The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

@@that70sgirl90 hey there, I really like to ask your opinion please, I also received a reply from "Ms Francis" from a post of mine, so your saying this is NOT Connie Francis but a scammer trying to get my personal info?? How so very 😥 sad..I kinda knew it was too good to be true..watched a movie of hers today on TCM, she's just amazing 👏..I was also reading she replied to several posts here, and most were just about word by word..who pray tell me, would do such a thing? trying to imitate such a kind and professional lady?

Performers today could learn a lot from the great Connie Francis about singing live. She and other singers of her generation perfected their voices so that singing into a mic live on stage was always perfect.

I was lucky enough to meet Miss Frances several years ago and have my picture taken with her. Years ago we saw her at the Sunrise musical theater in Fort Lauderdale and when she sang "Mama" to her mother in the front row the audience of about 10,000 went completely cuckoo at the end. She is a treasure.

I would love to hear from some of the soldiers who were there, in Germany that evening. They all looked spellbound. Did anyone notice that the soldier in the lower right corner (chewing gum) from 1:17 to the left corner at 1:25 resembles Matt Dillon? Another thought Connie belongs in the R&R Hall of Fame. I have stated this on YT. She deserves to be recognized for her numerous hits and her importance in popular music.

Looking forward to this! Connie singing one of her most famous songs. Charting at #4 on the Hot 100 in 1961, it was also the title song of the movie of the same name which starred Connie. Written by Neil Sedaka (whose Sullivan performances I also hope will get posted someday) and Howard Greenfield. The date of the performance was October 8, 1961 and the episode was taped in West Berlin, Germany (at the Sportspalast). Connie sang to soldiers in the audience and also performed a medley of her hits. The date currently in the description of the video is from an anniversary episode compiled of clips from past shows.
