Garmin s62 is the best golf watch

  • @rooboy69

Watches are far too expensive. I use a free GPS app on my phone. Way bigger screen and can pinch zoom. Ideally GPS apps and watches replace yardage books not range finders. I would use GPS for hazards and hole layout, especially green dimensions. Then use the range finder to zap a pin, that way I have the same info a PGA tour player has "pins 4 yards on so let's play 5 yards longer" . The amount of times I have seen myself or YT golfers say "wow if I knew the pin was this far back I would have...." . Golf's already hard enough as it is without getting basic measurements wrong lol

The feeling of hitting a green in regulation without using any technology except a club in hand feels legit inside where when to me if I use a yardage watch and miss the green, it is more frustrating than having the excuse of eying it up.

It looks a lot easier to see than the V1 golf app, plus you don't have to carry your phone with you while you're swinging. Nice graphics plus the advantage of the swing tempo features too!

Mygolfspy did an intriguing test on the effects of wearing a watch (and randomly multiple watches????) in regards to distance. It was well worth a read. I hate wearing watches while playing, but have adjusted to it, since I probably gain more shots by having the gps than I lose by the discomfort.

I have the same watch. Works great. When on the green, walk to the pin, tap the pin icon, then walk to the ball, then tap the ball icon each stroke so it records the putts. I like it doesn't record your warm up swings, just when the ball it hit. How do they do that? Amazing.

Obviously the yardages right on your wrist are helpful, but being able to see the slope of the greens is equally as valuable when at new courses.

Looks like a great golf watch. I have several friends using the watches. I am still using a phone app so I have to carry my phone in my back pocket. That is a pain. Laser range finders are okay however if you can't take carts onto the fairway then you ate hauling it with 2 or 3 clubs to your ball. A watch is so much more convenient. Thanks for the giveaway. I already follow you on Instagram so I will go checkout the post and share a comment.

They are also great at developing an understanding of how far you hit your wedges
I am working on hitting 50m shots 40 m shots 60m shots etc
When on the course and I go to play one of these I can't go up to the green as it shows the distance of your last shot and see how far my 40m shot flew exactly and how close I was to getting it right

I use this watch and love it, it actually will track your strokes and putts and then what Matt was doing was "Correcting" his score if the watch miss read his swings but more often than not its accurate. The app as well is great on your phone because it will store your data per round and give you your averages on puts, stokes, your drive distance average, avg GIR, and of course your swing tempos and your "Handicap". You can also play a round and then go to the app and review your plays per hole and it will give you the same hole view that you get on your watch and where you shot to show you how you did. You can can also send off your score cards to friends/social media as well on how you played if you feel like it. I have had the watch for about 6 months and it has every round of golf I have played with it along with all my play by play info for me to review and share if I wanted too. I am a fan of it and I am happy to see that Matt approves! I am not a big watch person myself but have gotten use to having this after a few rounds. It as well to me seems to be very accurate as far as distance to when I play with people and they shoot the flag with a range finder, I am always within a couple yards and usually by the 5th hole they stop shooting the flag and just ask me what my watch says haha!!

      @dustinlarsen6368 Год назад

@@CybekCusal yes it will track each shot you hit and then how far that hit was when you get to your next spot but it does not ask what club you used and keep that info. It will not give you a recommendation of what club to use (I have my own cheat sheet i use where it tells me my distances per club)

Bought this watch mainly for tempo and shot tracking features…and it doesn’t even work for left handed golfers.
It works great when swinging right handed, it’s comfortable and light…
But BEWARE of the customer service…I have emailed 3 different people with voice caddie and no one has responded, not to mention both of the customer service phone numbers they have go straight to voicemail. All and all I would rather go with a company that takes care of their customers. I wouldn’t recommend any voice caddie products to anyone due to customer service.

For me, golf apps on a watch are this weird middle ground where it does things a rangefinder or phone does, just worse.
Phone can give me more detail, ability to check different points quickly and easily. Much easier to navigate than a 1.5" diameter watch face. But can't attach it to my wrist.
Rangefinder gives me instant, exact yardages to whatever I shoot with it. Not front/mid/back.
I've always thought the idea was cool but as soon as I get to the course and go between my phone and rangefinder, I feel like a watch is just going to either be a hassle or end up not giving enough data.
But if you love watches, wearing one and don't need exact numbers, might be perfect.

My Garmin watch keeps track of all my rounds
I can see exactly where I went on the course and can enter the clubs I hit in
It has a pile of stats that I can review on the app to see the issues with my game
I can travel anywhere in the world and it has 99.9% of courses available

Hey Matt, good review and I'm checking out the VC T9 as well. So far it seems pretty good although there is a learning curve. In comparison to the S62 (also reviewing), it seems to be easier to read in sunlight and the tempo and green views are better. I like both so it's a tough choice, however leaning towards the T9 (keeps score auto as well). Also, too funny I play @ Atlanta National primarily and White Columns is another option so may see you on the course. 👍

Don’t know how realistic this is - but it would be cool if you could set or save pin positions. So before you start the round it may ask “what is todays pin position” you select it and then over time it learns the “general areas and sections” for each pin position. As you set them appropriately each round.
Then, over the long term, it takes SOME of the guess work out when you’re in the fairway 175 yards out.
Again - don’t know how realistic that is as every course does pins a little differently. Some do odds and evens in a different position… some do front 9 and back 9 pins a little different.

I do like the tempo feature, but the rest of it is overkill for me. I just like the basics. Picked up a TecTecTec for $100 which shows the distance to the hazards and front, middle and back of the green - quick and easy. Still use the old school score card on the course and enter it into The Grint later to get my HCP. Oh and actually you did not have two putts on that first hole...only one. Unless you are on the green, it does not count as a putt. Just went through this the other day. Having the putter in your hand is not a factor. Also the fringe is not part of the green either. So not GIR sir.

      Disagree
      The watches are great
You walk up to the ball glance down at it and you know what to hit
The laser I find useless on flags at distances of over 100m or on uphill shots

Don't think these devices should be made available to golfers... I spent hours in the driving range learning how far I could hit each club and there's enough markers on a golf course for yardage to the centre of the green

    • @jackkinoff6943
      @jackkinoff6943 Год назад +3

It actually makes for a quicker game
As I walk up to the ball I am looking at it and it is telling me the distance
I more or less know what club I need
Less stuffing around looking at the 150 yard post and working back to get your exact yardage as you are a bit short of it
The watches are faster than guys pulling out lasers as well
