Eydie Gorme and Steve Lawrence - The Grass Is Greener

From their 1990 album "Alone Together," one of their best in the many decades of releasing great recordings. The entire album can be found here on youtube and I can't recommend it highly enough. Eydie's voice has a deeper rich tone here that I love, and Steve still sounds amazing. I wish they recorded more in the later part of their careers.

Steve passed away today, 3/7/24. May he rest in peace and now be singing with Eydie and the angels. From The Hollywood Palace, broadcast 1-24-70 which they also hosted. This is my favorite recording of his from the early 70's era, when he and Eydie started branching out from The Great American Songbook to more modern easy listening style songs. Please forgive the pause in the first 6 seconds. T...

Eydie Gorme Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight
These two are my parents favorite....my wife and I set our wedding video to this song, timeless perfection!
I could never understand how Gorme was considered talented or attractive. simply average.
Her voice was one for the ages and she was beautiful as well as glamorous.

A true entertainer.
Eydie can philosophize to me any time!
Have a listen to Bobby Darin’s version….there are a couple of live performances. He does a wonderful job.

E' apparsa una donna! Evviva! A volte con alcuni nomi imposti tipo Adrea, Nicola dati a generi m/f ; senza menzionare cosa combinano in oriente. Nomi che finiscono per a che sono maschili il più delle volte...

What show does Eydie sing that?
Can you post the songs from Alone Together as a tribute to them?
I just posted "Forever and a Day" and I'll try to post some of the other tracks over time.
Bring back these days. ❤
You can't young people 35 and under won't like them, their music, their talent and what they stood for, not only is it shameful but unforgivable as well too, PERIOD!!!!!
I thought she was wonderful!

RIP Eydie. Almost all the great singers from the Golden Era of Song are gone. Sad.

御主人のスティーブ ローレンスとのショウを楽しんだ、丁度彼女の某商品のコマーシャルの歌が流行っていた、懐かしい想い出、ご主人のマイケル・ジャクソンのカバーはマイケルよりも好き、
Her vibrato was so beautiful…
I am 91 Those Were the GOOD Old days - Pray for More
I pray for you!
My mother could sing and so can I. However, my mom said this was the best singer of her time! Self taught, and didn't sing through her nose like Babs, said mom. She was right. My favourite is I Want To Be Around To Pick Up The pieces When Somebody Breaks Your Heart on Johnny Carson. My word!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
A variety show had an orchestra!
Do have any live performances with Steve and Eydie?
I loved her and Steve. Great singers
Wow!!!
She is a great singer in English and Spanish.
If she' knew the crazy intentions of today 😮
I mean inventions
Always had a crush on her at 15, many years ago.
Love it.
Love this song.
The orchestra is outstanding.
Singers before were fully dressed whereas today they’re barely dressed.
Absolutely correct. Now today's artists and singers appears onstage scantily clad like the old stone age not for economic reason, but fashion. No bras, bare legs with no panties, and on occasion wore see-thru apparel. Artistic, but bombastic. Sometimes they called it a "statement" like mystic of India Sadhguro explained on one occasioned as to why he wore India-like attire when he promoted the idea of inclusiveness and exclusiveness. Adverse ideas by themselves. The truth said he, "if Im in north pole I must wear like Eskimo because of zero temperature. His attire is not necessarily Indian, but "a statement" - to promote Yoga". Absolutely correct because Yogi's and Guro's doesn't wear business attire. So did Hollywood.
And they actually sang
Probably the Greatest Duo in contemplate Jazz there ever was!!!
Yes I agree that it’s unfortunate that the economics of recording were such that the only recordings after this are the Sinatra album and Steve’s final record from 2014. And the videos are sparse after the late ‘70’s, with just a few from the ‘80s and ‘90s. Their later concerts were not recorded. Still, I have 175 songs on my playlist, and they bring joy!
Too bad its not live but great pics
