I wish I would've known about this bulletin 2 weeks ago. Changed my leaking ofhg and did an oil change /flush as well as installed a new valve cover for the pcv issues I was having at the same time. Then, as I've done in all 3 of my 90's jdm cars and the 2 wrx and 1 sti subies I've owned, I removed the fuse for the ignition coils and left the coils disconnected for 1 push of the start button. Then I connected the coils and fuse, started my 2015 M235i, let her run for 20 minutes at idle, checked for leaks, then took her on a highway speed 45 minute drive. No leaks. G2G! Negative, 4 days ago I checked the oil and I was at minimum, so I looked for leaks, found some drips at the turbo, and sweat at the ofh thermostat gasket. So I drained the oil to start diagnosis revealing several large metal chunks in my oil filter and the dreaded gold sparkle in my oil. Now I am about to drop the subframe and pray its just the bearings and not camshaft damage along with oil pump disaster. Fml, all cause I was doing my best to keep the car maintained with the assumption that my over 24 years of maintaining all my own vehicles experience was good enough for maintaining a BMW N55 engine. I'll let you know how bad it is asap, maybe do a video on being a bmw noob also. Thanks for your videos, now I'll go see why you got rid of your m235i.
Oil pump, oil cooler or oil filter housing gaskets are fairly common jobs. A lot of long term bmw owners might have to do their oil filter housing gasket 2-3 times over the course of ownership.
my 2014 n55 235i with 65k miles, yesterday start sound like the piston hit the head very bas. a month ago i have to replace the oil filter cap cause oil leaking. can be these two thing correlated?
@ a month ago , when the oil started leaking, i have reached the min. level of oil. not the yellow lamp. but the red, and immediatly stop the car. i topped up 1L of oil to go soon at a bmw shop.
@@lorenzosimoncelli4910 if you reach “min” which asks u to add 1L, that’s ok. But if you reach below min, then it can be bad. But even then it shouldn’t cause piston hitting your valves. Just have it towed to a workshop. Don’t drive it until you assess
@ the saddest fact. yesterday i was at the track day open pit for not race car in Misano. after the last lap, i turn off the engine after 5min at idle. when i started again the engine sound was terrible. u have an instagram account to send you the video for your opinion?
Where’s the link m8? I’m boutta replace my rod bearings in the near future lol. Appreciate this crucial info
Definitely very important, I am about to do this job myself!

@@Vendettacustoms I’m so sorry to hear mate and I can only wish you the best and pray that the damage isn’t high. Please keep me in the loop.
So what was the root cause? You didnt prime your engine oil properly enough?
How often are you swapping out an engine or doing an engine reassembly though

@@lorenzosimoncelli4910 if you just replaced the oil filter cap (plastic one). It should not be correlated. I imagine your oil level was okay?
