Hello Tom, using water to raise the grain before final sanding ensures a smoother final product. Specially on cutting boards or if you’re using water based poly.
Nice job! Wondering if you finished both sides of the top with the hard wax oil and if so did you apply it on the bottom first then buff excess then let that cure then immediately flipped it and finished the top?
Thank you! Yes, I finished both sides. I applied one coat on the bottom first then flipped it about 48 hours after to finish the top. It wasn’t fully cured on the bottom but it was dry to touch and it’s the bottom so I didn’t care too much. I believe cure time is 7 days but they will be releasing a product in the near future that cure in 4-5 days!
@@megancay4218 Hi Megan, I am not 100 percent sure but some putty allows you to add finish on top. I guess just make sure the putty is compatible? Also as long as there’s not a ton putty and it’s only used on small spot repairs I don’t see why not.
Yes two coats for the top. I waited 3 days. Don’t mix too much on your second coat as it won’t need a lot. A second coat really makes it shine a bit more!
I did not, I asked the company if I needed to and they said no. On the second coat you won’t need as much as the first coat. The second coats give the finish a bit more sheen which is what I wanted.
I used two coats for the top of the table! It does add a little more sheen but not as glossy as wipe on poly “gloss”. It’s comparable to “satin” wipe on poly. Thank you very much!
I did put two coats on the top part and just one on the bottom. Applying two coats gave it a more glossy finish but still the equivalent of Satin on wipe on oil base poly. Have you tried using a dedicated buffer? I might try that in the future.
Great job on the table brother! Videos are great keep it up. 👍🏻
Thanks bro! And thanks for the thumbnail!
@@Bantilloswoodshop Hell yeah man, anytime!
Looks good! I like an easy finish!
Thanks brother! Me too as I don’t look forward into applying finish but enjoy the results 😂
Badass bro! Video quality is on point 🙌🏻
Thanks brother! Appreciate the help and the encouragement!
Explain why wipe with water to raise grain. I assume scouring pad knocks down grain afterward. Nice video!

NEVER HEARD OF FINALSANDING AT 180 GRIT
Well now you have.
Even better then Rubio more durable and half the price
Oh I absolutely agree! I was told they are coming out with a new formula that cures even quicker and other types of finishes in the near future!

Can you use wood putty underneath the finish?

You say you used 2 coats, How long do you wait between coats/ or do you do them back to back? Thanks

Hi! Have you tried to apply a second coat.on top of that one? Does this brand have a gloos sheen choice?
Thanks.for.the video,.looks great!

Amazing. Why would anyone use Rubio?
My thoughts exactly! The table is holding well and still looks new after two months of daily use with two kids.
@@Bantilloswoodshop Have you tried any of the other 2c one-coat finishes? Like general or osmo?
@@jeffreyjbyron I have not but I might now and do a comparison video using different species of wood!
Been using two coats of this (and the competitor) on walnut. Have you tried two?

What colour did you use?
This is the clear.
