- Today we have a build for Mysterio in D&D 5e! If you love Spider-man, but always find yourself rooting for the villains, maybe it's because they have cool illusion abilities, and a bold costume choice.

Spider-Man: Got you! You're going to jail!
Mystero: um actually, I'm not here. I'm in Russia right now.
Spider-Man: Damn it!! EVERYTIME!!
Also, you forgot a cantrp: You gain one Improved Minor Illusion since you already grabbed one. I'd suggest Mage Hand.
Request: Giantdad of Dark Souls. *The legend never dies.*
Yes Yes Yes YES Y E S!!!
WOT RINGS U GOT?
GIANT GIANT GIANT
BECOME UNSTOPPABLE
@@sinistertwister686 Don't forget that Int is 8. The Dex 10 of shame must remain. Since I only deal in core I was thinking Half-Orc (for stats and brutal sword swings), Outlander (for Bandit starting class), Fiend Warlock 5 (for the black flame pyromania), Champion Fighter 15 (for the armor, and simple yet awesome power of the BASS CANNON). STR 16, DEX 10, CON 16, INT 8, WIS 12, CHR 13.
@@vadandrumist1670 You could also go Goliath, which is the closest thing to a playable Giant in 5E.
How to play as blastoise? Tortle artificer with eldritch cannons on his shell!
or a tortle monk of the four elements. you could flavor the flurry of blows as his rapid spin.
@@jessecosgriff7610 that would be lit
"Changeling could be a good option"
There are already 2 changelings in this video. I guess three's the charm
“Wouldn’t it be wild if there was cow Thor?” *looks at Firbolg Paladin/Sorcerer* “hahaha whaddya mean, weird?”
As soon as I've seen the new Echo-Knight I tought "This'd be a brilliant Talion from the Shadow of Mordor game"
Also a kalashtar instead of variant human
I NEED HIM TO MAKE SHADOW OF WAR CHARACTERS!
@@feedbacking6306 well since you yelled so nicely, I'm sure homie will get right on it.
Yes, I was thinking a bit of ranger gloomstalker to move as stealthy, a bit of warlock (if could be done, I'd take the Bow as pact weapon, if not eldritch blast will do) and the rest fighter echo. Altought I think you might put a bit of either pact of the fallen or trechery paladin, and maybe change the Gloomstalker with the horizonwalker to get the teleporting ability. I'll Leave the work to him, he's better at doing it 😅
Yes Echo Knight is pretty cool, but I don't see it for Talion. I have thought on this and he seems to be a Ranger, possibly Monster Hunter or Gloom Stalker, Warlock. Hexblade I can see for The Ring, Fae for Celebrimbor he is an elf, or Undying because it is really hard to keep him down and Celebrimbor is dead. I can see throwing some fighter, either Battlemaster or Champion, to try and beef him up.
Episode #140 of the Fire Emblem stats: Quentin Beck.
Mysterio's a master of illusions so he's great at faith and bad at everything else.
He's very lucky due to his illusions screwing people up but make no mistake, he's just a normal-ass dude otherwise.
I like this. Thank you.
So he has S rank in faith, skill that increases amount of Warp and Rescue spells, what more... E or D rank in all combat (sword/lance/axe/bow/reason) proficiencies (however I think he has reason trained at least up to D rank). *Checks something on FE3H wiki* Actually, he has to have rank B in swords and C in bows to unlock Assassin class for Stealth skill
Hi Tulok! Some months ago I also tried to make a D&D build designed on Mysterio, probably my favorite Marvel character 😁
It's slightly different from yours, though, so I wanted to share it with you.
I picked a full-Wizard build (school of Illusion obv), because I do not like to multiclass that much!
So, here it is: hope you'll enjoy it!

I've never finished the build, because we stopped way before the 17th level, but it was very fun to play!
Pro Tip: Swap in some Necromancy spells and choose battlesmith Artificer instead of artillerist and you've got Ray Harryhausen
Two requests to add to the list:
1.) I actually legitimately want that Mysterious Mister Mistofolees build.
2.) Bugs Bunny, trickster god, could be a very interesting build, though I have no idea how you'd approach that.
2. Would Rogue's Arcane Trickster be a place to start?
I love that mister music clip at the start. Legitimately one of his best roles.
Request: Spawn. He was just released in Mortal Kombat 11
straight warlock man.
Tiefling, Fiend Warlock, or Oathbreaker Paladin for flavor.
@@SCP.343 Oh no, Spawn would be a variant human with a soldier background. Maybe an oathbreaker padlock, but I would think more lock than pad.
@@vernonhampton5863 yeah, that's more source accurate.
What about Fallen Aasimar, Soldier background, and Oathbreaker Paladin? You could Roleplay that he thought he was human for all of his youth. Also, throw in some Warlock levels.
"Just maybe don't pretend to be a father figure to Peter Parker. That's pretty much a death sentence."
...oh
5:45 "it will stop us from getting a weird spell later and I don't want to name it" but you just did...
Ooohhh took me about as long as it did for Peter to realize Quentin Beck was up to something
Mentioning Nick Fury, I'd love to see an Afro-Samurai build. I mean how many other Samurai builds have you really done? How many that could jump really well or fought gunmen, or even sky surfed a robot?
Jack
Plasma Shade defenitely jack, I mean honestly, jacks like the perfect samurai.
That is the joke, yes.
A Request for another villain with a weird head: Skeletor! A timeless classic.
not sure if there's a race for "dude whose face was melted off by an acid spell," but knowing tulok he'll probably pick variant human.
Make a Predator build
Simic Hybrid. Rogue. Bet
Yautcha or bust!
@@jeebuscrisco7928 I"m thinking bugbear ranger/rogue, that's what I lay. Super sneaky with all of that damage!
Please? Pretty please? With a cherry on top?
"Illusion casters are mean. This is what you signed up for" for more elaboration on this topic see the Pennywise video
Build Lion-o of the mighty Thundercats, you got He-man and She-rah so why not finish the hasbro space barbarian trinity.
I'd love to see that, but maybe Tulok should wait until Mythic Odysseys or Theros drops. The Leonin race might have better features than the Tabaxi for recreating Lion-O
Weekly Build Request: I saw someone ask for a Digimon Build in the comments so I would love to see a build for my favorite Digimon Beelzemon from Digimon Tamers (the third season).
Geez, with the motorcycle and everything? Also gotta have that impaling claw attack.
@@BJGvideos Would also need to incorporate his wings, his guns, and his giant laser cannon.
EEEEEE. I LOVE MYSTERIO, AND FINALLY SCARECROW! CAN'T WAIT!!!!! THANKS.
Also, your charisma is definitely high
Mm, I'd say you missed one trick: Mysterio's first drone would be a familiar, either an owl or a raven. Surveillance, any special senses, and can deliver touch attacks for you as long as it's within 100 feet.
Oh, and _mirage arcane_ just produces feeling, not reality. If you walk into a pond that looks like a grassy field, you'll still get wet. You just won't feel it until the spell ends. Likewise, anything taken from the area of effect that isn't real disappears. (It doesn't do people, though. SAG/AFTRA is a strong union...)
Now, what to request? I like wolves, but there aren't any playable canines in 5e so far... but you did manage Shizue, hm...
(ponders, rifling through old memories)
No... no... I'm sure someone already requested Legosi from _Beastars_ , thanks...
(cocks head)
Well, you'll probably consider it too simple, but how about Murobo from the OVA of _Kouryuu Densetsu Villgust_ ? His section starts here:
ruclips.net/video/sLCvb5xKcSg/видео.html
… though you don't see him in his armor until 18:35 in that video. Go to 23:00 to watch him in proper action.
Short explanation of the action, since it'll help give you an idea of his character. When we first see him, Murobo believes he's training the men of the village to fight. What he doesn't know is that his sneaky friend is actually marketing this as a fighting ring, and taking (and collecting on) bets. He doesn't take it too well when he finds out, no...
The next section has the Big Bad of the anime setting up a fight between Murobo's group and the other heroes in the film, by use of illusions. This pays off by the end.
I would love a bane build. I'm guessing Open Hand Monk and Totem Warrior (or Berserker) Barbarian. Although most are voting for scarecrow, even though I don't think it would be too different from this one
Bane is a genius and a master strategist. I'd swap the Barbarian for Battle-Master Fighter, and maybe add.a few levels of Alchemist Artificer so he can have potions that increase his strength and / or dull his pain.
@@jonathancampbell5231 barbarians not being smart is a complete stereotype. I chose barbarian for the extra health cuz bane's a tough dude and his rage could be him being pumped with more venom juice. Alchemist doesn't really work as outside of the potions he doesn't really have anything to flavor as spells or magical infusions. Battle Master would be cool though
Say what you want Tulok, we all know damn well you didn't dump Charisma.
Tulok dumping every stat is a gigantic mood.
Great build, I wasn’t expecting the artificer levels, but they really fit well. Great video Tulok, I’m hoping to see Steven Universe and Gandalf somewhere down the line.
Damn this is a really cool build! Mysterio has always been one of my favourite characters in terms of villains
I'd like to request a Dr. Victor Von Doom character build!
I'm really hoping Marvel will introduce him in the MCU and do his character justice.
EDIT: grammar
Artificer/Warlock?
Or
Artificer/Wizard?
Hmmm
@@FirstnameLastname-kn5sw I'm not exactly sure he would even need a class other than Artificer, but Wizard would be far more optimized for INT score. I think he'd be an Artillerist? Then only problem is figuring out how to give him simulacrum Doom Bots.
Constitution should be the dump stat. Mysterious goes down in one hit most video games.
How bout a build for Night Monkey?
Mysterio is my favorite Spider Man Villain!!! And it's my birthday! So thanks for the birthday gift!
Can you do Mirage from Apex Legends? I feel like Echo Knight for Wildemount would be a good choice but I would love to see it done!
nice as always, Tulok!
now I gotta make another episode of my series "Tulok, please build Shadow the Hedgehog in DnD" :D
Guts and Vergil waiting room, keep it up dude your vids are amazing
You thought I was your Uncle but it was I DI.... Mysterio
I'm voting for Bane. I would also like to mention the only hero who has a rogues gallery comparable to Spider-man or Batman... The Flash. Sometime in the future you should make a Flash villain. If you're looking for choices for who it should be I would say Gorilla Grodd, Abra Kadabra, or Captain Cold.
I need that Killer Croc video, man.
I doubt you'll ever use the Mystic class (a bit sadly) but what about trying to use one of the new psionic subclasses or the Graviturgist and build Shigeo Kageyama, or Mob, from Mob Psycho 100??
Chronurgist is out.
*IT IS TIME*
*FOR DOCTOR WHO*
I just read the Chronurgist. More like the Harold Saxon Master...
Awesome build as usual! Nice job and can’t wait for Thursday’s!
That Cats reference got me!
@@MegaPokefan97 The song he did for the title card, it was a play on Mr. Mistoffelees from Cats.
Fun fact unseen servant doesn't require concentration and neither does find familiar so if you constantly ritual cast find familiar and unseen servant you can have four extra hands on deck if necessary depending on what you summon for your familiar
Cool video! How about the Sam/Dean Winchester from Supernatural? Or Castiel to get away from that pesky variant human.
13:32 he finally talks about the keystone ability of any Looney Tunes character.
no that would be pact of the blade for warlocks: the ability to pull a giant mallet out of literally nowhere.
Ben Thomason Nah, illusory reality lets you make a painting/illusion of a tunnel, run through it, and then the people behind you slam face first into the wall you put your painting on/illusion over as the tunnel isn’t real anymore. Finally, the rock/other device rigged to fall upon said impact, falls and clocks them on the head.
That Cats song in the intro gave me very dramatic and terrifying flashbacks
Could you make something like Eragon? Maybe using the dragon marks from the new eberron books
Request: Raziel or Kain from the Legacy of Kain.
Gotta rep my boy Killer Croc
Green Dragonborn or Lizardfolk
Totem Barbarian(Bear Totem being reflavored as a Croc Totem)
Possibly a bit of Rogue for his ambush tactics
I immediately thought Illusion Wizard and Artillerist Artificer for the drones and maybe a dip in Mastermind Rogue if you're fine with three classes
I would go out of my way to squeeze 2 levels of Archfey warlock into this build. Mask of Many Faces, and Misty Visions are worth the slight delay in spell casting progression, and the level one auto charm trick archfey gives is perfect for this character concept.
Taking warlock to 3rd level opens up the choice of a second "drone" that can turn invisible, a portable fog projector that can simulate stage weapons, or a screenplay that contains the cantrips thaughmaturgy, vicious mockery, and probably shillelagh.
Low damage variety.
Thunder, Fire and Psychic damage types.
I don't know of many foes who are immune to all three.
Calling it now
Illusion wizard and trickster cleric
This video made me realize how much of a fucking nightmare illusion mages would be to DM for. So many saves for so many units every turn, and with a build like this seeing through them is much, much harder. Making that fair for both sides, not swinging combat heavily towards or against the players, would be a very difficult balance.
I want some more weird horror movie builds. Like freddy Krueger, chucky, samara (the ring), jigsaw, etc. Loved the Jason one.
Nice, could use this as part of a sinister six team in a one shot campaign. Looking forward to some more spidey villains. Also recommendation, for a Blade build.
Day [?] of requesting a knight of the zodiac.
A monk with a magical armor and magic powers. Or Thor at the end of Ragnarok. Or Natsu from fairy tail, I just want a monk with magic pew-pew
Thor is a Pala-Barb with Tavern Brawler. You can Divine Smite on the unarmed attacks.
Natsu ? Human Variant ( Elemental Adept feat ... fire of course)
Monk with Way of the 4 element and
Sorcerer Draconic Bloodline (Red Dragon)
Monk who does pew pew? You mean a Sun Soul?
in the grand infinite calculus of the multiverse, if there is a pig version of Spider-Man and an alligator version of Loki, then I am 100% certain there is a cow version of Thor.
Nice build
My vote is for Killer Croc. Also more videos on "How to play as Spawn and Mewtwo" respectively.
Alternatively, instead of enhanced focus or repeating shot, you can go with the mind sharpener from the armorer UA so you can keep your illusion up using reaction if you fail your constitution check
Edit: like tulok said in the UA part 3 vid, do not miss grabbing it, especially early on if you plan to be a bit concentration heavy
*Mysterio*
A variant human wizard (with levels in artificer) known for his elaborate illusions.
Levels -
Wizard: 17
Artificer: 3
Suggestion: Crystal Gem Pearl. Either a Sword Bard or a Dexterity-based Paladin. Maybe an Earth Genasi or an elf for race?
My guess for this build
Variant human
Illusion Wizard
Maybe a multiclass with a bit if glamour bard
Great builds, Tulok. I'm curious-- what's YOUR favourite build to play us? If you could just sit back and play exactly as you want-- what OC would you rock?
How is it not a MinoThor?
There isn't a Cow Thor (although there *is* a Frog Thor; long story), there is a Thor villain who happens to be a minotaur: Roxxon CEO Dario Agger.
Yes, the most powerful oil company in the Marvel universe is run by a minotaur. Because comics.
THIS ENTIRE SERIES AND CHANNEL WOULD'VE ALL BEEN WORTH IT IF THE ONLY THING WE GOT WAS THAT CATS JOKE!
I was starting to miss your videos
I don't know about cow but there was a Frog who got a sliver of Mjlonir forged into a harmer for him. I think his name is Throg
Feel like going 3 levels of warlock could make the build really good (either before wizard or after school of illusion) , you'd lose an asi improvement and some illusions but would give some more versatility. Patron would prob be great old one to give voice comms, could say mysterio's patron is taxes so he can get all that illusion tech. Mask of many faces for permanent disguise self so you don't have to waste spell slots, eldritch blast for a reliable non psychic form of damage, could say it's a repulsion blast especially if you get repelling blast. And finally having a sprite from pact of the chain could give you an invisible drone always flying around, could give it dragons breath for the flame thrower.
I feel like it starts similar, but this really got me thinking about how you'd build Mister Terrific in DnD?
Request: Hyakkimaru from Dororo
This was a great one, since I just made an illusionist last night. Super fun spells.
Also, I need scarecrow.
Still pulling for Eglentine Price (Bednobs and Broomsticks), Winifred Sanderson (Hocus Pocus), the Reverend Doctor Syn (The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh), Captain Kirk, Commander Spock, and Counselor Troi.
I think Illusory Dragon is a better 8th-level spell option than Maze, personally
Three spell recommendations, for those who want to maximize drone/illusion shenanigans for this build:
Grab Find Familiar (1st Lvl) and Dragon’s Breath (2nd Lvl). Once you have your Familiar (mini-drone, I recommend something that flies, like a Bat or Owl), you can cast Dragon’s Breath on your little buddy. Now, they can’t “attack” in their Action list, BUT the activation for Dragon’s Breath is not an attack, it simply reads “the creature can use an action to exhale energy of the chosen type”. This is not an attack, and the spell comes from you, not the Familiar, which means your Familiar can now burninate people. Have fun.
Higher levels, grab Illusory Dragon (8th Lvl), for obvious “Mysterio” reasons. It functions pretty much exactly like a full size dragon, including breath weapon and causing Fear effects. Again, get it and go nuts.
0:15 a different destination? Goddesses isekai everywhere
When the poll has a krokodile, but it’s not King K. Rool.
_Happy ape noises._
_Sad Kremling noises._
If Bane, please not Nolan trilogy. That isn't Bane. Awesome build by the way, has inspired me to finally try an illusionist
www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Lynian_(5e_Race)
I was just wondering how you would play as puss in boots in d&d he would be a really cool character to play.
I was just wondering about your opinion on this character ?
I think his race might be lynian but what would his class be?
Thanks you are awesome and I am a big fan of your work!
Tabaxi Fighter Rogue, I would assume (or Monk Rogue)
Pretty sure Puss in Boots would be a Tabaxi Swashbuckler Rogue. Seems to fit him pretty perfectly. If not, Tulock has done a Zoro video in the past, just copy that build but make him Tabaxi instead of Variant Human.
DarklordKyo definitely fighter rogue, maybe a level in monk but mostly fighter and rogue. Definitely a swashbuckler and most likely a battle master
@@MFAniki6390 Should at least have one level in Monk, though, since Puss in Boots doesn't wear armor.
DarklordKyo swashbuckler rogue, he’s not very monk like
I love Love LOVE ❤️ that you did an artificer build. Thank you, so much. Also, do Rick Sanchez when you get a chance please.
Going back into the realm of anime and manga, when you get around to it, it is now possible to get pretty close to making Rimuru Tempest from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. How? Some of you are probably asking that question, with the supplement Juiblexian Race - Slimes Just Want to Adventure, and you can get it at www.dmsguild.com/product/273633/Juiblexian-Race--Slimes-Just-Want-to-Adventure
Oh! With the next build can we also be as mysterious as the dark side of the moon? :)
Request: Kenshi from MK. he's a badass!
Can you do a build for classic WarGreymon from Digimon Adventures.
I have no idea how you would do that but as a Digimon fan, that sounds amazing. I would also like to throw a Beelzemon build into consideration.
Something like a Sorcerer/Paladin Dragonborn, the weapon used in the Wolverine video would make it : a heavy hitting armored humanoid dragon .
Myself, I'd rather see a digidestinied build, the idea would be to have that one creature linked to you that is buffed by your relation. Maybe the new cleric subclass with a beastmaster ranger...
@@borderlinebear5509 The Dragonborn was the easiest thing for the build when I thought about it. Granted Dragonborns don't get to be as tall WarGreymon who is 10 ft tall. But it's a small detail that hardly matters. The real trick would be everything else the build would need to make it feel like it's the real thing. And curious to see how he would account for the giant anime energy ball of destruction that is the Terra Force.
@@anthonydoll8574 Hence the sorcerer levels : fireball cast with a 7th level spellslot (12d6) + elemental affinity (+5 if maxed charisma). Alternatively a reflavored fire storm (7d10) + elemental affinity.
Not as much power as I'd like but the visual effect is there and metamagic can come in handy.
09:42 Ouch. Despite the humour, this sounded... kinda real. Are you ok, Tulok?
Strong as a coursing river? Let me guess, this was made before you decided to switch the Mulan video to later in the year?
Request: Talion from the Shadow of games
Personally would've done a 3 lvl dip into archfey warlock rather than artificer, get some 'o that sweet illusion invocations.
I kinda wanna see Dr. Mario due to current events.
Why yes. I am Chaotic Evil. Why do you ask?
Also, I would have dumped CON as Mysterio because in canon he always is beaten by a single punch.
Strange request but can you try and make Sekiro from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice? A ninja with a plethora of armaments and immortality to boot could be interesting?
I might have to run an illusory wizard/thief Rouge build next game
Hey that song was from Cats. Plus he was first a magicians stage hand
I dont know if you had already done this, but i want to see your take on a Castle Crashers character in D&D. And for sake of simplicity, lets stick with only the main four.
You realize it’s been some time since your last Kingdom Hearts video. Stop resisting. Just...
*SUBMIT!!*
So Ansem, Seeker of Darkness?
WOO SCARECROW BUILD HOPEFULLY! Fear gas, spooks and Robert Ingland/Cillian Murphy!
Oh yeah, also a really cool build, I'm hyped that he came out so well, but still.
Definitely Scarecrow, not even a question. :D
Spawn would be vicious
Perhaps a future build idea could be Diavolo from JoJo's? The new book Explorer's guide to Wildemount could make it happen
Saw on a few places that people are hoping you'll eventually do an Austin Powers build.
