In my country (Netherlands) nobody has ever heard of Eydie. After playing a couple of songs from her 'Los Panchos'- LP on my Amsterdam FM radioshow my old friend Mimi (formerly famous Dutch actress) called to the studio, saying: 'I danced about the living!'
Lovely to hear the verse…. Reminds me of the great Elisabeth Welch who sang it in her one woman shows with the introduction that it was written for the 1931 show “Everybody’s Welcome”…… but nobody came ….
When I was a kid, I tucked my parents into bed, turned off my light and quietly watched the Steve Allen Show starring Steve and Eydie when they were so very young. They fell in love on that show and made history. I miss them.
Steve and Edie we're on our kitchen radio in Brooklyn everyday and when they were on TV everything stopped to watch that performances I miss them because they remind me of my parents and the good times in Brooklyn when we were all young

She recorded several songs in Spanish with a Mexican trio called “Los Panchos” and had a tremendous success. Her Spanish pronunciation was also pristinely great and clear. As Simon Cowell says, she “could sing the phone book” and do it superbly.
Actually, her parents were Sephardic Jews - both of whom were born in Turkey, so it's likely she did have Spanish ancestry even though as you state - nobody mentioned it.@@akrenwinkle
My mother was a singer and she liked Steve and Eydie. In those days I was listening to the Stones and couldn't relate. but now, at 71, I like to revisit my mother's world. She knew something I didn't. I have little fondness for most pop singers of today. I'll take Eydie, Lena, Frank and Judy over Taylor any day.
I wish I had appreciated this wonderful lady and her amazing voice. When I was younger ( about 16 to 20) I had heard of her and her husband , but I was not into easy listening ( I hadnt heard of that description at the time ) but it wasnt mainstream. NOW ....as I am older ( 63 ) I realise I have missed out , but I am making up for that by buying as many songs by the two of these people as I can to listen and watch .
I take it you are very young, because if you feel 63 is a "graveyard age" you need to grow up and just remember what you wrote , IF you get to 63! @@kwokhungleung8793
Absolutely correct. Now today's artists and singers appears onstage scantily clad like the old stone age not for economic reason, but fashion. No bras, bare legs with no panties, and on occasion wore see-thru apparel. Artistic, but bombastic. Sometimes they called it a "statement" like mystic of India Sadhguro explained on one occasioned as to why he wore India-like attire when he promoted the idea of inclusiveness and exclusiveness. Adverse ideas by themselves. The truth said he, "if Im in north pole I must wear like Eskimo because of zero temperature. His attire is not necessarily Indian, but "a statement" - to promote Yoga". Absolutely correct because Yogi's and Guro's doesn't wear business attire. So did Hollywood.
Rudy Vallee, who introduced the song in 1931, maintained that the verse was written in too high a key. Eydie Gorme may have agreed because she's almost at the top of her range when she sings the verse's opening lines ("This crazy world we're living in is cause for apprehension / With speed a new invention / And things like third dimension").

She had a very beautiful clear voice. She and Steve Lawrence are together again. May they both rest in peace.
What a beautiful time we older folks lived through. Makes me so happy to be old(er).
We did, more people had self respect, we learned manners and politeness, behavior’s that made other people feel good too.
We lived in the best times, that’s for sure!
Amen to that.
agree 100%
Rest in peace, Steve and Eydie.
One of the most beautiful, eloquent, classy ladies of all time. I could listen to her all day.
I used to do exactly that in the 1960s.

Steve and Eydie
Thanks for all the Good olde Songs
RIP
Eydie and Steve Gorme had a magical way of transporting us down memory lane.
She was a beautiful and talented woman. ❤
Great rendition of this beautiful song 🎶 ❤‼️🤩👏🏻
Bravo. Eydie...
Well done, as always...
Love love her singing.

Didn’t know her parents were of Spanish decent. She was very talented in both languages.🎉
@@RBS314 Nobody said she had Spanish ancestry, but certainly she was a decent person.

@@sethfelson I also made a sly pun about mistaking "descent" for "decent." Couldn't help it.
Loved that album. I first learned Spanish listening to those lovely love songs. Perfection ❤
Eydie can philosophize to me any time!
She and her contemporaries were so much better than what passes for music now. I miss them.
Eydie always sings and looks beautiful. Steve was a lucky guy.
Eddie and Steve are unmatched in their timeless performances.

I am 91 Those Were the GOOD Old days - Pray for More
I pray for you!
Love them. Absolutely fabulous. My parents saw their show in Las Vegas. Their music will live on forever.❤
I am grateful that videos like this are available. Both she and Steve had a style all their own.
Love this song and how Eydie sings it. A wonderful delivery. For that era, the dress is shunning.
She always was a Godess of real music, with the voice of an angel
Her brother Sheldon lived next door to me for a number of years, never met her face to face but spoke with her many times on the phone.
Remembering this one brought teas to my eyes.
Oh, wow. Thanks for the memories.
Voz maravilhosa. Músicas lindas. Não me canso de ouvir.
These songs take you back in time.
She was awesome totally underated a heck of a singer
She sure was wonderful singer what a voice better than barbra
Wow, the voice and the orchestra what a treat
Lovely diction ,clear as a bell 🩷
What a voice

I am your age and feel exactly the same. Back then they seemed kind of corny, but look at the amazing talent we were missing out on.
63 is a graveyard age, every day a gift with aging ears, at time goes by

Her vibrato was so beautiful…
Que bello cantaba Eydie ❤❤❤
Singers before were fully dressed whereas today they’re barely dressed.

And they actually sang
A wonderful time of songs and singers
RIP Eydie. Almost all the great singers from the Golden Era of Song are gone. Sad.
Surprising how few great modern singers have tackled this legendary song.
Love her voice, a great singer ❤
...for people who may not know this...eydie also spoke...Spanish...and she recorded many Spanish albums...with great Spanish songs.
One of the great female voices of all time .
excellent!
Wonderful! This is the clip that was shown at the end of the recent PBS special about Steve & Eydie. It’s really beautiful. Thanks for posting it!
This caused me to pause for sure taking in the moment of my dear mom & Dad playing her albums on the stereo in our house. Eddie covers Gershwin wow!
Eydie Gorme was extraordinary singing boleros with Los Panchos ❤❤❤
Well Done Eydie G🎙🎧🎤
The orchestra is outstanding.
I loved her and Steve. Great singers

Love this song.
God gave us this angel !
Always had a crush on her at 15, many years ago.
She is a great singer in English and Spanish.
Wow!!!
Enchanting .....
The best.
Now that was something

Clever !!!
If she' knew the crazy intentions of today 😮
I mean inventions
"Third dimension?"
I thought she was wonderful!
Sounds like Eydie is a mezzo soprano like Connie and Barbra .
You are correct!! Her highest note was high bflat!
Gogi has very good range .@@Nunofurdambiznez
Lovely singer, but I much prefer Perry Como’s version.
I think it is a very difficult song for any singer, but Perry Como's version is as good as any I've heard so far.
meh
Loved Steve. Did not like Eydie!
Y? Goes she had Steve. & u wanted him.
