Yes! Thanks Marty McFly! Love that car. That’s not pinion slop, that’s a sort of torque converter for rear ends. Allows the power to spool up and then BAM! hit the ring gear all at once for that wheelie-poppin’ experience we all want!

Must be a super high stall because it takes a year and a day for the wheels to move lol

Nice work! That car has come a really long way, it was great to watch the entire process start to finish.

Yeah this at least makes the car driveable without the worry that it’s going to explode the diff. May need to do the gears again though.

I would totally mess with that rear end…..by taking it out and putting in a pre-done Ford 9”. I’m with you, the only rear ends I know are at the beach, and I’m in AZ so I don’t do anything with those either. 😂

There he is. Hey buddy, you’re right, gotta try and save some money doing it myself. Plus we wouldn’t be much of a RUclips channel if it wasn’t done by YOU(me) am I right? Arizona, sounds like a great place or at least better than New York. But it doesn’t take much to be than here. Lol. Thanks for watching.

Set your backlash prior to running a pattern. Otherwise you’re doing a pretty good job. Gears are easy. People just get intimidated by them for some reason.

@@justinshadle7830 thanks brother. Gears are Not my strong suit. Usually I go to guys like you who know more than me if I’m confused. Or I just wing it like this lol. Thanks for the input. Much appreciated

@@justinshadle7830 I think the fear comes from the fact that they’re easy to screw up also and if you do, god forbid, then you’re doing the whole job over lol

Posi, great upgrade, but did you really put 3.08s back in it, 3.08s are so boring! Well, if they do decide to be short lived and you get to enjoy another learning experience I highly recommend like a 3.36 or 3.55. Both still very streetable and will have great cruising RPM with that 5sp, but will be way more fun out of the hole . . . ie more tire smoke! haha
Good stuff man, it's a great car.

@@OneMoreBolt I know, you’re 100% right, they are boring. I actually purposely chose the 3.08 again just to make sure I have a good highway gear. This car is primarily for family fun days driving around and I plan to take it on power tour at some point hopefully. So I don’t want the thing revving out for the sake of my ear drums with the exhaust drone and the sake of my wallet for fuel mileage on the anticipated long hauls. To add insult to injury here, a 3.08 actually cost more than any other gear set for the 8.2 10 bolt for some reason. So I paid more for the boring gears lol. Thanks for watching.

@@americannostalgiagarage Reasoning is 100% sound, and you're not wrong. I find it nuts that the 3.08 not only cost more, but cost a lot more! I bet if you run the numbers though, something like a 3.36 would still give you a nice hwy speed/rpm but give it that little bit more stop light fun. Regardless, love the car and it's nice to see it up and going.

@@OneMoreBolt yes you’re right I ran the 3.36 through the calculator and it was reasonable as well I forget the exact rpm and mph but I just wanted the lowest 3 series gear that would fit the carrier. Stock was just a good option for simplicity. Side note, I checked out your channel, keep up the great work brother.
