    I heard there was
    A secret chord
    That David played
    And it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
    It goes like this
    The fourth
    The fifth,
    The minor fall,
    The major lift
    The baffled king
    Composing Hallelujah
    Hallelujah......
    Hallelujah......
    Hallelujah......
    Hallelu.... ú u ù.... lu.....jah
Well, your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to the kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips, she drew the Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Well baby, I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
    And love…

      @alexanderholthoer8972 3 года назад +1

@@_etyn Yes it did. I was accepted :)
Strange things happened then: I always thought I was a low baritone, but they started training me to be a tenor (!). I progressed fast and my upper range jumped 4 1/2 full notes to B. Mostly classical stuff. So far so good.
After a year I began to struggle and my voice locked up and I tired very easily. It turned out that my thyroid gland had given up and was causing structural problems. It took me another year trying to sort this out and getting my medication balanced. By then I got a heap of new problems....and had to leave the institute :(

When Leonard Cohen was asked why he thought this song was so successful he replied, "Because it has such a great chorus." It has been reported that the song originally had 80 verses. I've heard seven of them.

Love your approach to this wonderful and amazing song.
Cohn was so brilliant. I'm personally a Christian, and it can mean something to me, and something else to a Jewish person, and even something emotion to an atheist. There's no right or wrong......it's simplY your own story told in a very brilliant way. Don't over analyze....or criticize another for wha t it means to them.
Finally...you have a beautiful way of expressing this beautiful song.

Adding context to content. Some are born with this gift. This video describes how to achieve it. It's what singers would say "feeling" the music. Empaths make great performers.

    [Verse 1]
Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
    The baffled king composing "Hallelujah"
    [Chorus]
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    [Verse 2]
Your faith was strong, but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
    [Chorus]
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    [Verse 3]
You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well, really, what's it to ya?
There's a blaze of light in every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah
    [Chorus]
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    [Verse 4]
I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool ya
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the lord of song
With nothing on my tongue but hallelujah
    [Chorus]
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    [Outro]
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    [Additional Lyrics]
    Baby, I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
    It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
    [Additional Lyrics]
There was a time you let me know
    What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
    [Additional Lyrics]
    Maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
    It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Someone described themselves as "smitten" by your teaching. I was searching for the best word to describe my feelings about your approach and smitten works for me. I was searching for information about the semantics of this song and, although you were not directly addressing this, your presentation about the singing of the song has helped me considerably. I don't sing hardly at all because I suck at it. But after listening to you, I actually feel like I could learn to suck less. I'm very grateful that I discovered you!

Hi Freya! I am so glad to have found your channel!
I am a beginner at singing publicly, and this video really helps me. I like how you teach and give the example right after. You have a very nice voice. I tried learning from a male coach, but I think it's better for me to learn from a female coach. I look forward to your next videos. Thank you very much!

My friend is a pianist and she would be fudging around on the piano all the time. One time she started playing this song and we began to sing along. After a few years of doing that we did karaoke in my living room and everyone took it like it was a show haha.
