Loving your videos, I’m about to lay my first patio this weekend, hopefully I’ve watched enough videos to make it look good to the wife 😂😂😂😂
Lol love it Kelvin mate I hope it goes well keep me posted
Hi JB when I had put down my mot type 1 and it rained I had some spots that was holding water (flat garden not on a hill) I dug up the spots that was holding water and it was clay in those spots but the rest of the soil was sandy and drained ok I am only an amateur working on my own 10metre by 10metre garden so feeling my way as I go couldn't afford the landscaper ( much as I would like to) That looks a great project
Look Harry give us a call mate some time
Top work John! Miss these types of videos from you. Please make more...😁
I am back on then Peter now at last, thanks mate
Thanks for video. Lots of good information
Cheers Dave mate thats kind of you
Nice work JB, will be a banger once it’s complete.
Thanks Paul I hope so
Looking forward to seeing the final result 😊
Enjoy watching your videos and detail content. I’m wondering how you work out how much material you need to make your mixes and what coverage it gives you?
Happy to talk Paul it’s just to much to message lol
Hi, great videos, I’m all prepped with sub base and ready to lay porcelain tiles. Going to use semi dry mix but think of using 4:1. Take it these semi dry mixes don’t need plasticiser and sbr in the mix when mixing with shovel? Cheers
Give me a call Paul sometime before you start my number is 07795595994
Great video JB 👍🏻🧱🧱
Thanks mate
New system Jonny time will tell fingers crossed 😊
JB, love your videos and laid our front and back patios based on all your guidance. I’m going to do a relatives patio around their garage and green house to match the patio laid at the back of their house which is 600x600 38mm utility flags rather than natural stone which I’m used to. Watching your recent vids I’m going to try a semi dry mix this time (I found getting the mortar consistency right was quite hard as a DIYer and made a lot of mess). My question is, is there any harm in mixing the semi dry mix then screeding it as you would do with block paving? Just enough for 4 or 5 flags at a time rather than the entire area. Seems to me it would save me a lot of time (you make the mortar bed prep look effortless but i reckon it takes me 15-30 mins per flag with a wet mix!)
Hi Tim, many thanks for your message it is really appreciated. It seems that your efforts are paying off my friend keep up the good work.
I agree screed like block paving, it will work but make sure you compress your screed Sir.
Any problems just call me.
Regards JB
@@GreentopLandscapes thanks JB really appreciate the advice there! Quality videos mate 👌
Going to lay a small 4 x 3 mt patio using honed sandstone slabs and currently going through some of your videos, I like the idea of the semi dry mix, is it just 5-1 sand cement and water to dampen it up or do you add sbr etc to it. Also would it be better to just wet/dampen the sand first then mix in the cement? Thanks for the videos its helps a non professional like myself.
Give us a call mate
Good morning Johnny, would you be able to advise me please. How long do I need to wait to mortar after the PQC is down?
Also, a small part of the PQC was wetter than expected, it this cause for concern?
I'll add SBR and Feb to the mortar mix, have put the pqc down yesterday and hoped to lay at the weekend.
Thanks again
07795595994give me a call later mate
Thanks I will much appreciated.
Is it possible to lay a porcelain patio on top of pre existing patio (pre existing patio is sound and secure) if so what thickness of build up is required?
Its possible but just depends on the heights
Good morning mate
Hope you have a blessed week
You to amigo
Hi Johhny. Hope this finds you. Its been some time I contacted and had an unsuccessful attempt at a phone call. Design (and subsequent additional work) has delayed the porcelaine slab laying till now. I thought I had a pro contractor to do the needed mitre cuts but I'm fed up chasing him and hearing excuses so decided I'll take it on myself. Question:- Speedy Tool Hire hire out an IMER 250 Combi saw. Any experience of this tool as staff at the local depot are clueless? The mitres are being cut from a 900 X 600 Pavestone slab . Any advice ( like lining up, clamping in place would be welcome) Cheers Gordon

Do you not need to put a geo tec membrane under that type 1
Just depends what the ground is like
What’s your ratio of sharp sand to cement please ?
5:1 Alan
Great video Johnny boy - love your work. Have you had any call-backs in the past with the dry mix? Any issues with delamination?
Hi John mate, thanks for watching and your feedback, it’s not that dry really it’s just moist enough for the cement to do the magic
Great video as ever John. What sort of ratio of sharp & cement do you use for that dry(ish) mix?
6:1 Simon mate but it still needs to be moist mate, not to dry.
Another great video mate! Do you have a video on how to make the perfect semi dry mix you make here?
Hi Charles mate i will have a look
Hey John iv grouted my patio today with an easy brush in grout, it came in a 15kg bag iv used less than half will it store for another job. Thanks for your help mate iv done so many projects watching you
Wayne mate thank you for your support Buddy
Great Video Johnny, love the music what tunes is it ? Hopefully when i have my own patio done ill be chilling listening
Would also be interested in seeing how u lifted the 1 slab laid incorrectly, is it difficult, can you re prime amd re use ?
The footpath at side of house did you break that out with digger or just lay porcelain over the footpath ?
Did you like it Jac
A lot the 1200mm tiles finding some manufacturing talasey were 1 to mind had like worpiny in the tile real pain in the ass. Window packers best for spacers snap them in half the Rubi 1,s a used in past they flex nae good when pushing in packer is solid. Can even use a whole 1 to slide about the surface ie the edges to make sure no lipping. Tremendous work Johnny boy. 3lbs rubber mallet 😜 bed has nae void will never break how much you hit. As always only reason paving breaks is down to the bed not being full.🤟
As usual mate always a educated response that helps us all, thank you.
You want to water your primer down a bit and use a roller. It will go twice as farr and the adhesion will be as good.
Paul mate I like it thicker so it sticks better but great point mate thanks
Hi Johnny great video as always just a quick question how long would a job like this take you guys ? Hope im not being rude just curious as i do landscaping as well but nothing like what you do as your way better than me 👍
Hi mate
Great video Johnny boy. Can you use a semi dry mix on a concrete base with porcelain?
Warren mate you would need to slurry the concrete mate
