Hey everyone. Working on confirming dimming zone count (though it doesn’t really matter) and whether VRR is there or not. Will also try TCL iQ app just for grins. Thanks for watching!
I got a 43 inch version of this and I get 400 for it in 2024 maybe 2 weeks ago and I didn't know about this knit thing the main reason I got mine was because I wanted it to be connected to my Amazon account and I thought that I could shop with it too but turns out you can't shop with it and an Amazon person told me you could so I was kind of aggravated about that but the TV I had before I got out of the pawn shop for like 50 bucks and I think it was just a 7:20 p.m. I had a little DVD player built in it wasn't smart at all but I did before that though I had a 1080p Vizio and I don't really think this one looks that much better than the Vizio and this is a OLED
The one thing am pretty confident Amazon's tv will beat Tcl and most other brand is customer service.. They don't make you go through a ton of BS before giving a replacement or repair
Right...They definitely have em beat with customer service. Actually Amazon has the best customer service in the world as you can speak to a person in 5 minutes every time and willing to go the extra mile to help. Never have to cuss out an Amazon rep. Glad they only hire foreigners who aren't pissed you called and need help 😂
You seem much more impressed by all these budget TV's lately. Hisense TCL, Amazon. Have they reached some new performance levels at these lower price points now?
I enjoyed your review as usual, but I have to admit that I tend to steer clear of Amazon stuff. I don’t see this changing my mind. Some of the smart features are clever, though. However, if I were in the market for a TV in this price range right now, TCL or Hisense would probably get my money simply because anything I get would have to be a marked improvement over my MU8000, and this doesn’t look like I’d see much of a difference. As always, thanks for your reviews.
It’s great to add to the Amazon arsenal if you’re already stocked up with an Alexa, Blink or Ring security system, etc. Hard to beat “Alexa, open Breaking Bad on my TV” as you walk in the door and by the time you sit down the TV I’d already turned on, loaded and playing. But yeah if you don’t like or use any of their products no point
I just ordered this tv and I like to watch tv in the dark, but don't want a dim picture. What setting do I need to put it on to have a bright vibrant picture?
I will admit that Alexa can sometimes be extremely frustrating. The Alexa app has become so complex that you have to be a genius to navigate thru its functions to get it to do what you want. You can spend an entire day just dealing with Alexa alone. Not to mention integrating it with another device. I attempted to integrate it with my soundbar 900 when I purchased it and I went back and forth thru the steps for the longest trying to get it to connect and it wouldn't so I finally gave up. Later on that day I was speaking to one of my other Echo devices and the 900 responded. I was like what the...? I don't even try to accomplish something complex with Alexa unless I just want my brain to melt down. I will admit that the last couple of times I attempted to integrate Alexa with other devices it was seamless so I would assume that Amazon has been doing some homework. I love Alexa and can't imagine my life without it. I have so many Alexa and other wi-fi devices till my wifi couldn't support them all and finally gave up the ship. I had to get another gateway and I purchased a eero pro 6 and life is good again. Since I didn't have a single Google device I purchased a Google home hub just for kicks and it basically to me its only function is as a clock. But as far as a Amazon TV goes I will have to take a hard pass on that.
Huh, they definitely told me it supports VRR (at and below 60Hz, obviously). And I think the dimming zone count is supposed to be 96 for the 75 and around 80 on the 65. That peak brightness though... woof. Great review, Caleb.
Thanks, Chris! Seems you squeezed more details from them than I did. 80 to 96 would track with the screen sizes. I just struggled to count, which I think is a generally good sign. As for VRR, I may well have that wrong. More testing it is!
I was thinking that exact same thing. Looking at the 75", don't really need 120hz as I don't game and hardly ever watch sports anymore. Currently have a 60" Samsung 4k from 6 years ago. So I believe this would be an upgrade either way.
*_Well done review, thanks for the help. So, I just purchased the 75 inch on a Black Friday deal. The 0% interest for 24 months pushed me over the edge to go with the Fire TV over the Hisense or other models that supposedly have better features. I think a lot of the features that supposedly make the TCL or the Hisense a better choice really don't matter much to the average viewer. Honestly when I looked at the Hisense and now compare that to my Fire TV I really don't see much difference in the quality of the picture and I get all the Amazon goodness you touted in the video. Next up I'll check out your reviews on sound systems. If you do read these what would you recommend for an entry level surround sound to go with this TV Thanks for your help !!!_*
What's funny is that the XBOX One with Kinect had full voice control, a built in IR blaster so you could control all your devices, an HDMI input with its own custom TV guide interface. So, before Amazon even released their very first Echo, you could say, 'XBOX ON' and it would turn on the XBOX, TV, cable box and my audio receiver, and switch the inputs so they were correct, then you could say 'XBOX WATCH ESPN' and it would switch to the TV app, then using the IR blaster change the channel on your cable box. It all worked seamlessly, and it really worked well as the voice processing was down locally, so there wasn't any real delay. Microsoft had all this working in 2013, and then just completely gave up on it like 2-years later, but who would want a voice controlled smart living room?
You are my new favorite tv reviewer. Thank you for making these videos. I might be in the market this year for a new tv, waiting for the Black Friday/holiday sales. Hoping to score a 55 LG C2 at Costco if they offer the sale price and extended warranty this holiday, if they offer it, but a lot of options to choose from this year in all prices.
Still good info a year later! Today is Amazon Big Prime Day, and I realized I was going to use my Fire Stick with a new not-Fire TV to get more features (gaming especially), without the Amazon bloatware on what is obviously a TCL tv.
My wife bought this TV for me on sale. It's perfect for what we use a TV for. I have a gaming monitor for games and a better quality picture. For the price, on sale anyway, I don't think you can really beat this TV.
I think it's a great move! And yeah why not have TCL make them!! They make good HD T.V. and I am sure in the future Amazon will do their own thing. Thanks for the vid!! Always interesting!!
My biggest issue with the Hisense tv that you mentionned, is that if you don't live in the USA, then it's not exactly clear whether the U7H model exists or not because they either use the same model name but it's not the same tv, or it's just a different model name, or perhaps that specific model doesn't exist at all.
I agree with you, in fact I wanted a Hisense U7 ULED, but Amazon's financing for the Fire Smart TV Onmi QLED Series for two years finally convinced my pocket.
Amazon is now selling this for $599. At that price, is this the best TV available? If not, what would you recommend in the 65" range for similar price?
yeah I agree I just purchased the 75 inch through Amazon with a super Black Friday deal and zero percent interest for 24 months and after looking at the high sense I really don't see much difference between my new TV and that
Side questions, could you do some reviews on things like BU8500. Last year the Q60A and AU9000 performed very similar if not better on AU9000. Would love to see how BU8500 compares to TCL 5 series and U7H.
Yo guys I have the FIRE TV OMNI and I love it already waaaaay more than my Hisense U8G. Idk man it's just like Apple products they just make you feel special. They say the U7H and U8H is a really good upgrade over the U8G but they always say that. My HIsense was a little glitchy and it just didn't do anything cool. This TV is an experience and it's just a fun tv to have honestly...Kids love it, I love it...
Looks like the Hisense U7H vesa mount is 600x300.... My existing mount doesn't list this an option, so little worried about jumping into that unit and having to get a new tv mount. my mount has 600 x 400, and 500 x 400 and then all the like x like combinations etc. My guess it doesn't support a 600x300 pattern.
does either this years omini or last years have a built in zigbee hub? I picked up last years 55" omini but only cause I got it on a lightning deal for $110
Video for another time? Will you be making a SmartTV privacy video? By default all these TVs track everything you do if you accept the EULA during setup. An awareness video would be appreciated. Not sure if there’s capability but on the extreme end running everything through a proxy and capturing network traffic (installing self signed very to view TLS traffic) to show just how much these TVs are listening/watching/tracking you might be a surprise to most viewers.
That’s a clever idea. I suspect it might not, even if it is a TCL. The possibility Hisense is the manufacturer crossed my mind, but I just don’t think so. Too many TCL vibes.
I wonder if the remote comes bundled with the Amazon Fire tv remote that you can purchase by itself without the firestick. The one where you can tell Alexa to find your remote and your remote will start beeping so you can find it.
I've seen a 75 inch of this TV going for 600.00 dollars. If this TV is at least as good as a TCL 5 series or a Hisense U7H it might attract the average consumer that's not looking to spend a lot of money for a TV but get a large size.
Anyone know how to stop the tv from going into sleep mode after a couple minutes of inactivity it’s very annoying since it closes whatever you were doing just by going to the bathroom or something for a couple min
I have a different question. I'm looking to upgrade my 9 year old flat-screen. The issue I have is the wifi connection. And I want to know if there is a difference between wifi5 and wifi6 if my router is wifi6?
@@estusflask982 This increase of streams provides higher connection speed, and your client devices have more paths to communicate with your WiFi router. In fact, WiFi 6 enabled client devices enjoy a 40% increase in speed over their WiFi 5 counterparts.
You mentioned this TVs user interface will include your cable control. How does it do that? Is there a widget you add? Thanks for the great content. Cmon 1 million subs!!
How does it know you are in the room compared to leaving the room or being in the room and sitting still watching TV for a long time. What if it's in a Bedroom how do you keep it from turning back on when you get up heed the call of nature what prevents it from turning back on when you return to the Bedroom?
Great info, I wish it was a day earlier. I just bought a Hisense U8H from Amazon (not delivered yet) but when I did my research on the Omni series, I don't think this one was out yet because it didn't match your description. I think I'll be happy with my decision, but admitedly, the artwork mode looks pretty cool. Also, I do plan on sticking a Fire Stick on it, although I am curious about messing with the Google OS. Caleb mentioned the Fire Cube. Has anyone gone from a Fire Stick 4K to the Cube and as it worth the upgrade?
I have U8H and you don't need a fire stick for it. The Google OS is really good. I also have Roku on the other TCL TV and when comparing the two, Google OS wins big time. It's so snappy that you don't need firestick. They are easily customizable and you can calibrate all kind of settings that you wouldn't normally find on any TV OS. That being said, you won't regret it one bit. The best bang for the buck. Also, be sure to calibrate it when you get it out of the box. Rtings has great calibration settings you can use which is what I use.
I think you made the right choice. I've been tracking both the Hisense U8H and this specific QLED version which I knew was up only for pre-order on Amazon until yesterday. Based on stunning reviews for the U8H across many RUclips channels and the fact that the U8H has 2x peak brightness and maybe 3x more dimming zones than this Amazon QLED, you simply can't go wrong with the U8H. As Caleb said, buying a U7H/U8H and slapping a FireStick on it might be better. Note: I prefer FireStick simply because I already got Ring devices in my house and they get along well with each other. I'm also waiting for the delivery of my U8H and since it's so far off, I just ordered a U7H from Costco and want to see if it's something I can settle for considering the $200 difference from the U8H and better warranty from Costco. Caleb seems to be recommending the U7H over the U8H unless it's a bright room so I really wan't to see before I can decide.
@@anr2923 I have U8H. I also have firestick but I don't use it as I prefer the Google OS over it. U7H is recommended because they are cheaper for the price by $150. Rtings gave U7H rating of 8.0 while Rtings gave U8H 8.6. The brightness is what makes U8H really stand out compared to the competition though.
@@anr2923 Wow, thank you You you just summarized my process exactly. The Costco deal is better than it seems if you get an extended warranty bc it is so much cheaper than Amazon's (Best Buy is really REALLY proud of their Geek Squad plans, so I didn't consider purchasing from there). I was torn between the 75" U7H and the 65" U8H. Both are the same price, if you include the warranties. The main reason I chose Amazon is bc of the current promo (100 days/$100 No Regrets), which is not applicable for Costco purchases. Costco always allows 90 day returns anyway, but I'd have to rent a vehicle big enough to do that.
Lmao 😂I thought you weren’t saying Alexa because you couldn’t say in RUclips but the moment you said, “sorry, you just have to mute your speaker…” I understood the message 😅🤣
Heaven forbid that to happen. I could only see that as a disaster happening. Amazon is slowly trying to broaden their market appeal and things will be trial and error and we the consumer will suffer because of their errors. I love Amazon but my opinion is that they should stick with what they do best but we all know that is not going to happen.
They are sold out now but these just went on sale for black friday for like $500! from this review that seems like a steal. I may or may not be getting one for christmas lol
my tcl tv wifi just stopped working completely, thankfully i have been using a fire stick mostly on it anyway but that doesn't really bode well for its lifespan beyond this point. i like fire os though and amazon has a payment plan for prime members so im thinking of getting one of these.
More interested in the TV than the OS. I would much rather have a display only without the "smart" bits that slow it down and which are outdated in a couple of years. I use external devices for streaming anyway, those are cheap enough and can be upgraded anytime.
For the average layman sitting at home, watching satellite television and Netflix.. how much of a difference would they notice in a TV like this and say the LG C2?
Quite a few review videos, such as this one, says that the menus are very fast, but if you read this TV reviews on Amazon, more than half of them say the menus are very slow and lagging... hmm...
Hey can you guys do a review on the Samsung odyssey G70A 4k hid hdr Gaming monitor please! No one has done a in depth review on it and I trust you guys more than anyone else.
Apple Glass coming next ?!? Would need to be OLED .... As these are ok quality TV's with the streamer built in, for me better to buy the TV with the quality you want with external streamer but this is a reasonably priced all in offering. What I would have liked to see is how it handles regular Freeview and the TV guide feature as I dont think any of that works with Sky Glass withouth a subscription ... might be wrong.
Amazon Fire TV 55 34; Omni QLED Series 4K UHD smart TV, Dolby Vision ...anyone have this TV and/or know how to get Netflix, Amazon Video, etc. playing in full screen? We have varying degrees of wide screen format. Thanks.
Nice professional review - Quick question Caleb - Which is THE BEST large screen TV for 2022 & Which is the Best TV EVER according to you ? Really Getting confused on 2 - 2022 TVs - 83 OLED vs Samsung 85 inch 8K 900B Good Luck & God Bless you !
I actually like the TV for the most part, but the fire experience in the top of the line, is not as feature packed as their latest version of firestick. come on man. I can get ultra hd audio on the 4K max, not on the flagship tv.
Last years Omni models launched at similar prices but quickly fell. I honestly wouldn’t be very interested in one unless you could get a 75 inch model for like $649. There just are better cheap TVs out there including the onn qled. Yeah that’s right the Wally World tv. My brother in law bought one and after playing with it I was very surprised at how decent it was. Specs are pretty similar to this tv with the onn being just a tad brighter around 605 nits and having only 60 dimming zones. But all in all I’d wager it will offer better pq than this tv. I’d love to see digital trends check it out because it’s a cheap tv that has some decent features at a good price. Lots of people would be very happy with it.
I would be interested in the onn but I visited a home & decided to watch the tv display its sleep mode slide shows & one picture bled through the black screen as it transitioned to the next slideshow.. could have been whatever model it was but didnt like that..

Cmon 1 million subs!!
it doesn't do that
Great, I was waiting for your review lol.
How does it know you are in the room compared to leaving the room or being in the room and sitting still watching TV for a long time. What if it's in a Bedroom how do you keep it from turning back on when you get up heed the call of nature what prevents it from turning back on when you return to the Bedroom?
Accepted delivery today! Let's see how this goes..........
Can you recommend a video for non nerd seniors.
@@anr2923
I have U8H.
@@Michael45007 Thank you, that's quite helpful to know.
Lmao 😂I thought you weren’t saying Alexa because you couldn’t say in RUclips but the moment you said, “sorry, you just have to mute your speaker…” I understood the message 😅🤣
Any good rumors about Amazon coming out with their own sound bar?
Heaven forbid that to happen. I could only see that as a disaster happening. Amazon is slowly trying to broaden their market appeal and things will be trial and error and we the consumer will suffer because of their errors. I love Amazon but my opinion is that they should stick with what they do best but we all know that is not going to happen.
Their echo studio speakers with sub goes hard!!!!
is this the same tech as mini LED display technology? tia
no
Is it good for ps5?
They are sold out now but these just went on sale for black friday for like $500! from this review that seems like a steal. I may or may not be getting one for christmas lol
my tcl tv wifi just stopped working completely, thankfully i have been using a fire stick mostly on it anyway but that doesn't really bode well for its lifespan beyond this point. i like fire os though and amazon has a payment plan for prime members so im thinking of getting one of these.
More interested in the TV than the OS. I would much rather have a display only without the "smart" bits that slow it down and which are outdated in a couple of years. I use external devices for streaming anyway, those are cheap enough and can be upgraded anytime.
get off my lawn
Right now on Amazon the 65 inch and 55 inch are the same price at 599 USD
For the average layman sitting at home, watching satellite television and Netflix.. how much of a difference would they notice in a TV like this and say the LG C2?
I have a Samsung Q70 55" QLED TV with a FireTV cube (just upgraded from 2nd to 3rd Gen).
That was my way of getting a QLED FireTV.
TCL has a 65 in with Alexa built in for $399.
how do we get ears/mics in every home.....A TV! Did anyone ever checked which data is send back to Amazon?
But specs shows hdmi 2.1 in Amazon website…
Quite a few review videos, such as this one, says that the menus are very fast, but if you read this TV reviews on Amazon, more than half of them say the menus are very slow and lagging... hmm...
Internet plays a part in sure this guy has great internet
OD Zero?
What happens when you use this TV with RUclips TV?
Review Onn 65 inch qled with local dimming and dolby atmos
Is there a brightness difference between the C2 and G2 at 55inches ?
$800 is okay but Samsung QLED Q60B is around $1000 would love to see if the extra cost for a Samsung is better value/performance
Q60B vs U8H vs TCL R655 would be interesting for sure.
@@Caleb_Denison Being UK is less interesting, seeing TCL and Hisence hereis so cool. love seeing it here
They do have the studios paired with the Amazon sub like the HomePods
Hey can you guys do a review on the Samsung odyssey G70A 4k hid hdr Gaming monitor please! No one has done a in depth review on it and I trust you guys more than anyone else.
What about using recast? What about using echos for the sound from the TV?
I'm after a budget tv so don't expect the latest and greatest features ... so what I took from this video is to get a tcl 5 series
Don’t let the tv fall Mr. Dennison 😂.
I wish Amazon would just make a higher end tv with fire tv built in. Something equivalent to tcl 6 series. That would be so sweet.
It's coming! Give them time. I am cool with this one and will upgrade when they launch their 1,500 premier within the next two years!!
@@OvertIntelligenceHi. Do you have any information about the Amazon premier that you mentioned?
I'd still pay an extra 200$ for the U8H, assuming you can find one.
500 qualifies as HDR??
That opening riff is imitating "Mirror" by Lil Wayne!
Price has recently dropped by $200. Based on new price would you recommend?
I had the 50 inch tv...very sharp picture. Loved it
Amazon Fire TV 55
34; Omni QLED Series 4K UHD smart TV, Dolby Vision
...anyone have this TV and/or know how to get Netflix, Amazon Video, etc. playing in full screen?
We have varying degrees of wide screen format.
Thanks.
Think I would buy the Hisense U7H
I imagine TCL is making them, but the peak brightness is just disappointing for the price point.
we need to make "VA" voice assistant the way we talk about alexa or siri. we should say Amazon's VA or apples VA
Omni QLED, hmmm?
Given what you said about the 5 Series' sound, does the Omni QLED actually sounds better than the 5 Series?
Since we're on the topic of amazon. You remind me of Homelander 😆
I wants ro see a review on the 75inch qled amazon fire tv
Waited so long for this TV only to be disappointed at the lack of gaming features. 😅
Does the HDMI 2.1 actually work at 1440p 120hz?
Nice professional review - Quick question Caleb - Which is THE BEST large screen TV for 2022 & Which is the Best TV EVER according to you ?
Really Getting confused on 2 - 2022 TVs - 83 OLED vs Samsung 85 inch 8K 900B
Good Luck & God Bless you !
toshiba has been making fire tvs for years
In before folks are all "OMG 10/100 ETHERNET DEADDDDDDDD."
Saving a few bucks on Ethernet does nothing
Thanks
I would be interested in the onn but I visited a home & decided to watch the tv display its sleep mode slide shows & one picture bled through the black screen as it transitioned to the next slideshow.. could have been whatever model it was but didnt like that..
this are like 1000cad for 75inch. pretty crazy if you just want something big. other sizes make no sense.
That's the old omni one.. the qled omni is $1499 cad
