Long running fued in our house as I'm from the South West and the mrs is from Yorkshire, brad mentioned a tip top please get him to explain what it is on a video (or indeed show us) it would help settle a long running argument 🤣. Great job as always Justin 💯👍🏼
Great video. Watching a few of these as I'm planning on laying a porcelain patio next year, I'm currently doing all the prep now. One question I keep coming back to is how you work the spirit level in line with any planned fall?? The line against that house looks almost dead level, I've been working on the assumption a fall should be about 1:80?

Best video of yours I've seen. Really nailed down my understanding of the string lines. I think the only thing I'm missing is an up close and personal view from the perspective of laying a slab, and seeing the little lips with my own eyes, and seeing it above the string line, then getting knocked down gently perfectly in line with the string. Is that something you think you can sort out in a future video if possible please buddy? (Sorry to be cheeky haha)
Top tip for you get two straight lengths of timber even scaffold board and lay one away from house each end of job on bed of mortar to required level and fall and beat couple of bits of rebar in front of them then mark your slabs to guage on timber now use line blocks to hook over end of boards to pull line tight as you like now you have got paving profiles and stops all that pissing about 👍
Those slabs look fantastic, guys. That's a fairly labour intensive job all in all! I had a slabbing job myself today, but it was just the ugly grey 3'x2' "council slabs".....so nothing near as sexy as your job! 😂😂
Jim u still have to lay em and get em right no matter what the slabs are but its nice to use nice materials isnt it mate. Thanks for your post awra best jim Justin 👍

HI Justin - Just watching this video to see how string lines and levels are set. Another brilliant video and priceless info so thank you. I've got a question if that's ok. I hanging on every word and action 🙂 At the 06:00 mark in your video you have your first row half layed. There seems to be a half tile gap under the patio doors where you have a full tile layed on wet mix to the left. Then further to the left you have your dead mans tile. Then at 12:30 mark you have a full tile in place of the half tile. Did you lift the half tile back up and was it just another dead mans tile? Many Thanks Andy

Thanks for the tips - found it useful. I'm laying a 25metre straight porcelain path. Do you have any advice how to use a string line over that distance where the level drops by 20 cm over that distance? How do I avoid the line sagging? Basically have to link a patio on a sloping garden to be below dpm of a garage without steps and trying avoid being too high. Any advice appreciated. Cheers
