Well done!! Awesome results.
I really liked the music through all three vids also.
Absolutely stunning! Makes me kind of sad I got greedy when picking a lot. I’m envious of your manageable front lawn. You should put classical music behind your videos, they are just so relaxing to watch. 😊
Thanks Jessica 🙏🏼 , I can renovate a lawn but my song choices for my vids is a work in progress 😁
I know right. Manageable is key. He's got that down!
Are you sure 1 pound of seed for 375 sq ft, I have a small yard (600sq ft) How much do you recommend for my area?
It depends on the recommended seed rate for your seed type.
This Bluebank KBG calls for a max rate of 3lb/1000 which is 1.125lb/375, so I was a little under the max rate.
Assuming you’re using Bluebank seeds or any other grass seeds that has similar max rate, you should be putting down around 1.8lb/600
I hope that helps.
@@ShortCutLawn thanks a lot, nice video.
Your new lawn is looking very nice. What’s your secret to growing a new lawn in the summer judging by the time lines on your video? What state do you live in?
Thanks Orlando, I’m in California Central Coast, sucks that we don’t get hot summers but it’s perfect for planting grass almost year round.
You have caution tape up, were you afraid of four wheel bikes and cows?
no, but for you
Looks like a variety of perennial ryegrass. I’ve had it germinate in three days this June when we constructed a small retaining wall at our freshwater beach. I think the success was related to the fact that water hit the wall and splashed up and acted as a natural irrigation system. I’m in central Massachusetts and have spent many hours over the last thirty years and I’ve never seen anything germinate in three days! I constructed a Bentgrass tennis court at my house. If you can grow grass on a compacted sandy loam surface while cutting it down to 3/8” and having four two hundred pound men run across it for a couple of hours a week, I’m pretty sure you can grow grass anywhere. I love the challenge. Any idea on how to get rid of the demon crabgrass? It’s got me talking to myself. The English brought it over as a forage crop. The stuff will flourish in a crack in the sidewalk with a couple grains of sand in it under a blistering sun. Go figure. If I could breed a variety Bentgrass to do that, I’d be a billionaire! 007 is around $70/lb.
How often did you water
Dave, I think I covered my watering schedule on part2 of this renovation series. 8am,12pm,3pm (1-2min)
My fav part of the video, you waited until completion for this update, that is was the best. Also-
Cool to see the burlap, never seen that used and I may try it now.
I love the property border and they way it ties into the sidewalk. Ties everything together, drawing attention to your hard work.
The final result looks amazing already!
Did you treat for the small bit of fungus?
I knew I forgot something...yes I applied Propiconazole 14.3 🤞🏼so far no damage.
This supposed to be 2 separate vids but due to laziness I just combined it 😁
The anticipation of taking off the burlap was killing me, couldn't wait to c the lawn , turned out phenomenal, all ur hard work surely paid off, sad part is u don't have any more grass to renovate!!!
Lol 😁
...after watching it, I think your right,....it took me over 2mns of airtime just to remove the burlap 😁
Nice job ShortCut Lawn! What type of seed did you put down.
It’s Kentucky bluegrass called “Bluebank”.
You’re neighbors lawn and property is immaculate. Maybe ask them for tips.
I have Korean neighbors and they are constantly picking at the grass and plants. They are 55 yrs old and literally picking at their plants and grass daily with no look of improvement. Is this culturally ?
Hi,, congratulations on this very cool done job,,,,, how many minutes a day do you water your lawn?
Amazing work. Keep pushing it to the limit
What's the grass name?
Bluebank Kentucky Bluegrass
Just wondering what neighbors think when there watching killing the grass and laughing saying what a idiot.... over a year I want to do this on my yard but I have fear that is not going to work for me....
Great video and fantastic results! Question, at 5:30 you use do a light rolling. Does light mean you did not completely fill up the barrel of the lawn roller with water? I'm four days after seeding and am constantly trying to keep things moist and wet. I put my seed in very loose soil so right now I can't imagine being able to use a lawn roller or rotary mower on this soft wet ground. At what point do you let off the watering and let the ground harden up?
Thanks Nick, yes it’s filled a little less than half. You back off on the watering when you think most of the seeds had already germinated, in my case was about 2-3 weeks. Also I highly suggest you put down some preventative application of fungicide around this time. Feel free to email me if have any other questions. Good luck 👍🏼
How often did you water once you seeded , thanks A.Browne
At least 3 light waterings a day until germination. The main idea is to keep the seed bed moist at all times, having dry times in between will delay germination.
@@ShortCutLawn thanks! You have an absolutely amazing lawn ..
Thanks 🙏🏼
Hi, what grass types are in your Kentucky bluegrass seed mix?? I live in UK and can't get KBG so struggling to find what grass is inside it, thanks!
I use two types of KBG, NuGlade and Bluebank.
@@ShortCutLawn Awesome, thank you :)
Lovely, and the fruit of your labor!
What kind of Reel Mower is that? Grass looks great by the way
It’s called Edwin2.0 by Swardman
what about the italian lawn seed!
Fine looking yard
Looks fantastic. Great job and thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome DIYard!
I'll second that. Impressive!
It looks great!!
This series is what I needed.
I don't feel comfortable using all the heavy equipment. however I do mow and edge.
I'm in Philly ..My lawn is 90% weed I sprayed yesterday some home depot weed killer which I suspect won't do anything so I'm gonna get the tenacity.
So I need to remove all the weed like you did?
Or can I just rake up as much as I can?
Or can I just kill the weed and then put dirt and seed?
Do I need to aerate to get the seeds into the existing dirt?
Thank you
I know this video is a few years old now. But I wanted to say this is fantastic! It's simple, informative, and easy to watch! I'm currently working on my own kill and till renovation. I started a video series. But I think I need to stop for a bit and just work now without getting carried away with that, haha. Anyway, I needed some motivation today and stumbled on this video series. Pulling that burlap had to feel like opening a giant present! I'm in southern Indiana and chose the SPF 30 Hybrid Bluegrass for heat and draught we sometimes get. Hopefully it will look as good and is as fast as this was, since I'm a little behind (hopefully seeding this weekend!).
Wow, well done!! I want to do a full reno, but with limited time and manpower, I am not sure yet how much I can do. And I was wondering how well Burlap work. I was a bit worried about baby grass possibly being pulled when removing burlap... but I'm glad to see the trick you did. Awesome work!
Awesome job 👍🏼
nice work 👍
Great germination. That monostand of Bluebank looks so good and uniform.
That bluebank is looking good. I like the idea of the burlap compared to traditional seeding blankets.
nice
Nothing beats that shade of green after a first cut of new lawn, congratulations 👍 and sure are lucky the camera survived!!
I agree 👍🏼 yup my iPhone survived, it went face down on the concrete and luckily the glass didn’t break.
@@ShortCutLawn wow you are lucky, normally with iPhones the slightest drop cracks the screen! Got to say out of all I've watched on the tube you're the king of new lawns 👍👍👍🍾
Haha. I thought the same thing about the camera. All in one week I cracked a screen on one and broke the charge port on a gopro. When it rains it poor I guess.
@@BudgetLawns and there was me going to start filming my own video's like you guys, may have to rethink that idea lol
@@devon_rjh_photography9349 lol. Definitely has its risks and rewards.
2?
Where did you buy that burlap from.
Lowes or Home Depot.
Amazing results ! I'm putting down elite KBG in my backyard and hope to have similar results ! Was the burlap for moisture retention or to keep birds away? I might not be able to use one due to the size of my backyard :/
Thanks 👍🏼 my purpose of the burlap was simply to keep the birds out which also helps with moisture retention. Which KBG will you be using?
This 375sq/ft lawn cost me over $70 in burlap.
Peat moss should be just fine and inexpensive.
@@ShortCutLawn Yeah I went with peat last year and received pretty good results, but the burlap was interesting. I'm hoping to get a bag of Executurf that was Midnight, jackpot, beyond, impact, and Rugby II. But based on the feedback I'm getting from dealers is they wont ship to NJ from the midwest :/. My backup is straight Midnight
Have you looked into SeedSuperstore.com? you can make custom mix of seeds.
@@ShortCutLawn I caved and followed your suit; got a blend of bluebank, mazama, and bewitched from SSS. (more shade tolerant for my backyard).
Well done man, you have mastered your craft
Love the music montage.
Damn that 150sqft cost a lot.
Absolutely beautiful SHORT CUT LAWN! Great job. Hope my overseeding goes that nice
Thanks Edward 👍🏼 if you water it good then you’ll be fine 🙂
Nice job pal! How much inch grass have before first cut?
I think it was about 3 inches.
Nice job
What an excellent job!!! Also, I saw you sneak in that Cubs hat! GO CUBS!! Again, excellent video and super successful project! 😎👍🏼👍🏼
Hey hey Fres!.Thanks bro! Haha got a 🏳️W tonight 👍🏼
ShortCut Lawn yeah but it was a close one!! Cishek needs to go away!! I’m flying the W though!! 😎👍🏼
Looks awesome buddy!
Looks amazing !!
Looks fantastic
Impressive😎👊
That's a beaut
After 30 days
Did you reapply the tenacity again or another herbicide???
No Tenacity nor other herbicide until last week which is about 11 weeks after seeding.
@@ShortCutLawn so at the 11 week mark what was used to prevent weeds
Great video! May I ask where you live that you were able to plant grass in spring/summer, instead of fall?
Thanks Michael. Monterey County in California, pretty mild weather year round. on average it’s about 70°s during summer.
ShortCut Lawn Thank you. I really enjoy your videos. Your lawn looks great!
Nice!
That some awesome goodness man!!!
Thanks Connor 🙂👍🏼
Looking good!!!!!
Thanks Raul 👍🏼
First of all this is not a lawn, it's a small patch of grass🤣🤣🤣🤣
I didn’t know there’s a minimum size requirement to be properly called a lawn?
