Today we have a build for Magneto in Dungeons & Dragons! If you want to take full advantage of all the metal spells in D&D 5e, this is the build for you!

Fun thing, hold person's material component is a long straight metal rod, so flavor it as it being literally wrapped around someone
Honestly I really do love when people flavor using material components instead of just a spell focus. One of my favorites is that the component for False Life is a small amount of alcohol. So you can literally flavor that as you take a swig from a flask as part of casting it.
@@josephperez2004 A bit of liquid courage, then? Or are they just not drunk enough for whatever bullshit is happening?
@@Unit-3D Why not both? Complete with the Archer Pose.
@@josephperez2004 theres a bunch of puns in the components too, which is how I found that. like phantasmal force is a bit of fleece because you're pulling the wool over someone's eyes
@@josephperez2004 In all these years I never thought of that. Mind blown! Thank you!
Starting off as a monk, first level monks get two skills from the monk list
That is my ringtone.

I mean, if anyone wants to nitpick, they can just read the comics and watch the movies themselves and realize Erik did not gain instaneuous perfect control of powers, he had to train with and study them to get as powerful as he is.
Yeah, but just to play devil's advocate Sorcerers don't get immediate perfect control of their powers either they're just born with them. They still have to train.
Minor correction. Telekinisis doesn’t allow a Strength SAVE, they make a Strength CHECK, this means that they roll raw strength vs you rolling raw Int
And that ravine barbarians have advantage
Which means it ignores pesky legendary resistances.
Ooh, do a Longneck build.
Who's Longneck?
I came here to say just this. Give me Longneck of give me death!
Or disappointment preferably.
Sorry, Calligraphy isn't a class
*LONGNECK!*
Howdy There Danger at the beginning caught me SO off guard
It's the song of the Summer
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 think you can make pain from Naruto? I mostly just want to know if it's possible
Tulok the barbarian can you make a howdy there danger into a music video?
@@puppetmaster1420 So... Monk + Gravyturgist + Echo Knight? I love it!!
"For this level's spell, Hold Monster-" while showing Beast. That's cold, dude.
5:45 - at least Wolverine can’t help his metal situation. Beak (a mutant bird guy) took on Magneto solo with a . . .
METAL BASEBALL BAT.
Now that is the epitome of stupidity.
That guys a bit of a dodo >>
Tiger the Lion BOOOOOO!!
Poor beak, he got the hollow bones and feathers of birds but no good things.
Usually said metal bats are made of aluminium. #ihavenosuchweaknesses
Fun fact: Magneto isn't limited by manipulating metal. He can control ANY magnetic polarity. Meaning he can use the magnetism that holds your atoms together if he wanted to. He is an Omega level mutant meaning one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe.
That means Gravity-Boy fits perfectly.
Here's a fourth reason to make Magneto a wizard. In the comics, at least, he's only as powerful as he is because he went to college and got a physics doctorate, specializing in the study of magnetism and electromagnetism of course. His daughter Polaris has the same powers but can't do nearly as many things with them because she didn't book up to learn all the tricky ways magnetism can be applied.
“Mutants are better than humans and half elf’s are too”
*laughs in feat at level 1*
Here’s an idea for a build: Hagrid from Harry Potter! The man is LITERALLY half-Giant, so he’d be perfect as a Goliath Shepherd Druid (or something like that)!
Most likely never going to happen, I doubt Tulok wants to advertise Harry Potter considering JK's a bitch.
FelixFalora chill
@@martyhoskin2421 I said what I meant.
@@FelixFalora He might let it slide on the grounds that there's nothing objectionable in the books themselves. Though I'm sure he'll rip JK a new one anyway if he goes with it.
Just because JK is insane and transphobic doesn't mean Harry Potter isn't one of the best middle grade book series ever written.
You know you have to do a long neck build now
You can forge weapons with the Fabricate spell, provided you have proficiency with the specific tool used to make them. Smith's tools would be perfect for metal, and you can pick up the Skilled feat for tool proficiency as well as skills... or Prodigy.
Update: as mentioned in the video, first use of graviturgist.

YOOOOOOOO. Been waiting for this wish list build for a while now. *Keeps fingers crossed for Count Dooku*
Funny thing about Magneto pulling the adamantine out of Wolverine’s body: that storyline was born from an off-hand comment made by writer Peter David during a meeting. Literally, he said to himself “If I was Magneto, I’d just pull Wolverine’s skeleton out of his body and be done with him,” and the rest is history.
Nice that you got the chance to use one of the Wildemount subclasses, too. There’s some really interesting stuff in there, but as you said, it’s very specific. If I was making this build I’d get the 3rd level dunamancy spell Pulse Wave somewhere in there (simultaneous damage and pushing or pulling targets with telekinesis/magnetism).
Im still hoping for that fulgore build. Hes honestly would make one hell of a build
Well... He's a Warforged for one thing

Hell yeah
Yo. That wonder boy reference. Too good. You just took me 10 years into the past my dude.
I’m still praying for MEGAMIND in D&D
Hey, you! Psst. Yeah, you. Have you heard about our lord and savior ARTIFICER??
@@LucasDeziderio yeah but you can't build a mech in dnd. The end fight would need him to be the ua armourer.
A friend of mine played him as a tiefling sorcerer, which got a lot of the flavor, but lacked a mech
And yes I know about Artificer. But it would still make for a fun video! I mean he does videos on some characters that are obvious. Like Spider-Man being a monk... but it’s still fun
Regionaljoker88 Cast Enlarge on you steel defender as a battle smith and have the mounted combatant feat, the rest you know where it goes.
Static shock in Dnd. (Like for everyone that wants it)
On the schedule soon!
Don't do that, don't give me hope...
Though the big question is how does the DnD version of Static get a healing factor, and turn into a being made out of lightning. And yes in the current comics Static has a potent healing factor like reattach arms, and legs level healing factor, and can if need be turn into a being made out of lightning. Will also need a DnD version of his Bio-Electric Sense aka his ability that allows him to see and find invisible opponents.
@@derrickhaggard Druid my friend. elemental shape can be gotten and they've got a good number of lightning spells too
@@ActionNerdGo Okay Druid does work with a lot of Static's moves including his Being made out Lightning transformation, and possibly his Bio-Electric sense since I think Druids get a spell that allows them see invisible opponents. But what can serve as the DnD equivalent of his healing factor as Virgil in the current comics does have a healing factor that is pretty potent as in he can reattach his arms and legs if they get cut off along with healing near-fatal wounds.
Gravity wizard? Just my guess I’m so hype for this one!
A minute? Last time I was this early it was the Days of Future Past.
@Soveliss Galanodel puns!
I've been binge watching this series, I always love the spell group jokes. Like this one's using feather fall on Mystique, Pyro, Toad, Yoshi, Wario.
Yes Magneto! So OP and so awesome!
Thunderwave? Tenser's Floating Disk? Animate Objects? Protection from Elements? All good choices for Magneto.
Especially animate objects! No flavor required, use ball bearings or daggers as tiny object's
how to play as:
Wander (Shadow of the Colossus)
Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean)
Captain Ray Holt (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)
matheus fiorelli I’m all in for a Raymond Holt build!
I still feel like Magneto's most awesome moment was moving the Golden Gate Bridge.
Bard of Lore would also be a good option.
- Potential access to all metal based spells.
- Charisma Caster, so the leader thing is good to go.
- K n o w l e d g e
- Cutting words can be reflavored to briefly stopping foes via the iron in their blood.
- Bardic inspiration being a beneficial variant of cutting words.
Maybe some levels in Sorcerer for metamagic.
I’m impressed. Great build, I like the gravitaturgy wizard flavor. Request for Martian Manhunter/Miss Martian. My personal build for that would be a changeling pact of the Tome GOOlock. I’m interested to see what your take on the character would be.
What's a goolock?
It stands for Great Old One Warlock.
I would say Changeling or Gith (the alien-ness and if I remember right Giths are green) Sorcerer 17 (Abberant Mind, they shape shift a bit and get some mental stuff) mixed with either Sun Soul Monk (I think he has lasers if I remember right) or Open Hand Monk (hes strong enough to match clark kent so open hand monk would fit well) 3. The 17 caster levels are for some awesome mental spells (like Geas, my personal favorite spell in the game) and for maximum polymorphs (shapechanging into stuff like dragons, which he does turn into), greater invisibilities (he can go invisible) and blinks (he can go intangible)
Oh man, Contingency and Mighty Fortress? Glad to see these niche but super fun spells getting some love.
I'm loving the trend of taking jump or longstrider with a high level/level 20 of wizard you've got going. Algorithm be praised
Battle Master/Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer (Golden) Uncle Iroh please.
I love how jump is always the 20th level spell choice
I’ve played Pathfinder the last 4 years and I’ve wished for a channel like yours for Pathfinder characters.... so I joined a D&D campaign two months ago haha
This is reminds me why I subscribe to you. Anyone can mash up powers to make copies but it is harder when those powers don't exist.
Well I never thought sir Ian would be a wizard
For the glorious algorithm I will point out. 2 levels of Forge domain cleric lets you metalbend.
Animate objects seems like a great spell choice here.
Given the number of times he cut back to the escape scene, I am honestly surprised that 'Animate Objects' didn't make the spell list. Ten ball bearings circling and striking your opponents seems very much in character for Magneto. Plus, you know, ten attacks with plus 8 to hit as a bonus action helps when you are outnumbered 4 or 5 to 1.
Yep he did that in days of future past
I've been thinking a lot about a build for Beast from X-Men! Gotta be some kind of Alchemist mixed with a martial class, thought it'd be an interesting build. He's my favorite X-Man and his stars and garters need some love!
Tulok's videos are how I keep track of time now.
I am so excited for this build. Bro, I love this series.
Omg a Tenacious D reference?? I knew I liked you
I used Haunted One for the background on my Legion-inspired half-elf build. 19 levels of College of Lore Bard and 1 of Great Old One Warlock (reflavored as making the voices earn their keep). Also uses Magic Initiate feat to get a free mage armor use per day. I got the same features as the Aberrant Mind sorcerer, but with about 13 more spell options. Also, Legion often plays out like a trippy music video so I figured Bard works with that aspect. Lots of mind-affecting, psionic, force, and fire-based spells.
The Nazis murdering scenes are always my favorite Magneto scene
I just want to say thank you for these videos and the work you put into them. My friends and I love them and all subscribe. Your work is appreciated.
Thank you. Tell your friends I noticed you and they have to buy you a beverage of your choice. While maintaining social distancing, of course.
12:36. Fun fact: Magneto did the same thing in 2022’s X-Men: Red issue 1. Made his very own metal castle. The acoustics in it are amazing.
Thank you for the magneto build!!!!
The video is great but before I even finished I dropped a like solely for the Tenacious D reference in the beginning. Top tier content, sir!
Had to look up Longneck:
On M-Day he lost his powers and his 6-foot long neck tried to revert back to normal and snapped as a result. He died. Wat?
M day was a thing where about 90% of mutants lost their powers. I've never heard of longneck so I assume they're being requested as a joke.
WELL HOWDY THERE, DANGER
8:14
Huh. I always thought Magneto would be more into Wolfenstein. Because... well... you know...
Killing Hitler and watching him melt into a puddle of blood.
Can you build Dart from Legend of Dragoon? I don’t know how the Dragoon mechanic would work but I’d love to see what you come up with!
I'd imagine the additions would best represented by fighter's multiple ways to extra attacks. As for the dragoon spirits, I think either warlock or draconic sorcerer. And I'd lean towards sorcerer for the haste spell for more additions.
When you're rewatching the first Tulok vid you ever watched (Link) and a new one drops...
I very much enjoyed this video! Great as always, Tulok! But, if you allow me, I would recommend substituting Shocking Grasp with Sword Burst, as it fits better. Also, I'm surprised you didn't pick the Cloud of Daggers spell!
Episode #177 of the Fire Emblem stats: Erik Lensherr.
Magneto's skilled with flight, heavy armor, and all non-brawling weapons as well as authority since he's Mutant Malcolm X. He's weak with both types of magic since his magnetism is not magic.
He has great attack and resistance, bad speed and magic, and average everything else.
as a sorceror main i'm gonna yell!!!!
not bc wizard was used, but because i wanna support tulok as best i can. thanks algorithm!
In honor of the recently released Unearthed Arcana, I'm curious to see your take on an Aladdin build.
Cant believe I had to wait till the end of the video to get hype for the jump spell
holy shit this one was a banger you nailed the delivery my guy!!
Yes I love Magnito. Thank you Tulock
Hey tulock, I was curious about doing a Finn the human build. I was thinking about a barbarian fighter multiclass
Little bit of bard for that autotune singing and gorgeous hair
I’d personally replace Bigby’s hand with Maximillian’s Earthen Grasp, mainly because the metallic/magnetic flavour makes more sense.
this is a good build because even if you decided to stick to using a lot of these spells on metal only their is still a lot of use. If the person has metal on them then hold person, and levitate still check out. The changing of somethings weight pairs so well with catapult as well. Really like the potential of this one.
Magneto is an awesome build
Good video
I had no idea Longneck existed. Welp, I have no choice but to stan.
I love this build
Cool... I forgot about the Graviturgy Wizard... good thinking.
Did not expect wizard the whole way. Interesting
Guessing before I watch:
Iirc for other mutants you used half elf which I like flavor wise.
For class, as much as it'll piss me off to say it, Wizard. Because FOR SOME DUMB REASON they gave Wizard the gravity subclass, A SUBCLASS BEGGING TO BE FOR SORCERER, A CLASS THAT ALSO NEEDS SUBCLASSES WAY WAAAAY MORE THAN WIZARD. After that idk, maybe some levels in the psychic fighter UA? Not sure I've lost my enthusiasm after remembering how mad I am about graviturgist.
"Come, X-Chicken!" (uses mage hand to retrieve a drumstick)
Loving the energy with this one... made me chuckle. Keep up the great work dude!
Thank you for all the work you out into these videos. They are creative and really well thought out and planned.
If i'm right that was the first build in that he didn't multiclassed in. A miracle...
You're not right at all, there have been several.
Nice videos.
Next: How to play Beowulf
When he said Flash villains, I was half expecting the options to be betwixt Reverse Flash, Zoom and Savitar.
Nice work Tulok, I was looking forward to this build
Great now I kinda want to see a Professor X build now. If you have already made that awesome! I will get to it eventually.
Did you forget about animate objects? Bag of ball bearings is perfect for Magneto. You even show him moving the tiny metal spheres.
That would be a good one. Cloud of daggers too
Would love to see a "how to play as Wargreymon" vid!
As always, great puns and I love the asides talking about RUclips.
I would recommend animate objects to fling about knives or ball bearing or other larger metal objects
Actually, the material components for Mending is two Lodestones, a naturally magnetic metal.
"Electromagnetism and Gravity are forces"
Physicists: *twitching*
Gonna use this for my Heinsenberg build
I would jsut add metal names to all the spells lol. The Earth Kineticist (gets a metal keyword and moves like 'shrapnel' and 'spike') from Pathfinder is cool, but has even fewer moves and doesnt have the big spells like a wizard would
You had me at wonderboy.
"Otluke's Resilient Sphere" Scanlan approves ♪biiiiiigbbbbyyy's haaaaaand♪
I love that Longneck was de-powered on M-day.
Oh my neck is normal now.... Cool
I wasn't big on your Tracer, but I really really like this build a lot. Feels like the best way to make Magneto without resorting to homebrew.
Out of curiosity, do you make any homebrew? I'd be interested in checking it out if you do.
Dr.Emmet Brown from back to the future
Love the wondeboy reference
Video 8, imma keep going till Tulok makes one of them. Master Chief, Noble 6 or Jun A266 from Halo.
*So excited*
Hi nice build! Been a while but still campaigning for my mayor mc-cheese build good sir
YES TULOK FINALLY
I'm amazed there werent more/ any clips from XMen: Evolution.
Kipo from the 2020 Netflix animated show would be an interesting build, i couldn't wrap my head around it myslelf, sure some beast barbarian levels would work
