processing makes up for it
was expecting it to be a bit more accurate on the eotf though
Yeah my 65” Samsung has 480 dimming zones.
Zone count isn’t everything my dude
@@richiejrich right but when Sony’s Bravia 7 with equal to better zone handling is giving you more zones at the same price segment…
I have my Sons old panny tv it's nearly 10 years old, and the picture is amazing .
I'm still rocking the 2016 TC-50AS530U LCD 1080p. I was bummed when thet left now I'm glad thery're back.
Still have my ZT60 purchased in 2013. Still perfect. I have two mini-led PC monitors and they are FIRE.
If you plug in Apple Tv will it automatically pop up to Apple or do I have to switch inputs and use the Amazon remote?
How would this Panasonic 65 inch hold up against the LG C3 OLED 65 inch? Like would they be equal or does the Panasonic get 85%? Just curious on your expert opinion.
Nothing topped my Pioneer 436XDE plasma. Used that for 12 years and still miss it. God tier unit. I miss Pioneer.
My dad still rocking Panasonic Vierra tv since 2013!
This day that TV just hook up to google tv box for streaming and watching tv
Excellent HDR! 🎉
Hi Caleb!
Would the W95A be a worthy successor to my 2018 Samsung Q9FN thats running on its last breath? Want something that is comparable in both brightness, blooming control and glare reduction
I did Love my Panny ZT60, hopefully the new Z95a is the one
I own the Z95A, Ken.
Truly outstanding and sound is 2nd to none.
Colour is very natural.
Cheers NZ.
@johnmartin7158 What you reckon on the Z95a v Sony A95L? They look the 2 best Tvs even tho the Sony is last years model
Cheers.
@@johnmartin7158 Will do Mate, thanks for your input.
I think the remote button to the right of the gear button is the input selector.
I was interested in subtitle performance. I hope you include that on all LCD TV's!
Given that I bought my 55" C3 for a little over £900, I couldn't countenance paying £1300 for inferior tech.
great video Caleb, thanks again 👍
So im coming from 16 year old tv been trying to upgrade for year’s,but I could never make a decision. So far im more drawn to mini led tvs because u get more for less money. Im thinking to choose between the Panasonic w95a and the lg b4.
