      Plo Koon isn’t a force ghost. He couldn’t be. It was solely Yoda and Kenobi for the first time in millennia for a reason…. Qui-Gon taught them. That “power” was lost to history. Only few actually know about it at all. Plo Koon died before Qui-Gon even finished Yoda’s teaching it, Obi-Wan’s as well. They didn’t even know you COULD retain consciousness after death until just about a year before the end of the clone wars. More like 6 months.

    I love Plo-Koon. He's easy my favorite character in all of Star Wars. I always loved the Dorians as a species and Koon easily was a fascinating character that I wished the actual prequel trilogy delved more into. At least, the 08 Clone Wars series did him some justice.
    But yeah, I totally agree with you. Vader is an utter powerhouse. And while sharing a few points of striking similarities, Vader's proactive approach to cover his weaknesses more, plus the raw power/manipulation of the Force unfortunately is too much for Koon to handle.
    But I will say this. You are by far one of the most detailed RUclipsrs. It's really refreshing to see someone who pulls so much from a variety of sources, even if you have issues with them(especially with Plo-Koon, as I know quite a lot about him). So overall, good job.
    Many other RUclipsrs who do geek culture analysis on franchises should be more like you.

Luke got Abeloth retreating with her tail between the legs, even when the Lost Sith conspired against Luke and his son. He still defeated her. I think there's a big difference there. During the Clone Wars Anakin Skywalker faced Darth Tyranus as an equal on Tatooine, Naboo (twice), and Zygerria, before killing him on the Invisible Hand. Luke became the most powerful Force user in the Galaxy from when he defeated Darth Sidious in a duel, and remainder at the level even after he and Darth Kryat killed Abeloth.
      Logistically, I agree that Luke had beaten Abeloth on several occasions, but she only created more avatars and returned to the galaxy. defeating Abeloth and killing her are two different things. On the other hand, this note could be used to argue that Darth Sidious could defeat Abeloth in one of her avatar's, but could not kill her. In your earlier statement, did you mean kill Abeloth or simply defeat her when you state Darth Sidious could not survive an encounter with her?

Like Anakin, Dooku, Luke and Sidious, they have also shown the ability to negate force drain. People have tried to say the force drain is different to what the dark reaper does, but no source says it is any different, so really that is just guessing. But seeing as Nihilus isn't particularly impressive in anything else, well lifting his ship was done on a planet which is a force nexus. They would beat Nihilus.

Luke Skywalker against Darth Malgus or even Darth Maul. Count Dooku against Ulic Qel-Droma and maybe even handicap versus matches where two Jedi take on one Sith or two Sith take on one Jedi. I have a recommendation for your future videos. From your previous vader descriptions it was obvious to me that you would give vader the win. As a result i am no longer convinced that your "vs" videos are about fights with uncertain outcomes. Your fights seem to be more about HOW the fight would go as opposed to WHO would win.
    Therefore i suggest that at the end of each fight you give a ratio of expected outcomes. E.G "vader beats koon 7/10 fights" This allows you to be more detailed about the HOW, which seems to be your main focus.

      Force lightning is not some end all be all. Do you really think the guy that knows how to handle a lightsaber better than anyone else in Star Wars doesn’t know how to BLOCK. Like we’ve literally seen him block more powerful force users’ lightning attacks multiple times before. Like Dooku’s. Yeah he wasn’t in a cybernetic suit yet of course, but he still used his lightsaber to do that more than once. He’d do the same thing to Plo. That’s why anyone that thinks Sidious would dogwalk him is an idiot. It solely depends on whether or not Sidious could slip a blast by him, catch him off guard. If he could, game over; if NOT, Vader kills him.

    • @Blueballthornton
      @Blueballthornton 10 лет назад +2

      Anakin Skywalker
      Lightsaber Training:
      Both Form V variants "Shien and Djem So" became the favored fighting styles of Anakin Skywalker as a Jedi, because their aggressive and strength-oriented fighting methods fit well with his arrogant, confrontational personality type. He also studied Form VI "Niman" to develop his skills with dual-blades. During his first confrontation with Dooku he was forced to draw heavily on his Force-abilities to match Dooku's speed and precision, tiring quickly. Dooku's far more energy efficient Makashi style won the day, and Skywalker lost his arm when he opened himself up. The aggressive Form V encourages practitioners to actively attempt to dominate their foes, and as the war progressed, Skywalker drew on his anger and rage with mounting frequently, sliding ever closer to the dark side of the Force. When confronting Dooku for the last time, Skywalker relied heavily on these emotions to fuel his offense, demonstrating both overwhelming strength and bewildering speed as he bashed through Dooku's precision defense and sliced off both of the Count's hands before brutally executing him.
      When Anakin Skywalker embraced the dark side and was rechristened Darth Vader, he maintained his Form V mastery, but utilized it in an even more brutal fashion, becoming a frightening opponent. However, his aggression became his fatal flaw, as he would become so controlled by it that it fucked with his judgement. During his battle with Obi-Wan on Mustafar, Kenobi, similar to his final duel with General Grievous, would utilize his "wait them out" philosophy, relying entirely on the defensive and energy-conservative moves of soresu until the opponent became frustrated or fatigued, causing them to leave sloppy openings in their offense that Kenobi could then exploit. Vader's frustration and arrogance eventually caused him to make a tactically fatal decision, and resulted in his defeat and severe mutilation.
      Force Abilites:
      The fact that Skywalker was born with the highest known midi-chlorian count in galactic history and was considered to be the Chosen One leads to various conclusions about his Force potential and power. Although extremely young and having less than perfect training (due to his late age joining the Order), Skywalker was one of the most powerful living Jedi. However, Anakin's focus was given more towards improving his lightsaber skills than his Force abilities. As such, while Anakin's raw power was immense, his knowledge of the Force was limited to fairly straightforward techniques.
      Skywalker was skilled in the use of telekinesis able to lift heavy objects with minimal effort. During his duel with Asajj Ventress on Yavin 4, he easily deflected a large pillar back at Ventress when she hurled it at him and immediately afterwards he used the Force to block her Force Push without even slowing down. He was also skilled at Force Jump, and was able to leap massive distances. Skywalker was also capable of a powerful Force Push;[52] however, it should be noted that despite having a stronger connection to the Force than Obi-Wan Kenobi, his Force Push was unable to overcome Kenobi's during their duel on Mustafar.[10] He was also skilled at Jedi Mind Tricks.[234] However, Skywalker also developed a habit of using the Force Choke power, a sign of who and what he would later become. Skywalker was also proficient in the use of Force speed, able to use it to increase the efficiency of his lightsaber skills.[86] Anakin also had an affinity for the use of Force visions, such as when he predicted the deaths of his mother and wife.[10][11] He also possessed a keen Force sense, such as when he sensed the assassination attempt on his future wife. During the Zillo Beast incident, Anakin was able to conjure a Force barrier with the assistance of Yoda and Aayla Secura. During the Battle of Mon Calamari, Anakin was able to use the Force to rip apart the support bindings of the planetary scanner, toppling the building over.
      Chosen Weapon:
      As per Form V weapon specifications, the lightsaber had a solid casing and a heavily shrouded blade emitter. The beveled emitter was designed to designate separate facets of the blade for either offensive or defensive purposes. The lightsaber hilt included a ridged hand grip, as Djem So required its users to maintain a solid grip on the hilt. It was also later modified to allow it to operate underwater. The focusing lense was a blue adaegan crystal.

      @Blueballthornton 10 лет назад +3

      Darth Vader
      Lightaber Training:
      Initially after gaining the suit, Vader was forced to rely on his newly enhanced strength and reach, utilizing a clumsy method that was comprised of little more than stiffly executed vertical strikes that served to wear down his opponent. This initial method was seen to elements of Soresu and Ataru bladework in conjunction with his clumsy Djem So strikes. However, Vader was able to overcome this limitation fairly quickly, developing a refined version of Djem So that continued to include Ataru and Soresu elements, but also added Makashi and Juyo to the mix. In fact, by the time of his first visit to Kashyyyk, Vader had incorporated aspects of all combat forms into his fighting style - even the highest and most dangerous ones.
      Rather than attempting to fight through the bulky and heavy armor, Vader fought with it, utilizing the armor's weight and his powerful prosthetics to provide his blows with incredible force, while relying on the main articulation points at the elbows and wrists for precision.With this new form, Vader regained some of his old agility, and his bladework became brutally effective. He never utilized anything less than a killing blow, and his swordplay demonstrated extraordinary precision, unpredictability, and speed, notwithstanding the two-handed grip he typically favored. Even his most simplistic moves contained enough strength to nearly disarm his opponents. The additional weight and bulk of Vader's cybernetics and armor made engaging in Ataru-esque acrobatics considerably more difficult than it had been, and he typically refrained from making use of such maneuvers. He was however, still fully capable of performing such acrobatics when pressed.
      Vader proved able to apply this personalized variant in many ways, sometimes opting to fight one-handed, relying on precision and economy of movement, but thanks to the added strength his prosthetics afforded him, he maintained a great deal of power. When forced onto the defensive, Vader would fight with a two-handed grip, elbows pressed tightly to his sides with the blade held straight out in front of him, manipulating it deftly with his wrists only. This method proved effective for protecting his vulnerable chest mounted control panel, but, at least in his early applications of it, it was not as effective at protecting his limbs.Vader apparently learned his lesson from his duel with Kenobi, learning how to control his emotions when in combat and finding a way to call upon calculated bursts of the dark side while not being blinded by emotions running amok, fighting with determination and relentlessness rather than rage.
      Force Abilites:
      Because his body had been severely burned on Mustafar, Darth Vader was thought to have lost much of his Force potential, although he nonetheless retained an incredibly high midi-chlorian count. Darth Vader made extensive use of both the Force Choke and Force Crush abilities.The Dark Lord also possessed skill in the use of Tutaminis, such as when he absorbed several blaster bolts from Han Solo's blaster on Bespin. He was also capable of using Force deflection to redirect blaster bolts, sometimes even at whomever fired them.It should be noted that Darth Vader, despite being a powerful Sith Lord, was rarely seen generating Force lightning. This was due to the extensive presence of cybernetic augmentations in his body as well as the presence of the electronic life-support system in his suit. Any attempt by Vader to generate Force Lightning carried the great risk of causing these systems to short-circuit, possibly to deadly effect. To Compensate for this Vader used an ability known as Kinetite. It involved molding "Force energized lightning" into a sphere of restrained kinetic energy which could be thrown at an enemy. Instead of burning or electrocuting it's target like most forms of Force lightning, it acted as a solid projectile. However he only used this abilty once and was in close proximity to the Kaiburr crystal (a force augmented artifact).
      Chosen weapon:
      Darth Vader's Lightsaber, simply put is a power tool. Following a heavy duty design typical of Form V specialists, it featured a thick, ridged handgrip, a throttle style activator, forward mounted adjustment knobs, and a beveled emitter shroud. Mechanically it utilized a high-output diatium power cell and a red-hued synthetic crystal as the focusing lense.
      The ironic thing about this weapon is that at first Darth Vader used Palpatines lightsaber as the model for the lightsaber Vader was trying to build. However, Vader considered his master's weapon to be an antique, and sought to create a more personalized weapon with more ballast. Wishing to impress Palpatine, Vader attempted to create a novel design, but the resulting weapon was little more than a black-alloy version of his first Jedi lightsaber. Due to the size of his mechanical hands, Vader was forced to make the grip considerably thicker and longer than his original lightsaber.Being a patron of the arts, Palpatine designed an elegant weapon with a high level of craftsmanship, clearly influenced by the Sith Lord's love of antiquity. The body of the lightsaber was fashioned from nigh-indestructible phrik alloy while the flat emitter was composed of aurodium.The whole of the weapon possessed a refined and elegant electrum finish resulting in a beautiful and almost golden in appearence. So what began as an attempt to surpass the designs of a beautiful display of craftsmanship resulted in a weapon so inelegant it verged on ungainly.

      While there is little doubt that Anakin is a very well rounded fighter, he is still very arrogant and has trouble planning ahead as shown because he always cuts loose at a moments notice. Also, even though Anakin had the highest known midi-chlorian count making his sensitivity to the force incredable, he never delved deeper into his abilites making his knowleadge of the force painfully straitforward. If he had devoted more of his time to studying his force abilites, Anakin Skywalker would have been the most powerful force sensitive in the universe.
      Darth Vader on the other hand was forced to rebuild his technique from the ground up after his mutilation, and as a result, his force abilites were almost on par with his skill as a lightsaber duelist. Yes, Vader will never have the magnitude he could have had, but he knows how to make what he does have count.

    I've been kind of interested about Quinlan Vos and how he holds up in a versus battle. He seems to have a impressive mish-mash skill set as a lightsaber duelist, mostly prominent during the Clone Wars (with a decent fight count against Dark Jedi to boot) while some of his force abilities that he is most known for (reading images from objects for example) aren't something that is useful in actual combat (though I admit I have been rusty on my knowledge of Prequel Era SW comics so Vos probably has more to the plate).
    ...I think Vos Vs Darth Maul would be interesting, as while Vos is a fast learner as a duelist, Maul has practically trained his entire life to be one of the best Sith duelist machine of his time.

    Hmmm... I wouldn't be so sure about this one. I think they are definitely equals as lightsaber duelists, but I dont think Vader has that much of an edge in force abilities, especially given Koons electric judgement. I think Koon would play this fight a lot more carefully than some people apparently think. He was one of the best tacticians in the order. Could Vader best Koon? Of course. But would it cost him his life? Probably. I don't think either of them are dumb enough to make this a battle to the death. I know that the point of these Versus Videos is to have a battle to the death, but I think in this case they would both know each others styles well and know that they were equals in lightsaber combat so they wouldn't waste theor energy on a long drawn out slugging match. I think Koon lets Vader think he has a massive edge in force abilities and then when Vader becomes a bit vulnerable Koon shoots some electric judgement Vaders way. This would definitely take Vader by surprise (There is no evidence Vader knows of Plos ability with this), and even if he defends against it, it would break Vaders concenration enough so that Koon could deal a decisive blow either with the lightsaber or with a series of force pushes and electric judgement incorportated into his lightsaber sequences. These characters are both tanks who could stay in the fight for the long haul if they wanted, but because of that ironically I think this fight would end up being a short one. Not because of Plos skills necessarily (Vader is a bit more powerful in my opinion), but because of Koons tactical prowess.

      Vader has tutaminis and is suit has electrical insulators to prevent lightning of Koon's level of getting anywhere. vader is too smart to overextend himself. I think it's more likely that Koon escapes (barely) and vader decides not to persue.

    Hey jensaarai,
    I have an interesting idea for your versus series. Instead of only do light saber duellists vs light saber duellists, do a shooter vs shooter. For example, have Jango Fett vs Boba Fett, father vs son deal. Or take a clone/bounty hunter such as Commander Cody vs Bossk or IG-88. Or have a Jedi/Sith with a shooter, like your group versus, that would be awesome. Well you get the idea. I think this idea would be very interesting and a good change of pace and well I'm just curious on who would win in a shootout.

    Since you seem to have no aversion in continuing to use Vader in your videos, please do Vader vs. Bane, or at least give me a reason why you won't do that match-up. I've suggested it on most of your recent videos, and you don't have an impossibly high amount of comments on your videos, so I'd be surprised if you never saw any of my Bane vs. Vader suggestions.
    Plus, I'm pretty sure you'd be the first to do a proper versus video including Darth Bane. If not Bane vs. Vader, just please include Bane in a versus video with an opponent you see fit.

      ***** In my opinion Exar Kun would be better opponent for Darth Bane

    • @TinyTorah
      @TinyTorah 10 лет назад +2

      *****
      In some ways, Exar Kun would definitely be the better opponent. The most obvious is that they were both the Dark Lord of the Sith in their respective eras, while Vader was not; he was always Sidious' apprentice technically.
      Though that's pretty much the main similarity between Bane and Kun that Vader and Bane don't also share.
      Vader and Bane actually have more in common. They both are the exact same height I believe, and along the same page, are physically intimidating; they both are some of the most preeminent Djem So practitioners of all the Sith; and they both have dealt with suits/armor that acted as both a blessing and a curse for them.
      Oh, by "better opponent," do you mean you think Vader's too powerful for Bane, or not powerful enough to reasonably go toe-to-toe with him?

    • @bensmith3876
      @bensmith3876 10 лет назад

      TinyTorah
      I think Bane is too powerfull for Vader. Even Jensaarai said in sobe comment that Bane is stronger then Vader. I don't see any sense to make duel where we already know who will win :)

    • @TinyTorah
      @TinyTorah 10 лет назад

      *****
      What are you basing these statements off of? Pretty sure it's all mere conjecture on your part.
      Bane lost to Zannah only because she used her OP dark side tendrils, which Bane never had any experience against, and still managed to almost kill her while she was using that technique. And in that duel, she had to RESORT to that. She was getting her ass beat by Bane. In an earlier "duel" between the two of them, Bane was unarmed, and Darth Zannah couldn't defeat him.
      And I wouldn't be so sure that Vader's the better duelist. In a duel with his master, Kas'im, who was considered by the Sith to be the best duelist of their era, and possibly the greatest ever, Bane was outdueling him, until Kas'im resorted to a variant of Ataru by splitting his double-bladed lightsaber into 2 separate lightsabers, which caught Bane off-guard since Kas'im kept this style secret from all his apprentices. And Bane continued to get better too. His duel with Kas'im was not even half-way through Bane's story.

While he was technically more skilled and more powerful than Kenobi in ROTS, he was too haughty, and fell to his own hubris. If this is the Anakin/Vader we'd pit against someone as experienced as Katarn, I don't think Anakin/Vader would stand a chance.

    The irony of this duel - a sith that is unable to use force lightning against a jedi that has "shocking" skills for one of the jedi order :)
    And coming to the end result - I believe they are actually equal - the same fighting skill, Vader has a better weapon while Plo Koon has (IMO) better physical feats and to force abilities - Vader is stronger while Plo Koon has better training and Electric Judgement that grants him also a few small points. And so I think that they would actually simply kill each other.

      DIGmusic7 bear in mind there are 10,000 Jedi knights operating at any one time. This means that even if you are in the top 100, which most members of the Jedi council would be, you’d be in the top 1%. Koon was at least top 20 of his time, probably more like top 10, meaning that though he wasn’t the absolute best duellist, he was without doubt one of the greatest of his era. Most of the characters that are used in verses series are of course ones which have been heavily featured, because those are the characters with enough info to form a set of statistics around. The most heavily featured Jedi are, for the most part, the most skilful Jedi, because those are the ones sent on the most interesting missions with the most interesting stories. You don’t hear much about your average rank-in-file Jedi Knight. This is why in so many versus videos the characters are described as ‘amongst the greatest whatever of his/her era’, simply because when compared to the sheer quantity of force users throughout the galaxy at any one time, they are indeed amongst best.

      His lightning isnt powerful enough to destroy it. Not just any force lightning can kill vader. Palpatine's did, but it is the most powerful force lightning ever.

    Great Vid, I believe the Majority of us knew who the victor would be, but a more detailed analysis is all ways appreciated.
    For your next one............may I suggest Quinlan Vos vs. Asajj Ventress at first Glance this fight may seem lopsided but after his missions throughout the Clone War and his training under Dooku as an acolyte Vos improved by a great margin, arguably enough to give ROTS Obi Wan Kenobi a good fight, which Asajj Ventress has already done multiple times so I really think that Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress would be a Closer fight than what many might think.

    • @wjb-wt6sc
      @wjb-wt6sc 10 лет назад

      ***** Ah I see, well I hope that once you get a few more VS. vids not involving Asajj Ventress you can revisit the topic and make yet another fine video.
      Then may I suggest................Dass Jennir vs. Aurra Sing, despite his modest claims of being an "Average" jedi in every aspect he has consistently proven himself to be a fairly "Above Average" jedi throughout his Journeys in "Dark Times" "Blue Harvest" "A Spark Remains" etc. whereas Aurra Sing's confirmed kills (Peerce, J'mikel, Sharad Hett) and confirmed defeats against various jedi (A'Sharad Hett, Aayla Secura, Jax Pavan etc.) has consistently placed her as a skilled but marginally "Above Average" duelist . Aurra Sing and Dass Jennir are also similar in how they show an obvious preference for Blasters when lightsabers do not prove feasible. I know that Dass Jennir does not have the exposure that Aurra Sing does and that perhaps many people on here would fail to recognize him, but he has proven to be among the most prolific EU Characters not associated with the main characters of the prequels, because of his unique story.
      This fight may strike you as unusual and possibly redundant, but its ultimately a fight between two opponents that are not insanely powerful and not ridiculously weak, and two opponents whose only REAL exposure stemmed from the EU, and two opponents that have two very different goals but ultimately add to the varied personages in the EU and the SW universe as a whole.

    22:26 But don't forget when Vader surpassed pre suit Vader he learned to adapt to his suit more he knew pretty much all forms of lightsaber combat through the three ring areas and he really seemed like he had a obsession with killing Jedi in the comics in a conversation with the emperor Darth Sidious. Also in Rogue one he deals with multiple rebel forces with blasters and it to him looked easy like almost opening a bottle with a bottle opener, battering one of them and like stabbing and cutting rebel soldiers like butter but far more easy and destroying them like the worthless trash they were to him, with badass efficiency.

    • @macree01
      @macree01 8 лет назад

      +Revanxxx1 I always just call him Dark Anakin. Really in terms of the story and metaphorically, Anakin makes his final and permanent plunge into darkness once he is put into the suit. Before that there was always a chance that he couldve been redeemed somehow. After the suit though, it would be all but impossible and even his son Luke would only barely accomplish this.

      yea Vader rarely unleashes his full power, so if koon can somehow make it too costly for vader to go all out, and i think he very well can, in combination with his superior agility and speed, his formidable lightsaber skills and his force abilities, then he has a greater chance f winning than vader does. i find this to be very similar to Phoenix Exalt's Obi Wan Kenobi vs Darth Vader. if Vader has no opportunity to unleash his full power, then koon will most likely win. he is a formidable lightsaber duelist and can contend with vader in the Force, plus, he is also more agile and faster than vader.

    Are you planning on doing Palpatine/Darth Sidious at all?

  • @macree01
    @macree01 8 лет назад

    Love the videos, Jensaarai , you and GreyJedi are my heroes. Quick question, I've always heard the stat that Vader was about 80% as powerful as Palpatine after his injuries on Mustafar, when he could've have easily grown to become twice as powerful had he not been injured. Still other sources sometimes make it feel like his power in the force could be either greater or lesser than that depending on what year the source was written. Even George Lucas stated in a ROTS featurette interview, that Vader "shouldnt be a great fighter, because at that point he was more machine than man" ... a statement that I find to be really at odds with how he was portrayed in the EU and even in his two fights with Luke in the movies. I guess my question is why all the contradictions? Furthermore, was it his actual force potential that was limited from the injuries? This is what I assumed since he lost a few limbs and ergo would probably lose a lot of tissue that was otherwise connected to the force.

He and Ahsoka Tano, Obi-wan and Yoda are my top 4 Fav Jedi. But, I might give the edge to Vader, too. Though, I have much more respect for Master Plo's general philosophy and approach to all things. Thanks again!!!
