I’m glad I found this video. 2012 BMW 535i I just replaced the Eccentric shaft with the bearings and a servo motor. All original BMW parts. Installed a new valve cover and spark plugs. I’m not able to do the initial valvetronic relearn procedure and I have a code what won’t clear and that code wasn’t there before I did the work. The old servo motor was bad I think with the codes what I was getting and making the woodpecker sound every time you unlocked the car . One day that noise stopped one day and the car would crank and would not start. I will try to reprogram the DME and see what happens. The code what I can’t clear now is 134F01 Valvetronic adjustment range: master adaptation outside tolerances. I wil keep you posted.
Sadel, great info! I stress to other coworkers to code scan every car that enters the shop just for this reason. It's not always done, but I'm aware that these days unfortunately you have to CYA. The average consumer doesn't understand the complexity of today's cars and technology. They just get in and drive. 5 extra minutes of code scan can save a lot of grief later. Our industry will always be viewed as being thieves thanks to a handful of crooked shops. That'll never change. CYA. Thanks to you for providing that valuable info which can save a lot of unnecessary parts changing. Also, I've found it's OK to fire certain customers based on experiences like this one. Thank you again Sadel for your professionalism and good work! A+!
Thanks for the help, im gonna find a friend with a tool to reset my permanent valvetronic disable code(same one you took care of) this code is on my 335 2012 f30. Runs, drives, startup a little more aggressive, that is it
Thank you for your efforts. A few observations: The difficulty in explaining complex systems/procedures to uneducated/ignorant customers has been an ongoing issue for decades. It is a highly sought after skill in many fields if you are capable of it. Some customers unfortunately NEVER get it (or don't want to). The difference between OEM and OBD scantool data is something that most outside (heck, many in the trade as well) do not understand or have any knowledge of. I am curious about the decision to pursue repairs on a vehicle that has several oil pressure related DTC's, i am not hugely knowledgable on BMW's, but would it not make sense to remedy those first? Thank you.
Yes, this customer was just not very receptive at all and was kind of just repetitively insinuating that I have had to just be the cause of all this issues. He didn't even seem to grasp the fact of how important oil pressure issues are and didn't care to look into them.
am working on a particular bmw in my shop presently the problem with the car is when you pack it over night it will hardly wake up the next day, I mean when you insert the smart key nothing will pop on the dash no ignition no crank but I have checked ur previous video on same issue when I checked the 2 wires on earth therminal no wire only, but I found 2 wire on positive therminal been removed already any help please I will appreciate tnx.
Sucks sometimes when you have a car with multiple issues. Sadile I recently ran into one with the high pressure oil faults and it was a doozy. The dme actually registers high pressure before the engine is ever on in data pids. In the end I did the oil control valve which was a nightmare to extract. Would love to learn more about how the oil pressure readings on these should be and how the faults come about.
This one can be one of two ways, because BMW switched the type of style they monitor the psi. One way is with a psi switch up top by the filter cap, the other later method is with a different type of psi sensor and its located down on the block under the intake, to the left area of the oil control valve. The sensors work completely different.
I have a 2013 bmw 335 car starts runs but every cold start has a terrible idle almost stalls but never stalls I am going to try to update the dme I’ve coded before I have a autel maxicom do I just need the icom to connect to it or on my certain models can do that
I am not sure if that will do the programing, just go into the tool when plugged in and see if it has the programming tab and it should show what you will need for making connection to the vehicle.
@@DTEAuto yea my scanner doesn’t do it . I do have ISTA + and a battery maintainer I read on the forum you can update without icom and only need icom when programming is that true . For my issue I think updating might fix it
I think you might be able to use a jbox if you don't have icom, but with ista you won't be able to do individual module update. I believe it will force you to do other modules updating at the same time which can increase the chance of programing failures like bricking the car. Lauch Autel and some others will let you do individual modules
Hi, great thorough information and lots of patience and detail of what you did to eliminate the code, just by,ill say refreshing the latest version of software, ty!! QUESTION. I ( i have a 2013 bmw x5 35i .3.0 litre, e70 ) am under the understanding that you can just unplug the electrical connector on your valvetronic motor, the engine will then just start up fine and run fine as throttle body takes over and operates normally?? . I was told it operates this way because of safety feature and it for this purpose is for the "backup system" so if there is an issue with the valvetronic system. What are your thoughts and does the throttle body take over anyways if the valvetronic motor is disconnected??? ty for your input and also other viewers on U Tube ty
I want to know this too. My car sat in a shop for 7 months because the valvetronic system wouldn't let it start. It RANDOMLY started one day with my mechanic and we still can't figure out why. I want to just disable the system entirely but haven't heard of such a thing until your comment. I hope he comes back and says yes. lol
@@YunqTab hi Sir. this person never ever responded.... most utube people are just looking for "VIEWS" But, actually NO you cannot disconnect the valvetronic system OR disconnect the wiring plugin going to the valvetronic motor. If we/you do disconnect the wiring the car will start up fine and within a few seconds the DME will recognize there is a problem with the vehicle and the DME will surely put the vehicle in "LIMP" Mode. so there we go sir!! this is at least pertaining to my 2013 x5 35i 3.0 litre turbo ty
You had a customer from hell. Great explanation. Over the last 40 years I have learned to refuse jobs based on my gut feel about the car owner. No money is worth it!
Code P15FB bmw 320I xdrive 2015 it sat for a month. I disconnected the battery and cleared the code it never came back on. But when I lock my doors or unlock them, i gere a loud drill noise like a bad valvtronic motor. I just dont know why I didnt get a code for a bad valvtronic motor. Anyone else experiece something similar. Is it possible my battery is bad. Some times it makes the noise after the doors have locked or randomly
Hey buddy nice work. Can you send me the link to your video better explaing this process you just did with the valvetronix slash dme update. My x5m is having the same problem and i just got an xtoll d9 pro and want to try this first.... This car has been kicking my ass for other issues aswell but im getting them lol. Please help..... Thanks for all that you do to help .
Those numbers refer to the complete vehicles " I-Level" or integration level. That will contain the complete overall updates of individualized module updates that you can see those numbers in the list below next to each module as in this case the DME software number was the 8638802, which it showed no new updated part number for so it just re-writes this version into it. Hope that helps
Hey boss man I have been watching your videos with the vanos system and I have this car that is throwing a 113e01 same code you have. I have re flashed the DME to the latest program I could find on my autel 908. My part number is F001-23-07-530.I beleive I need to replace the valve tronic servo motors. Please let me know if you have the time.\
hi, I had z4 with the N20 (same gen. 3 vanos system) and nothing helped to cure those exact 2 dtcs: sw update, wiring harness, vanos motor, examining oil passages, you name it - owner decided to auction the car at the end
Next time the customer can go and pay three times the price at the other shop. He deserves it……and I hope the other shop fails to fix his issue! I think we can all assume that this customer is on Santa’s naughty list.
CRAXY price comes from, we charged you a diag fee, thanks, but if the problem is what we think it will be and we really do not know what we are doing or we don't want to do the job just to find out its another problem, we will give you a huge price to say thanks for our not so well earned diag fee, but you need to go someplace else to get this one fixed better than what we can do it, or give you a higher degree of assuredness, that is why shops give a CRAZY price, and the law is not going to prevent a high price estimate before the job is actually completed and deemed a rip off later.
I’m glad I found this video.

Mine had a psi sensor up top but the oil control valve was under the exhaust side. I think n52 with the continental dme on top of the intake manifold.
Custom tune mapping (if exists) will be erased by defaulting/reprogramming DME without customer agreement.
Did this for an F10 I had recently for similar faults but unfortunately he came back and needed an eccentric shaft and motor replaced.

Does one need to Check for the Latest software update for the DME so as to know if that would solve the Valvetronic issue
I think one would most likely look if they experience the valvetronic code first.

Can the launch creader elite carry out the update of the DME. Nice one sadel
I am not sure to be exact, but it is a very interesting question. I will have to see if I get another vehicle in here to be able to experiment.
Does the DME code reset also apply/work on N52s? Thx

Is the mechanic fault not changing the car and showing the owner what needs to be fixed
Bro you need to change the part is not only clear code you need to replace parts to
Why?
Did I not just show in the video that the DME was "logic locked" and it was a software issue that was rectified with programing???
