You might get complaints for explaining things like we are 5 years old, but for the LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT STOP! This is how every video should be explaining gear and how to use them! Some of us have ADHD as adults, and we need this level of explanation to follow through. Please don't stop creating guides like this Jeven. It makes thing easily understandable for those of us with disabilities.
This is the best tutorial out there. You can always skip past things you already know, or you can just learn them again as a refresher. Great job, Jeven.
Man, I’m a 63 yo physician and tech geek before there was even such a thing as a personal computer. My comment to you is, DON’t STOP! You’ve got the Right Stuff and will continue to grow exponentially Thank you for what you do! You’re a great teacher
For some reason my RX and TX stopped pairing with each other after I've paired the transmitter to my camera. I am trying to have my Reciever connect to my Transmitter. Then I plan on attaching the receiver to the Action 4. But the RX and TX won't pair anymore. The transmitter automatically pairs to my A4, which is cool, but I want to control the gain with the receiver as well. I tried the pairing with the case method, still nothing. Edit: I actually got it, no lie, I dropped my reciever on accident and it connected after 🤦🏽♂️💀
Incredible! You could NOT have been any more helpful to a beginner. Thank you! Also the ingenuity behind this mic is unlike anything. Everything just works. They packed all this stuff and the touch controls in such a tiny little device. I only hope the audio quality justifies the $350.
Thank you!!!! My husband just bought me this ( love tech but just starting making videos) and I opened it and was LOST. Watched a video and still was lost… watched this and feel much better!
I had to give up drones many years ago and you were my go to guy for learning and understanding how to use them, years later I’m looking at doing voice over work with my new DJI Mic 2 and you’re still that same guy. Quality content as always, I appreciate what you bring to this world. Thank you.
There's a reason why I subscribed to you a long time ago Jeven. Easy to understand tutorial, not trying to sell me a bunch of bull, and you make the product sound exciting to use. Am eager to get started with this setup! Thanks from Dublin, Ireland.
Thanks for this great video, I used it to help decide on getting the DJI Mic 2, which I ordered and it arrived yesterday. My first wireless mic setup and came from a Zoom H1N. Now, I'm watching it again to refresh myself on its usage. A couple of things I noticed, which you may have covered in the video but are worth mentioning again. 1. The Safety Track only works when using the receiver, i.e. it is not recorded to the internal of the transmitter. 2. When using Bluetooth on the transmitter you can also NOT use Intelligent Noise Cancelling nor Internal Recording. 3. And lastly, when you start recording on a receiver connected Camera, internal transmitter recording does not start automatically, you have to manually start if you want both, in case of a signal drop from the transmitter. 4. I saw somewhere else that said 32-bit float was not recorded to the internal transmitter, but it does, in fact, record 32-bit float. 5. When using the transmitter in Bluetooth mode connected to an iPhone, you won't get DJI audio in when using the default Camera/Video app, you need a 3rd party where you can manually change the audio input, there is also a hack to use a screen recording to change the audio input to DJI and then record video with the default app. Please correct me if I am mistaken on any of the above. Again, thanks for a great video.
@@JevenDovey Good!! Should be more than "a little bit though. Just saying! Your videos have to take a lot of time, not just to shoot but in pre-pro and post, to layout in a way that will make it easy for viewers to digest. Thank you for all you do!
I just had the dji mic 2 (single) delivered today, I didn't know how much you could do with it. I'm glad I came across your video, I wouldn't have a clue about the all the options that are available with this little mic. Thanks very much.
Just wanted to say that these videos are the best my friend. I know they seem simple at times, but for people that have just pulled these things out of the box and the instructions are so small and they bought them second hand open box and there were no directions. These tutorials are a lifesaver. I wish you all the best and the most success with your RUclips channel. I know how hard and tedious it is to make videos as I've been out for 2 years and I watch people put no thought time or process into their videos and they get millions of views and you can spend hours and hours if not days and sometimes weeks just to make a video. I actually just did a video on never before seen pictures of Metallica from 1983 and I haven't even had a thousand views after a week! I just think it's insane sometimes and get to the point where I feel like throwing in the towel. Hopefully I'll get some views one day like you. I guess I just got to keep at it
Just bought the DJI Mic 2 to pair with my DJI Action 4 and the obvious first place to come for a tutorial is Jeven Dovey.... calm, precise and complete beginner tutorial... thanks again,,, you are awesome... long time subscriber
Dude, I've been looking for this kind of video since I bought the Mic2 and finally found this instead of the hype videos that all the other dudes do. Thank you! So perfect for what I needed!
A superb tutorial, packed with everything we need and nothing we don't. At last a video titled 'Complete Beginner's Guide' is actually exactly that. So refreshing. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make this.
WOW! I usually don’t write comments since i‘m a silent viewer but this guide is out of this world. This is definitely the best and most detailed one I‘ve seen so far. Watched the full video and this is all I need. Can’t wait for mine to arrive tomorrow 🎉
What do I do when one of my transmitters doesn't show up on the receiver? Out of the box only 1 mic is working. Pretty annoying, i've updated the firmware but still nothing.
Just ordered these and I’ll be getting it later today (thanks Amazon same day) but this guide is amazing I’m tech savvy and could have probably messed around, but I’m so glad I clicked on this video because it is so in depth and it’s amazing to see all the features I will definitely be using the ability to link to my phone through Bluetooth for when I don’t want to use my camera. GREAT VIDEO!!!
DJI really knocked it out of the park again with this mic. So many nice and useful features added its definitely worth upgrading. Thanks for the nicely done presentation.
Jeven, I always enjoy referring to your channel when I need a thorough review of a product. Super consistent and comprehensive every time. I have the same setup that you use here: DJI Mic 2 + A7Siii. And despite the fact that DJI has recommended those settings AND the fact that several other pro RUclipsrs recommend the same settings, I can't even come close to getting them to work. With my transmitters at +0 gain, my receiver at +9, and my Sony at +1, the audio volume when I pull the footage into FCP is way, way too quiet even if I max the volume on it to +12. So I play with the camera levels, ensuring the -6 / -12 target and it's still crazy quiet in FCP. Combing that with the fact that Matt Johnson says the 32-bit float doesn't even work for the camera input (only the receiver's internal memory) and I honestly feel like throwing these things in the trash. I've been sitting here for hours, recording a hundred different ways (including pulling audio from the transmitter) and none of it, regardless of settings, is even remotely usable. 😩
This is the first video I came across that went into detail for every feature in a super clear and concise way. It definitely helped me because this is my first time working with any type of camera and audio recording work. Any information is helpful, even something as simple as how to upload the data to a computer or delete data directly on the receiver (no one else I saw wver mentioned these). I just want to make better videos, and all of the info can get really confusing or lost, but you organized it well. Thanks for all of the tips.
Incredibly helpful. I have no idea how you culled all of the from the printed manual, but this is everything I needed. I’m new to video and audio for video so it’s all pretty intimidating but you’ve helped tremendously. Thank you!
I subbed after 4 mins of listening. I love how you explained everything in this video. Definitely gonna get a pen and pad and check out your old videos. Thank you!

Hi Jeven, I'm hoping you see this comment and can answer my question. I am _loving_ this video by the way. How do you find the DJI Lavalier mic teamed with the DJI Mic 2? I just bought it all - straight into the transitter the audio sounds good. When I plug in the DJI lav mic, the audio is terrible. Have you found a difference between the 2? Many thanks for your great work 🙏🏼
Hi Jeven, great video as always! i'm an happy owner of a DJI Osmo action 4 and i'm very interested to buy a dji mic 2, just one trasmitter to bind it to the OA4 via Bluetooth, how can i adjust the levels/gain on this configuration? thank you in advance, cheers from Roma Italy
No explanation how to connect two transmitters. One will not connect for me. Then didn’t even show how to get to the settings section to change for Mono or Stereo
Perfect video from a great RUclipsr. Congratulations! I bought the DJI MIC2 Combo, was a bit lost...not anymore. Thank you for such a detailed explanation.
Jeven - Fantastically well produced!!!! Thank you!!! I just bought a DJI MIC 2 and was dismayed at the cryptic box-included instructions. Your video removed 100% of the confusion and gave me some great recommendations. I’m going to be using my mics with my GoPro camera for now - and am definitely more confident going into it than when first unboxing my DJI MIC 2. -- Oh - and also subscribed!
Thank you, I really like the way you explain, specially how to connect with bluetooth, very detail. I searched and found many video, but could not find. Only your video who explain about blue and green light when pairing with bluetooth.
Like all your videos, clear and concise. You don’t need to plug the “like and subscribe” thing of your videos. You’re an authority, that will happen organically. Thank you! This thing was a bit confusing to me after breaking it out of the box. You’ve completely demystified if for me in your usual no fluff, succinct style.
Epically good video, thank you for making it. Theres no way to get this great of information explained so well from anywhere, especially DJI. Thank you!
Great tutorial, thank you very much for this! By far the most comprehensive and best explained video. I just purchased the DJI Mic 2 complete set and this was super useful. One thing I was hoping you'd cover is what setting to use if you're using DJI Mic 2 with receiver going straight into an iPhone. Have had any experience doing that that you could share?
19:10 saving for later incase I need reference to this again. When you press the power button once to activate the intelligent noise cancelling the led light color turns from green to light green to indicate that it is activated.
Sweet! i held off buying the Creator combo pack for the Pocket 3 and now purchased it on its own so i could get these two mics separately (instead of 1 with the combo pack). Not getting the Combo pack means i won't have the battery handle but that is a moot point as i plan to charge from a power bank when needed. The handle business is not something i wanna fuss with. Thanks for the insightful video and detailed explanations. I'm still only halfway through watching and i'm sold!
I was able to buy the battery handle separately and it really came in handy. One note, do. Ot store with the battery plugged in as it will keep trying to charge tHE p3 and discharge completely
On the CREATOR version, how can I enable recording lock? So it always keeps the internal recording. Currently the internal recording stops everytime the button is bumped, Missed a lot of audio sound bites, went back to the original DJI mic.
I initially didn't want to watch this vid because of the length. Instead I wasted almost an hour watching other vids only to decide I better watch this one. As usual Jeven, this vid was really informative and helpful. Thank you.
@@JevenDovey Good night Sir please can you help me here I would love to learn how to mute the mics individually when I’m using both at the same time please help it’s urgent
So once the mic is connected to the osmo 5, when i turn on the camera and start recording, do i still need to press record on the mic? Or does it auto record audio as well? Also, what is the purpose of the receiver then? Do i have to bring it out once i have connected the mics to the camera? Thanks!
Great video thanks! Could you explain again how to set the back up audio to work please (or correct me) I think you said it only works when used as mono + back up and has to be set from the Receiver. If the transmitter mic is being used stand alone how to activate the32 bit? Thanks mate! Carl 🙂
can we use the mic in a classroom setting, if yes, can you please demonstrate how to do it, example if you are trying to use a laptop explaning a powerpoint
Thanks for sharing. I just switch from my old Senheiser G3 as i’m not doing much tv shoot anymore and i would say that the dji mic2 are litterally game changer. So easy to use and when you’re a one man shooter doing camera and sound seriously it’s so fun to work with simple tools like this. One thing i’ll have to try i a jack 1/8 to an xlr so i can use it with an fs7.

Can I connect 3 microphones at the same time, along with the microphone from the Pocket3 I bought before?
You didnt watch my video…. No you can’t. Only 2 at one time
You will just record to the internal storage on the 3rd transmitter and then sync in post.
So in 32 bit float if you clip or distort at the lav mic, that will be captured in the recording? So in theory they should come out with a 32bit lav?
This is so amazing and useful. I don’t think I’ve ever paid more attention in my life 💀

On the CREATOR version, how can I enable recording lock? So it always keeps the internal recording. Currently the internal recording stops everytime the button is bumped, Missed a lot of audio sound bites, went back to the original DJI mic.
Super helpful and clear tutorial. Thank you very much for taking the time.
Thank you for putting this together, extremely detailed and helpful, I'll be coming back to this multiple times.
I don’t ever hardly comment on videos, but this tutorial was so sound (haha get it) that I felt like I needed to.
Just what I needed! I could not figure how to record via the receiver LOL until this video! Thanks man
I initially didn't want to watch this vid because of the length. Instead I wasted almost an hour watching other vids only to decide I better watch this one. As usual Jeven, this vid was really informative and helpful. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I for the life of god could not figures out what the clip on the receiver was until I watch this and realized it fits perfectly on my Canon Rebel 7
Long winded because you legit covered EVERYTHING! I just watched it at 1.5x and skipped around, it was perfect for catching up to speed and being dji mic 2 ready!
are you using the wireless pro or this one? i need of them for recording lectures 2 hour long using the camera. Do you have recomendation?
This video is so well done, I watched it before and after the purchase. Thanks, Jeven.
