Cal is good but Starkiller is too much for him. His feats, even in the novels which he's weaker in, outclassed anything Cal has done. The fact that he defeated Darth Vader who Cal had to RUN from is just the final nail in the coffin.
@@no-facejames7360 Galen defeated Vader mainly due to circumstance, not him being more powerful. Vader underestimated him, and didn’t really want to kill him. In their second fight, Vader WANTED to get captured, and let Starkiller win. Even in the books Starkiller would note Vader was fighting in a disinterested manner. In the second Book, Vader had Starkiller dead to rights 2 different times and chose not to kill him

While I dispute Kestis getting the edge as a lightsaber duelist, I do agree with your overall conclusions. Both combatants possess skillsets designed for punching above their own weight classes, and are generally most vulnerable against their own tactics, demonstrated in Marek's case in his battle with Maris Brood. Furthermore, both characters act as vehicles for wish fulfillment Force use, Marek allowing us to wreck havoc, while Kestis allows us to subvert through trickery.

I also agree, while Galen isn't a master of any of his 3 styles, he's developed them far above Cal's improvised Niman. The latter would still try to use Trakata and Jar'Kai to keep Starkiller at bay.

I really wish to see how he develops as a fighter after some years of training. He has a lot of potential.

Their styles were dependent on their respective game mechanics and Galen's force applications were designed as more of a spectacle whereas as Cal had to rely on certain force techniques to supplement his lightsaber combat in order to break his opponents defenses. He was barely fighting at Jedi level, and you glance over the healing factor that BD-1 provides mid-combat giving Cal more opportunities to make a critical strike on his opponents. The contradiction here is that Galen's Lightsaber techniques had more force augmentation, yet you're grading them solely on forms when we've already established that Galen is of a stronger build with cybernetic enhancements that give him more durability. You can't separate force powers from lightsaber combat, and not only was Galen's use of forms near master level but his force augmentation yielded greater performance. All you need for comparison are their performance against the troopers they faced. Galen faced far greater numbers at once and dispatched them far more easily. Cal begins to struggle when he has to face more than one squad, and that's based on cutscenes not just how well you played.
It's a real shame to see one of my favorite vs series come to an end, but what a high note to go out on. Glad to see my boy Galen get the respect he deserves without being portrayed as an overpowered force god. I wish you the best on your future endeavors

I’m not surprised, one was trained intensely by Darth Vader and the other hadn’t used his lightsaber in years. 1 stood up to Vader and the other ran in fear of him.
@@3TopicsReviewer but look at the force push power differences and the repulse Galen’s could disintegrate nearby storm troops and I feel like the speed and ferocity of Galen’s attack should have given him the edge there and I do agree that he is slightly op but cal could hold one stormtrooper at a time and galen could hold multiple and crush tie fighters I just feel cal would be overwhelmed in all combat categories and the difference in how they handled Vader says a lot to me but the video was awesome thank you so much for making this I’ve wanted to see a video like this since fallen order came out
@@jakesock58 their displays of power also are different because of how they fight. Cal isn't into killing, but offensively fighting as his defense. He fights to survive which is why he uses his abilities in the way he does. However, if they were to fight with the same intent, I do believe that cal would be more creative with what he possesses
Kal would give Starkiller a similar fight to proxy but with force abilities, with Kal switching through his lightsaber modes fluidly, and mixing up his attacks. Galen would appreciate the party tricks Kal’s doing and cannonball his ass across the map. Just look at their contests with Vader. I know that type of comparison falls flat because of how the various styles of each combatant interacts with each other, but for Galen, Vader was the final test of his life, a test he passed. For Kal, Vader was Death, a butcher. Scaling is stupid but not in this instance.

@@joshbowman9481 no. That isn't the question at all and is irrelevant. You directly stated to look at both their fights with vader as a comparison and basis for who would win. Cal's varied style and unique lightsaber allows him to contend with opponents far above his own level, even including galen. Galen has never fought an opponent like cal before. Cal's core technique isn't on the level of jedi master. It's how he utilized it that allows him to compete against foes far above his level. It was even stated in the video that cal was not on the level of shaak ti or vader, but that cal's unique style would give jedi and sith far above his level a challenge Galen isn't on their level either. Galen only won his fight against ti having to become creative with his force abilities, and his fight with vader had external factors and ulterior motives built in. Galen even noted that he could not defeat vader outright on the back of lightsaber combat and had to rely on his force abilities, and knowing that vader wanted him to surrender instead of killing him outright, used that knowledge to create an opening.

Honestly I'm a bit sad the series is ending, but I don't blame your reasoning. These videos were always a lot of fun, and your tidus vs cloud matchup is one of my favorite videos on RUclips, both because tidus is one of my favorite video game characters, and a fight between tidus and cloud seems a lot like how Yoda vs Vader would go.

Really great way to close out the series, Brian. I'm going to miss it, but it had a great run, and I'm glad to experience it. And I do agree with the verdict. Cal Kestis definitely had the right skill set to provide a challenge to Galen Marek, but sadly, it still just wasn't enough to squeeze out a victory.

If I were to explain the force ability difference between Cal and Galen it would be Magnitude. Let’s use Force repulse as the example ability here, both combatants can use this ability however the application and power behind it is vastly different between the two, further exemplified by Cal’s use of it when he uses Force repulse he slams the ground to generate a shockwave that knocks everyone around him to the ground but Galen’s generates a shockwave in every direction that not only knocks away targets but sends them flying killing most weaker foes. This difference is even more apparent by the fact of Galen’s Saber slam (I think that’s the name) technique where he does the same as Cal does with his Force Repulse but only utilizing Force push and it sends his opponents into the air which to me sounds more impressive than knocking them off their feet.
The only thing I have an issue with is Kal being able to block force lighting as it’s been stated and shown that specialised training is needed to be able to block force lighting with a lightsaber, combined with the fact just how Galen has never experienced Force stasis Kal has never come across force lighting and him having the misfortune of his first encounter with the ability being with the revolutionary of the skill quite possibly leading to him being stunned or thrown off guard.
I feel like cal could know how to block it cause he didn’t rlly have training or didn’t rlly know how to use the force until he was 17 but when he picked it up and all he had to do was believe in himself within a few months to a year he was able to almost defeat the 2nd sister and completely beat the 9th i feel like Jedi survivor cal is able to go toe to toe against the lighting cause cal’s best ability is knowing how wield a lightsaber extremely well as we’ve seen he’s master using double sided single and double hand using it in all variation without struggling so I think he would be able to tap in deeper to his force and have a tapped ability for it cause cal is a unique Jedi
Before watching this my opinion: Vader loses and nearly dies to Galen and later his clone Starkiller. Cal can’t even touch Vader and has to run to survive Vader. Thus quite easily I could see Galen winning not even mentioning the fact how insanely Galen’s endurance is compared to about anyone.
A lots such as who exactly ? Nah, he's growing in talent but he's not anywhere above TPM Kenobi.....yet. Jedi Survivor shows he might have improved drastically.
The thing is cal posses amazing light saber skill and they could go toe to toe if it’s the timeskip cal but star killer has a immense power of dark force and is incredibly agressive but cal has great versatility knowing how to double wield but the power they posses especially with how broken stark killer is breaking down empire almost all by himself it would be impossible for cal to win but I feel like we are underestimating him but as of now we have to see what Jedi survivor cal can do because a young cal with minimum experience picked up a light a saber and found barely half of his potential and ended defeating the sister but at the same time darth Vader almost shattered him and so we are gonna see what time skip Jedi suvivor cal has in bag for us cause
@@Suchmymimus No, Galen only mastered Soresu, Shien and Juyo. That said, he elevated them to a high degree. Cal, on the other hand (as of JFO, we'll see how Survivor will change things) is an improvised Niman practitioner.

@@Suchmymimus Because he is. Form 7 Juyo requires mastery of one or more lightsaber forms prior to learning it, which speaks highly of how developed Starkiller is. But I still wouldn't sell Cal so short. Niman can be just as hard as Juyo, even he's still unfocused as of JFO. Using Trakata to switch from single to double to dual sabers would catch Galen off guard. Cal would still lose, but he'd buy enough time to run away.
@@yrooxrksvi7142 The problem though is Starkiller has fought proxy as Darth Maul, has mastered saber combat and is much stronger in the force that Cal using 2 lightsabers would not catch him off guard. Also running away wouldn't work because he could just grab him with the force. He might be skilled as a Padawan but let's not pretend he can surprise a master who bested vader and matched palpatine.
This was an excellent breakdown of both characters, especially given you covered SW characters only once before. A few wonky pronounciations here and there aside, the way you covered their physicality, their fighting style and Force powers was absolutely nailed on the head. My personal take on Cal is that rather than learning directly Niman from Tapal and re-learning it as the game went on, he simply adapted and tried to put his master's teachings to use as he grew more confident. Rather than Makashi as you suggest at 25:00, I feel as though Cal still retained Shii Cho as it's consistent with his simplistic, wide sweeping slashes, and the clip you've presented falls more in line as an example of him applying Ataru. The others you listed are spot on however. It seems also that he did apply (at least on a instinctual level) Trakata, as he off-balanced Trilla on Bogano by switching off his blade suddenly, and the way he cycles through single, double saber and Jar'Kai also seems coherent with Trakata. Finally, I disagree only on giving Cal the edge in lightsaber skills. While he definetely has an edge by having a varied and unpredictable form that is just as personalized as Galen's, Cal never elevated it to such a degree to any of Galen's 3 styles. Starkiller is no master, but he is a trained assassin, while Cal had to re-develop quickly over a short period of time. Still, switching between elements of the first 4 forms, saberstaff, Jar'Kai or Trakata is enough for him contend with Galen at first, as you rightly pointed out. The fight narration was also the most plausible scenario, as Cal would exploit any opening to escape from Starkiller. Wish I discovered your channel earlier, man. Really excellent content. @@baki484 Hi again. Turns out Cal is becoming an aspiring Battlemaster in Jedi Survivor. Assuming his grasp on Niman has improved, his connection to the Force expanded and improved as well, and that now he can switch between single saber, Jar'Kai, saberstaff and crossguard saber (as a heavy broadsword of sorts), he's risen from a high tier 5 (on par with TPM Kenobi or TCW Ahsoka) to a tier 4 (Rebels Ahsoka or RoTJ Luke). Or he went from amateur Exar Kun wannabe to bordering Kao Cen Darach material. I hoped we would've gotten a lightsaber forms system similar to Ghost of Tsushima's stances, but whatever. I can't even play the game on anything right now and getting a PS5 or a high end PC is not in my current prospects.
Glad I could help. This is perhaps one of the best match ups personally I've done. From the outside it may seem like a stomp but once you really dig deep you will see that this would actually be a fight and thats all I wanted to prove with this match up.
I really liked how you did the fight Instead of starkiller just gutting cal Cere comes to assist and they escape which is there usual tactic However that brings up another question Cals gang may try to work as a unit in certain scenario's so What would happen if Cere, Cal, and marron worked as a unit on starkiller Cals odd saber work of switching between one blade , to saber staff, to duel wielding is confusing Ontop of that similar to Kyle katarn Cere when we see her in the final mission uses her pistol to throw off her opponent in combination of her saber And finally marron is a night sister with magic So all 3 of these oddities if applied in unison and at the right times might actually allow them to defeat starkiller or Escape If not that Also Vader was probably pissed starkiller failed
I don't know why, but I kind of see this battle almost like a wrestling match in the sense that each combatant would take the lead and be winning for a moment, only to be switched to the other. The problem I have with this fight is that we don't fully know or have the chance to see each Jedi at their full ability since they're still essentially in training. You can argue that deal in America from the Force unleashed one is a different character than part two, but the memories of the first starkiller were transplanted and the one in part two. Though you can consider them to be different people. The thing that sucks about the Force unleashed series is that it's an unfinished story, and I got a feeling that there would have been more development with the character that we never got a chance to see. I also have a feeling that Galen would have been a tie in some way shape or form to the a New Hope and leading to the destruction of the death Star because in part two Darth Vader is taking captive, and I got a feeling the gaining would have gone up against his sith clone that kills him if you take the dark side path. I haven't played phone order yet, so I can't make it accurate comparison, but in many ways I think the Galen is a more developed character in the sense of the fact of how he's sharpened his skills compared to Kal. But that's my take.
Good final match, expected Galen to win. My 1st few matches I saw from you were your Vergil vs Sephiroth, Cloud vs Tidus, and Cloud vs Zack. It was a different take on the versus matches and I really liked them. Even so, this was a good way to cap things off.

At an equivelant point in time, Gallen would have been able to pose a challenge for many of the old Sith Order, and if he had access to the same training as the Sith back then, he would possibly be more powerfull. But this is all just a hypothetical as, to my knoweledge, time travel in the Star Wars universe is impossible. If I am mistacken feel free to correct me.

Agreed. Cal's Niman is more of an improvised patchwork of other forms plus a gimmicky but unique lightsaber. Galen's Soresu/Shien/Juyo hybrid is much more developed and fluid, as he didn't stop training for half a decade like him.

#1 Galen did not pull down the Star Destroyer it was already coming down at him all he did was force the nose down to try and stop it from hitting him. #2 After this fight he would be abit too exhausted to attempt to pull down the Mantis. Even Galen has his limits.
Cal would hold his own for the first “round”. After that, starkiller would wipe the floor with him. Cal is a survivor. Cool. Starkillers only job was to find survivors and unsurvive them. His only “teacher” was one of the greatest duelists and jedi killers ever. He trained to go 100% at all times. Cal has some cool tricks but has never fought somebody that comes right out the gate on untra beast mode. Capping for cal…
I would respond to you by saying that I don't think you are giving Cal enough credit. There is no question that in prolong fight Galen not Starkiller would win. The point I am trying to bring up is does Cal have the capability to compete and in some case win against Galen and I do believe. I openly stated that if Cal had an aggressive combative approach he could absolutely win as his abilities and techniques that Galen has no experience against. The problem is Cal does not fight this way. If this was a 10 round fight rounds 1-3 would be Cals best chance to win but once the fight got to rounds 4-7 the fight would become more even with Galen gaining ground. If this fight got to rounds 8-10 it would not be a question of if Galen would win but how. Also there is not evidence that Galen can go Beast Mode at the the start of any fight neither the comic, novel or game confirm this. Galen is built for battles of attrition the longer the fight goes one the stronger he gets. All depictions of Galen show his most powerful force feats at the finish of the fights. Galen can not one shot any force user even weaker ones then himself. Galen knows that attempting to do this would just burn him out quickly. If opponent survives the opening outburst of power he will be left exposed and this is a lesson that Vader certainly would've have taught him. Now in closing I had considered on doing a rematch video using the most recent version of Cal against Force Unleashed 2 Starkiller (who is a different character than Galen Marek) but I think I should leave that for someone else.

Cal is great and all but Starkiller was trained by one of the best lightsaber duelists and most powerful force users ever. Despite being OP to begin with, his training would put him over the top alone.
Didn't go through all the comments to see if anyone had posted already that the weapons and equipment section was unfair because of the fact that Galen also uses two lightsabers in the sequel. I understand the match up but it should also include that information as well to make it more balanced.
This is Galen Marek not StarKiller. Galen uses 1 lightsaber, StarKiller uses two. Thou StarKiller is a perfect clone there are some elements that make the two VERY different.
@3TopicsGamer I understand what you're saying but this is why a 3rd game is needed. I'm aware that's what Vader called him and of his sacrifice in the first game and the opening of the second but uh that's Galen throughout both games, the essence of his character is the base of his story and in both instances, he was successful in overcoming his programming(with aid) because he's of Jedi stock and not as deeply scarred as Vader thought.
No this is Galen Marek, who you are talking about is his Starkiller clone. They are 2 different fighters who maybe identical physical but fight very differently.
If cal had as much training in the force he could win but he don't him not getting his full training in is the reason star killer wins and Galen having such a high power level don't help

Gotta be honest if I ever get enough support to redo this match up with Jedi Survivor Cal. He actually gained a number of new abilities that would give a very good chance to take Galen Marek down.
I don't understand how Cal's force stasis would affect starkiller considering that Taron malicos was able to defend against it with ease and I doubt that that's an ability that he's ever faced before and there is zero evidence supporting that he ever has in the past.
You must remember that Galens force shield are constantly weak. So with no knowledge of Force Stasis Galen would be caught off guard. But I don't see that ability working on more powerful force users. You need to remember Galen in his base form is fast, not strong until he is given time to amplify his powers.
@@yrooxrksvi7142 I agree As a padawan he froze 6 clone troopers after a blaster bold grazed his face being the the most memorable. Anything that doesn't have a TK barrier is free reign for Cal. Walkers (small ones), gorgana, maelstrom of rocks on Zeffo massive imperial equipment. It would work temporarily on Galen. It's also been show to work on other force sensitives like Trilla, Masana and Malicos when he let's his force wall down/when he's not focused so he has to actively beef up his TK barriers to negate it. Vader is the only one who passively repels. At the time of fallen order.
I really like the video, but you forgot to mention that Cal has never went up against Force lightning either, and when Sidious shot his lightning at Mace Windu it is very hard to block
I would counter that be saying this #1 Galen's force lightning is nowhere near as strong as Sidious's and #2 Obi-Wan Kenobi had never seen Force lightning before either until facing Dooku when Anakin got hit and yet he was able to block it by keeping his blade out. Because Cal also hold a defense stance or is on the move blocking a low level of force lighting is simple and Galen does not use Force lighting with the kind of precision that a true master would use it.
Guessing the Reason why Vader Let Cal Live by not having Starkiller duel him was because his Target was instigating the Rebellion at all, Cal is way older than Galen since He saw Anakin before He turned into Vader, Him being older when they meet means he's waaay deadlier when they meet, While It would be cool since pure Darkside Apprentice vs Lightside Padawan would duel since Starkiller is the first to be trained since a boy
No he's not remotely. Galen won against Vader simply because he had an intimate knowledge of his MO during fights, and he exploited it. Plus Vader wasn't taking him seriously.

Sylvar wins, though Kota will put up a good fight. KOTOR Darth Revan and SWTOR Dark Revan are very different as the latter is older and more powerful. Bane, even at his peak would be a fair challenge but either incarnation of Revan will win. If it's ROT Bane than it's a tougher fight, But Revan has the better chance of winning. Galen Marek Wins this more times than not. Malak lacks in defense in his combat style and his force abilities aren't as flexible as Galen. I believe Exar Kun would win this one, though Bane will put up a better fight than most. Exar is too random and his weapon makes this worse. Bane will recognize the archaic lightsaber (his apprentice used a similar if not near-identical design), but he isn't used to fighting a fighter who uses it the way Kun does. I think Dooku would win this one. He's the more skilled lightsaber master and is the less powerful but better developed Force wielder. Plo Koon Wins this. I personally don't believe Jerec is that much more powerful than Plo Koon, and Plo is the better fighter. Just my opinion. No one has to agree.

Cal has only had youngling training and the first basic step of padawan training... if cal had full training to the point of jedi knight and then the training to jedi master.. then I beleive cal would've been one of if not the most powerful force user of his generation including luke and and up in the top 5 jedis in the prequel era and would beat star killer.. but as it stands star killer clearly wins.. but with the force in its purist form star destroyer has the power but cal is more at one with it letting him become more a part of it
am looking back at this but at the end fight it's kinda flawed in a way cause if this was truly a versus series then it should have been a 1 v 1 fight no allies to call upon or to even participate in a fight like this it should have ended with Kestis death since it was quite obvious that he would lose....
Cal is good but Starkiller is too much for him. His feats, even in the novels which he's weaker in, outclassed anything Cal has done. The fact that he defeated Darth Vader who Cal had to RUN from is just the final nail in the coffin.
To be fair, the power difference between Canon Vader and Legends Vader is definitely something to take into account.

In their second fight, Vader WANTED to get captured, and let Starkiller win. Even in the books Starkiller would note Vader was fighting in a disinterested manner. In the second Book, Vader had Starkiller dead to rights 2 different times and chose not to kill him

While I dispute Kestis getting the edge as a lightsaber duelist, I do agree with your overall conclusions. Both combatants possess skillsets designed for punching above their own weight classes, and are generally most vulnerable against their own tactics, demonstrated in Marek's case in his battle with Maris Brood. Furthermore, both characters act as vehicles for wish fulfillment Force use, Marek allowing us to wreck havoc, while Kestis allows us to subvert through trickery.

Granted, it's a good character from a decent game. I also agree, while Galen isn't a master of any of his 3 styles, he's developed them far above Cal's improvised Niman. The latter would still try to use Trakata and Jar'Kai to keep Starkiller at bay.

28:45 I wouldn't consider that a fault of Galen's. Their styles were dependent on their respective game mechanics and Galen's force applications were designed as more of a spectacle whereas as Cal had to rely on certain force techniques to supplement his lightsaber combat in order to break his opponents defenses. He was barely fighting at Jedi level, and you glance over the healing factor that BD-1 provides mid-combat giving Cal more opportunities to make a critical strike on his opponents.
The contradiction here is that Galen's Lightsaber techniques had more force augmentation, yet you're grading them solely on forms when we've already established that Galen is of a stronger build with cybernetic enhancements that give him more durability. You can't separate force powers from lightsaber combat, and not only was Galen's use of forms near master level but his force augmentation yielded greater performance. All you need for comparison are their performance against the troopers they faced. Galen faced far greater numbers at once and dispatched them far more easily. Cal begins to struggle when he has to face more than one squad, and that's based on cutscenes not just how well you played.

I’m not surprised, one was trained intensely by Darth Vader and the other hadn’t used his lightsaber in years. 1 stood up to Vader and the other ran in fear of him.

@@jakesock58 their displays of power also are different because of how they fight. Cal isn't into killing, but offensively fighting as his defense. He fights to survive which is why he uses his abilities in the way he does. However, if they were to fight with the same intent, I do believe that cal would be more creative with what he possesses
Starkiller in the second game wipes the floor with Cal
Kal would give Starkiller a similar fight to proxy but with force abilities, with Kal switching through his lightsaber modes fluidly, and mixing up his attacks.
Galen would appreciate the party tricks Kal’s doing and cannonball his ass across the map. Just look at their contests with Vader. I know that type of comparison falls flat because of how the various styles of each combatant interacts with each other, but for Galen, Vader was the final test of his life, a test he passed. For Kal, Vader was Death, a butcher. Scaling is stupid but not in this instance.

Cal's varied style and unique lightsaber allows him to contend with opponents far above his own level, even including galen. Galen has never fought an opponent like cal before. Cal's core technique isn't on the level of jedi master. It's how he utilized it that allows him to compete against foes far above his level. It was even stated in the video that cal was not on the level of shaak ti or vader, but that cal's unique style would give jedi and sith far above his level a challenge
Galen isn't on their level either. Galen only won his fight against ti having to become creative with his force abilities, and his fight with vader had external factors and ulterior motives built in. Galen even noted that he could not defeat vader outright on the back of lightsaber combat and had to rely on his force abilities, and knowing that vader wanted him to surrender instead of killing him outright, used that knowledge to create an opening.

Honestly I'm a bit sad the series is ending, but I don't blame your reasoning. These videos were always a lot of fun, and your tidus vs cloud matchup is one of my favorite videos on RUclips, both because tidus is one of my favorite video game characters, and a fight between tidus and cloud seems a lot like how Yoda vs Vader would go.

If I were to explain the force ability difference between Cal and Galen it would be Magnitude. Let’s use Force repulse as the example ability here, both combatants can use this ability however the application and power behind it is vastly different between the two, further exemplified by Cal’s use of it when he uses Force repulse he slams the ground to generate a shockwave that knocks everyone around him to the ground but Galen’s generates a shockwave in every direction that not only knocks away targets but sends them flying killing most weaker foes. This difference is even more apparent by the fact of Galen’s Saber slam (I think that’s the name) technique where he does the same as Cal does with his Force Repulse but only utilizing Force push and it sends his opponents into the air which to me sounds more impressive than knocking them off their feet.

The only thing I have an issue with is Kal being able to block force lighting as it’s been stated and shown that specialised training is needed to be able to block force lighting with a lightsaber, combined with the fact just how Galen has never experienced Force stasis Kal has never come across force lighting and him having the misfortune of his first encounter with the ability being with the revolutionary of the skill quite possibly leading to him being stunned or thrown off guard.
I feel like cal could know how to block it cause he didn’t rlly have training or didn’t rlly know how to use the force until he was 17 but when he picked it up and all he had to do was believe in himself within a few months to a year he was able to almost defeat the 2nd sister and completely beat the 9th i feel like Jedi survivor cal is able to go toe to toe against the lighting cause cal’s best ability is knowing how wield a lightsaber extremely well as we’ve seen he’s master using double sided single and double hand using it in all variation without struggling so I think he would be able to tap in deeper to his force and have a tapped ability for it cause cal is a unique Jedi
Before watching this my opinion:
Vader loses and nearly dies to Galen and later his clone Starkiller.
Cal can’t even touch Vader and has to run to survive Vader.
Thus quite easily I could see Galen winning not even mentioning the fact how insanely Galen’s endurance is compared to about anyone.
Oh and in the sequel Starkiller (still dark clone) kills Luke and Jedi Leia.

But I still wouldn't sell Cal so short. Niman can be just as hard as Juyo, even he's still unfocused as of JFO. Using Trakata to switch from single to double to dual sabers would catch Galen off guard. Cal would still lose, but he'd buy enough time to run away.
@@yrooxrksvi7142 The problem though is Starkiller has fought proxy as Darth Maul, has mastered saber combat and is much stronger in the force that Cal using 2 lightsabers would not catch him off guard. Also running away wouldn't work because he could just grab him with the force.
He might be skilled as a Padawan but let's not pretend he can surprise a master who bested vader and matched palpatine.
This was an excellent breakdown of both characters, especially given you covered SW characters only once before. A few wonky pronounciations here and there aside, the way you covered their physicality, their fighting style and Force powers was absolutely nailed on the head. My personal take on Cal is that rather than learning directly Niman from Tapal and re-learning it as the game went on, he simply adapted and tried to put his master's teachings to use as he grew more confident. Rather than Makashi as you suggest at 25:00, I feel as though Cal still retained Shii Cho as it's consistent with his simplistic, wide sweeping slashes, and the clip you've presented falls more in line as an example of him applying Ataru. The others you listed are spot on however. It seems also that he did apply (at least on a instinctual level) Trakata, as he off-balanced Trilla on Bogano by switching off his blade suddenly, and the way he cycles through single, double saber and Jar'Kai also seems coherent with Trakata.
Finally, I disagree only on giving Cal the edge in lightsaber skills. While he definetely has an edge by having a varied and unpredictable form that is just as personalized as Galen's, Cal never elevated it to such a degree to any of Galen's 3 styles. Starkiller is no master, but he is a trained assassin, while Cal had to re-develop quickly over a short period of time. Still, switching between elements of the first 4 forms, saberstaff, Jar'Kai or Trakata is enough for him contend with Galen at first, as you rightly pointed out. The fight narration was also the most plausible scenario, as Cal would exploit any opening to escape from Starkiller.

@@baki484 Hi again. Turns out Cal is becoming an aspiring Battlemaster in Jedi Survivor. Assuming his grasp on Niman has improved, his connection to the Force expanded and improved as well, and that now he can switch between single saber, Jar'Kai, saberstaff and crossguard saber (as a heavy broadsword of sorts), he's risen from a high tier 5 (on par with TPM Kenobi or TCW Ahsoka) to a tier 4 (Rebels Ahsoka or RoTJ Luke). Or he went from amateur Exar Kun wannabe to bordering Kao Cen Darach material.
I hoped we would've gotten a lightsaber forms system similar to Ghost of Tsushima's stances, but whatever. I can't even play the game on anything right now and getting a PS5 or a high end PC is not in my current prospects.
Looks like he knew how to apply Makashi after all or he learned in the 5 years gap between JFO and JS

Glad I could help. This is perhaps one of the best match ups personally I've done. From the outside it may seem like a stomp but once you really dig deep you will see that this would actually be a fight and thats all I wanted to prove with this match up.
I really liked how you did the fight
Instead of starkiller just gutting cal
Cere comes to assist and they escape which is there usual tactic
However that brings up another question
Cals gang may try to work as a unit in certain scenario's so
What would happen if
Cere, Cal, and marron worked as a unit on starkiller
Cals odd saber work of switching between one blade , to saber staff, to duel wielding is confusing
Ontop of that similar to Kyle katarn
Cere when we see her in the final mission uses her pistol to throw off her opponent in combination of her saber
And finally marron is a night sister with magic
So all 3 of these oddities if applied in unison and at the right times might actually allow them to defeat starkiller or Escape If not that
Also Vader was probably pissed starkiller failed
I don't know why, but I kind of see this battle almost like a wrestling match in the sense that each combatant would take the lead and be winning for a moment, only to be switched to the other. The problem I have with this fight is that we don't fully know or have the chance to see each Jedi at their full ability since they're still essentially in training. You can argue that deal in America from the Force unleashed one is a different character than part two, but the memories of the first starkiller were transplanted and the one in part two. Though you can consider them to be different people. The thing that sucks about the Force unleashed series is that it's an unfinished story, and I got a feeling that there would have been more development with the character that we never got a chance to see. I also have a feeling that Galen would have been a tie in some way shape or form to the a New Hope and leading to the destruction of the death Star because in part two Darth Vader is taking captive, and I got a feeling the gaining would have gone up against his sith clone that kills him if you take the dark side path. I haven't played phone order yet, so I can't make it accurate comparison, but in many ways I think the Galen is a more developed character in the sense of the fact of how he's sharpened his skills compared to Kal. But that's my take.

Good final match, expected Galen to win. My 1st few matches I saw from you were your Vergil vs Sephiroth, Cloud vs Tidus, and Cloud vs Zack. It was a different take on the versus matches and I really liked them. Even so, this was a good way to cap things off.
When it comes to abilities, I, and a few others, consider Jedi are Books in the Force, Sith are Daggers, and Gallen Marick is a Thermal Detenator.

Agreed. Cal's Niman is more of an improvised patchwork of other forms plus a gimmicky but unique lightsaber. Galen's Soresu/Shien/Juyo hybrid is much more developed and fluid, as he didn't stop training for half a decade like him.

I feel like Galen would just force pull the mantis down like he did with a star destroyer
#1 Galen did not pull down the Star Destroyer it was already coming down at him all he did was force the nose down to try and stop it from hitting him.
#2 After this fight he would be abit too exhausted to attempt to pull down the Mantis. Even Galen has his limits.

Cal would hold his own for the first “round”. After that, starkiller would wipe the floor with him. Cal is a survivor. Cool. Starkillers only job was to find survivors and unsurvive them. His only “teacher” was one of the greatest duelists and jedi killers ever. He trained to go 100% at all times. Cal has some cool tricks but has never fought somebody that comes right out the gate on untra beast mode. Capping for cal…
I would respond to you by saying that I don't think you are giving Cal enough credit. There is no question that in prolong fight Galen not Starkiller would win. The point I am trying to bring up is does Cal have the capability to compete and in some case win against Galen and I do believe. I openly stated that if Cal had an aggressive combative approach he could absolutely win as his abilities and techniques that Galen has no experience against. The problem is Cal does not fight this way. If this was a 10 round fight rounds 1-3 would be Cals best chance to win but once the fight got to rounds 4-7 the fight would become more even with Galen gaining ground. If this fight got to rounds 8-10 it would not be a question of if Galen would win but how. Also there is not evidence that Galen can go Beast Mode at the the start of any fight neither the comic, novel or game confirm this. Galen is built for battles of attrition the longer the fight goes one the stronger he gets. All depictions of Galen show his most powerful force feats at the finish of the fights. Galen can not one shot any force user even weaker ones then himself. Galen knows that attempting to do this would just burn him out quickly. If opponent survives the opening outburst of power he will be left exposed and this is a lesson that Vader certainly would've have taught him. Now in closing I had considered on doing a rematch video using the most recent version of Cal against Force Unleashed 2 Starkiller (who is a different character than Galen Marek) but I think I should leave that for someone else.

Not quite fair yet seeing as galin marik has 2 games out now you should do a redo now that Jedi surviver is out cause he has a bunch more new badass feats in this game like
Galen Marek is in the first game StarKiller is in the 2nd game. They are very different characters.

Cal is great and all but Starkiller was trained by one of the best lightsaber duelists and most powerful force users ever. Despite being OP to begin with, his training would put him over the top alone.

Didn't go through all the comments to see if anyone had posted already that the weapons and equipment section was unfair because of the fact that Galen also uses two lightsabers in the sequel. I understand the match up but it should also include that information as well to make it more balanced.
This is Galen Marek not StarKiller. Galen uses 1 lightsaber, StarKiller uses two. Thou StarKiller is a perfect clone there are some elements that make the two VERY different.
@3TopicsGamer I understand what you're saying but this is why a 3rd game is needed. I'm aware that's what Vader called him and of his sacrifice in the first game and the opening of the second but uh that's Galen throughout both games, the essence of his character is the base of his story and in both instances, he was successful in overcoming his programming(with aid) because he's of Jedi stock and not as deeply scarred as Vader thought.

The Game makes him appear more powerful than he actually is. I can name 15 jedi and sith who would totally destroy Galen in a 1 on 1 fight.

No this is Galen Marek, who you are talking about is his Starkiller clone. They are 2 different fighters who maybe identical physical but fight very differently.

Gotta be honest if I ever get enough support to redo this match up with Jedi Survivor Cal. He actually gained a number of new abilities that would give a very good chance to take Galen Marek down.
I don't understand how Cal's force stasis would affect starkiller considering that Taron malicos was able to defend against it with ease and I doubt that that's an ability that he's ever faced before and there is zero evidence supporting that he ever has in the past.
You must remember that Galens force shield are constantly weak. So with no knowledge of Force Stasis Galen would be caught off guard. But I don't see that ability working on more powerful force users. You need to remember Galen in his base form is fast, not strong until he is given time to amplify his powers.
Not to mention I am pretty sure he was only given the ability to block force stasis for gameplay balancing
The way I see it, Cal's Force Stasis would work on Galen shortly, but he would break out of it with a Force Wave or Repulse.

Anything that doesn't have a TK barrier is free reign for Cal. Walkers (small ones), gorgana, maelstrom of rocks on Zeffo massive imperial equipment.
It would work temporarily on Galen. It's also been show to work on other force sensitives like Trilla, Masana and Malicos when he let's his force wall down/when he's not focused so he has to actively beef up his TK barriers to negate it.
Vader is the only one who passively repels. At the time of fallen order.

Tbh i like that cal isnt thew strongest. Starkiller just way too op. Makes for a more intertesting story and charatcer if they not as strong

I really like the video, but you forgot to mention that Cal has never went up against Force lightning either, and when Sidious shot his lightning at Mace Windu it is very hard to block
I would counter that be saying this #1 Galen's force lightning is nowhere near as strong as Sidious's and #2 Obi-Wan Kenobi had never seen Force lightning before either until facing Dooku when Anakin got hit and yet he was able to block it by keeping his blade out. Because Cal also hold a defense stance or is on the move blocking a low level of force lighting is simple and Galen does not use Force lighting with the kind of precision that a true master would use it.

Guessing the Reason why Vader Let Cal Live by not having Starkiller duel him was because his Target was instigating the Rebellion at all, Cal is way older than Galen since He saw Anakin before He turned into Vader, Him being older when they meet means he's waaay deadlier when they meet, While It would be cool since pure Darkside Apprentice vs Lightside Padawan would duel since Starkiller is the first to be trained since a boy

No he's not remotely. Galen won against Vader simply because he had an intimate knowledge of his MO during fights, and he exploited it. Plus Vader wasn't taking him seriously.

Sylvar wins, though Kota will put up a good fight.
KOTOR Darth Revan and SWTOR Dark Revan are very different as the latter is older and more powerful. Bane, even at his peak would be a fair challenge but either incarnation of Revan will win. If it's ROT Bane than it's a tougher fight, But Revan has the better chance of winning.
Galen Marek Wins this more times than not. Malak lacks in defense in his combat style and his force abilities aren't as flexible as Galen.
I believe Exar Kun would win this one, though Bane will put up a better fight than most. Exar is too random and his weapon makes this worse. Bane will recognize the archaic lightsaber (his apprentice used a similar if not near-identical design), but he isn't used to fighting a fighter who uses it the way Kun does.
I think Dooku would win this one. He's the more skilled lightsaber master and is the less powerful but better developed Force wielder.
Plo Koon Wins this. I personally don't believe Jerec is that much more powerful than Plo Koon, and Plo is the better fighter.

Cal has only had youngling training and the first basic step of padawan training... if cal had full training to the point of jedi knight and then the training to jedi master.. then I beleive cal would've been one of if not the most powerful force user of his generation including luke and and up in the top 5 jedis in the prequel era and would beat star killer.. but as it stands star killer clearly wins.. but with the force in its purist form star destroyer has the power but cal is more at one with it letting him become more a part of it

am looking back at this but at the end fight it's kinda flawed in a way cause if this was truly a versus series then it should have been a 1 v 1 fight no allies to call upon or to even participate in a fight like this it should have ended with Kestis death since it was quite obvious that he would lose....
It's more of a story match and this isn't the first time I've had someone win without killing the opponent.
i wish Ash Wiliams (evil dead/Army of darkness) or Josh McGrath (Max Steel) or Action Man (1993) be like Luke Skywalker or Galen Marek
