Excellent, comprehensive guide for this mic setup. But, I have a question. I noticed you're using a Sony 7 series camera and have the receiver set to +1. What audio level did you set the Sony camera? Thank you!
Thank You! I received my DJI MIC yesterday and found your channel this morning. I had no idea the amount of features this system includes, buying the mics was more to separate from the camera while recording is my main intention but you have alerted me many other possibilities!

Mono one mic - records dual mono track (1 person talking) No post audio editing needed) Mono two mics - mixes both mono tracks into a single stereo track (two people talking at the same time) No post audio editing needed. Stereo one mic - records only the left channel (you have to duplicate this track in post to have stereo sound) Stereo two mics - send the L and R channel individually to the receiver and you have a single stereo track (not practical for recording two people as you will have one person on the L and the second on the R . I am using this with a Sony A7III and the audio input level on my camera is set at 3.
I so appreciate you posting this clarification. My head spins trying to get this concept straight. I understand Mono vs Stereo. Super excited about these mics. Just did my first talking heads video and it will also be a staple at wedding ceremonies for me. The ability to record the groom and officiant and have back ups in case the feed into the camera bugs out is just that extra level of confidence. Love it!
RUclips ads are insane now. Im getting almost 2 ads pop up while watching your video per minute. Always great content Javen. Im convinced, I need to get this DJI MIC. Thanks for putting this together.
So annoying. I had to break down and pay the RUclips monthly fee to get rid of the ads. My life is so much more pleasant now but it is a cost I wish I didn't have to pay. Sadly, it means I can't contribute as much to the actual content makers.
Hey Jeven, just got mine yesterday. One heads up is that the production units being shipped have a simple drawstring pouch, not that nice zippered pouch/organizer. Really excited to test this thing out! Update: made a video about this and these mics on my channel as well. Excellent piece of kit!
I just got my mics, and when im monitoring the audio its echoed. What's your experience monitoring your audio? When I monitor the audio with my zoom h6 its a great experience. What you're hearing is exactly what you're getting. But when I monitor the audio from my dji mics it has a slight echo. And its not a solid representation of what I am actually recording. Any thoughts or recommendations on this would be super helpful. Thank you
@@idontfilm I actually haven't tried monitoring yet on the DJI Mic since it's usually just me filming myself. I'll give it a shot when I can and see if I get an echo as well.
@@AustinGreeneExplores I just got done filming some content at work. I had my the mics at -3db. Everything did come out great. But when I live monitored them it just doesn't sound like the final product baked into the video. Like I said its echoed. Really helpful video! I’m really new to filming myself and I couldn’t figure out how to make my recorded volume louder on this mic system. (I didn’t even know it was called gain 🤦🏼♀️). Thank you for your step by step easy to follow user guide!
This was a very through and informative video, thanks for making it! I have the DJI Mic myself and while I thought I knew the basics pretty well, I did get some new information and ideas about this video. And I'll have to say that, for instance, the tip for using the DJI Action 2 magnetic mounts to attach the DJI Mic transmitter to a stand is quite an inventive and clever idea. Once more, thanks for this and keep up the good work!
As a professional photographer, now getting into video, I found your video on DJi Mic and its functions invaluable, including all the pro tips you share with your followers. Thank you.
Great info! Thanks for making this. So Far i’m using these mics for both short films and also for improv where 2 actors can walk freely around the stage and have their audio captured cleanly. The problems i’m working on troubleshooting still are the transmitter gain for loudness, muffless, and echo in a loud space. Otherwise I love These mics so far! Thanks for making the video!
Dude, this was so helpful; thank you! I just picked this up and have used it for 2 videos. For some reason both transmitters were at -12db…now I know how to bring this up!
I love how no one is mentioning the horrible Hiss sound that's coming from the transmitter with a lot of Lavalier Mics (like the Rode Lavalier GO) that makes the sound unusable. Maybe that's the reason it got delayed a million times, probably DJI is aware of that and tries to fix it before release. Some yt channels mention it briefly and still praise this to heaven - sorry but most of the people don't want to attach a huge transmitter to the shirt of your interview partner, that doesn't look professional. If this is fixed it's an awesome device, but until then this not usable for a lot of content creators.
Yes, you need certain lavaliers that don't bring any "interference" noise, not hiss. Bought the Saramonic lavaliers with it, one being white and the other being black depending on the clothing, with my fingers crossed!
@@Bo_Hazem ...yes it's interference noise, but it happens with a lot of Lavalier Mics paired only with the dji mic. These mics work fine with the Rode WGII. If you already own a 100$ mic and suddenly get interference noise only with the dji mic that's definitely a bummer
the back up feature is awesome.Loving the fact you arent bound to the receiver. I shoot both stills and video at weddings and being able to skip those steps and know I'm getting the audio is going to be a game changer
I have a GoPro 11 and use the DJI external mike all the time. I used to have the Rode wireless mike and used their hand microphone with the large sponge like cover. NOW, when I need a hand mike, I use the Rode hand mike with the wind protector and slide an external mike right on the mount. It works perfectly.
Thanks for the vid. Really appreciate it. Mine just arrived and while it didn't come with the case you have, it did come with a synch bag with all the accessories.
You asked how I am going to use the mics. For me, mostly leaning out of train windows with a GoPro 11 and an Inkee Falcon plus. The wind noise suppression with the dead cat is 100%. Thanks for an instructive and useful video.

Just bought this system yesterday and your video has been better than anything DJI could have done as tutorial. I’m used to the Sennheiser AVX, which cost like 800 euros for one mic and receiver … and this seems to be a better system, specially if the range really is as good as you claim … and even if it fails, the back up recording is such an amazing feature .. looking forward to treat it out in real conditions. If you were to make more videos about it, would be super interested in seeing set up on cameras with XLR inputs like FX3 / FX6 and in combination with other mics on the camera (like shotgun mic for ambient sound) Thanks for the amazing work

Amazing video. I just bought the same mic two days back. I was too lazy to look at the manual to know the features. After seeing your video, i felt so comfortable and confident to use this. Keep up your good work sir.
Super excited about these mics. Just did my first talking heads video and it will also be a staple at wedding ceremonies for me. The ability to record the groom and officiant and have back ups in case the feed into the camera bugs out is just that extra level of confidence. Love it!
Can you tell me if there is a way to lock the transmitter so that the groom doesn't accidentally turn it off???
@@laceyproductions9236yes there is....
@@laceyproductions9236stop lock option
I thought the much was kind of cheesy.
I guess moving forward ill just pre record some test samples, review it, and go from there.
Thanks Jeven. I just got my MIC set this morning and just watched your vid. It's clear and simple. Great job. Really appreciate it.
Legend has it my grandkids will see this mic released in their lifetime
They got them available right now at BH
I just bought this and had no idea where to start, thank you SO much!
I wonder if this means they’ll actually release it soon :)
Every time a new video comes out, this is my first thought.
The DJI Store showed availability in January, then March and now the website shows April. Sheesh!
Mines on order
Should receive it in two weeks 🤞🏼
@@gr33kb0i you just be in china then cuz that’s the only place
@@ChristopherOdd no North America. Hope the shipment date won’t change…..😬
As long as I get it by next month I’ll be happy.
As a professional photographer, now getting into video, I found your video on DJi Mic and its functions invaluable, including all the pro tips you share with your followers. Thank you.
Great info! Thanks for making this. So
Far i’m using these mics for both short films and also for improv where 2 actors can walk freely around the stage and have their audio captured cleanly. The problems i’m working on troubleshooting still are the transmitter gain for loudness, muffless, and echo in a loud space. Otherwise I love
These mics so far! Thanks for making the video!
Thanks, and very useful. I’ll be using my kit tomorrow in an interview shoot with more confidence now.
We need a guide on release date first. This mic has been out in the wild for months. I’m ready for V2 when we don’t even have v1.
It's out now. Just got mine yesterday! Ordered last week.
@@AustinGreeneExplores What the heck man! I preordered back in December and still haven't received mine yet!
@@thenerdshow I hear you. I ordered from AVC Photo Store in Miami based on a Reddit tip and it got to Hawaii in 3 days. Give it a shot!
this guy doesn't know what happening lol
Haven’t had that happen on my WGII set
Yes, you need certain lavaliers that don't bring any "interference" noise, not hiss. Bought the Saramonic lavaliers with it, one being white and the other being black depending on the clothing, with my fingers crossed!
@@Bo_Hazem I use the Purple Panda mics and they sounds just fine as well
@@EricKolibas that problem doesn't occur on the WGII as far as I know
@@Bo_Hazem ...yes it's interference noise, but it happens with a lot of Lavalier Mics paired only with the dji mic.
This is super useful. I have an issue my battery level for both receiver gets lower and lower eventhough I've charged it using the casing.
The first video since I started my content creator journey who explained everything and got my full attention THANK YOU 💪🏾💪🏾
I have a GoPro 11 and use the DJI external mike all the time. I used to have the Rode wireless mike and used their hand microphone with the large sponge like cover. NOW, when I need a hand mike, I use the Rode hand mike with the wind protector and slide an external mike right on the mount. It works perfectly.
thank you so much for this in-depth guide! I just got mine and this has helped so much :))
Glad it helped!
Very helpful. I ordered my first external mic yesterday and went with this mic. I can't wait to get started using it for my videos. Thanks for the tutorial. I'll be saving this video for reviewing later.
Mate I have always found your videos educational and this one also stands to my expectation. After watching this video I am going to order DJI Mic system for my work. Thanks again
that case build quality and feel is super premium, i cannot believe for the price how nice and neat everything is. amazing product
If you were to make more videos about it, would be super interested in seeing set up on cameras with XLR inputs like FX3 / FX6 and in combination with other mics on the camera (like shotgun mic for ambient sound) Thanks for the amazing work
Incredibly detailed video! I really appreciate the depth you went into for all the features and configurations. The workflow section was also very helpful. Thank you!
Professional demonstration! DJI should give you credits for serving as a User Guide.
Thanks for this - I've been recording interview-style walks with folks & have just been using raw GoPro audio.. this will be a huge upgrade & this video gets everything off on the right foot. Appreciate it Jeven!
DJI really thought of everything when it came to this mic. Its very impressive
I don't think I could have begun to use my DJI Mic kit without your Beginner's Guide video. Having no video experience and buying the DJI Mic and DJI Action 2 at the same time, my head was spinning. Who would have thought the Action 2 would be usable by watching a 10 minute video, and the DJI Mic would not?! Your 37-min video got me going, though. Thank you! ⭐x 5.
I do a lot of work with the local community school of the arts and a couple of theater companies. I purchased the DJI Mic to help with recording audition videos for actors, pre and post show interviews, and back-up audio for public speakers that I am shooting during their presentation. This is vey convenient and a lot more versatile compared to using a shotgun microphone.
Exact infos we are looking for. Straight to the point, thank you!!
I've watched a few DJ Mic videos to get an idea if this is something for me. This was by far the best one. Thanks!
I viewed both your video on DJI Mic and Rode wireless Go 2. Just want to say thank you for such detail content.
I have never use a system like this before, your video just clear a lot of fogs in my mind.
Thank you.
Thank you for posting this. Just got my DJI mic last week. Big help!
Whew! Thank you for this in depth video. There's no instructions that came with this. It gives you a QR code where you have to go to a website and verify credit card info and I'm not about to do that. Your video helped explain everything. Thank you sir!!!
I literally go through this video frame by frame. Thanks for the tutorial.
I just finished to watch this video, but Im already on my way to DJI market in Moscow, I have to use rode wireless go systems before, but this lil guy from dji its my game changer in simplicity of using my gear. I hate to looking for phone or laptop on stage when i need to change gain level second thing if you need to connect it directly to mac or iphone its much more comfort to do with dji!!!! thanks a lot for deep diving inside all main features of product
Great video - helped a lot. Will get my DJI Mic tomorrow and will use it for content creation.
I have some in the mail. I can not thank you enough for providing a 40-minute video on these!
I just got my DJI Mic in the mail today and found this video. I am a beginner and your video has been super helpful. I feel prepared for my video shoot tomorrow. I know I'll be watching it again but thank you so much! ❤️
Just got the the Mic for our channel, thanks for the run-though.
dude, great video, I really appreciate this, Just got the DJI Mic to up my audio on my handyman youtube channel and this video was super helpful! This must have taken you hours to make! Thanks for your hard work!
Thank you so much!!! This was amazing, I've had my DJI mic for almost a year and have only touched it twice. This video taught me sooooo much!!! I'm happy to call myself one of your new fans!
I didn't realize how much I needed such a detailed explanation until I opened the box. Thank you
I just bought this mic and I'm only 2 mins into the video but your are already hitting all the info (so far and what's to come) that I'm looking for such as workflow :-)
This is the best plain English tutorial for this DJI equipment. Great job!
Just got the product and was lost on how to use it. Thanks so much on your informative video. Life saver.
Been using my RODELINK for the last 8yrs and now that I have discovered DJI Mic and played with it just for a few hours I am selling my rodelink.
Thanks for this guide. I managed to get the mic set a month or so ago and I find myself still coming back to this video for extra info. Also, I love this mic system!!!
I still come back to this video once in awhile to recap. Thanks for the great tips Jeven!
Thank you! Very informative! I think this is what I’ve been searching for. Great for interviews and recording myself while vlogging and if I have a spontaneous conversation along the road I can just pull out the connection and my GoPro should just switch back to it’s settings, I hope!
I have watched this twice now. Once when it was released and again just now because my set finally arrived from B&H. Thank you for always making quality videos and sharing your knowledge. Be blessed, my friend, and keep up the fantastic work.
Any problem from bh? I was gonna order ir from bh but I didn’t like their customer service. They say we dont do free returns. Even u change ur mind n return, we don’t. If any issues, you have to contact with dji. I was like what tf why ibuy it from u then? I actually ordered it on official website 3-4 weeks ago but still i m waiting. Just thought maybe i can cancel n order from bh n i concerned about issues if i get it from bh.
@@user-qy2rp I have used B&H on and off over the past five years for items I am not able to get from local retailers. I personally have never had an issue regarding their customer service or their return policy. They have always treated me well when I have had concerns.
We really appreciate & enjoy all of your training material. We we're finally able to go through the mic training & it was very helpful TY. We will be using these mics in many settings. 1) To document our travels for memories & to share with others. 2) to utilize on our up & coming educational videos to help people with their diet (Eric is a cancer & kidney failure survivor). 3) Kristy is a master RV organizer. We have plans to do videos on this as well. Its all broken down on our website. We are semi retired and love sharing & giving back. You asked. 🤣❤️. TY
P.S. We hope to meet you someday through our travels.
Just got the mic and the first thing I did was watch this video. Many thanks for this easy-to-understand tutorial!
Glad it helped!
I bought these the other day because of your excellent coverage and received them today. They are super nice. I am coming from the Hollyland Lark set. They are fine. I wanted a non-lapel set which i guess they are very similar. Owning both, I like this set much better the phone attachment is huge. I will be using them in a one one one and three person scenario. I thought about using two and a Saramonic mixer on camera. But then I thought why not place them on mini tripod like at 33:18 and just have them in between subject and do a mic test prior to and check the levels to make sure each subject is receiving okay.
DJI hit a home run with these... Compact and convenience all in one kit finally
Just upgraded my audio gear to this microphone system, and your video was really useful for a first user like myself. Thanks!
I’ve just received mine and this has been so helpful! Such an in depth walkthrough of the entire system 🙌🏼🙏🏼
This video is a gold mine.
Just bought the DJI mics for my fishing channel and watched your tutorial which was extremely helpful and easy to follow. Thanks very much 👍🙏
Good stuff. I just got the DJI Mic. I haven't used it out in the field yet but I'm looking forward and excited for it. I started a motovlog recently. I didn't necessarily buy the mic for helmet use on my bike but more for when I go to locations. It will be a major improvement to sound for me. Thanks for all the info. Great video.
Thanks for taking the time to share this in-depth tutorial! I'm preparing to film my first wedding this weekend, and your insights and tips were super helpful to quickly prepare.
Thank you for a very good presentation and explaining a lot of information about this microphone 😎👍
thanks so much for this comprehensive guide! you've given us some great tips so hopefully things will go smoothly once we get this mic for ourselves. putting the lock on the transmitter when not in use is a great tip. We'll definitely have to keep that in mind.
Thank you so much for this video. I heard that the mic without the wind protection is quite disturbed by heavy breathing. Do you agree?
Here's a new video suggestion for you Jeven! DJI Mic as a stop/start remote from the transmitter (link button). Short press to operate. Works for DJI Action2, iPhone AND Android. It's now my 'go to' for content. Cheers. Ed
A lot of info. I have only been flying a drone for 5 years and not professionally, but have just purchased the Mavic 3 with the RC Pro controller and have since subscribed to your channel for my drone training do's and dont"s. I just wanted to say thanks for being so thorough in your presentations.
Best Beginners Guide for the DJI mic so far- big compliment for this tutorial!
finally after like 4 months of waiting past the original release date IVE GOT MY HANDS ON ONE AND ITS SO SEXY. great guide Jeven! I bought the mic cuz i saw your video review a while back thanks mate
I primarily shoot weddings and have been using a Sennheiser and Sony wireless lav systems since the beginning. They're large and bulky but i've had great success with both and i've been reluctant to change. Just got this DJI mic from a buddy who upgraded, Havent used them yet, but I'm very excited. This video was a great introduction. Thank you! Will definitely subscribe and check out your other content.
Just got mine this morning :). This video was just what I was looking for & explains all the functions in detail. My immediate thought was no mention was made of aligning audio with video if you use it as a standalone recorder.
Dude this it great! Thanks for making this video!
I just purchased this mic set and went straight to your YT channel for this out-of-the-box walk through. Thank you for this, incredibly helpful as always. I'll be using these to record my Qi Gong YT videos. Cheers. 😃👍🏼
