  • Whats up everyone! $1200 in 12 hours bustin it out interior trimming! I do a quick walkthrough of the home and show my installed products! Not to many people can accomplish this much, in this time!
    00:00 | Blowing out the dust!
    00:24 | And we are done! Whats up!
    01:50 | Walking in the front door
    03:00 | Upstairs in the home
    05:30 | Walking into Master Bedroom
    06:44 | Back downstairs
    07:54 | DROP ZONE!!!
    09:14 | Just chillin at the truck "vloggin"
    This video was just to help my credibility as I start this channel. I do work very hard each and every day and in doing so I have developed a system that really does make me extremely fast, with great quality, at installing trim! Unfortunately though after those long days of work I am totally gassed and just need to relax.
    Please enjoy the video and wait until the end! I quickly talk about another company of mine and get into a little of my mindset as a 33 year old. DREAM A BIT!!!!!!!!

    Hey Hunter, do you have a video showing you cutting and installing door, window and baseboard casings?

    God Bless you brother!
    I am a pro finish carpenter and I would not of touched that for anything less than $4600.
    I am hanging 5/6 custom solid core doors now 12 craftsman style windows (3 piece headers) and base.
    Price already sealed with GC ? $5600.
    How can you buy tools, pay a mortgage , and vehicle cost brother? Tell DR Horton to hire a handy man or better yet let that cheap bum do it himself! He won’t be will call you?
    If your Partner was there $600 ???
    We hv to demand to be paid a living wage! Trust me what do buyers look at when they walk in?
    FINISH WORK!!!!!!
    Dr Horton know this !
    Like I said you worked hard! Hard! For $1200?
    A crew of 3 could not do that! You keep making these and th Ruth fully I need a solid week to hand all those doors? I am picky , slow; but really good!
    I will pray you get a better deal!

      The fact that he didn’t reply makes it worse, and all the illegals doing crappy work because their “fast” also don’t help

      Really appreciate it! I’ll do my best to keep getting more footage of the things I’m doing these days. Took some time off of work for a while and did a bunch of camping and dirt biking so I haven’t been good with RUclips or having cell service…

    Bro! That is TONS of work! Please tell me you’ve reworked your pricing since then! Many trades charge $150/hr minimum for labor, so sounds like you’re leaving substantial $$ on the table! If someone asked you to hang 17 doors alone - how much would you bid? I’m a handyman and a SINGLE door install is $300-500 depending on exterior/interior. It’s not about how long it takes YOU to do things, it’s how much the job is worth, or better yet - what VALUE you’re providing. In this case, it’s busting out whole houses jn 12 hrs. As long as $1200 is good for you, I guess that’s all that matters but man, please take control of your business end and don’t be like most of these contractors out here busting their butts and killing their bodies for low pay!

    Looking forward to more content. I'm actually gonna start trimming out homes myself and need to develop a system to be as efficient as possible. Any insight into your system would be great.

      Thank you so much for commenting and sorry it’s been 2 weeks, was on a camping trip with no service...congratulations on wanting to start trimming homes! I have a pretty good system with my partner to get these done as fast as possible, while still maintaining great quality! I will have more content coming soon and will be happy to answer any questions you might have! Right now my first insight would be getting the right tools for the job...I have small lists of tools used in my descriptions of each video...some of my tools are battery operated for a reason, easy to travel around the house without running extension cords everywhere...are you looking for work in track home companies or more custom projects like finished basements or home remodels?

    Hunter, Wish you were here in Reno doing finish work for D.R. Horton as nothing is straight and hideous at best. After 14 month they are finally trying to fix everything including front door that was leaning 1.5" to the side revelaing big gaps of light. Ugh... Got a question on sills and will ask on your sill video. Thanks, wish all finish carpenter had your work ethic. Thanks for sharing...

      Appreciate your time to leave this comment! I really feel your pain when it comes to the quality of these homes! Homeowners in general are having the same pain here in the Denver metro area as well! I feel almost every major home builders has figured out a way to streamline theses homes way to fast, so quality starts to lack. I really do take pride in my work and strive to produce as much as I can as fast as I can with still keeping quality that I would “accept” in my own home. Unfortunately I have parted ways with DR Horton as of 2 weeks ago...won’t go into details but after 10 years I felt it was my time! Still picking up side work here and there for now and excited to see where my next avenue is going to take me (and Bryan my partner in crime)!
      What floor plan do you live in? (Name/square ft) just curious if it could be a model I have worked in for years! 😂
      Please don’t hesitate with questions especially because the majority of my carpentry has been for DR...
      Talk with ya soon!

    $1200 seems very low given all the work you did. I get $40 an hour and I probably achieve 10-20% of what you would do in an hour. Raise you prices and don't tell the gc you trim a full house in 12 hours ! Thanks for the videos !

    • @huntercarlson5446
      @huntercarlson5446  2 года назад +2

      Lol! Never tell the GC how long…especially when it comes to piece rate! 1200 is kinda low, but that’s the going rate for these track home currently. Appreciate your time on the channel and leaving some feedback! Have a blessed day 😎

    Did you go back to install door hardware, stops, etc?

    • @huntercarlson5446
      @huntercarlson5446  2 года назад +1

      I personally didn’t on this house but someone on the team did…we will go back a 2nd time to finish baseboard, door hardware, bathroom hardware, and spring the fire door to the garage…

    • @derickchristensen3219
      @derickchristensen3219 2 года назад +1

      @@huntercarlson5446 Do you leave baseboards off where carpet transitions to hard floor? I left these pieces off on the last one I did, I wasn't sure where to end them, figured it would be better to install after carpet. Is this what you're doing also?

    • @huntercarlson5446
      @huntercarlson5446  2 года назад +1

      @@derickchristensen3219 that’s exactly right…I will base all carpeted areas in the house and if carpet meets a finished floor I will wait on that piece of base until the hardwood or tile is complete. Most cases hardwood and tile are thicker than carpet and pad so if you install base prior to hardwood or tile you won’t be able to get the base tight to the flooring or you will nail the base to low and the flooring finishes up to the base, then you add a base 1/4” round to hide any gaps between floor and base…
      When nailing base tight to the hardwood with a carpet transition on that piece, the nap of the carpet will fill the gap underneath the base so the transition will be somewhat hidden…
      Great question! Hope my answer makes sense…

      @@huntercarlson5446 I went more into existing residential the last few years. Customers, one on one, seem to be able to deal with a schedule better than most companies...and quality control is maintained, leading to Referrals. Always a plus. I did laminate tops, for 6 years with a large scale builder. Made tons of money, but the stress sucked! I’m glad to scale it back. Stay busy, but keep the stress level in check. Healthy and happy is better than wealthy and sickly.
