Just wondering since Im looking to start doing more video interview jobs and charging rates that would make junior lawyers blush if it really is the best thing to get for reliability and sound quality? I'd rather buy once cry once in this scenario since having a malfunction on the job would certainly end up being somewhat catastrophic for that job. Has anyone else used other products for comparison?
@@Manatee360Phototography I’ve used mine hundreds of times. Never a single problem. Super reliable. I did forget to hit the record button a few times so I lost my backup track but DJI just released a firmware update that allows you to make it so each transmitter starts recording automatically the moment you take it out of the case. DJI is committed to firmware updates and I trust them. Definitely buy!
I bought this brand new when it first came out and love it! I still have my Zoom H4N but it doesn't get much use anymore. The big thing for me especially for what I shoot is that I had to be able operate it wirelessly without being near the subject at all and this solved that and provides an EXTRAORDINARY sound quality thats great! This is a no brainer purchase for anyone who does anything audio related.
I actually recorded an overdub independently couple of days ago: stuck one of TXs on a selfie stick with a screw-on cold shoe mount in the soundproofed part of a green screen cyclorama studio, he read the lines couple of times until I liked it (I pressed start/stop on the RX) then I just plugged the TX directly into my Android phone with a Type-C/Type-C dual cable, grabbed two last files off it and sent over WhatsApp to the editing folks. Could record simultaneously into the phone as well but didn't want to take the RX off the camera (and actually didn't think of recording into the phone using a proper wave editor app, my mind at the moment was set that the TX is a standalone recorder).
I got mine 8 months ago and has been one of my favorite pieces. I used it a lot on real estate, interview and personal content. Never got signal problems, audio files are really good and all packed like AirPods. If they break, definitely gonna buy again the same or next model.
I bought a Rode Wireless Go and then the II version. The II version failed after a few months so I got it replaced and then sold it. Now I'm back on the original Wireless Go. I have to say I am jealous of this DJI system, it looks like a big upgrade :)
One way I use the DJI mic a lot is for bands. I plug the transmitter with the 1/8 inch cable to the Headphone jack from the band's board and voila! Clean sound.
Just got these at Christmas and have to say after using it for the first time on our podcast recording 3 of us at the same time it is top quality..I attached 1 mic to one of us and I put the other one in between 2 of us then adjusted the gain until we all sounded the same level and it out performed our blue yeti that we use by a mile..so impressive
Looks like a great system. The only thing I think they could really improve with the next version would be to have 32 bit float on the internal recording on the transmitters as a back up, that way there should never be any issues with back up recordings.
I am in the same boat, I see many more people pushing the Rode Wireless setup, but I did my research and preferred this one, and have not had any reason to regret it. Well one case, the Insta360 X2 has an adapter for the Rode that does not work with this out of the box, but same as you yet again I normally just record locally and not use the transmitter so that has never been an issue for me.
I use mine mostly as backup audio capture but always keep it in my kit for those unexpected video shoots where I don't have easy access to the talent to wire them up (conferences), or impromptu interviews where none were requested. Because they deploy so quickly and have internal recording, I can be ready in mere seconds over my standard Sony wireless that requires fresh batteries, frequency scan and matching. My biggest complaint is with the cold-shoe mount, which I wish would be improved. It's fine for straight on cold shoe, but can't easily be placed anywhere on a rigged up camera without some modifications or workarounds. Even a 1/4-20 thread on the bottom would be ideal, so that I could use a mini ball head mount or similar as an alternative. As a "version 1.0" product though, I have to give DJI credit for their fantastic all-in-a-case solution and intuitive interface. My suggestion is to pair these with the Shure MVL microphone for even better sound, and a more discrete appearance if you're attaching it to talent's outerwear.
First time I used it it did not record to the camera itself, but thank god I had the backup on the dji itself - except for it was entirely scrambled. I was the one appeared to be the pro - and came up with no audio at all...
I clipped one of these right onto a mic stand using the magnet clip beside the wired mic. I also have metal clamps I use to put these mic's almost anywhere like a podium. They work well for event filming and livestreaming.
Listen, the whole idea (for me) of this system is to have a fully wireless + transmitter for my very high quality lav mics. The fact i can use each of the transmitters as a mic is a bonus. I get that people but these just as mics, but that is secondary for me but also a huge bonus. I recommend the Shure MVL lav mics to go with them, but do your own research!

On my iPhone 13 Max Pro because this is what I used to do my videos on my RUclips channel. And this. DJI Mic 1. I don't have the case, I just got a single Tx and Rx kit. But I don't need more. I found a nifty case on the jungle site with tear out foam squares that fits my DJI mic, my DJI pocket 1, and a smatree external battery and tripod with 2 adapters, with a zip pouch for cables and the dead cat. It's been great! For anyone looking for something that gets the job done as good today as it did 2 years ago, the first gens are fine.

Bought just some random hardcase for my DJI Mic, and it's pretty much solved a problem. It has dedicated zip pocket for cables and deadcats, and it protects the main charging unit from scratches and other things. It was like....5$. 100% worth it.
I’ve only just invested in this product after stepping on my lav mic when setting up…lol 3 hour event, and all I got was sshhhhhhhhh…glad I recorded on other devices.
About transmit distance - Seems like there are 2 versions: One forUS (FCC) with higher power output (250m distance) and one for EU market (CE) with lower transmit power output (160m distance)
"I guess I'm going for a walk." That's when I had to hit the Like button. Loved the review! Just got the DJI for myself and just learning how to use it. Thanks for the review. Recording a comedy show is really a trial by fire for any system. Very creative way to use your DJI.
When i realized the case has no space for the deadcats and the cable i was very disappointed. How was this such a oversight? Just make the top 2cm taller and its fixed. But i also noticed some major flaws on DJI gimbals so this seems to be normal :/
It's not an oversight. We did have mockups during the development process that included all the items such as the deadcats and the audio cable, but those prototype cases were roughly 30% larger than the final product. The idea behind the product design was to make the case as small as we possibly could and from the results it seems many comments from users are positively surprised by the overall size. The case itself along with other optional items can go in the carrying pouch which includes a divider offering protection from being scuffed during transport.
Shame it was only half way through for a proper audio test - to me that was night and day with the (presumably) shotgun the rest of the interview was filmed with. Way more hollow, and with a noticable noise floor. BUT: for only £300 I'll definitely get a set for backup when I need to hide a mic somewhere awkward. That magnet mount and local backup recording are great features
Thank you for this review! Very informative. I got a good laugh in today watching this when you tested the distance.Hilarious..Yes, I agree what anyone would be doing that far away from the the receiver but who knows, that feature could definitely come in handy for something lol😄
If you clip it under your t-shirt, isn't there any rustling noise when you move? Also. When you want to record yourself without any receiving end you can plug the receiver into (let's say a drone), can that be done too? Edit: You answered the question in the video. :D
Does the receiver have any storage in it, or does it HAVE to be connected to something that stores the audio? Maybe I missed something. You did an excellent job of presenting. Very helpful. Thank you.
It is very useful but don't know how is the batteries degraded over years and trash away. My Sennheiser G3 using over 10 years still working with 2 AA batteries but it is more troublesome to use compare to dji
Hi, could you help please. my receiver connected to my iPhone fell in the lake. I still have the 2 Mics. Is it possible to buy only a replacement receiver TX or any other options. feeling a bit lost :(
I have been using mine for a while, started out great but not getting some noise, like breaking up up. I have contacted their service dept. and probably need to send it back. :-( I wish it worked right
For longer recordings, say 30 or 60 minutes or more, are the internal mic recordings segmented, or broken up, and then need to be reassembled in post? Or does it record to a single file for the duration?
Thanks a lot for this video demonstration. Although expensive for my standards, I still chose it because of the ease of use, ease of automatic pairing.
great review Matt....I agree with your point about a case that carries everything in it (dead cats, etc.)....I would also love that updated one to be 32 bit float...
Hey is this Mic good if I want to be IRL Streaming outside with my Phone and want the microphone to pick up some surounding noise like friends talking next to me or a conversation with strangers ? Also is there a way for me to charge my phone at the same time as using the microphone ?
Great video thanks. Some practical use questions. 1. Can I just take one TX unit out walking around and record to it without even needing to take the other TX unit and the RX unit out for the day? 2. Can I record directly to each TX seperately - sequentially - so about 24-28hrs total recording time without needing to download audio off the TX units? Thank you..!
How long does it take, to charge the batteries of the mics, when you put them back into the case? Can the 2 Mics be charged at the same time in the Chargingcase? Or does it have to charge one Mic first and if its fully charged, it starts charging the second Mic?
Legend, this microphone was absolutely outstanding, including the drones. We have been using it at the studio, and on location on a regular basis, especially being a lifesaver at locations away from the office, I don’t think touchwood we’ve had a single problem with it, yet, reliable, tiny, sounds pretty decent, kind of ridiculous for the price point to be fair And excellent coverage,
I wonder if you could help me with something.... I am going to be running a game show on my channel where I have a host and two teams of 2 people, so 5 people in total on stage. I was planning on use the dji mic on each person so there'd be 5 recordings. I am currently using tshure mvl lav mics with the dji mics I have. Of course I'm going to play around with different settings but based on that info what would you say would be the best settings in regards to mono/stereo or do you think it would be better to just hit record on all transmitters and have them all set to mono? I have a feeling I'm going to run into a lot of problems so any advice from you or anyone reading this would be very helpful.
"Reliability" Yeah, I've been through 3 of them now. Each one had a different problem that required a return within the first month of operation. If/When they ever release a second version I'll take a look at it again because I still like all of the functionality that other brands still don't have. For now however, in my experience their quality control is absolute garbage and I won't be putting myself through troubleshooting this particular product again.
@@MagnitudeReviews both of them just stopped working, they don't even show up when I connect them to the Mac. I tried for days to reach out to @DJI and nothing; I would never buy anything from them again.
I loved this mic to start with, until l needed to get the copy off the mic… the file skips and doesn’t record parts of conversations.. l’m now also having issues with one of the mics spiking… very frustrating…. Firmware didn’t resolve it…
this is an issue with the mics. it glitches randomly when recording internally. it does not happen often but makes things a nightmare when it does happen
@@MagnitudeReviews that's not what I mean. If you look on more professional systems from Sennheiser or Sony, you will find that all connectors utilize a screw-locking system, so the connected cable won't accidentally get disconnected.

07:04 better some antelope friends than a pack of wolves heading your way. Video could have ended a bit differently LOL. Will this mic work for GoPro and android phones as well? Thanks.
With Android phones/tablets that use Type-C it works stellar, tried and tested. Should probably do with older ones that use micro-USB over a C-to-micro adapter, but the whole setup will be very much prone to failure. With GoPro, no. You need a Media Mod (which is a thing prone to electronic failures) unless you still use an old GoPro that needs just a simple 3.5 to mini-USB adapter. It's a GoPro own limitation, they don't want compatibility with some random USB audio devices. DJI has its own action camera lineup, and the most recent as of early 2023, the OSMO Action 3, while being an excellent rival for GoPro 10 and 11 in terms of picture quality and stabilization (and utterly beats GoPro and Insta360 One R/RS when it comes to freezing, overheating, and battery life), has obvious native compatibility with DJI Mic over Type-C. I'm not paid or otherwise supported by DJI (even though I wish to... ;) ).
@@IgnatSolovey Thanks! I actually purchased the DJI Mic system last week as well as an Action 3 camera. I uploaded a review video to my channel. Feel free to check my review out if don't mind, you were one of the creators that helped make my mind up to buy them. The mic worked really well in the wind I will not need near as much time editing noise. 👍
If the mic records the sound, how hard it it to secronize the sound to the video? I don't like the price, however do like the ease of use. Where did you get the dead cat muff?
Synchronizing the sound to the video using this mic is the exact same as any other mic and audio recording. It depends on what software you are using. For example if you are using Premiere Pro you just import your video and your audio track, select them both on the timeline and hit the synchronize button. If, for example, you are using LumaFusion then you have to do it manually by lining up the sound waves as there is no auto synchronization feature. Again, it all depends on what video editing software you are using and has nothing to do with the DJI Mic. For the dead cat (in this case kitten) muff it comes with the DJI mics.
DJI does many half assed products which are good but just not excellent the DJI Mic is as close as DJI has ever come to perfect as you said only downside is that not everything fits in the case. I sold my two Rode wireless set ups and bought a second single Dji Mic. Pity it does not come in a case so rather get a double.
Not everything fits in the charging case, but it does all fit in the small bag that comes with it. It's not very large at all and has a divider inside even.
I LOVE my DJI Mic kit. The whole experience of using it is an absolute joy. I was trying to decide at first between it and the Rode Wireless Go, and all of the comparison videos that I watched really understated how much better the DJI is. I'll be doing some jobs with a specific company where I have to use the Rode, and it's awful by comparison in some big ways.
Hi, can you please explain on the faults of both the DJI and Rode system? I was looking into both, also do any of them record externally? I have an A6000 so it doesn't have a mic input.
@@svxw For sure, both of them record externally which is very cool. The difference is that the Rode requires this whole workflow: you connect the receiver to the computer, then import the clips using their software - which involves transcoding the clips (they record to the device as raw data, not an audio file). This just adds more time and complexity. The DJI Mic though just connects to the computer and there are the files. ADDITIONALLY, which is a huge advantage, the DJI records to the transmitters themselves (the Rode acts like traditional wireless mics where the transmitters simply send the audio data to the receiver). This means that if the connection gets lost for some reason, you still have a backup on the transmitter.
Been using the DJI mic for a dome ENG work with interviews. NOTHING TOUCHES THIS PRODUCT. INCREDIBLE

We have been using it at the studio, and on location on a regular basis, especially being a lifesaver at locations away from the office, I don’t think touchwood we’ve had a single problem with it, yet, reliable, tiny, sounds pretty decent, kind of ridiculous for the price point to be fair
And excellent coverage,
Is it needed to buy another clip mic for this model? For better sound isolation?
Your picture looks very sharp @720p. Good job bro... & great product review
Appreciate this review. Thanks!
Can you use 3 different mics at the same time?
Do you know a headset lavalier i can use with it? Love the mic, but would like the headset
Phenomenal review!!!
Can I lock the DJI mic from accidentally turning off? If we enable recording, can it be blocked so as not to accidentally disable recording?
Great Review. Where did you buy the dead-cat wind muff? I worried that a generic one might not fit the mic well.
Thanks! The dead cat comes with the kit in the box. Works great
I wonder if you could help me with something....
This is a great review. Thanks a lot 👍
"Reliability"
Yeah, I've been through 3 of them now.
Great, so it wasn’t just me I owned two of them and they cost us a entire production since we use them as fail safe 😡
Would you mind sharing what problems you ran into with the product?
@@MagnitudeReviews both of them just stopped working, they don't even show up when I connect them to the Mac. I tried for days to reach out to @DJI and nothing; I would never buy anything from them again.
How so? I see two complaints here with no clarity on what the problem was.
@@Eyeofkamau I just said why no? They just stopped working the Mac wouldn't even connect to them. Reached out to DJI for days; it's total trash.
Thanks, this really helped!
can this be used when speaking in front of live audience as a wireless mic?
It’s the best in the market for its price.Well designed!!
Dji wireless mic vs rode shotgun go2 mic for audio quality sound ?
yeah... I'm gonna hop on this train!
I'm definitely getting the DJI version instead of the competition . this review made up my mind .
Really useful. 'Clean' presentation
What about the rode wireless go 2 ? I bought that just before hearing about this product
My only concern is that there is no locking system for external mics. That's literally the only reason why I haven't bought a set yet.
There is a record lock system that exists. You just need to enable it in the menu found on the reciever's tiny touch screen.
@@MagnitudeReviews that's not what I mean. If you look on more professional systems from Sennheiser or Sony, you will find that all connectors utilize a screw-locking system, so the connected cable won't accidentally get disconnected.
@@SamoScopom rubber band stretched from the jack into body of transmitter would work :D but yeah, twisting would be nice to see in v2. I wonder if it will come out as soon as i buy this mic)
yeah, my concern as well. no locking system. my sony's wireless have locking system on both the transmitter and the receiver.
@@bernarddiscipulo2695 Rode Wireless Pro has fixed this.
It’s still worth it , nothing has come close of being better imo
Would this mic work for a canon t5i?
Recomenda para Streamer e gamers ?
DJI does many half assed products which are good but just not excellent the DJI Mic is as close as DJI has ever come to perfect as you said only downside is that not everything fits in the case. I sold my two Rode wireless set ups and bought a second single Dji Mic. Pity it does not come in a case so rather get a double.
Not everything fits in the charging case, but it does all fit in the small bag that comes with it. It's not very large at all and has a divider inside even.
Can this work on the iPhone 14?
what are the best Lavalier Mics for the DJI Mic?
Does it work on fb live?
Amazing review. Thanks!
