Actually, it was the worst sentence in Wales, from what i read from another comment. Most European countries have very relaxed laws for horrific crimes. An example being Canada let out that guy who beheaded the man on the bus, and the disturbingly low sentence for that nordic mass shooter.

I did 90 in jail for resin in a glass bowl. No weed or any other drugs. Just the black yard resin in a bowl. I was given 2 choices. 90 days in jail or 2 years probation, weekly random drug test, 2 times a week counseling, and $5000 in fines. When I said I choose jail the entire court room gasped and couldn't believe I'd choose that. I said you're not making money off of me. I'll use the time to meditate and learn more about myself. So thanks for the opportunity 😊👍.
That sucks. I guess you are from the USA? In the UK 25 years for a child molester is quite a lot. Most get less than 10 years. I used to have an apartment above a guy on the sex offenders register. He only did 5 years for touching his niece and nephew. To get serious time for drugs in the UK you need to be big time. Like convicted of conspiracy to traffic drugs. Even then you're looking at less than 10 years. When we say life in the UK, we mean 25 years. If someone murders, it's usually 25 years. Our prisons and jails are pretty old. Victorian era Britain. They are in a bad state of repairs. We don't have many modern prisons by todays standards. The reality is there is no room and a lot of crimes go in noticed or midly punished with probation and a fine. Sometimes they'll tag people when in reality they should be behind bars. The system is broken and there's no money left to improve it.
You might be comparing two different legal systems, this one is in UK, i don't think marijuana charges there are as strict as to get a life sentence. In the US with their war on drugs sure, but i've no idea what their level of sentencing in regards to child abuse are.

People have their channels shadow banned or get strikes, etc from YT. I’m sorry to hear of your experience. I used to work in Crim Justice and you won’t believe what a mission it can be to even get a custodial sentence for “child molest”, it would be the exception, rather than the rule. It is a big club out there and the law is written so that the usual offences where there was grooming etc involved, they don’t really show physical violence, and because of that on average you could get, if you’ve got a strong case, maximum 5 yrs correctional, (community supervision sentence). Usually that comes with requirement of a treatment programme for reduction too, which few do, because the sentences are so light, they rather stick out the average 2 to 4 yrs. Though when I later came to learn about what really goes on, the whole banjo of abduction and (well, you know the darker, more seedy part of the Jepstein-type of things) it is so beyond evil, that I almost felt bad for how we used to push the guys on the sacks offender treatment programmes. I want to think that club is even bigger and hardly anyone sees the inside of a cop station. I also think people like Jepstein, bad as it sounds, are low hanging fruit. It gets worse and worse as you go up. I’ve specialised in sacks offending, serial killers etc and later domestic abuse and am pretty seasoned, have dealt with big media cases and have deeply dealt with horrible crimes, but I saw something from the dark w€b and couldn’t finish watching it, it was unthinkably horrendous. As psychotherapist I can’t imagine any normal mind can be that dark, I really think those people are possessed, and the people involved were public figures. Just for interest sake, working in domestic abbuse after the sacks offender, it’s interesting how the two profiles fall out completely almost the opposite of each other. DA are very volatile and sack off, especially the “young people offenders” are very mellow and extremely manipulative. You get where the two meet, of course, but generally speaking. Good luck.

The police not bothering to investigate suddenly made sense when you mentioned she reported it to the police in Wales. They’re notoriously underfunded and uncaring. When it was obvious they weren’t going to do anything, she should’ve forwarded the information to the London Met or another large force in England.

As a CSA survivor I feel for the victims, it’s a lifetime of pain and trauma… I think people forget that this has changed those kids forever. It will likely take years of therapy to process it. Sending love to other survivors and the kids that were victims of his abuse. The fact that they couldn’t even trust their parent to protect them, and being offered up for abuse is sickening and so sad.
I wish I could say unbelievable but the sad truth is thats its everywhere. I can relate to this as my wife was abused sexually as a child and its been fight her whole teenage and adult life. One thing Charlie didn’t mention about his ex is she spent years trying to get him caught, one time he even caught her selling her out to the police but she still worked her way back into his trust to continue to get information. They took multiple laptops full of evidence and everything from her saying they would look into it but never did and when the time came that they caught him for something else they used all of her submitted evidence of him doing it to go after her
Law enforcement hate when civilians do their job better than them. That's why they take it so personally when someone tells them to look into something. It's like they think they're being insulted.

I am one of those guy's who is sometimes ahead of the curve due to having a lot of time on my hands due to recovery from drug abuse. I learnt about how not just the entertainment industry but the whole power structure was held together by child abuse, which is why the world is so messed up. I knew some dark stuff, when I was 15 a lorry driver tried talking me into his passenger seat saying he was looking for my school when he was about 300 metres away from it, I was in school uniform. I backed away and said "it's over there", which made the man nervous but he tried again to get me to jump in. I walked away scared, the man was sweating and the lorry had a sleeping compartment behind and above the driver. I am now convinced there was someone in there and getting in that lorry would have been bad, plus with hindsight he looked like he was bolting on white powder. This was 1995 and I am now nearly 44, but around the same time a boy my age in school uniform got kidnapped a couple of miles from where I was, and his father wouldn't give up on it and it became embroiled in the V.I.P peado case where Harvy Proctor was accused of killing a boy at Dolphin House in London (I think?). He was a politician and turned it into an anti gay campaign and got away with it. I didn't know about Watkins though, I feel for Peaches Geldoff who exposed the mother's and was found dead shortly after, her dad Bob is no saint and his wife and daughter died young. Some of the things I learnt about Watkins turned my stomach, the police won't help because they know, we were all born into this twisted set up and it was rotten long before we got here, sadly people like Watkins will continue to thrive and anyone who stands up to them will be accused of the same thing to shame them. Heard of horror stories of cops doing nothing when citizens beg them to respond, one case I remember had parents call the police after their child was abducted into a house and police did nothing. Father broke in himself. Can't find story or remember names sadly. Still don't forget they did nothing when Epstein trafficked children and cops and JUDGES slapped Epstein on the wrist the first time he went to courts in Miami.

I think there may have been certain legal roadblocks as to why South Wales Police (Heddlu De Cymru) couldnt have acted on the evidence. (Remember its the UK not the US). Whereas they could have brought Watkins in earlier and acted on the tip, any evidence used to justify an arrest on that suspicion may have been inadmissable due to the entrapment nature the evidence had been obtained (im no expert but i think the UK has certain rules on whether evidence obtained by entrapment is admissible or not) (unlike the US where probable cause has to be shown for an arrest in the UK you can be arrested on suspicion and the police have 24 hours to investigate and gather evidence for the Crown Prosecution Service who then decide whether charges can be laid......which is based on whether the evidence gathered so far can support a successful conviction if the case proceeds) I read about it when he got convicted and was like WTactualF how the hell did his band mates not beat the fuck out of him for that if they knew?

He literally got caught for drugs and they happened to find evidence to indicate him on child endangerment charges if he was more careful he would of been able to go Scott free.
His ex girlfriend Joan is the real mvp here. Instead of just cutting him out of her life, she took her time to gather evidence so that she could save children and put this man where he belongs, behind bars.

I was in a pub in Wales 2008 with members of the group . They were normal cheerful fellas .Then Ian entered the pub the group went quiet as if there was a problem . I didn't work out what was happening but at leas 2 members of the band showed some dislike to him . As talking resumed Ian tended to talk over people with odd remarks then he left . This was the only time I met him and my wife looked at me and said there is something really unpleasant about that guy
A good friend of mine was in the same school and year he was, before any of this came out he had conversations with me about how he was a very weird and unlikeable guy in school as well. My friend is one of those jovial dudes who always seems to be able to spark a friendship with anyone, i had not really heard him talk such a way about people before but there was something he really didn't like about him even back then. All quite easy to see back in hindsight. Whilst i didn't really like all their music i really enjoyed some tracks from 'The Fake Sound of Progress', i have often tried to shift the understanding of Ian to one side and enjoy some of the music i did enjoy because he was not the only one making it, but as i understood more about the situation it's one of those things where you think there must have surely been some silence from the bandmates, at least somewhere. Alarm bells must have been ringing in decent people, when you can see even at least the backstage signs if not presented with the absolute worse horrors that were to be later discovered. Reading your interaction suggests to me that there were very probably alarm bells.
I wonder how much the band members knew . The rest of the band weren’t the same as him in a lot of ways. He moved to the US and they stayed in Wales. He became a drug addict over there and by the end the band weren’t really even friends with him any more. They wrote music, he wrote lyrics and they met up at the studio to record and tour but he separated himself from the group.

What’s scarier is that this stuff would’ve probably never been found out before a certain amount of time. I actually worked with Lost Prophets about a year before all this came to light. I worked at a music festival in Australia. I was the Assistant Media Liaison, my role was to take the bands I was assigned for all media interviews, as well as meet and greet winners/signing tent and side of stage winners. I was assigned Lost Prophets for the entire tour (about 2 weeks) I was friends with their Australian TM (tour manager) thankfully because things got a bit weird. I was first introduced to them in Brisbane (the first show of the tour), by the TM and Ian came up to me grabbed my hand and tried to kiss it. I really hate physical touch because of sensory issues so as soon as he grabbed my hand I immediately pulled away. I apologised and stated that I don’t like to be touched. For the rest of the tour he made it his mission to try and touch me anytime we interacted. Unfortunately the music industry is very much dominated by men so as a girl I kind of had to grin and bear it. Luckily for me though because I knew their TM, he told Ian off saying that I had already stated I don’t like to be touched and that he should stop trying. I have more stories about him specifically but it just grosses me out after it all came out. I felt so bad for the rest of the band. Especially the drummer because he was the sweetest person and was one of the only other member to actually have a conversation with me and he politely asked if I could film their meet and greets for him, which I was happy to do. I honestly don’t know how much the band knew but I don’t think they had any idea of just how deep his depravity went.
I find it hard to believe they didn’t have at least SOME inkling as to what was going on.. considering how open he was and how close they are to him being his band mates and all

They definitely let a lot of sketchy things slide, but I don’t believe they knew the full extent of it. A lot of the members had a problem with Ian but chose to stay in the band. But most of the members have kids of their own which makes me think they didn’t know he was as depraved as he turned out to be. I agree that it doesn’t excuse the fact they probably ignored or looked the other way with what they actually saw.
When his bandmates say they knew nothing, I really, really struggle to believe that. These guys knew him for years, were on tour with him for months at a time... He was open about it, bragged about the abuse he committed. And the bandmates either didn't know, which is hard to believe, or knew and stayed in the band anyway.

So it seems proportional to how much a country likes to blow itself over how awesome its prisons are with how hesitant they are to use them on people who need to be in them.

I agree with you however there's more info to this case that wasn't made public due to how disturbing it is - the mother of the ten month old baby they abused together was groomed by Watkins herself from an early age. The baby was his baby. He convinced her to have it. In no way does this excuse her actions, which are beyond abhorrent, but it does add extra context to the whole disgusting situation. He groomed everyone around him and he was masterful at it. She was both a victim and a perpetrator of his abuse. It's so messed up.

I dealt with someone similar on TikTok who was literally admitting to being attracted to children and said how much he “desired them” 🤢 (yeah it’s that weird) and when I tried to expose him and go after him, Tiktok would take down my videos over and over which eventually lead me to getting permanently banned and that p3d0 was constantly laughing about it and bullying me about it bragging about how he’s still on the app and not facing any consequences and how he thinks he’s doing nothing wrong and it took 6 ACCOUNTS (YES 6!) before I eventually gave and never returned on the app for good. To this day he’s still active with 2 accounts posting the same crap everyday and he even has a RUclips channel where he posts the stuff he does on TikTok. Honestly at this point I hope TikTok gets banned

I did 90 in jail for resin in a glass bowl. No weed or any other drugs. Just the black yard resin in a bowl. I was given 2 choices. 90 days in jail or 2 years probation, weekly random drug test, 2 times a week counseling, and $5000 in fines. When I said I choose jail the entire court room gasped and couldn't believe I'd choose that. I said you're not making money off of me. I'll use the time to meditate and learn more about myself. So thanks for the opportunity 😊👍.

That sucks. I guess you are from the USA? In the UK 25 years for a child molester is quite a lot. Most get less than 10 years. I used to have an apartment above a guy on the sex offenders register. He only did 5 years for touching his niece and nephew. To get serious time for drugs in the UK you need to be big time. Like convicted of conspiracy to traffic drugs. Even then you're looking at less than 10 years. When we say life in the UK, we mean 25 years. If someone murders, it's usually 25 years. Our prisons and jails are pretty old. Victorian era Britain. They are in a bad state of repairs. We don't have many modern prisons by todays standards. The reality is there is no room and a lot of crimes go in noticed or midly punished with probation and a fine. Sometimes they'll tag people when in reality they should be behind bars. The system is broken and there's no money left to improve it.
You might be comparing two different legal systems, this one is in UK, i don't think marijuana charges there are as strict as to get a life sentence. In the US with their war on drugs sure, but i've no idea what their level of sentencing in regards to child abuse are.

I’m sorry to hear of your experience. I used to work in Crim Justice and you won’t believe what a mission it can be to even get a custodial sentence for “child molest”, it would be the exception, rather than the rule. It is a big club out there and the law is written so that the usual offences where there was grooming etc involved, they don’t really show physical violence, and because of that on average you could get, if you’ve got a strong case, maximum 5 yrs correctional, (community supervision sentence). Usually that comes with requirement of a treatment programme for reduction too, which few do, because the sentences are so light, they rather stick out the average 2 to 4 yrs.
Though when I later came to learn about what really goes on, the whole banjo of abduction and (well, you know the darker, more seedy part of the Jepstein-type of things) it is so beyond evil, that I almost felt bad for how we used to push the guys on the sacks offender treatment programmes.
I want to think that club is even bigger and hardly anyone sees the inside of a cop station. I also think people like Jepstein, bad as it sounds, are low hanging fruit. It gets worse and worse as you go up. I’ve specialised in sacks offending, serial killers etc and later domestic abuse and am pretty seasoned, have dealt with big media cases and have deeply dealt with horrible crimes, but I saw something from the dark w€b and couldn’t finish watching it, it was unthinkably horrendous. As psychotherapist I can’t imagine any normal mind can be that dark, I really think those people are possessed, and the people involved were public figures.
Just for interest sake, working in domestic abbuse after the sacks offender, it’s interesting how the two profiles fall out completely almost the opposite of each other. DA are very volatile and sack off, especially the “young people offenders” are very mellow and extremely manipulative. You get where the two meet, of course, but generally speaking.

One thing Charlie didn’t mention about his ex is she spent years trying to get him caught, one time he even caught her selling her out to the police but she still worked her way back into his trust to continue to get information. They took multiple laptops full of evidence and everything from her saying they would look into it but never did and when the time came that they caught him for something else they used all of her submitted evidence of him doing it to go after her

I've heard... stories from my friend, who used to work in jail in Russia how it was dealt with chomos. I am one of those guy's who is sometimes ahead of the curve due to having a lot of time on my hands due to recovery from drug abuse. I learnt about how not just the entertainment industry but the whole power structure was held together by child abuse, which is why the world is so messed up. I knew some dark stuff, when I was 15 a lorry driver tried talking me into his passenger seat saying he was looking for my school when he was about 300 metres away from it, I was in school uniform. I backed away and said "it's over there", which made the man nervous but he tried again to get me to jump in. I walked away scared, the man was sweating and the lorry had a sleeping compartment behind and above the driver. I am now convinced there was someone in there and getting in that lorry would have been bad, plus with hindsight he looked like he was bolting on white powder. This was 1995 and I am now nearly 44, but around the same time a boy my age in school uniform got kidnapped a couple of miles from where I was, and his father wouldn't give up on it and it became embroiled in the V.I.P peado case where Harvy Proctor was accused of killing a boy at Dolphin House in London (I think?). He was a politician and turned it into an anti gay campaign and got away with it. I didn't know about Watkins though, I feel for Peaches Geldoff who exposed the mother's and was found dead shortly after, her dad Bob is no saint and his wife and daughter died young. Some of the things I learnt about Watkins turned my stomach, the police won't help because they know, we were all born into this twisted set up and it was rotten long before we got here, sadly people like Watkins will continue to thrive and anyone who stands up to them will be accused of the same thing to shame them. Remember this next time you see someone with power and influence, you don't stay there without taking part or turning a blind eye. I think there may have been certain legal roadblocks as to why South Wales Police (Heddlu De Cymru) couldnt have acted on the evidence. (Remember its the UK not the US).
Whereas they could have brought Watkins in earlier and acted on the tip, any evidence used to justify an arrest on that suspicion may have been inadmissable due to the entrapment nature the evidence had been obtained (im no expert but i think the UK has certain rules on whether evidence obtained by entrapment is admissible or not)
(unlike the US where probable cause has to be shown for an arrest in the UK you can be arrested on suspicion and the police have 24 hours to investigate and gather evidence for the Crown Prosecution Service who then decide whether charges can be laid......which is based on whether the evidence gathered so far can support a successful conviction if the case proceeds)

I was in a pub in Wales 2008 with members of the group . They were normal cheerful fellas .Then Ian entered the pub the group went quiet as if there was a problem . I didn't work out what was happening but at leas 2 members of the band showed some dislike to him . As talking resumed Ian tended to talk over people with odd remarks then he left . This was the only time I met him and my wife looked at me and said there is something really unpleasant about that guy
A good friend of mine was in the same school and year he was, before any of this came out he had conversations with me about how he was a very weird and unlikeable guy in school as well. My friend is one of those jovial dudes who always seems to be able to spark a friendship with anyone, i had not really heard him talk such a way about people before but there was something he really didn't like about him even back then. All quite easy to see back in hindsight.
Whilst i didn't really like all their music i really enjoyed some tracks from 'The Fake Sound of Progress', i have often tried to shift the understanding of Ian to one side and enjoy some of the music i did enjoy because he was not the only one making it, but as i understood more about the situation it's one of those things where you think there must have surely been some silence from the bandmates, at least somewhere. Alarm bells must have been ringing in decent people, when you can see even at least the backstage signs if not presented with the absolute worse horrors that were to be later discovered. Reading your interaction suggests to me that there were very probably alarm bells.
I wonder how much the band members knew . I don't think they knew quite how depraved he was .Mind you how could anyone guess , Ian went further into the sick world of Paedophelia than anyone since Jimmy Savile. The rest of the band weren’t the same as him in a lot of ways. He moved to the US and they stayed in Wales. He became a drug addict over there and by the end the band weren’t really even friends with him any more. They wrote music, he wrote lyrics and they met up at the studio to record and tour but he separated himself from the group.

I actually worked with Lost Prophets about a year before all this came to light. I worked at a music festival in Australia. I was the Assistant Media Liaison, my role was to take the bands I was assigned for all media interviews, as well as meet and greet winners/signing tent and side of stage winners. I was assigned Lost Prophets for the entire tour (about 2 weeks) I was friends with their Australian TM (tour manager) thankfully because things got a bit weird. I was first introduced to them in Brisbane (the first show of the tour), by the TM and Ian came up to me grabbed my hand and tried to kiss it. I really hate physical touch because of sensory issues so as soon as he grabbed my hand I immediately pulled away. I apologised and stated that I don’t like to be touched. For the rest of the tour he made it his mission to try and touch me anytime we interacted. Unfortunately the music industry is very much dominated by men so as a girl I kind of had to grin and bear it. Luckily for me though because I knew their TM, he told Ian off saying that I had already stated I don’t like to be touched and that he should stop trying. I have more stories about him specifically but it just grosses me out after it all came out. I felt so bad for the rest of the band. Especially the drummer because he was the sweetest person and was one of the only other member to actually have a conversation with me and he politely asked if I could film their meet and greets for him, which I was happy to do. I honestly don’t know how much the band knew but I don’t think they had any idea of just how deep his depravity went.
I find it hard to believe they didn’t have at least SOME inkling as to what was going on.. considering how open he was and how close they are to him being his band mates and all

I agree with you however there's more info to this case that wasn't made public due to how disturbing it is - the mother of the ten month old baby they abused together was groomed by Watkins herself from an early age. The baby was his baby. He convinced her to have it. In no way does this excuse her actions, which are beyond abhorrent, but it does add extra context to the whole disgusting situation. He groomed everyone around him and he was masterful at it. She was both a victim and a perpetrator of his abuse. It's so messed up.

My dad worked with child protective services for 3 1/2 years a few decades ago, and he hated it. I don't blame him, child abuse is absolutely horrible.

I dealt with someone similar on TikTok who was literally admitting to being attracted to children and said how much he “desired them” 🤢 (yeah it’s that weird) and when I tried to expose him and go after him, Tiktok would take down my videos over and over which eventually lead me to getting permanently banned and that p3d0 was constantly laughing about it and bullying me about it bragging about how he’s still on the app and not facing any consequences and how he thinks he’s doing nothing wrong and it took 6 ACCOUNTS (YES 6!) before I eventually gave and never returned on the app for good. To this day he’s still active with 2 accounts posting the same crap everyday and he even has a RUclips channel where he posts the stuff he does on TikTok.

When I was being abused as a teen, I told the cops and they blamed me and said it was my fault for going to the man who harmed me. I was 15, he was 35, I wasn't even old enough to drive or give consent, my brain wasn't fully developed and they blamed me. They treated me like sht and belittled me for making mistakes but they never arrested the man who made me do bad things.

To be fair police do get a lot of false reports from spurned exes. It’s human nature to overly rely on previous experiences, especially when the person has a history of criminal behavior. Fair or not their perceived as less credible. It’d be more affective to anonymously drop off the evidence or have someone who appears more credible present.

Hearing this story made me physically angry. Knowing that they had all of that evidence and the "police" still decided to ignore all of it had me actually screaming at my computer with how frustrated I was. Thing is, they do. There's a professional policing act in the UK, means cops have to have degrees. They also have to be PCSOs for a few years, then when they get recommended for being an actual cop, they are in training for around 2 more years.

I am normally quite strong stomached, but reading the sentencing remarks made me cry uncontrollably as an adult male (not that I like the men don't cry stereotype), I've never felt so much shame just to be a musician because of this guy. The fact he didn't get life boils my blood, but as far as I know, even prisoners hate pedo's, I just hope his life in prison is made miserable.
