    I just saw this video for the first time. This came to me from common sense yesterday on the course. I used my 6 iron more than I ever have and shot 98. This video for any armature golfer should be a "Must See". My very best shot in golf is with my pitching wedge from 80/100 yards. I continually left myself in that area, from my second shot, and scored 3 pars and several bogies. This common sense method is essential to any armature golfer.

    I searched “how to break 120” and saw your videos. Just starting out and having a great time. Very helpful video, I’ve tried lately to play conservatively to avoid trouble. Bought your app so I can practice with the videos at the driving range and chip area (whatever that is called). Thank you!

      Hi Lisa. Great to hear that you are enjoying golf. I would say that 'Chip Area' is good enough a name.Cerainly works for me.
      If you are looking of a more specific learning programme at your level then I have just launched my 'Keep Golf Simple and Break 100' course which is a step by step guide www.golfcoach.online/Break-100-Course
      Good luck

    I like your approach. For someone trying to break 100, course strategy is everything.

    The very first sentence is the key , you can strategise all you like but if you can’t hit the ball straight with reasonable contact on a relatively consistent basis, you may have the odd good day but generally you are going to be crap

    Good advice and a great video. Unfortunately I can only hit a 6 iron 110 yards but your advice should still be good. I will have a go next time I go.

      Thanks for the kind comment. I think this video appeals to every golfer on some level but especially if you are not a long hitter. The temptation to hit your driver everywhere should be weighed up against the strategy in the video. There is no one answer but good to know the options.

    Great Video, it's a shame I didn't find it earlier. I will go through your channel to see more of those - especially Course strategy is under-representated on RUclips...

      Many thanks. This is definitely the easiest way to improve your scores. Here is the same 5 holes played under par with a full range of shots and a Pro strategy

      There is also a 'Break 100 Course' about to be published in the coming week.

      Shot 52 on 9 :( I use a 60 degree wedge alot. I've heard a lot of opinions saying high handicaps should remove it. What's your opinion?

    • @GolfCoachDrNoel
      @GolfCoachDrNoel  5 лет назад

      @@Fjearnest, It depends how good you are with it. I would always choose less loft if possible. In my experience, high hcp golfers overuse the lob wedge and its very nature means that it is difficult to strike, difficult to control distance and extremely unforgiving if it is at all mis-struck. That said, some scenarios demand the lob wedge.

    Would like to have seen topped shots, fat chips, one or 2 big drives, 42 to 43 putts(6 x3 putts) leaving first shot in bunkers,big slices, odd over top hit left, thin pitch with 60 deg wedge plus a few (dare I say it) shanks.
    This would make the video more relatable to players who are trying to break 100

      Thanks for the comment. I will have a go at that. It's going to be a long the same ideas of strategy but you will need longer tee shots. Not necessarily a driver every time but a strategic approach to which holes warrant the big sticks.

      Essentially, find a club you can hit 180+ with good consistency. Mine is my 3 wood. Get that nailed and use the principles here and you should do well.

    thanks for this video. gonna take into consideration this saturday. what club did you play for those close to the pin chip shots?

    • @GolfCoachDrNoel
      @GolfCoachDrNoel  5 лет назад +2

      The running chip shots were played with a 4 rescue but any hybrid would work. It's a great option to add to your short game.

    Good advice but talking as a high handicapper and looking at that course your playing. Most High Handicap players will have poor contact and do not all ways get the ball going in the direction they aim for. playing the ball downhill or uphill on different lies can be an issue.

      I get your point. Even more reason to not take on too much.

    I cannot understand how a golfer who wants to break a hundred would need to hit straight shots, most high handicappers cannot period! 28 shots to break a hundred so recovery is the key. Also to hit a long chip shot to 10 feet for a high handicapper has to be ok but just not exceptional! Your strategy tips are good but your expectations seem more for a mid handicapper.
