We need more videos brother 😆🤣 I imagine you have life going on hope everything good we miss you man ......
Anyone else keep checking to see if there is a new vid 😣😁
Where is your next update?! Very good comparison videos!!!
Hope to see an update or activity on this channel again great content!
Looking forward to more content!
Are we ever going to get some new content?! Always enjoy your vids. We need some updates on the lawn!
I’ve been waiting for one of your video’s to pop up for ages😂. Thanks. Love watching them. 👍👍
Yeah I’ve been busy with other stuff but I’ll try my best to put out a number of videos this season 😎👍🏼
Welcome back !
Good to see you back bro.
Can you write a comment on how things turned out with your test plots this season? Did the store bought seed plots hold up?Thanks for the very well done comparison videos.
ShortCut Lawn is back for the 2021 season. The world is now a better place. Great video and experiment. Looking forward to the next text. Oh and that shovel is really sharp. I need to get one of those to cut out some sod patches .
Thanks Keith, yeah sharpen it from time to time
About Time lol can't wait for all of the new videos brother
lol..thanks
This was cool. Thanks.
Wow, side by side videos are king. I have the Bluebank in my front and this spring will its 2nd season . Very excited to see what it does. I'm very impressed with the Scott's KBG, seems like the best to date. I have a feeling year 2 could be different. Cant wait to see how the plots do this spring. 👍💚
Nice comparison video! Glad to see u making videos!
Thanks bro.
We had to dig an electrical line for our pool last summer and my yard had premium KBG. I bought the Pennington 3 in 1 to put down to have quick coverage for the rest of the summer. I’m never going back to premium. The Pennington blend is a beast. Green all winter too!
I really like this video series, haha I actually checked the channel just a couple days ago to see if there was an update!
I also was thinking of your 'spring lawn care' video when I was out power raking with my sunjoe and fertilizing yesterday.
Lol...nice, was the music stuck in your head too? Man you already dethached, you’re way ahead of me 👍🏼
Great vid, that helps a lot, thanks. I’m going with the Scott’s
Great data. Thanks
original idea. thank you.
Thanks for the posting the video a bit different to the warm season grass here in Australia looking forward to see how it bounces back if you ever get the chance you should see the aussie lawn and lawn tips a but different to the way we manage turf in Australia. Thanks for posting once again
Thats was a awesome video you made. I like to see the difference in grasses next to each other that are actually planted in ground. Great Job 👍
Almost didn’t recognize you...new logo again?
@@ShortCutLawn Yea, too many lawn channels, plus my channels every where and I'm always up to something new and different and im not about to base my channel off one thing 🤷♂️ its who I am.
That Mazama is crushing the bluebank. You weren't kidding about that color!
Yup, BBank can’t even come close to Mazama in the color department 👍🏼
I guess Scotts knows what they're doing.
Nice video bro!
Anxiously awaiting a spring update for the test plot. Planning a KBG renovation this fall and Mazama & Bluebank are 2 cultivars on my list.
If you’re down to those two choices I highly suggest Mazama.
Mazama: very dark by nature and with a little bit of Iron it goes even darker. Blades are wider or thicker than bluebank and other elite KBG.
Bluebank: Finer grass blades, it shines when cut really low at around 1/2”.
Not as green as Mazama and other elite KBG. It takes a lot if iron to get to green up. Doesn’t do very well in winter or colder temps.
Now your making me want to reveal all my seedings lol. Good work my friend😎🌴
Ooh what do you got goin Chris? 🤔 i guess i just have to wait huh.
That was interesting.
Hey Albert, are you okay? No sign of you since months! I miss your videos
Did you ever make the spring video? Can you give us an update.
Patches of darker green amongst the brown = dog pee.
Yup that’s a possibility
Time for a new video!
I have a 3 year old Bluebank mono and it takes forever to wake up here in Chicago. Once it does it goes ape shit through November.
Sup Al! do you like the swardman better or the allet? I just sold my GM and im gonna buy one
😍 this is the best stuff, side by side compared. The surprise concrete access cover my jaw dropped. Can't wait to see the rate of greenup, and how they compare once they are completely out of dormancy.
I think this is where Scotts gonna fall behind,,. But we’ll see 😎👍🏼
@@ShortCutLawn yeah it looks very similar to Barvette HGT. I'd be surprised if that wasn't in that mix. Great stuff, but it doesn't quite have the peak as the elite seeds.
Seeing as how I tend to ignore my lawn year round, maybe I should go big-box 😬
No videos in a long time. How are you doing?
The dark green patch I believe to be the result of a spot benefiting from some animal urinating and getting diluted naturally. I also wonder if the plot closest to the street had deeper colors as a result of benefitting more from rain/water drainage downhill. Thanks for sharing.
Yup could be from animal urine. Last plot near the street is Ryegrass, they mature quicker and darker in nature compare to bluegrass.
Spring green up?
That Mazama will come back with a vengeance! It makes a lot of sense that the big-box store/scotts stuff would be developed to hold a better color on average rather than the best at peak season. This is the time of year in my area where people with KBG lawns get frustrated when their neighbor with a PRG green up so much quicker.
Agree, i have a patch of Mazama in the back and it’s still my favorite KBG.
Where's the spring green up D:
Where is the update? 😁
Great video. From one of my favorite lawn guys. What’s with the concrete?
I appreciate that Mike 👍🏼
Looks like a cover for utilities
Yup my kid thought it was a headstone but it’s just a utility box (power)
Come back to us SCL
Scott’s purposefully chooses seed varieties that require less water and are more drought resistant.
In reality KBG is an inappropriate choice for your climate.
If I were you, I would go with 100% RTF TurfSaver. RTF is incredibly dark green and requires little water once established. RTF can grow 24” deep. However, I’m not sure how it holds up 1/2” - 1” mowing.
That's a big difference in the premium and the big box brand. I think a Premium Grass seed will need Premium care. So for the average lawn that's not going to have $2k work of equipment, fertilizer, and treatments put on it the Big Box brands are the best options. Thanks.
Darker patches are caused by heat.
Nice vid, but I’m ready to see the rest of your beautiful lawn. Always appreciate the work you put into your projects.
They’re not quite ready for the pageant yet, still looking kinda rough 😁
Hello.. are you still using your swardman?
No, I sold it few months ago.
Those green patches can be seed contamination aka another cultivar or it can be a nice dose of nitrogen from dog urine.
I tried not to cross contaminate the plots but anything possible.
@@ShortCutLawn oh you didn't but the seed company might have. That is why the seed bag says 99.9 weed free because it might have a few weed seeds or other grass types.
I guess none bounced back.
If you check out my Instagram instagram.com/zoysialawn you can see my Scott’s mix in the backyard. It’s beautiful and lush. Planted in late fall and even did some seeding this winter. We had zero degree temps and it’s thriving. Thickening up more every day in a formerly High moisture low sun area. I had no hopes for this area of my lawn but like I said it’s on fire.
Cool, I’ll check it out.
Dude, your neighbor's lawn is a trainwreck.
2 years ago I overseeded with premium seed that cost me $400 for a large bag that covered my 10,000 sqft lawn. The results were disappointing to say the least. I was very thorough in my preparation and care of those seeds. To save some money, I overseeded with Scott’s Rapid Grass to see what kind of results I get. We shall see
How's the overseed with Scott's going?
@@99wcguy funny you ask. My lawn is the absolute best in the neighborhood. I’ve gotten no less than 10 “your grass looks amazing” comments from total strangers walking by. I recommend Rapid Grass to anyone. A bit of advice, if your lawn is really thin or you just want to have a nice thick lawn, I’d throw this down along with starter fertilizer. Give it a month and you’ll be blown away
@@jakewyler1945 that's awesome, thanks for the advice. My biggest struggle is I have all st augustine grass here in texas with shaded parts. Seems like zoysia is the best bet, but not many videos on people growing that type of grass.
@@99wcguy be careful trying to grow cool season grass down in Texas. The Scott’s stuff contains only perennial rye grass and Kentucky bluegrass varieties. Both are cool season grass. They hate heat, shade and dry weather.
@@jakewyler1945 seems like texas is doomed, especially for shade. St augustine does well but it's ugly hahaha. Zoysia just takes forever to grow (nearly years). Then bermuda requires too much sun
No music would be better.
Now, i know why artificial grass is very cheap, costs pennies, is clean, pretty grass, and is inexpensive. The real grass release oxygen. I notice something different about real grass. it reduces heating temperature. The artificial grass gives more heat.
California and winter do not belong in the same sentence!
You just said it yourself 🤷🏻♂️
Welcome back!
Well thank you my friend 😎👍🏼
