Well I’ll be damned man, I just found your channel and I’ve never seen someone so dedicated to armor and weapons to this degree. Especially the being mostly Russian and having knowledge of these things from not just today but decades ago. I love the loadout series and I’ve learned a hell of a lot just by binging your channel. Cannot wait to see what else you’re going to be doing.

These vids are getting better and better. Most people don't even know about the edge protection issue. Yeah I almost bought one of these for larp reasons...then looked at the price tag vs protection ratio and got a 6b47 instead 🤣🤣

@@rodiculous9464 SSH 68 but sure. And yeah I'm the guy to nitpick details like that. Also it doesn't make any sense imo why a basic steel helmet offers the same protection as a aramid SPECTRA or 6b47. Maybe if it was a SSH 68N or M with the added aramid lining but not basic steel, especially since they actually have inferior protection due to the steeper slope when compared to older Soviet helmets
@@alexguymon7117 I was just making a tarkov joke, theyre very similar. And yeah the game is poorly balanced af. The ssh68 was only rated for like 32acp irl iirc. The 6b47 is only gost 1 as well.
I'm definitely ready to see Oxide test the PASGT, ACH, and ECH as a comparison of Russian military helmets to US military helmets.

Have you ever tested nij lvl4 US plates. Im actually curious how multi hit these plates are cuz they never give you an exact round count or if it’s in a compromised spot. And if the poly plates are that much better than ceramic
You should try to make a Chetnik inspired kit, It’s mainly semi automatic AKs and either M53 copies or straight up the original MG42s

No. You're doing great, keep it up.
It is crazy how people think bullet protection and test is everything to a helmet.
Fragment protections is the main part of RU standard army helmet.
And bullet protections and fragment protection is not entirely correlated, especially if you included the weight requirement.
And in that area it is very good( on par with modern western one), but to keep it light, they omit the ahersive layer between the composite layer and only hot press it to lose weight. But it sacrificed bullet protection. Not that the round will penetrate( as seen on the 6b47 and 6b7 video), it will deform more against bullets due to the structure not being sticker together in between, it makes it easer to deform and delaminates when large objects like bullet hit it.
But against shrapnel, it is ok and the rating is similar to modern western helmet. While not having ahersive helps save weight for the requirement given by Russian army. It is not the problems of quality or the composite itself.
Steel, like SSh40, seems to provide better protection against pistol bullets than even SSh 68, but shrapnel protections is better on the 68.
Same with the army 6B helmet, it sacrifices pistol bullet performance( deform more) for a lighter and very good protection against fragment(which is most prominent threat on the field, not pistol bullet).
But the Kiver RSP, just like many fort helmet, is pos which is good at neither when compared with others
I completely agree with you that for normal infantrymen the protection againts shrapnell is far more important. Litearlly every military on the world (or at least that i know of feel free to correct me maybe some rich countries with relatively small numbers of soldiers that can afford it like Switzerland or Singapore) currently issues helmets that can only stop pistol rounds (and most likely wouldnt even stop the more expensive armor piercing rounds) for their grunts even the americans which spend more money than anyone. The technology simply isnt there yet unlike modern body armor which is still too expensive at the moment for regular infantry. The main focus is still on shrapnel protection and weight reduction because neck pain. That is why i think the 6b47 isnt that bad for regular russian army mich 2000 is better but still good enough. But this particullar helmet is meant to be for special (if i understand the video correctly) and anti terror forces which are much more likely to come under direct fire. From that aspect this helmet is trash and it is no wonder that FSB and other russian special forces want better helmet.

Heavier armor is not better armor, for infantry. Especially since rifles are still gonna pierce it.

I own an ACH because that's basically only thing you can buy in US AFAIK. Do you know if the new marine corps helmet is on the market? Supposedly it is way better and can stop some rifle rounds.

I had the opportunity to buy either a 6b47 or an SSH40. After watching the ballistic test vid, I opted for the SSH40.
SSH40 wins all the way in price/protection rating.
the 6b47 is lighter and has mounts+ i think the shell form factor and surface area were superior in protection. the 6b47 is also way more confortable to wear. dont forget its an army helmet ( mainly lightweight and frag protection are top priority ) and its already good that it performed above its characteristics.
