to realize your own wife not only betrayed you but wants to take your life, and to then put on a poker face for a month and pretend like everything is fine, takes some insane emotional maturity/resilience. I hope that guy is still able to trust, because he deserves better

he must have cried himself in car or something until there's bag under his eyes and looked sick. the wife probably thought its because her plan is working
The worst part is when this was posted online, tons of people were like “but what did you do to make her feel this way??” And tried to frame him for abuse lol
That's one of the biggest problems with western ideology. People assume others are like them, in that they would only do something bad to someone if the other person started the problem. They don't realize most of the world is actually just evil and selfish. That's why you still have people somehow thinking Communism is a good idea.
I respect how brave he is. He could've left immediately and filled for divorce but he stuck around and collected evidence. Now hopefully she can't hurt anyone else
Impressed with the husband. Most Humans wouldn’t be able to even ACT normal, knowing that the person they chose to marry legitimately wanted them to be a corpse. Dude is a Unit.
I read on another comment that they didnt sleep in the same room and there marriage was more of a contractual thing. I read this in a youtube comment so it could be completely false lol
I remember a case similar to this where a woman killed 2 different husbands by mixing antifreeze in jello for life insurance. Apparently, that case is the reason they started making antifreeze smell and taste really bad, cuz it was supposedly really easy to mask the flavor in the jello.
Yes, originally antifreeze tasted and smelled very sweet! I’m a vet tech and on occasion we’d get a case of a pet who ingested antifreeze. Because of its sweet taste, typically they would continue drinking it in high amounts. Sadly, antifreeze is EXTREMELY toxic and even very small amounts can be incredibly dangerous or fatal. Another fun fact: the antidote to this poisoning (if caught before the antifreeze is filtered by the kidneys) is VODKA!!
@@boobear9944 isnt it something about body trying to metabolize vodka and leaving the antifreeze be? i remember that ingesting strong alcohol can save your life if you ingest wrongly made alcohol - there was whole thing in czech republic few years ago with alcohol filled with ethanol/methanol, people lost their sight
This would be so difficult to pretend that everything is fine while you know that your wife is trying to kill you. This man deserves a shot at an acting career.
The fact the man had to conduct his own criminal investigation to get taken seriously really shows how male victims of domestic violence are treated. Like did it not occur to the police they could've tested the contents of the coffee for bleach themselves?
As a woman who was a victim of severe domestic violence, the police often just fucking suck. Mine was taken about as seriously as this. I ended up just accepting that he would never be caught and moved on. I wasn't even looking for him to get in trouble like retaliation or something. I didn't care. I still cared for him honestly. I just wanted there to be a record of his actions and for no one else to face what I did but the police didn't even try despite having for example text messages straight up acknowledging the abuse among multiple other key pieces of evidence. Not saying he wasn't treated poorly, just that women are often treated this bad or worse as well.

Unless maybe you live in like Saudi Arabia or something like that, your anecdotal experience isn't consistent with the norm at all.
For me I would not have been surprised, been amused yes. At least my ex-wife. Honestly, I think she tried a few times and I just happen to not die easily.
Imagine how traumatizing and heartbreaking it must be for you to not only discover that your wife has been poisoning your drink, and having to keep up the ruse of “everything’s fine’ even though you know the truth.
While my uncle was getting divorced from his first wife, she was on meth, she started threating to kill him. Eventually she hired one of her meth head friends to kill him. Unfortunately for her, her phone call was recorded. And the guy she hired took her money and then went directly to the police.
As someone who accidentally ingested cleaning chemicals, was the first customer at a restaurant one afternoon and their cooking utensils were still covered in it, you know when it hits your stomach. Food tasted a bit off but once it hits your digestive tract you know something is up. Felt like I had a molten coal moving through my digestive tract for about 24 hours. Dudes a trooper for sure.
When I was a kid, I watched a series called "from hell..." every week it was like "holiday from hell" or "hospitals from hell"....well one day, it was "pubs from hell"...this guy, had been handed a pint of what he thought was lemonade, it was caustic soda from the pumps! They hadn't cleared it out, he downed the whole thing as it was a hot day, he did such a number of his insides....I'll never forget that
I love when Charlie describes the wife trying the bleach over and over and it not working and her potentially thinking, "My husband must be immortal" I laughed quite hard at that. Good stuff man.
Idk how she thought she'd get away with it. I cleaned my coffee maker one time and my coffee tasted mildly of vinegar. Also bleach smells so bad that you'd probably smell it through the coffee. There's no reason why anyone would even consider this being a thing that would work
I don't think it was said how he picked up on it, but it could have been through the smell. Like, if you bring the cup up to your face and smell bleach in the cup, that would make some alarm bells go off I imagine. And then you take a sip, and yep, this doesn't taste right.
I feel terrible for this man. This is horrible. Finding out that someone so close to you wants you dead and is actively trying to kill you must be heartbreaking.
Heartbreak is inescapable, there is almost no path a human being can follow that does not lead to a heartbreak. However, it can ground us truly in whatever grief we are experiencing, set us to planting a seed with what we have left… or appreciate what we have built… even as we stand in its ruins. Get ur money up kid.
My biggest fear would be that she'd think the bleach in the coffee wasn't working and move onto just killing me in my sleep, or doing something else I didn't have a camera set up for.
I imagine he probably did have to lean in on the acting sick bit to keep her going. Otherwise, the husband really would be in danger of an impatient killer.
She was after his insurance money, if he gets murdered, in his sleep she wouldn't get a dime, she'd have to move onto a stronger poison in his food or something
I cannot imagine trying to fall asleep in the same house as her knowing she is trying to kill you. Big props to this guy for holding out while gathering the evidence.
How could you brush your teeth, wash your hair, or eat/drink anything that you didn't open/prepare yourself?? I would be worried she poisoned other things as well as the coffee.
I was the victim of domestic abuse and violence from my 'then' girlfriend, and despite the PLETHORA evidence I gave the police at the time, they did nothing about it.. only when she then attacked 3 other people did they arrest her. I really hope that this woman gets what's coming to her, because I really do NOT the system to hand out justice...
the "system" is so broken towards women its insane, my mother wouldnt show up to my court days for possession when my parents seperated, cause she was using drugs, and using child payments on drugs, and prostituting, moving me and my sister all around the country for years, until one day, my Dad just didnt return me one weekend, Cps investigated, and finally sided with my Dad, it took the "system" 5 years to do anything, and it was cause my Dad finally forced their hand
There was a case a few years ago about a woman named Stacey Castor who used antifreeze to do her husband in. After she pulled that off, she went after her daughter the same way, which is how she got caught. This stuff is crazy.
Correction she killed 2 of her husband's using antifreeze. And that whole case is the reason why antifreeze no longer has a sweet taste to it. It was reformulated to taste bitter and nasty.
This poor man. I would rather divorce someone, lose everything, live on the street and be absolutely poor before attempting to take someone’s life. He deserves way better. The lengths people go to is absolutely terrifying…
The sad part is he had to endure this to the point where he had to fly back to the US while still playing along and sleeping next to the person that wants to take his life. I don’t know how he was able to sleep at night
My husband is in the army and yeah if your husband dies you get $400k… that’s probably exactly why she was doing it. What a horrible person. My husband is priceless. He’s also the father of my children. I can’t even imagine losing him. We’ve been together almost 20 years. No amount of money is worth that. I hope they don’t have children. And I hope she rots in jail. Edit: I forgot it’s actually been raised to $500k… so even more motive.
I agree with you 100%. I really hope that they don't have any children either. Please show your darling husband what you wrote as I think he'd appreciate your heartfelt words.
Did a little digging and found some more stuff: After being arrested, she said her husband sexually assaulted her while they were in germany (didn't find it necessary to speak up until she was in cuffs), When shown evidence, her absolute piece of shit lawyer, Louis Fidel, genuinely said "But how do we know thats the same bleach testing strip? How do we know thats the same coffee pot?" and when shown the video of her literally walking out of the laundry room to the coffee maker WITH BLEACH IN HAND, he said "how do we know those are all the same video? How do we know he didn't just cut it?" She was charged with Domestic Violence, Attempted First-Degree Homicide, Attempted Aggravated Assault and Poisoning Food or Drink.
I don't think the lawyer did anything bad. They probably think their guilty too, but it's his job to defend her. everyone deserves to have a fair trial. even if their obviously guilty.
@@Hypara_Striker There's a difference between a lawyer acting like a complete moron to try and defend their client's innocence, and a lawyer actually doing their job well. There is video evidence of her poisoning her husband. The lawyer was completely incompetent and was acting in bad faith, completely denying her crimes and exhaustively questioning everything despite the clear, hard evidence of her crimes.
My wife worked with a doctor who’s wife was slowly giving him anti-freeze in his drinks. She was a doctor too. It just killed me she has access to so much better shit that probably would never be traced- and she went with that.
I mean if this is true you should know by now that as a doctor she'd have to write down what medicine she took, for which patient and for what reason while putting in her code to unnlock the stash (or card). She'd be tracked down at some point.
Um do you watch alot of true crime stuff? Anti freeze is very sweet and easily masked when you mix it with something else really sweet like say kool-aid or very very sweet coffee, people use it all the time to off their love ones.
What's even more heartbreaking than finding out your own wife is trying to kill you is the sheer determination she has at doing it. He was recording her for over a month? I frankly would have been terrified to sleep in the same house with her.
it’s so wild that he had to get more and more proof of this, it’s so telling on how society perceives make victims of abuse. He’s also a service member which IMO is even worse, he has to jump through hoops to prove his wife is trying to hurt him. awful.
I would like to imagine a scenario where the husband pours her and himself a cup of coffee. Then he sips his and watches her drink hers. Then as she collapses due to poisoning, he tells her he has been building up a tolerance to bleach and her plan was inconceivable. Then he runs off to become a pirate.
Isn't it charming how one footage of the wife putting a suspicious-looking substance into the husband's coffee maker didn't prompt the authorities to start an investigation as if they expected her to be holding a cartoonish big vial with a skull on it and cackling like a witch in the video?
It sucks but frankly there was little evidence at first. Especially as she was bringing the bleach over from the laundry to the kitchen, it would’ve been hard to prove. At least now she’s definitely going away and hopefully won’t get a cent of alimony. But frankly it wouldn’t have held up in court. Did he need to do it for a month? I doubt it. Probably just a week w the cameras, but still
I think it was actually a precaution from the police; to any sensible person, obviously that's enough evidence, but in a court of law there's tons of slimy weasels who will twist and turn to get their client out of a bad situation. Getting the video footage and PH levels tested is undeniable proof imo that would be impossible to recreate if he started a scene earlier
I saw it this morning and I was just shocked at her sick twisted acts. I was also shocked at her stupidity, does she really think he can't taste the chemicals in the coffee?? Besides, if he did die, an autopsy would obviously show evidence of poisoning, because people don't just suddenly die for no reason, so she'd be screwed either way and wouldn't get the money. Smh. She needs to be locked in prison for LIFE.
Fr she did not even think about those things cause her greediness got to her head and she became a braindead bottomfeeder hoping she would get the money.

Which is why some cases where they are collecting evidence for months or even years to build up their case to make sure the jury convicts.
no, it’s not. you need to be 100% sure someone isn’t lying about his wife because he wants more out of the divorce or something stupid like that. at this point you could say that for straggots, divorcing is a hobby. poor bobby joe who has been balding since he was 12 is unhappy with his marriage because he’s a crappy husband, and then he blames her for it.
I would have acted like i shared the whole cup of coffee with our child while watching cartoons just to see her lose her mind or prove just how diabolical she truly is.
Bleach evaporates as Chlorine gas when it goes through the coffee maker since it is boiling. Another large portion of it would bind to the coffee grounds and filter. She was only putting a minuscule amount in each time. The amount he was probably ingesting was close to how much you'd get from drinking swimming pool water after a cleaning.
Yea, definitely a dumb way to assassinate someone. I feel like there are so many household items that would do a better job. If people fail to game-end themselves with it, its not a good poison.
My dad's ex wife used to make spaghetti like 2 times a week. It always sucked and made my dad and i sick as hell the next day. Dad thought it was weird that every time spaghetti was made, she already had her plate and never got seconds. After being removed from the house for assaulting my dad and the bail was made for her, she had to find a new place to stay. She wanted her stuff, naturally, so dad and i began collecting her items for one of her family members to pick up. We found all kinds of shit she was hiding/hoarding (My dad had no idea since he was sleeping on the couch for the last 3-4 years of their marriage.) Gold, silver, sports memorabilia, tons of collectors coins, snack cakes and other food items. Also a particular box with books about which craft along with notes regarding us and labelled vials that have been used to different levels. It was some off the wall shit, nothing like bleach or common household cleaning products. WE HAD NO IDEA THIS LADY WAS POISONING US. It's sickening that a woman who married my father and knew me since i was 7 years old would do something like that. This all happened when i was 23
Idk how she didn't think that he would get a massive whiff of bleach in his coffee. When someone cleaned our bathroom with bleach the smell that took over the entire house was enough to knock the wind out of you.
When I was a kid, there was a cup of bleach on the counter because the container broke. I drank a sip thinking it was a drink my mom got for me. It's one of the clearest memories of my younger childhood. I still remember the taste, the feeling of chemical burning in my esophagus, the vomiting, the trip to the ER, the charcoal milk they had me drink to counteract it. I'm 35 years old now and this happened when I was 4. It is one of, if not, the clearest memories I have.

Yeah a disturbing amount of people don't even care about justice to begin with, it's all politics. Whatever outcome best fits their pre-existing worldview is the one they'll presume to be true, and they'll wilfully ignore evidence to the contrary.
It's not because there is or isn't evidence, it's because the person has not been officially convicted of the crime in court. It might look stupid to an unsophisticated mind but the presumption of innocence before being proven guilty in court is a lot better then never getting a fair trial and automatically guilty without the opportunity to present your defense.

Thats why no fault divorce should exist. I cant imagine how many people are k1lled in their sleep or poisoned in Philipinnes where divorce is completely banned.
@@kirabad-artist6532 Not exactly. Obviously not everyone will love each other forever. Divorce isn't banned, we just hadn't invented it yet lol Divorce just never really became a thing in the Philippines. While divorce is not recognized by the Philippines, there are alternatives that couples may choose to separate from each other. One of these alternatives is called a _legal separation_ wherein the couple is legally separate. They can live apart and have separate finances and all that, but they both still have custody over any children they have and can't remarry with other people since they're technically still married. Another alternative is called an _annulment_ where the government basically gaslights everyone and declares that the marriage never actually happened in the first place. This is the closest thing the Philippines has to divorce. Any children the couple may have had will be legally considered as illegitimate, but former couples can remarry to other people. Basically, the difference between divorce and annulment is that a *divorce* means that the _marriage actually happened but it ended,_ while an *annulment* is a declaration that the _marriage never actually happened in the first place._ It sounds silly but that's just the way it is. 9 days ago, the Philippine Senate approved a bill to permit absolute divorce. It seems that things are getting better there and the country will join the rest of the world and introduce the concept of divorce into their legal system.

Lucky for him, this is a very stupid way to try to poison someone. Bleach is highly unstable and breaks down when exposed to heat. That's why you have to use cold water if you're using it to make a sanitizer solution. I obviously still wouldn't recommend drinking that coffee, but most of the chlorine would evaporate out during the brewing process.
FWIW: You only need to say 'allegedly' when referring to a crime, not an action that factually occured. So you can say she poisoned her husband without qualifying it, but if you say she committed attempted murder (a specific crime) then you need to say allegedly. Sir, I think it's wiser to say that *allegedly* the reason "Allegedly" is so often thrown out in media is if they don't and the defendant is cleared of the crimes it's an automatic slander suit.
In America, you aren't "cleared" of a crime, a jury merely says the evidence was not beyond a reasonable doubt. OJ Simpson famously won the criminal homicide charge against him, but was successfully sued in civil court where the evidence bar is lower. Meaning, lady can be acquitted and sue, but if the evidence is 51% she did it, she won't get a dime.
@@hoi-polloi1863 It might not even be an automatic slander suit, so we should probably say that allegedly the reason "Allegedly" is so often thrown out in media is if they don't and the defendant is cleared of the crimes it's allegedly an automatic slander suit.
Just to be clear, the media tends to avoid the word allegedly whenever the crime fits their description of the world, and insert it whenever it could make their view of the world not work.

Dude when I was in the military there was this guy who’s wife was doing this exact same thing. The guy is SUPER healthy and jacked af now, obviously divorced and sued her ass, but it’s just crazy how chicks do this to military guys or guys in general to get the insurance.
Update for those interested: She apparently accepted a plea deal and was found guilty for 2 counts of adding poison or harmful substances to food or drink. She was sentenced to 3 years probation. Still felony convictions, albeit lesser felonies.
I find it hilarious that the wife allegedly did this at least three times now (once when he noticed, twice when he got cameras set up) that she's not just wondering how he managed to live. Like at that point I'd wonder if the military dosed him up with super soldier serum
Can’t wait for her defense to just be like “NO, no, that’s not her-that’s her long-lost twin sister in the video!” **UPDATE: On May 11, 2024, Johnson pleaded guilty to the lesser charges of 2 counts of “adding poison or a harmful substance to food or drink,” and the following month she was sentenced to 3 years probation + mental health treatment.

The evidence had probably been long discarded by that point. Also it’s an attempted murder, not dv.

@@lalita9041I don’t understand why someone would completely ban divorces. Do they really expect that all people will love each other forever?
@@kirabad-artist6532 Not exactly. Obviously not everyone will love each other forever. Divorce isn't banned, we just hadn't invented it yet lol
Divorce just never really became a thing in the Philippines.
Basically, the difference between divorce and annulment is that a *divorce* means that the _marriage actually happened but it ended,_ while an *annulment* is a declaration that the _marriage never actually happened in the first place._
It sounds silly but that's just the way it is.

Because while its true she did it, she may not be guilty of the crime.
Edit: fair point below, it would still be 'allegedly poisoned', as we can't speak to intent. There's no allegation needed for 'she put bleach in the coffee machine'.
Good example: Russell Brand is a hypocritical loser. And when I say loser, I mean rapist! (Allegedly).

Meaning, lady can be acquitted and sue, but if the evidence is 51% she did it, she won't get a dime.
