Loving your videos, I’m about to lay my first patio this weekend, hopefully I’ve watched enough videos to make it look good to the wife 😂😂😂😂

Hi JB when I had put down my mot type 1 and it rained I had some spots that was holding water (flat garden not on a hill) I dug up the spots that was holding water and it was clay in those spots but the rest of the soil was sandy and drained ok I am only an amateur working on my own 10metre by 10metre garden so feeling my way as I go couldn't afford the landscaper ( much as I would like to) That looks a great project

Enjoy watching your videos and detail content. I’m wondering how you work out how much material you need to make your mixes and what coverage it gives you?

Hi, great videos, I’m all prepped with sub base and ready to lay porcelain tiles. Going to use semi dry mix but think of using 4:1. Take it these semi dry mixes don’t need plasticiser and sbr in the mix when mixing with shovel? Cheers

JB, love your videos and laid our front and back patios based on all your guidance. I’m going to do a relatives patio around their garage and green house to match the patio laid at the back of their house which is 600x600 38mm utility flags rather than natural stone which I’m used to. Watching your recent vids I’m going to try a semi dry mix this time (I found getting the mortar consistency right was quite hard as a DIYer and made a lot of mess). My question is, is there any harm in mixing the semi dry mix then screeding it as you would do with block paving? Just enough for 4 or 5 flags at a time rather than the entire area. Seems to me it would save me a lot of time (you make the mortar bed prep look effortless but i reckon it takes me 15-30 mins per flag with a wet mix!)

Hi Tim, many thanks for your message it is really appreciated. It seems that your efforts are paying off my friend keep up the good work.
I agree screed like block paving, it will work but make sure you compress your screed Sir.
      Any problems just call me.
      Regards JB

Going to lay a small 4 x 3 mt patio using honed sandstone slabs and currently going through some of your videos, I like the idea of the semi dry mix, is it just 5-1 sand cement and water to dampen it up or do you add sbr etc to it. Also would it be better to just wet/dampen the sand first then mix in the cement? Thanks for the videos its helps a non professional like myself.

Good morning Johnny, would you be able to advise me please. How long do I need to wait to mortar after the PQC is down?
Also, a small part of the PQC was wetter than expected, it this cause for concern?
I'll add SBR and Feb to the mortar mix, have put the pqc down yesterday and hoped to lay at the weekend.
    Thanks again

Is it possible to lay a porcelain patio on top of pre existing patio (pre existing patio is sound and secure) if so what thickness of build up is required?

Hi Johhny. Hope this finds you. Its been some time I contacted and had an unsuccessful attempt at a phone call. Design (and subsequent additional work) has delayed the porcelaine slab laying till now. I thought I had a pro contractor to do the needed mitre cuts but I'm fed up chasing him and hearing excuses so decided I'll take it on myself. Question:- Speedy Tool Hire hire out an IMER 250 Combi saw. Any experience of this tool as staff at the local depot are clueless? The mitres are being cut from a 900 X 600 Pavestone slab . Any advice ( like lining up, clamping in place would be welcome) Cheers Gordon

A lot the 1200mm tiles finding some manufacturing talasey were 1 to mind had like worpiny in the tile real pain in the ass. Window packers best for spacers snap them in half the Rubi 1,s a used in past they flex nae good when pushing in packer is solid. Can even use a whole 1 to slide about the surface ie the edges to make sure no lipping. Tremendous work Johnny boy. 3lbs rubber mallet 😜 bed has nae void will never break how much you hit. As always only reason paving breaks is down to the bed not being full.🤟

You want to water your primer down a bit and use a roller. It will go twice as farr and the adhesion will be as good.
