- This is my very first attempt in tackling the Star Wars franchise for my own personal Versus Series. Which will pit two of my favorite characters against each other to see who would win.

Yup, this went exactly how I expected. All Obi-Wan can do is last long enough in a lightsaber duel until Kun get's frustrated and blasts him away with his force power out of sheer annoyance.
I'm going to miss this style of Versus Series formatting. It's what inspired me to do my own series on Google Drive, and the way you analyze a character's tactics, skills, and physical abilities has helped me a lot.

*also to let you know dude, either style when you create your videos is great. To be Frank, I like both this style seeing the characteristics of each combatants and the simple and straightforward way of these videos. So great job on each styles*

I would agree with Kun taking the win though there is something I would like to point out. Kenobi has on a number of occasions found himself drawn to attack at bad times or against opponents that can simply bat away his assault and leave him vulnerable. In fact, pretty much every time you see Kenobi get ragdolled or otherwise smacked around or knocked down, it's because he's fallen prey to some kind of feint. Dooku in particular LOVED to do this to Kenobi. Exar Kun's lightsaber intensity function was specifically to utilize trakata feinting tactics and I believe that Kenobi might well in desperation fall prey to this and find himself dismembered as a result. It would also be fairly simple for Kun to deduce Kenobi's turtling approach and adjust as he wasn't some overly aggressive meathead as many of Kenobi's opponents had the misfortune of falling into.
Oh course, as you pointed out, if it got to the point of being a Force slugging match, Kun would dismantle Kenobi with relative ease.

Star Wars matches no I still have one more left for this season but when it comes to this style then yes. This is the very last time I will be doing it in this style.

Man I hope he sees it. Just a comment from him would be an honor, and I never said Windu couldn't penetrate Kun's barriers I said I believe only Sidious and Yoda could deal with everything Kun could throw at them force powers wise.

Ok let's unpack this.
I think Obi-Wan's physicality is undersold. Strength wise he's held up to Grievous and Anakin which is beyond the average for Council Level.
While I think Obi-Wan's TK power is stronger than covered I do agree that his Force wall is underrated. It says something that the only people shown to reliably penetrate it are people like Anakin and Dooku who by word of George Lucas are both Yoda level during ROTS.
It's for this reason that at the least would say Kun's Force advantage wouldn't be as decisive. In the ROTS novel it's made note of how it cost Dooku a lot out of his Force reserves to send Kenobi across the room and it took Anakin who by word of George Lucas and Nick Gillard is > Yoda which is also stated in the novel.
Agree on the sabers analysis on Kenobi for the most part save for his usage of Soresu in AOTC being average. Nick Gillard ranked AOTC Kenobi as a tier 7 in the system he and Lucas use which is higher than most Jedi by far.
I'd say Kenobi's skill in Jar'Kai is valid as with Niman it means he'd be familiar with Exar's staff.
For the sabers edge due to the reasons I just listed I think the fight would come down to sabers only. The thing about Kenobi is that when he's defending he's also actively using counters as shown against Grievous and Anakin. I think that in this department Kenobi would take a majority due to him forcing the engagement to be by the blade.
I don't agree with the Forcecast's Kenobi VS Plagueis but I feel like the sabers edge in that video would reflect the one here.
Overall a well made video but I'd personally side with Kenobi.
This was a great response probably one of the best I've had for one of these video and some time. I'd like to throw a few left out points to share some extra thoughts.
#1 I think in a purely one on one duel against Dooku I think it is because of his superior use of the force that Kenobi would probably still lose. Thoughout the period of the clone wars Kenobi never faced Dooku alone and always had Anakin there to back him up. So while Kenobi could deal with Dooku's form 2 once the force was added into the fight Kenobi would be knocked out (just like ROTS) and be left to be finished off.
#2 It would be impossible for Kenobi to be familiar with Exar Kun's saber staff because its the only one of his its kind and when you break it down it really it the most technologically sophisticated lightsaber in star wars. There along with how he choose to fight with it which is vastly different from someone like ventress or maul. This was a big factor to why Exar was able to kill his master who trained him.
#3 Kenobi has never trully won a first time duel against a new opponent and usually need a couple of engagements first so he knows what he's walking into. The duel of fates was really won by maul until he got cocky and let his guard down if he had stayed focused like he normally is and just finished kenobi when he was hanging instead of toy with him he would've won. He was easily defeated by Dooku the first time. I don't believe he beat ventures the first time or Savage or Grevious and if Kenobi had not had all those sparing matches with Anakin over the years, had Kenobi gone into a fight against Anakin for the first time there is no question in my mind he would've lost. The only opponent who comes to mind that Kenobi has beaten in a one time only fight was A'sharad Hett but since they both operated during the clone wars Kenobi at least would've known about him. Exar Kun would be a complete mystery to Kenobi since the old sith ways were never spoken much during that time even amounts the masters.
But I respect your opinion and thank you for watching my content.

I would argue that Kenobi isn’t prepared for Kun’s kind of Saberstaff. Maul’s style is different then Kuns because of he length Kun’s saber hilt.

Exar Kun wins in a good fight. Kun is more powerful force user. Obi Wan still put a good fight against him in lightsaber duel.

I feel it is unfair to say obi wan was a weak jedi! To me he is as powerful or more than others on the jedi counsel! I mean it's not just luck by itself that he was one of the only jedi left! He is impressive in everything he did and lived through! I think he is my second favorite jedi or sith! And i thinl he doesn't get the props he deserves! My favorite will always be anakin/vader! I am looking forward to learning about exar kun which is why i am watching this video which so far is great!
Obi-Wan Kenobi is not weak by any means. Physically he is alot tougher than Exar and lightsaber combatant he would be able to successfully stonewall Exar's unique style of combat. Where I believe Kenobi falls short is that he simply will not be hold he own once Exar started using his more advance force powers. When it comes to offensive force powers Kenobi has been shown to experience serious trouble with examples being Count Dooku and a VERY pissed off Maul being able to penetrated his force shield. Exar powers wise with the addition of sith amulet gain a power amplifier for his powers which I believe would grant him a clear advantage and then take into account that Kenobi has never performed well against combatant that his is facing for the first time. Put him against Exar 10 times and he might squeeze out a couple victories but in a fight where he only gets one chance I just dont think Kenobi would make it. He would put up an impressive fight but he would lose.
Oh joy my most favorite Jedi of all time losing to my most HATED sith of all time. Still in a late fight with incorporating force abilities I unfortunately see kun winning.

Anyway, I definitely agree with the verdict and still think this is as well-researched and narrated as anything the Forcecast, Rico Chico Malico, and SciFi Soup have put out. Hope there'll be more matchups in the future. I can offer ideas for some if you like.

Battle Royales are a bit out of my league.
I disagree with the idea that Exar Kun could make Obi-Wan Kenobi locked in an absolute defensive position. Obi-Wan Kenobi was able to stand against general grievous and still be able to get some counters in. General grievous was essentially a random number generator of all seven light saber forms with the speed of 20 strikes per second. If he can keep up with general grievous while still countering, I don’t see why he can’t counter Exar Kun.
General Grievous used 4 standard Lightsabers and his offensive was designed to overwhelm. Exar Kuns lightsaber is one of a kind and his style of fighting is designed to trick and confuse opponents. Obi Wans form 3 is primed to deal with straight forward offensive fighting forms and kenobi has plenty of experience against opponents like that. Kun was a one of a kind fighter there had been no one like him before or after him.
True. However, if Obi Wan can handle the speed and multi angular attack of grievous, the tactical staff work of Mail, the power of young Vader, and the elegance of Dooku, I don’t think he would be confused. Also, Grievous and Anakin showed that all he needs is one second to inflict devastating damage. I don’t think Kun will give that second on his own, but Kenobi is an actively passive fighter, leading his opponent into patterns and terrain that benefits him. Finally, if Kenobi can deactivate Anakin’s hand to create an opening without Anakin noticing, I don’t see why his ingeniously creative and subtle force tactics can’t trip Kun up.
@@dominiccassano1162 Maybe here is one factor that works against Kenobi. He's never won a first time engagement against any other force user and the ones he defeated he had extensive experience against them. Maul pretty much won the duel of fates had he not been cocky. Dooku beat him easily and he fought against Grievous numerous times over the clone wars so he more than anyone knew how to fight Grievous the right way. Anakin he not only trained but the two had hundreds of sparring matches giving Kenobi the advantage of know Anakin inside and out. Kenobi has history of not doing well against in first time engagements. Have Kenobi fight Exar 5 or 6 times I could see him getting use to him but when it come to Exar Kenobi only gets one shot and if Kun pulls out the force powers its game over.

I like your analysis but you overstate exar Kun telekinesis and understate kenobi, exar Kun is hesistant on using telekinetics and prefers with sorcery and an amulet, and his defenses are almost as bad as Kenobis , he would ragdoll kenobi because that’s not his style kenobis matched darth vader who is a stronger telekinetic than kun in a lock and sent powerful force waves that uprooted giant trees and blown up durge, id argue that kenobis telekinetics are slightly stronger than kuns, his feats of sorcery are impressive but they only happened with extensive preparation his amulet would pose a threat but that’s giving him an advantage by giving him an external weapon, while I have no doubt Kun is the superior force wielder, he does not use it in a conventianol way either
Ok first off I really appreciate the long comment I rarely get those and I like some of the points your brought up here are my response.
#1 When it comes to Tele-kinetics thou it is true that Kun is more of a sorceress you have to remember that because Kun is mainly a Niman practitioner the use of it in a convention way is one of the key elements of the form. So thou it is something that I do agree with you he doesn't do often I do believe that if were forced to or discovered in the case would be useful for him to do in order to win.
#2 To say Kenobi matched (pre-suit vader) and that pre-suit vader was stronger than kun is really off. You have to remember that with both of them being Jedi Guardians they spent more time developing their lightsaber skills rather than force powers. It true that Vader at that point had the highest force potential of any Jedi but he was no where near as powerful as he could've become. During that era only Sidious and Yoda and maybe Mace were the only one I believe that were more powerful than Kun even on his best day and Kenobi and pre-suit Vader are nowhere near as powerful as those three.
#3 Finally you have to remember that Kenobi has had a bad record against opponents that he is going into blind if you look at the majority of fights Kenobi has been in against other force users he usually always loses or is forced to retreat. Kenobi really did lose the duel of fate from a performance level and only defeated Maul because he got cocky (for the first time in his life) and left himself open. He lost to Dooku the first time, he didn't do well against Ventress the first time, he didn't didn't do well against Grevious the first time and if Kenobi had not had over a decade of time fighting alongside Anakin and went into the mustafa duel blind he would've been easily defeated. As a form 3 user his entire approach is designed to give Kenobi time to think and come up with a plan and this works best when he has already had experience against an opponent or knows what he is walking into. But if he goes into a fight blind as he would against Kun having no knowledge of what Kun is capable of then Kenobi's defensive mentally lacks the kind of aggressive approach needed to take down kun. Have Kenobi fight Kun 10 times then I could see him coming up with a plan to take on Kun but for 1 time only fight. Though Kenobi would do well I just can't see him winning in the end.

Kun wins without even being aware of Luke’s existence.

Essentially the same outcome.
RotJ Luke vs Exar Kun
Kun hits a small speed bump. He wins but Luke lasts a few seconds here.
DE Luke vs Exar Kun
Now things are getting real. I’ll give Kun the win here primarily because of how his spirit fought against him a year later and I believe Kun was weaker as a spirit.

Kun loses badly.

That's a closer fight but Kun would still win. Luke only defeated Exar Kuns spirit much later in his life with the help of his allies, students and the force spirit of Exar Kuns old Master Vass.
