Dan was a great dad and husband (and a lot closer to reality than other TV dads) It was soo ridiculous when they wrote it in the show that he left his family for a nurse! Still ticks me off 😂
If not for the comic relief of this episode, it would have been way too heavy and dark. It was very well done, and one of the many reasons this show is such a classic.
The show has so many great lines. This is one of best & one you always remember. Did Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) improve that line? It sounds more insulting then usual jokes. Ironically Roseanne lost a lot of weight compared to show's 1st couple seasons. Roseanne & John Goodman too, who knows how much was improved during the 8 or 9 seasons? Laurie did win most emmys playing Jackie, I think 5 straight years, if I remember correctly?
"What if a woman beats up somebody you love?" My favourite episode (s) of the series. Took the serious and sadly still relevant issue of domestic violence and somehow managed to make it both poignant funny. A brilliant series. Television peaked during this time.
I remember these two episodes. They handled it so well, especially Jackie’s conflicted feelings toward the end. That rang especially true for victims who are struggling to leave.
My tv dads were uncle Phil, Dan, Carl, Danny/Joey/Uncle Jesse, Bill Cosby. I was very much in the same situation as Jackie at one point but now I have made it to the point of having someone worth fighting for. I am still suffering 10 years later from what my ex husband did to me and is still doing to me.
The sad part is that everyone cheers what Dan did,..but in reality he would be facing criminal charges. In some jurisdictions it doesn't matter if the guy he beat up wants to press charges, the police will automatically press charges. And depending on Dan's (or whoever's) line of employment, it could cause repercussions the rest of his life! My point being that if society thinks that Dan's actions are honorable, then society should work to change the laws so that Dan (or whomever) doesn't face lifelong penalties for "doing the right thing"!
@@AL-mi7eg lol I'm a millennial and agree with beat the scum. You realize millennial gen ended in 1996 most of them grew up on this. It's the next gen u wanna target now sir.
That's a good question for a kid that doesn't understand. Why is it not okay to hit a woman, but it's okay to hit a man? On the surface, it doesn't make that much sense that they are exclusive. So what if DJ had a girlfriend that was beating up on him, then Darlene beat the crap outta her? So it's okay for a woman to hit a woman, but a man can't hit a woman, but he can hit a man that was hitting a woman. Makes lots of sense.
Ok well I was like Jacky but the thing is that when he aka my ex would lock me in a 15 foot trailer and leave a window open and his mom would only bring me 3 square meals a day then he would come back and rap me then beat me and then he would leave again locking me inside that damn trailer one day I broke out of that p.o.ses trailer and hitchhicked to my brother's house well my brother's o.p was their the same p.o. my ex had I said well do you want to know the latest the p.o. said hell yeah I lefted my shirt pulled down my pants and turned around my brother everettee Charles crownover said and I love him for this you better find him before I do he was in prison last I know but I saw he about 2 weeks ago in the same truck he had when him and I was together back in 02
DJ was slaying Dan with the questions!! 😂
My father left me when I was seven and my sisters were five and nine. Dan was my TV dad when I was growing up. I loved him.

Reasons why I love this episode it shows other victims we're not alone and it's ok to speak up
True
Right and how everyone comes together to protect her
I like how Dan doesnt blame anyone at first. "I lost my temper and I hit someone." He only keeps telling the truth when DJ keeps asking.
Such an awesome show, oh my God, without Roseanne the Connors are doomed.
Who cares about Conners??

I love the line about being a happily married couple that each weigh 500 pounds!!!! LOL!!!!
Have another shot of pancake, Roseanne!
Jackie's ungrateful to her sister. Rosey was right
I am the same I still think I deserve to be treated like crap that's all I know.
Keep your head up. You're worth it and eventually someone that appreciates you will come along.
No jackie is abused. Abuse does crazy things! No one deserves to be treated like this ever...

Omg. Are you a millenial?
Wahh wahh.
This is the prob with society
That would be why it got dismissed. Obviously the judge felt like it wasn’t a punishable offense. From an actual millennial.
